"Rachamankha A stay at the adults-only Rachamankha feels like an extended visit to a supremely stylish friend’s home. Designed by interiors maven Rooj Changtrakul and renowned Thai architect Ongard Satrabhandu (who happens to be Changtrakul’s stepfather), the 24-room boutique hotel is inspired by 15th-century Lanna and features crisp white walls that offset Chinese antiques, vaulted wood ceilings, and colorful Thai silks. Serene courtyards give way to a library, an art gallery, and a poolside massage pavilion for low-key relaxation. Even the restaurant is primed to make you feel at home, serving regional comfort food like Burmese curry in an alfresco setting that reminds you why you booked here in the first place."

Hotel Rachamankha

"Hotel Rachamankha, a 25 room luxury boutique hotel tucked away on a little street in the heart of the old city (and blocks away from the beautiful Wat Phra Singh temple), is elegant beyond compare. Courtyards and a breezy, indoor/outdoor architectural style allow guests to relax and enjoy the sunshine (and the pool), after a busy day of site seeing."

"The Rachamankha may have a semi-urban Chiang Mai address, but the serene boutique hotel feels miles away from the colorful chaos of northern Thailand’s largest city. The peace and quiet is partly due to the architectural design — the main building is modeled after a chapel of the Wat Phra That Lampang Luang temple — and partly due to the hotel’s edge-of-town location, where unwanted wake-up calls are more likely to come from crowing roosters than honking bus horns." - Tablet Hotels

It is completely surrounded by forest, making it a quiet and relaxing place. Here, you can beautifully appreciate the subtle harmony of Thai Lanna culture and Chinese culture. The staff are all neatly dressed and provide excellent service. Its location within the Old Town makes it very convenient.

Peaceful, calm and beautiful. This hotel is simply divine! I am so glad that I spent 4 nights here earlier this month and I would not hesitate to stay here again. My room was large, the air conditioning was outstanding and I loved the amenities in the bathroom, especially the mosquito repellent. Even though my room was right next to the pool, voices and sounds from the pool were never heard in the room. The pool area was gorgeous and I loved taking a swim after a long hot day and laying out at the pool under the umbrella. I loved the layout of the hotel and courtyards throughout the property. This gave this hotel a unique feel and reminded me of a museum back home.|Breakfast was delicious and I loved that I was able to pick from a variety of food items on the menu. I also loved that I had the option of sitting indoors (there's air conditioning) or outdoors looking out onto a courtyard. |I loved this hotel and can not recommend it enough.

We stayed at this wonderful hotel on two occasions while visiting Thailand in February and March. We really loved the serene atmosphere, wonderful staff and great dining, We stayed in a suite (amazing) and a regular room which was very comfortable. The grounds are particularly lovely and very well maintained. I'm sure there are other nice places in Chiang Mai but I wouldn't stay anywhere else but at this hotel. It was perfect!

This is a wonderful hotel in town. The grounds and rooms are charming and it feels more like a private villa stay, than a hotel stay. The hotel and grounds are beautifully maintained. The location allows for easy access to the town center. Our room was cozy and comfortable. The service was impeccable - from the bar, to the restaurant, to the laundry service. Breakfast was terrific, and cocktails and dinner were wonderful. Indoor/outside restaurant is peaceful and welcoming. Above all, this is a civilized retreat. Don't miss the library and pool. Thank you for your gracious hospitality!

We were very disappointed with our three nights at this establishment and left feeling frustrated and unhappy, with the feeling that we had paid far too much for what we got.||The location is ideal for taking beautiful photos, but it is also completely impersonal. Very quickly after our rather flattering first impression, we felt like we were in an empty, soulless setting. ||In addition, we had a series of problems that were poorly handled by an arrogant manager and an overwhelmed reception desk. ||Among other things:||- A total lack of personalised service by a reception desk that forgot our requests from the previous day: for example, an extension cord needed for a medical device was removed and never returned to us. ||- In the hotel restaurant, a 3-year-old child watched a screen with the volume turned up to maximum throughout the evening meal, under the indifferent gaze of his parents, while a pianist tried to play for the guests. Nothing was done, despite the obvious disturbance and our repeated requests, even though children under 12 are not allowed in this hotel!||- We had two TVs and three air conditioners in our room: when we arrived, all the remote controls were mixed up. It was impossible to operate any of the devices, and it took until the next day for the situation to be resolved. With the Thai temperatures, the first night was not exactly pleasant...||- An outdated bathroom sink drain: permanently closed, we had to dip our hands into dirty water and hold the drain in our hands while the sink emptied.||- A room promised by the manager that we were never given, with no explanation provided, even though he had personally told us that it was much better than the one we were initially given. ||- Breakfast involved waiting, was very (too) limited and of mediocre quality: pastries and bread from the day before, soft-boiled eggs "on demand" that were almost hard-boiled, and a ridiculously small plate of fresh fruit||- To cut a long story short, I would add a multitude of details that are unacceptable in an establishment of this price range (e.g. mouldy tile joints, exposed electrical wires in medieval electrical conduits, stained floor tiles in the bathroom, etc.).||The only good point is that the bar and restaurant service is attentive.||In summary, our experience during these three nights makes it incomprehensible that this establishment, which offers poor value for money, has been awarded two Michelin keys. We strongly recommend avoiding it.

You can't imagine a better place to spend a relaxing holiday in Chiang Mai than the Rachamankha in Chiang Mai.||Located on the edge of the old town—but only a short walk (maximum 25 minutes) from the city's main attractions—you'll find an oasis of peace in this old monastery, which has been converted into a wonderful boutique hotel. The pool alone—just look at the beautiful photos online—is incredible, and the entire complex exudes a wonderful sense of harmony.||We would go there again anytime.

I have been there to pick up my tourists so no comment on the room. The hotel is very calm and luxury in Lanna style. Staff is kind and provide a nice hospitality and service. Well located in the old city of Chiang Mai.

This hotel is incredible! The grounds are stunning and the staff could not be nicer or more helpful. We also really enjoyed the beautiful hotel restaurant — there was lovely live music being played during dinner. Hoping I get to come back someday!
