RAAS Jodhpur

"It’s a challenge to get to RAAS through the confusion of old Jodhpur’s narrow, congested streets. You at last reach an unprepossessing door in a cement facade that opens onto a leafy courtyard and a modern structure housing 39 guest rooms and suites. Through the alchemy of inspired design, the bold lines of this new building blend harmoniously with the elegant remnants of the eighteenth-century haveli (courtier’s palace) on whose grounds it is sited. Through minimalist decor, the accommodations make adroit use of space, texture, and pattern (including pink sandstone lattice screens that, recalling traditional jalis, bring shade and privacy), which compensates for the fairly modest size of the rooms and bathrooms, with handsome tubs set in stone. Room terraces have not just a view, but grand theater: In the foreground, a swimming pool with gauzy-curtained cabanas is set in a garden, and reflecting pools lead up to a graceful old pavilion, now the dining room. To your left, an ancient structure accommodates pillowed seating alcoves. And as the dramatic backdrop looms the Maharajah of Jodhpur’s massive pink sandstone Mehrangarh Fort. The quality of the cuisine, with both Indian and international offerings, can be uneven, and the calls to prayer from the minaret next door can be jarringly loud. Mercifully, double glazing and the hum of the air-conditioning silences the 4 a.m. loudspeaker crackle."

Rajasthan's Coolest Desert Town Has Almost No Tourists

"I started in Jodhpur, at the boutique Raas hotel, preferring its intimacy and rebelliously slick minimalism to the grand palaces outside the city walls."

What an amazing hotel. Firstly fabulous staff (special call out to Jai and Khan but everyone was amazing). Wonderful food. And the view of the fort - unbelievable!! We spent 3 days enjoying the city, the history and the wonderful oasis of a hotel. The pool is amazing after a hot day out exploring. THANK YOU to all the staff who made this stay so memorable and relaxing. An absolute highlight of our time in India. (Oh - the design of the hotel is amazing too. A fantastic combination of historic and modern with lush gardens and water. )

We went here in end of January and I think winters are the best time to visit the property. The location is nestled deep inside the market, so don’t It expect your car to take you all the way in — you’ll have to walk a bit. But once you reach, it’s totally worth it. The property is compact yet stunning, with every corner thoughtfully designed. It’s not a sprawling space, but the aesthetics are on point, creating a vibe that feels both intimate and beautifully curated. The rooms, though not very spacious, are tastefully done with traditional decor and modern comfort. Some of them open up to charming little balconies or windows that perfectly frame the fort view — waking up to that sight is something special. The interiors reflect the local heritage without feeling overdone, and the overall vibe is peaceful, making it a great stay for couples or solo travellers. The food was decent — not extraordinary, but it does the job. What truly stands out is the ambiance. If you’re in Jodhpur and looking for a charming spot to unwind, this place should definitely be on your list. A must-visit for the overall experience, especially if you appreciate good design and cozy space

Very nice hotel - 2 night stay - not really “luxurious” but very comfortable stay and dining.||We had a garden room - likely one of the cheaper rooms - although no stunning views it benefited from a really nice private garden. It was well furnished and kept very clean - but we had noisy guests around/above us - but that’s not down to the hotel.||We dined in both of their restaurants - nice food and service.||Only 2 “niggles”:||1) reception is really small - made communication difficult and transport pick-ups a challenge||2) Stepwell Cafe was closed for filming (professional external filming with actors) - so a facility was closed to guests for our entire stay. Why do hotels do this to advance their revenue rather than being considerate to their guests?||Without these niggles I would have awarded a 5 star

Raas is a hotel and a chain with a heart. Impeccable food , service and leadership from the Hotel manager. The hotel has majestic views and served as a great escape even in the heat of Jodhpur. The food menu was brilliant , air conditioning in the rooms super , team was what made the place stand out.

We were redirected to this accommodation when our original accommodation was booked for a wedding. Upon entering, the hotel is nestled in the heart of the city, and you feel somewhat immersed in the culture. The view of the Mehrangarh Fort is really beautiful, and you sort of get this sense like you're in front of the Parthenon in Greece. I believe the rock essence may contribute to this thought. 😜 Overall, the stay is lovely. The restaurants have a wide variety menu. (Which is great for my papa, who is 80 years old and is happy with hamburgers and fries) The staff here are all so kind and very accommodating.

This hotel is lovely. A warm welcome by Raj and the staff in the little cool glass box that is reception. The four joined havelis are an oasis in the middle of Jodhpur. The modern house is beautifully designed with sand modern sand stone filigree playfully matched with the old haveli opposite in which the spa is located. |The pool is gorgeous - infinity one way with the sound of running water with sweeping views of forts from the room. |We were on the second floor where the filigree folds back revealing magical views of the fort - room 122. |The design fuses the old with the new with the rooms with rainfall showers and tubs with views of the fort. A small sofa and comfy bed. We couldn’t seem to get the Aircon to be cold but not too cold but asked for an extra cover the second night which sorted it. |The bar has glorious views of the fort.|For alcohol they do know how to charge but it’s all delicious.|The included breakfasts had a small perfectly formed cold buffet with a menu to order European and Indian dishes. The dosas and masala omelette was delicious - as was the Marsala chai. |Service was professional, warm, respectful and friendly. A top notch place. |Yes it borders the mosque but the Adhan is 90’seconds long - I’m surprised by some of the negative comments about this in modern secular India. Like any Indian city the sound of horns is like the tweeting of birds. |I would like a gym as well but you can’t have everything. |Special shout out for excellent service to Raj on reception, Arshad and Sarwas in the restaurants and our brilliant housekeeper Mohit. |Glorious hotel and staff. Highly recommended for a stay in Jodhpur!

So we arrived through some narrow streets with an interesting drive to a very warm welcome. After check in complete, we were taken to our first floor room which was gorgeous and spotlessly clean and had everything we need. The the host pulled back the shutters and that view of the Fort was our first wow! Such a stunning view. We enjoyed the swimming pool, got changed for the evening and went to the rooftop bar for drinks. Waiting for the sun to go down and enjoying the views and suddenly the Fort lights up -wow number 2! We have travelled the world (this is our 97 country) and we both just were in awe of the view and rapidly agreed it was one of the best we've ever had for sundowners! The staff here are amazing, the food is excellent, the accommodation truly sumptuous and the location is perfect. Definitely one of our highlights of India. We would love to go back.

“I have visited this property 2-3 times, and there is no doubt that it is truly stunning. The views are absolutely breathtaking, and the ambience is top-notch, making it a perfect getaway spot. However, while the property itself is exceptional, the food does not quite live up to expectations. Considering the pricing, I feel that the quality and taste do not justify the cost. That being said, the beauty of the place alone deserves 5 stars, but unfortunately, the food experience falls short. If the dining experience were improved, this would be an unbeatable destination.”
