"This sprawling family-owned and -operated lodge is an institution of the Southern Berkshires. With 31 rooms, ranging from quaint guest room-like accommodations to private standalone cottages, the property is nestled at the foot of Mount Race, and an Appalachian Trail head begins just a few feet from the back porch. A robust brook runs adjacent to the lodge, meaning guests are treated to an endlessly tranquil soundtrack to be enjoyed from the various hammocks that hang around the property. Also on the property is The Stagecoach Tavern, which serves farm-to-table food with live music pairings."

We stayed at the race brook mountain house. This trip was for our extended family including 10 people ages 18-??. This house is located about 1/2 mile up a windy road above the race brook lodge's main facilities. Everyone loved the secluded location with beautiful views of the mountains out of main living area and 2nd floor. There were so many places for all of us to hang out together and/or get some private time. The house is so purposely decorated with such a personal touch. The kids took a hike right from the house. We drove down to the main lodge and used the pool for a great time. The management is so responsive via text at any time needed.

This place was magic. We came with few expectations, and were enchanted for our entire stay. The rolling lawns, several hammock spaces, fire pits, pool and sweet family events made it the easiest and most enjoyable trip I’ve taken with my kids.

Just spent a very enjoyable evening at Race Brook Lodge. The dinner was delicious, and the brunch was great. The staff were very friendly and the space was really gorgeous and unique. Maybe the oldest building I’ve ever slept in! Kept expecting George Washington to walk around the corner. You should definitely visit if you are into great food and authentic New England charm. I can’t wait to come back and see more of the property.

Incredible hospitality. Rustic. Direct access to the Appalachian Trail. River follows trail to waterfalls. Live music. Great food. Perfect service and hospitality. One of the most majestic places I've had the pleasure ever staying.

I have been coming to Race Brooke Lodge for about 13 years now, and its one of my favorite places for relaxing, taking my date, and seeing great music as well as great food. Highly recommend. Every year gets better and better. And i love the owners and the staff. ❤️❤️

We had our wedding here, and it was absolutely magical! The venue can fit so many people, which makes it a great option if you want to have all your guests stay in the same place as wedding activities. There are so many beautiful green spaces throughout, as well as charming buildings with lots of hidden nooks and crannies. The venue lit up at night is equally beautiful. Highly recommend!!

We visited Race Brook Lodge for the first time this weekend and were enthralled. What a magical place! There is a warm, open, welcoming feeling that infuses the atmosphere, people, accommodations, and the land itself. We took a short day hike up to the lower falls and had a refreshing dip, came back to lay in the plentiful hammocks, swim in the pool, relax in the sauna and then have a 5-star dinner in the Tavern and listen to live folk music around the fire afterwards. They make it hard to leave but we know we’ll be back! Thank you!

Google
Lovely historical lodge in the Berkshires. The rooms are beautiful with handmade quilts, antique furniture and other architectural features yet WiFi, comfortable mattresses and air conditioning. The people who work here are warm, welcoming, helpful and responsive to guests needs. My family members love the pool, the hiking trails, and all of the musicians who perform here. The water is from a spring well, the food is fresh and delicious, and the mountain air smells so good. We rarely visit a place more than once but we keep coming back here again and again because we get a wonderful feeling of well being there.

Yelp
Race Brook Lodge is a unique place, and a destination in its own right. It conforms to its landscape, its botanical variety and place in the Berkshirelandscape, especially for those who apprecoate the Taconic range. The people who work there were all know how to make this work, and are very much part of the place. Our room was very clean, and it seems that each room.is unique. There was a welcoming children's playroom, and the property hasany indoor and outdoor places.to.rest and enjoy the setting. The covered breakfast patio was as charming as the dining hall.Incredibly, Vieix Farka Touré was playing there this week. During non-dinimg hours, the texting system.to.communicate with staff worked very well. I look forward to returning.

Yelp
Buyer beware! I'll break this review up into three parts because there are a lot of moving parts here. Booking/ pricing/ management: We stayed a night at the Race Brook Lodge to see a concert a little while ago. At first glance, a stay here looks a little pricey based on what you appear to be getting. In my head, $200 for a small room in a converted barn is steep. When I went to book it, I was asked to select a "package." There was one advertising a nights stay, a three course dinner in the Stagecoach Tavern, and breakfast the next day for $185. I thought since dinner and breakfast were included, that wasn't such a bad deal after all. Total cost after taxes and fees when I hit the purchase button: $201 Imagine my surprise when I got my confirmation email and took a look at the receipt- $309. I quickly looked at my credit card statement, sure enough- $309. I sent them an email immediately asking what was up with the extra $108. Crickets. Oh well, I figured I could just hash it out with them when we got there. I came to find out that there is no front desk, and everything is handled over text messages, so that made it a little more difficult. When the time came to check out, I got a text asking me to click a link to view my "balance." I clicked it and discovered that they were attempting to charge me another $92. At this point I sent them another email and told them that this felt like a scam, and that I would be disputing the charges with my credit card. They responded right away saying that there was a miscommunication, the "package" was actually separate from the room charge and that they were supposed to let me know of that right after I booked, but someone dropped the ball. They did eventually honor the original $201 price that I was quoted, but if I hadn't noticed the discrepancy or been firm about fixing it, I can't imagine they would have refunded it by themselves. Sidenote: when looking closely at the dinner/breakfast package pricing- it's an absolute ripoff. "Package" dinner: $150 Meals Tax: $10.50 Billed gratuity: $24.00 All in- $184.50. For ONE person. For dinner and a middle of the road buffet breakfast? The "three course dinner" allows you to pick any starter, entree, and dessert from the restaurant menu. If you picked the three most expensive items in each category, it would be $104. Plus a $15 breakfast, you're still not even in the neighborhood of $150. I suppose selecting the meal package bestows on you the honor of donating an extra $31 to the owners of the lodge. Great deal! The Room: We were happy enough with our room. It was nothing special, but it had air conditioning, hot water, and it was clean: really my only three boxes that need to be checked by a hotel. The photos on their website appear to be from 2017, which made me a little weary, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the room actually looked better in person. We stayed in the Hayloft #7 room. The concert in the barn: The concert we saw was EXCELLENT. The barn is an amazing venue for a small show like the one we saw. Everyone was giving each other a respectful amount of space, and there truly was not a bad view to be found anywhere. It was hot inside the night we were there, but when it gets to be a little much, you can just step outside, grab a glass of water and some fresh air, and come back in and still have an amazing view of the show. As far as concert venues go, it doesn't get much better than that. All in all, I can't recommend staying here. I'd go see another show in a heartbeat, but would look elsewhere for accommodations. Our time at the lodge was pleasant enough, but the funny business with their pricing left a really bad taste in my mouth. At my most charitable- I'd say it's bad bang for your buck. At worst, the pricing is intentionally ambiguous.

Yelp
What a gem of a place. We were looking for someplace rustic yet refined- and this was the perfect blend of both. Perfect weekend getaway. And we were treated to an amazing jazz band on Friday night! No front desk everything is handled by text it call and that worked just fine for us. Very responsive and helpful. The rooms do not have TVs or mini fridges- but you aren't here anyhow to watch TV. Really comfortable bed and perfect for a peaceful nights slumber. The property is beautiful - plenty of hiking and walking trails. Great locations and amazing views. Do not overlook the stagecoach tavern in the property for dinners- I'll review that separately. Breakfasts were amazing and the same superior quality as the restaurant. Best food we have had in a long time. The staff is more than happy to accommodate you in the private sauna or an outside fire with smores! Looking forward to our next trip here.

Yelp
We stayed on site here for a wedding and had a fantastic time. The food was AMAZING. The staff was extremely friendly and we had a blast with all of our friends! There were constant bon fires, a pool to hang out at and tons of open space to explore. We loved it!

David F.

Yelp
Hadn't been here for about 5 years ....and then I would have given 3 stars. Last Sunday we went to a "jazz brunch" which was terrific. Very good food--relatively simple but very high quality, coupled with OUTSTANDING service and wonderful music from a trio of musicians made for a relaxing and pleasant autumn afternoon. Very pleasant room with a wood burning stove and a nice small crowd of other diners/music lovers.

Yelp
What a fun place! Stayed with a big group, and we enjoyed wandering the property and exploring. We were able to relax by the firepit after a nice day of skiing. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Customer service was spot-on! Anything we needed was a text away! Really loved this unique, comfy spot!

Yelp
The accommodations were wonderful. We stayed in the main lodge, room 8. It was decorated with beautiful prints and eclectic objects. The bed was king sized with a good quality mattress and clean sheets, bedding and pillows. The shared living spaces included a full kitchen, lounge, bar and 1/2 bath. The atmosphere was whimsical with interesting artwork and carved objects from around the world. Peaceful vibe! The grounds have running brooks, several fire pits, hammocks and furniture nooks to sit and relax to while away the hours in nature. You can hike to a summit with stunning views! There is a very clean in-ground pool to enjoy. Top off your stay with a 5 star meal in the Tavern. No disappointments and a very attentive staff. We will definitely go back and bring friends and family to enjoy the experience!

Yelp
An odd place. I wanted to like it more- I enjoy rustic cabins and natural settings. However this was run-down, and the unidentified junk lying around was unattractive- like bohemian junkyard. It looked forlorn. The buildings don't appear to be well maintained. The brook is dry for most of the year so there is no babbling brook, and it was too expensive for what you get. The bed was hard as a rock-very uncomfortable- and the pillows were like lumber. The furnishings, if you care about that sort of thing, was like stuff that you find at the curb in most towns. Stained, mis-matched crappy looking stuff- I think that's what they mean by eclectic. Other reviewers mention the warm reception, the buffet breakfast etc. There is no reception in 2024. There is no check-in desk whatsoever. Everything is done by text message and I wouldn't know who works there and who doesn't. No one identified themselves. The breakfast is an extra $15. Not ready on time. Coffee was cold. Good muffins. No amenities that most hotels have like hair dryers, refrigerators, TV's and all that. No air or hair conditioner either. I have stayed in many places for much less money that offered breakfast and actually seemed to want you to enjoy yourself. They seem to think that they are doing you a favor by letting you stay there. No room service- but you can pay $50 to have the room cleaned? And the "complimentary" small breakfast of not- ready- on- time (cold) coffee, tea, toast, muffins- you have a choice of toast- a half slice- or half a muffin. Beyond that one per person it is $2 each for the other half of a piece of toast or the other half of your muffin. That's their hospitality? There are better breakfasts and softer mattresses and comfy pillows elsewhere for a lot less than $180. I think they need a manager to tighten things up in terms of the way the place looks, their attitude, and the amenities offered.

Yelp
Great cute little place with bungalows, pool, relaxing and chill vibe. Good for families

Yelp
Really cozy and eclectic Berkshire lodge. Very accommodating staff. great food! The tavern is as charming as the lodgings. Quirky and historic and great on a cold winter night.

Yelp
Expensive and strange. Good bar, limited menu and confusing tipping rules. On the fence with this one.

Yelp
Beautiful setting--lovely grounds and hiking along a brook to spectacular waterfalls. Charming, rustic rooms and relaxed atmosphere at the lodge with good food and really helpful, friendly owner and staff.

Yelp
My wife and I spent our honeymoon at the Stagecoach Inn 40 years ago and came back to the Race Brook Lodge (as it is now called) for a nostalgic anniversary getaway. The beautiful setting hasn't changed, and it has retained its colonial rustic charm away from the more tourist-infested towns in the Berkshires. Not surprisingly after 40 years new owners have brought a new "vibe" to the Lodge as a jazz venue with an offbeat communal atmosphere, quirky common spaces, and a roaming rooster and chickens: what the Berkshire Magazine defines as "Bohemian Boutique". The property has an assortment of rustic buildings and curious structures, firepits, and tables for outdoor dining. The guest rooms are furnished with eclectic homespun antiques; where one expects a wall-size TV screen opposite the bed, there hangs instead a tapestry. As we were there Sunday afternoon through Tuesday, we missed the regular musical events (and crowds) so it was for us a perfect quiet retreat. We hiked from the lodge along the Race Brook, bought food from a local farm and picnicked in a bower/gazebo outside the lodge by the side of the brook. Our package included an exquisite dinner at the Stagecoach Tavern, one of the gourmet gems of the Berkshires. The staff are friendly, and low-keyed. It makes for a charming and very reasonably priced getaway, even if you're not there for the music.

Karen R.

Yelp
I had driven by this place so many times heading to see some family. Loved the look and charm driving by. Ghen we went to stay and it was better than expected. so charming and simple, friendly with so much to offer. They are about to undertake a big renovation which will be great. We all need a little makeover sometimes. Hope they don't loose there charm though!!!

John F.

Yelp
I have been coming to the Berkshires since 1979. I have watched race book large grow from when the current owner bought it in the early 90s to what it is today. I will never stay anywhere else when I return to this area. They go out of their way to show an amazing level of genuine hospitality.

Yelp
We loved our time at Race Brook Lodge. Our room was very comfortable, breakfast was delicious and the setting was beautiful. My husband enjoyed a nice nap in a hammock and we got to take a pretty hike nearby. We hope to come back sometime soon. This place is a gem.

Yelp
Stayed just one night & already planning our next visit...planned a quick getaway to the falls & luckily chose this gem..friendly, super helpful staff, gorgeous sprawling grounds, amenities & yummy food. Had a crazy heatwave & gave up halfway to the falls but luckily you can spend your time cool in the pool, games on the porch, napping in a hammock or watch a meteor shower while sipping a cocktail fireside with Ten playing guitar (probably my favorite). We felt like we were away for days...I'd give it more stars if I could.

A E.

Yelp
We have stayed here twice now, and there is a friendly and relaxing vibe about the place. Every person who works there was friendly and helpful. If I needed something or had a question, a quick text had it sorted. We like to start our day on the Race Brook trail before a delicious breakfast (they tell you where everything is from) and end the day sitting at one of the many little spots they have set up around the yard. Everywhere you go there is an inviting table or a rustic bench or some other spot for sitting and chatting or just enjoying the surroundings. The accommodations are exactly what we want: a comfortable bed and very old wood beams that allow us to enjoy the history and charm of the place without having to rough it.

Alexander M.

Yelp
A Latino oasis in the Berkshires. Little I knew that my road trip with my no-English speaking parents would be so enjoyable. Not only this place is unique, comfortable and historic, Ross, Leticia and Vladimir made it special for us. Bonus points: live music in the Barn was delicious. Dinner was worthwhile for any foodie. Try the butter squash Risotto.

Elizabeth W.

Yelp
Kind, helpful staff. Clean and rustic rooms. The water is fantastic. I had such a nice relaxing time with my husband. We hiked the trails, had a nice night with a fire in the fire pit and s'mores!

Yelp
I came up with from Brooklyn with my husband who is a wedding photographer. I wanted to show him around the area where I used to camp as a kid because I think the Berkshires are perfect for weddings. I chose the Race Brook Lodge based on other reviews. Let me say- I am not disappointed. This place is better than I anticipated. It is like going to a camp for adults or families. Hiking, swimming pool, a cozy place for coffee and breakfast, meeting places for groups, hammocks, fire pits, peace and silence....etc The best thing about it is that visitors here seem to be repeat customers and are extremely friendly and kind. People respect the serenity of the place but are also extremely open to conversation. This place seems to self-select for open-minded, nature loving, low key people who love nature, wellness, good food, and good energy. The Stage Coach restaurant has amazing food and a colonial, candlelit atmosphere. I hope this place stays in business for a long time for many generations to enjoy the simple, beautiful life of this area.

Taylor L.

Yelp
This is nice, clean place, but we felt it was very overpriced given that it's pretty shabby and has a hippy/hostel vibe. The wifi didn't work on our first night and there is no reception there, so that was a bit frustrating.
google avatar

Damian M.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Food is incredible, and best of all I feel so safe dining here. Everything is electronic to limit contact and you're always 6 feet away from other tables or even in a private dining room. Really great place, so romantic and great service!

Yelp
We stayed overnight on a brisk October night with the comforting sound of the Brook right outside our door. We had an exceptional dinner prepared and served by wonderful staff. The deserts were amazing - the ingredients were so thought out (Rose water and lavender.) yum! The dinner space we had was tucked away. The music choice was so relaxing. I can't remember the last time we had such a lovely experience. We sat out front at the fire pit for a while after dinner. That was a nice little space as well - surrounded by beautiful trees and gorgeous flowers. We went for an evening stroll to enjoy all the lights in the trees and found a little hang out spot made from an old shed - so we lounged outside listening to an owl hoot off in the distance. Our room was very comfortable. It was nice to just relax with a magazine and chat. It was the most relaxing sleep we had in a long time! We will be back!

Yelp
Race Brook Lodge & StageCoach Tavern We came to this cozy and charming rustic getaway to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. It was perfect: Delicious coffee and homemade muffins on the porch by the fire, hiking the Race Brook trail to the falls, skiing at Catamount, warming up in the Sauna, gourmet dinners with red wine in the tavern's private dining rooms & staying up late playing Uno! The staff were beyond gracious and kind and the COVID safety measures were unobtrusive and reassuring. We will be back for my birthday in February! This place is a haven especially after a hard year.

Yelp
Hugely enjoined visiting this charming lodge for a wedding. Beautiful and comfortable, with a super cozy feel. I wish I could have spent a week longer, hiking up theirs trails, lounging by one of the fire pits, playing with my boys in the little playhouse and playground. The staff were really nice and hospitable, happy to offer info about the area and history. If I didn't live on the other side of the country, I'd have booked a cabin for a stay sometime very soon! As it is, I look forward to returning there someday in the future. Thanks, Race Brook Lodge!
google avatar

Jess R.

Yelp
I hate giving one-star reviews, but in this case it's the only option. We booked a room for two adults and two kids for $275, and were given a small room with three beds pushed together in a dingy outbuilding behind the main lodge--a room with a non-functioning air conditioner, which was so damp they had to bring in a dehumidifier. The property is well-maintained in front, but at the back is almost falling apart--the most visible feature is a large maintenance shed. The continental breakfast, too, is unacceptable--a continental breakfast is supposed to include baked goods, and the only ones on offer were tiny muffins like you'd buy at a supermarket. It's just not a place I would recommend to anyone.

Yelp
The perfect winter weekend getaway! Race Brook Lodge is cozy on even the coldest of nights. Enjoy a book or a board game by the fireplace and sip tea or coffee with family and friends. Everyone is very warm and welcoming. You will feel at home in any of their rooms. I hiked up the nearby trail to get to the waterfall where it is even more peaceful with beautiful views. The Tavern on site makes some delicious food! There is so much to do in the surrounding towns as well. I am looking forward to my next visit!

Bob E.

Yelp
While the food and the staff are outstanding, the accommodations are not. If it were not for how well we were treated and how great the food was, this would be a one star review. The rooms are "dated" is the best description I can provide. Mold in the shower and lumpy, uncomfortable beds. Will return for dinner, but not for anything else.

Jomaine D.

Yelp
This is the best place in the Berkshires! Ambiance, service, food, drinks... everything is amazing! And the setup during COVID is outstanding!

Yelp
We loved the Race Brook Lodge! We describe the vibe as "upscale-ramshackle" -- it's a beautiful, welcoming, neighborly place with every amenity one could wish for, and quirky details in every corner. We will definitely visit again!

Yelp
Race Brook Lodge is super comfortable and feels like home. If you are someone that really dislikes the sterility of corporate hotels and long for something that feels more like a super comfy (and plush) cabin in the woods, you will love Race Brook Lodge. My company hosted a retreat at the lodge and it was perfect, with plenty of spaces to work and relax, coupled with clean beautiful rooms and luxurious beds. We were here when it was snowing so didn't get to experience the farm and gardens, but the little stream running through in the snowy landscape is idyllic!

Yelp
When my husband and I began talking about where we wanted to get married we decided a few things off the bat. We wanted somewhere that provided a beautiful natural setting, a place where most of our friends and family could stay, and a venue where we could host an entire weekend-long experience. With Race Brook Lodge, we got all of that and so much more. I couldn't have imagined every detail coming together as perfectly as it did. Eve and Craig are truly exceptional, they were so instrumental in helping guide us to find the right vendors and the right mix of elements that made our wedding weekend so successful and so perfectly us. They were so helpful every step of the way, always calm and gracious and really knew exactly what worked and what didn't. I can't say enough good things about working with them. Our friends and family could not stop raving about how it was one of the most fun, unique weddings they had ever been to, and certainly the best food. For us, every detail throughout the weekend made it feel special--Friday night dinner on the porch, the local gypsy jazz band, the florist who brought in trees from the woods to decorate the barn, the morning hike to Race Brook Falls, communal breakfasts in the lodge and certainly the late night campfires. Getting married by the brook with all of our friends and family was everything we could have ever imagined, and we will forever be so grateful to Race Brook Lodge for all of their hospitality. We couldn't have hoped for a more wonderful place for our wedding weekend. Over the 9 months we spent planning, we visited Race Brook several times and stayed in a different room each time, each with it's own unique personality and coziness. The dinner at the Stage Coach Tavern was always exceptional, and we loved getting to know Dave and Casey as well as Eve and Craig. We will definitely be staying at Race Brook for years to come.

Yelp
I stayed last night in one of the cabins very cute and cozy very rustic quiet feel which I loved! Staff was beyond amazing and very friendly to help me with anything. The dinner was delicious as well the dinner took a little longer then expected to get but the wait staff went out there way to make sure we were satifisied and gave us all our drinks for free. I felt so relaxed with the it being so laid back and just laying in a hammock and listening to nature. Highly recommend if you want a quiet relaxed weekend with good food come stay here!

Yelp
Really surprisingly friendly staff and gorgeous environs. The breakfast was special, delicious smoothie. Also the homey playground and river walks made for a really nice day with our toddler. I would highly recommend!

Yelp
Race Brook Lodge is a charming facility in a gorgeous setting. I loved going for walks up into the hills out back next to the burbling stream. At this time of year when it's getting cold, the place felt cozy.

Yelp
Last weekend I married the love of my life in the most magical place in the northeast. We had around 70 guests from as close as WMASS and as far away as Germany and London. The weekend was full of love, laughter, a babbling brook, campfires every night, hiking up to the waterfall, lounging around on the hammocks, amazing food, amazing people, and the most beautiful weather I could have asked for. Thinking back on last weekend - there is not one thing I would have changed - and I am so thankful that I found the RB Lodge. One of the things that I was most worried about in planning a weekend wedding was the wildcard element of, "will people mix and do their own thing ... because i'm afraid to overbook with activities".... and I really think that the atmosphere of the Race Brook Lodge made it happen. I have friends who never met before that weekend calling each other - inviting each other to their own weddings... setting dinner dates together... and planning vacations together! All we had to do to make it happen was set up a few yard games (cornhole, soccer) and set out a cooler of beers - and the RBL made the magic happen. Eve and Craig were fantastic and patient with my fiance (now husband) and I as we got all of the details together and went back and forth on room assignments, catering choices, wine selections, everything! They were amazing throughout the entire event - always there when we needed help or had a question - and even told my mom to stop cleaning up so much at a few points so she would enjoy herself and relax! The rest of the crew were awesome too. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the yard and rooms are all just gorgeous. Jay was an awesome chef for the reception dinner - my husband and I really wanted to have a lamb dish - but it wasn't on the menu - and he made us a plate at the tasting that was out of this world... and at the same price point. Also we were craving some seasonal sugar snap peas and he made that happen too! No joke - if you're on the fence about having a weekend wedding - shoot me a message on Yelp and ask me anything you'd like. People can't stop telling me that it was the best wedding ever. :). So in love with this place. Will post photos when I get them back!

Yelp
What a fantastic, eclectic, beautiful place. I spent one night, ONE NIGHT here, and I felt more relaxed than any week long vacation I have ever taken. We stayed in the main house, and all I can say is that whoever decorated this building did everything so right. There is this incredible modern meets historical vibe that the whole main building has going on that I have never seen done so well anywhere. By all accounts antique sconces, tiger print walls, paper Chinese lanterns, and middle eastern beaded pillows shouldn't really go together...but at Racebrook they do! When we were there is was at the point in summer where the brook is actually completely dried up, but the brookside hammocks were completely serene all the same. If you get the chance you should definitely check out Bash Bish falls while you're in the area, it is by far the best waterfall I've been to in New England. The restaurant attached to the main building not only very possibly had the best burger I have ever eaten, but the ambiance is that in which two people could absolutely just fall in love with each other. What an amazing little weekend getaway, will DEFINITELY be returning.

Yelp
Race Brook Lodge is beautiful. Each area of the property has it's own unique way of looking beautiful. The room was very clean and staff was exceptional. My only slight nit-picks are that it's quite pricey if you are looking for JUST lodging and food. If you plan on coming here to enjoy nature, peace and quiet and use the facilities on the property, it's probably a better value for your money. Also, it may not be a good idea to plan on surfing the internet using their free wi-fi, it's just not the kind of place that has or should have a really fast internet connection.

Yelp
A well-appointed, cozy, tasteful, and welcoming place to stay! Spend just one night here, and will definitely be back for more. Wandering the grounds was lovely, made lovelier by the namesake, Race Brook, and we enjoyed having their breakfast of AWESOME blueberry pancakes.

Yelp
Oh noooo. Don't waste your money. It's nothing like the pictures they advertise, that was years ago! In dire need of repairs and cleaning.

Yelp
I was recently there for a college reunion of about 30 people. The entire staff, both at the inn and restaurant were extremely helpful and accommodating. The rooms were clean, but could use a fresh coat of paint. This is not the place to stay if you want the amenities of a 5-star NYC hotel (TV, plush robes, 24 hour room service, etc). But if you're looking for a relaxed, quiet environment with beautiful silvan grounds, sort hike up to a waterfall, farm-to-table food, this is the place.

Yelp
Read Marion P's review - she got it spot on. The Maîtresse d'Hôtel was EXTREMELY rude. She did not greet us, did not seem to want to seat us at all, even though the restaurant was practically empty at the time (4 tables total being served). She would not look at us or speak to us. We were finally seated after practically begging for a decent table, and then she left us there for over 20 minutes without so much as a glass of water. We finally left without eating. Staff was not particularly concerned about our experience except one person. Our room looked nothing like the photo. Very run down, and décor was completely different from photo - completely. Advertised "brook view" and the sound of a running stream. There has been no water since before July (staff told us), and no hint was given. Instead of listening to a brook at night, we listened to traffic (right on the road, deceptive) and screaming kids next door. The room stinks of black mold, esp. the bathroom. We both got sick from the mold. The room has cobwebs, dirt, plenty of dust, and a bunch of spackle mark that were never sanded or painted. There's a difference between rustic and shoddy. At breakfast, both the spoons and the bowls were VERY dirty. Not much on offer - stale bagels. No milk out for cereal and owner was too busy to bother with us. Owner made racist statements in front of us about our ancestors! We were shocked. He did not apologize; rather, he marched out of the room when we corrected his false and defamatory racist statement. They gave us the run around. We had to speak to 4 different front desk people and all they wanted to do was sell us something more - coupon for our next meal, coupon on our next stay. We spent a good part of a short vacation struggling to get what we paid for. Why would be come back? They cater to naive city folk, for whom this may be comparatively rural. It is not set back in the woods. We can see cars drive by and hear them from 6 AM to 10 PM - and we are staying in the Race Cottage in the back. The main lodge is even closer to the street. Only the Barn and Yurt are substantially away from street. I would not say staff is friendly except to people who say, "I'm from NYC!" - One exception who was very, very nice.

Yelp
What a great find. We stumbled onto RB Lodge late one evening. We had the Treehouse Room which was cozy. It is like glamping - nice cabins/rooms - nothing fancy but all you need And no TV or wifi. A racing brook that you can hear while falling asleep. And a hiking trail behind the space They have live music and entertainment a few times during the week too. The breakfast is the best - real eggs, whole grain bread and nut butters, delicious granola and tasty coffee and more! The breakfast room also has all kinds of games and books to use while there. There is a bar, adjacent to the registration area and the breakfast room, where you can find wine and probably other spirits which I don't recall. Or bring your own wine and have a seat in the breakfast/game room and play games or just talk and meet other travelers. We did not eat in the restaurant but heard from others there that it is terrific. We'll be back. We truly enjoyed it.

Yelp
A magical place with rustic charm, Race Brook Lodge offers a private setting ideal for a weekend retreat or an easy get away. The space for the retreat was a very cool barn structure with beautiful windows showing the natural landscape. It was a nice combination of rustic but well-constructed and modernized with a lot of charming touches. There was always water and tea for the attendees and there were enough bathroom facilities so everyone was comfortable. My room was very comfortable and charming. The pillows are really awesome. A couple of different sizes, I really like that. I found that staff to be really nice and charming. They were helpful and welcoming. The food was fantastic. It was very tasty and they offered fantastic vegetarian options which were delicious and plentiful. The Race Brook Lodge is on 100 acres of land and has a beautiful trail right on the property that climb up to a waterfall. The views from this trail are beautiful.

Yelp
My wife and I visited the area for the first time recently. We chose the Race Brook Lodge because of two bands that were playing in their adjoining music barn. That venue was incredible and the Ghost of Paul Revere and GoldenOak were equally good. Everyone associated with the Lodge was helpful and friendly. We talked with several other couples who were staying at the Lodge and they love their accommodations. So my rating of three stars is for our room not the Lodge. We asked for a suite and they put us in the Tree House room. One room had an ok queen bed. There was a little alcove with a twin bed in it also. Paint was peeling from the walls and the carpet on the floor was stained and well used. The gorgeous hard wood floors were almost completely covered up which I thought was a mistake. The rooms were drafty and the shower had poor water pressure. The cost for the suite was around $260 a night! I felt that the owners could have done a lot more to spruce the place up for that price. The place is definitely rustic. That's ok but rustic can also be comfortable. I hope the other rooms are nicer. Again, the staff were great, the music barn was awesome and the tavern next door had great food! The tree house needs a little work...

Yelp
Do you want to go somewhere magical where you feel right at home, wonderful staff that makes you feel like family? Then go to Race Brook Lodge, Bohemian decor, just beautiful artwork and chachkis throughout, not to mention the thousands of books and lots of games. This is by far my favorite place to get away. The honor bar, the Restaurant next door with wonderful cuisine, Prix Fixe menu based on the lunar cycle. David is an amazing history expert on the area, his son is doing a great job running the place, and Eve and Yolanta are great at managing your every need, right down to maintaining the honor bar. Come here and RELAX!
