I am rather dissatisfied with our recent stay at the RAC Cervantes Caravan Park. We booked and paid for two nights on a powered site, and while Day 1 was without issue, and may I say extremely pleasant, Day 2 was a different story.
At approximately 8:00am on the second morning, the power abruptly went out. When I went outside to investigate our power cable another guest informed me that it was a planned power outage. At no point prior to booking the 2 nights on the first morning, or during check-in were we advised of this, and it was clear that several other guests were also left completely uninformed.
I attempted to contact the office, only to reach a recorded message citing a high volume of calls—unsurprising, given the circumstances. I left my details but was advised the callback time could be up to 48 hours. I then went to the office in person and asked directly whether a planned outage had been scheduled. Staff confirmed it had, and asked whether I had received their email. No such email was sent, and no verbal notice was provided.
We have a 3 way fridge which we put on to gas as approx 8 hours of no power may have seen food spoil in the freezer.
We paid specifically for a powered site, yet did not receive the service for a significant portion of our stay on that second day. The reasonable and responsible action would have been to refund the difference for an unpowered site—a minimal amount of $10. Instead, the response from staff was dismissive, unhelpful, and showed no willingness to offer even basic goodwill.
This experience was to my mind unacceptable, especially from a company of this nature, my review as always reflects the facts exactly as they occurred: honest, direct, and without exaggeration.
Yours Sincerely
