RAAS Jodhpur

"It’s a challenge to get to RAAS through the confusion of old Jodhpur’s narrow, congested streets. You at last reach an unprepossessing door in a cement facade that opens onto a leafy courtyard and a modern structure housing 39 guest rooms and suites. Through the alchemy of inspired design, the bold lines of this new building blend harmoniously with the elegant remnants of the eighteenth-century haveli (courtier’s palace) on whose grounds it is sited. Through minimalist decor, the accommodations make adroit use of space, texture, and pattern (including pink sandstone lattice screens that, recalling traditional jalis, bring shade and privacy), which compensates for the fairly modest size of the rooms and bathrooms, with handsome tubs set in stone. Room terraces have not just a view, but grand theater: In the foreground, a swimming pool with gauzy-curtained cabanas is set in a garden, and reflecting pools lead up to a graceful old pavilion, now the dining room. To your left, an ancient structure accommodates pillowed seating alcoves. And as the dramatic backdrop looms the Maharajah of Jodhpur’s massive pink sandstone Mehrangarh Fort. The quality of the cuisine, with both Indian and international offerings, can be uneven, and the calls to prayer from the minaret next door can be jarringly loud. Mercifully, double glazing and the hum of the air-conditioning silences the 4 a.m. loudspeaker crackle."

Rajasthan's Coolest Desert Town Has Almost No Tourists

"I started in Jodhpur, at the boutique Raas hotel, preferring its intimacy and rebelliously slick minimalism to the grand palaces outside the city walls."

Raas Jodhpur, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India - Explore & Book

"RAAS Jodhpur is the superb restoration creation of Rajput man-about-town Nikhilendra Singh and umpteen architects. Designed to reflect the unique character of the city, it combines modern blue and rose sandstone blocks with an ancient haveli. Jaali-slashed shutters dapple geometric light across 40 elegant bedrooms and suites and bathrooms, furniture is custom-made rosewood, and all the mod cons are in place.Sitting in a big sunbowl beneath Jodhpur's 15th-century Mehrangarh Fort, RAAS showcases exquisite craftsmanship and gorgeous detail throughout. There's a lovely big turquoise swimming pool with curtained loungers, a patchwork lawn-and-paving courtyard garden, waterfall-backed reception and a dedicated spa. When hunger strikes, choose from the shady Baradari fine dining restaurant, the informal yet spectacularly located Stepwell Cafe, or the Darikhana restaurant, which has its own street entrance and welcomes non-guests. Add excellent unobtrusive service and you'll not dream of staying anywhere else in Jodhpur. Highs The proximity to, and stunning views of, Jodhpur's deservedly famous Mehrangarh Fort; you're right in the walled cityThe life-saving refreshment from a dip in the beautiful infinity swimming pool and dedicated spaThe mesmerising play of geometrically-patterned light in rooms and corridors, a modernist take on the dappled rays falling through the jaalis of old havelisA beautiful bubble from which to dip your toes into the citySurprisingly affordable for such a knockout creation; family-friendly Lows It can be a tad noisy (especially the call to prayer) but they offer earplugs and you are in the center of an Indian city, so it's to be expectedHeritage Suites lack fort views but compensate with lavish historic decorGarden Rooms also lack views - they have outdoor space but the high walls felt a bit too enclosed for us Book early - it’s popular" - Cathy Teesdale

RAAS Jodhpur (Jodhpur, Rajasthan) 11 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"We spend a lot of time in these virtual pages wrestling with the pros and cons of India’s two main hotel genres. On the one hand you’ve got the historic palace hotels, which make a virtue out of traditional architecture and traditional service. And on the other you’ve got the stylish, design-conscious boutique hotels. Rarely can you stay in a hotel with one foot in each world — but that’s exactly what RAAS Jodhpur is. Thoroughly modern within, thoroughly ancient without, it’s something special indeed: a chic luxury boutique that blends seamlessly into the old walled city of Jodphur." - Tablet Hotels

The hotel is quite a surprise inside the old jodhpur city walls and is best accessed through an auto (tuk tuk). The view of Meherangarh fort is astounding. Breakfast was made to order and delicious but the dining areas are open on all sides and had a few bugs/insects, which should be addressed. The nearby mosque wasnt that much of a disturbance as stated in other reviews (although very strange that the prayers were happening pretty late at night !). The spa is amazing and we had a great experience. We were very thoughtfully given ground floor interconnected rooms as we had seniors with us. The nearby stepwell cafe served great food as well and we enjoyed the view. We stayed at RAAS hotels during our Rajasthan trip using the RAAS hopper plan and this was great value for money.

This is a very nice hotel in the heart of the old city. Be aware that we arrived in a limo which was too big to get to the hotel through the narrow streets, so we got to the Clock Tower square where the hotel arranged to have us and our luggage picked up by some tuk-tuks which was a fun experience. The hotel is set behind fort like gates, so is very secluded, and quiet. The facilities were all excellent, and we particularly enjoyed the breakfasts which highlights the local cuisine. Indeed the hotel food was exceptional. Our room had a magnificent view of the Mehrangarh Fort. A highlight of the hotel is the roof top bar (albeit only 2 stores up! 😂) where we enjoyed very well made cocktails and the glorious open air views of the Fort in the evening. The hotel also arranged a local guide to take us on a walking tour of the old city which was very interesting and most enjoyable where we sampled some very tasty street food and enjoyed a perfect Masala Chai tea from a street vendor. Be aware that the hotel is situated close to a Mosque so there are some loud calls to prayers through speakers during the day and evening. As westerners we didn’t really mind this, as it is all about experiencing the local culture. All up, a surprisingly very pleasant stay.

Stay at RAAS Jodhpur has been most disappointing. Zero value for money. Highlights - |1. Very difficult to reach the hotel as it is situated deep inside narrow lanes of Jodhpur. Please do not plan to drive to the hotel. Unfortunately, hotel has made no provision to help organise transport from main road to the hotel. On another hand the view from this hotel is spectacular. Recommend - go for lunch or dinner and enjoy the view. Look for Arshad Khan in the restaurant. He is very welcoming and sweet. . |2 Rooms - very poor housekeeping and amenities are basic. We had to change our room as there was a bad stench due to plumbing issue. |The other room was no better. You can see from the video below the bathroom was dirty. Highlight was table place mat full of fungus. Picture attached. |Will not recommend this hotel at the rates quoted.

Beautiful havelli in the middle of the bustling town. Nice fresh swimming pool. The heritage suite was huge (although very small doors). Windows had no glass, and shutters are closed, so it feels somewhat gloomy. We opened all the shutters and enjoyed light coming in (but also the heat). We didn’t mind the minaret chanting in the early morning, but we couldn’t enjoy the screaming and shouting of the imam on Friday noon and evening during more than 30 minutes. We didn’t understand anything but his voice was full of hatred and anger. We had a very large private terrace with a beautiful view over the fort. We would have appreciated, as we were only staying one night, to have received the info at the reception that the illumination is only till 9pm. We missed the photo opportunity;-(.|I had a prawn curry as lunch, which was pretty plain. Breakfast has plenty of choice and was tasty.

Delightful all round. Wonderful rooms and restaurants too. We particularly enjoyed the breakfast and bar location. Hotel is ideally located to walk and enjoy the city. The only challenge the hotel could address is that due to the size of the roads access is challenging ( even impossible in a larger vehicle ) maybe a Hotel provided transfer rather than Tuk Tuk could be offered?

We went here in end of January and I think winters are the best time to visit the property. The location is nestled deep inside the market, so don’t It expect your car to take you all the way in — you’ll have to walk a bit. But once you reach, it’s totally worth it. The property is compact yet stunning, with every corner thoughtfully designed. It’s not a sprawling space, but the aesthetics are on point, creating a vibe that feels both intimate and beautifully curated. The rooms, though not very spacious, are tastefully done with traditional decor and modern comfort. Some of them open up to charming little balconies or windows that perfectly frame the fort view — waking up to that sight is something special. The interiors reflect the local heritage without feeling overdone, and the overall vibe is peaceful, making it a great stay for couples or solo travellers. The food was decent — not extraordinary, but it does the job. What truly stands out is the ambiance. If you’re in Jodhpur and looking for a charming spot to unwind, this place should definitely be on your list. A must-visit for the overall experience, especially if you appreciate good design and cozy space

I went to RAAS Jodhpur for my birthday dinner. ✨ The setting is absolutely breathtaking — especially the rooftop bar with the majestic Mehrangarh Fort right in front of you. The ambiance is unmatched and the staff was warm, polite, and attentive.||However, when it comes to food and drinks, I was left disappointed. 🍴 The small plates were overpriced with very average taste, the cocktail lacked flavor, and even the beer was flat. Because of this, we didn’t order more and eventually returned to our hotel for dinner.||Honestly, I had considered staying here for my birthday, but after reading reviews about it being more of a 4-star boutique property that doesn’t fully justify its price, I decided against booking. Still, I wanted to experience the place at least once — and while the views and atmosphere exceeded expectations, the food did not.||A heads-up if you plan to visit: reaching RAAS can be a bit of a task. 🚕 It’s tucked inside narrow lanes, and on our way back around 9:30 PM, we couldn’t get an Ola/Uber directly to the property. We had to walk through 3–4 streets to finally catch an auto.

We went there to have the dinner but it turned out to disaster. First, the roads are do narrow but blocked by locals. There was second road which also really bad. Somehow reached, there was no warm welcome. They took us directly to restaurant which is outside and near to the pool. No hygiene. So many insects and mosquitoes out there. We asked them to do anything related to it, they just moved the lamp little far to us, which did not help. Price wise it was a mess. Unnecessarily expensive. Portion size is extremely bad. Not sure why the rating is so high, but this is not of worthy at all
