"Rachamankha A stay at the adults-only Rachamankha feels like an extended visit to a supremely stylish friend’s home. Designed by interiors maven Rooj Changtrakul and renowned Thai architect Ongard Satrabhandu (who happens to be Changtrakul’s stepfather), the 24-room boutique hotel is inspired by 15th-century Lanna and features crisp white walls that offset Chinese antiques, vaulted wood ceilings, and colorful Thai silks. Serene courtyards give way to a library, an art gallery, and a poolside massage pavilion for low-key relaxation. Even the restaurant is primed to make you feel at home, serving regional comfort food like Burmese curry in an alfresco setting that reminds you why you booked here in the first place."

Hotel Rachamankha

"Hotel Rachamankha, a 25 room luxury boutique hotel tucked away on a little street in the heart of the old city (and blocks away from the beautiful Wat Phra Singh temple), is elegant beyond compare. Courtyards and a breezy, indoor/outdoor architectural style allow guests to relax and enjoy the sunshine (and the pool), after a busy day of site seeing."

"The Rachamankha may have a semi-urban Chiang Mai address, but the serene boutique hotel feels miles away from the colorful chaos of northern Thailand’s largest city. The peace and quiet is partly due to the architectural design — the main building is modeled after a chapel of the Wat Phra That Lampang Luang temple — and partly due to the hotel’s edge-of-town location, where unwanted wake-up calls are more likely to come from crowing roosters than honking bus horns." - Tablet Hotels

I had the great pleasure of spending six nights at Rachamankha Hotel in Chiang Mai this September 2025, and it was truly an outstanding experience from start to finish.||The property itself is a hidden gem – the gardens are beautifully groomed, a peaceful sanctuary that invites you to slow down and enjoy every corner. The rooms and buildings are impeccably maintained, combining traditional charm with absolute comfort. One of the highlights for me was the library, an inspiring and tranquil place that gives the hotel a unique character and sense of timeless elegance.||Dining at the hotel was another delight – the restaurant serves wonderful food, every meal was a joy, both in taste and presentation. What elevated the whole stay even further, though, was the extraordinary staff. Everyone I met was unfailingly friendly, attentive, and polite, making me feel warmly welcomed every single day. A special greeting and heartfelt thanks to Nong Pharami, whose kindness left a lasting impression.||Without hesitation, I give 10 out of 10 points to this hotel. Rachamankha is not only a place to stay – it’s a place to remember.

A very beautiful boutique hotel in Chiang Mai Old Town. The architecture and gardens are serene and enchanting. A large swimming pool is also a bonus. It was a very quiet time ( low season) when we visited so we hardly saw any other guests. The restaurant food was very good and service attentive. Would recommend.

Chiang Mai is a town where one can easily be overcome with the crowded streets, endless temples, swirling dust and dirt and noise. Rachamankha is a top quality option for those who want to be quite central yet quiet. It has been beautifully put together with antiques and a lovely swimming pool. It did come across to me as rather pretentious. A good example is the room I was in, where the antique furniture did not work together: the chair did not reach the one table I wanted to write notes on. There were insufficient lounge chairs around the pool... A few tweaks therefore are needed to make it five star. I would recommend the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Am I being too tough with four stars?

Peaceful, calm and beautiful. This hotel is simply divine! I am so glad that I spent 4 nights here earlier this month and I would not hesitate to stay here again. My room was large, the air conditioning was outstanding and I loved the amenities in the bathroom, especially the mosquito repellent. Even though my room was right next to the pool, voices and sounds from the pool were never heard in the room. The pool area was gorgeous and I loved taking a swim after a long hot day and laying out at the pool under the umbrella. I loved the layout of the hotel and courtyards throughout the property. This gave this hotel a unique feel and reminded me of a museum back home.|Breakfast was delicious and I loved that I was able to pick from a variety of food items on the menu. I also loved that I had the option of sitting indoors (there's air conditioning) or outdoors looking out onto a courtyard. |I loved this hotel and can not recommend it enough.

It is completely surrounded by forest, making it a quiet and relaxing place. Here, you can beautifully appreciate the subtle harmony of Thai Lanna culture and Chinese culture. The staff are all neatly dressed and provide excellent service. Its location within the Old Town makes it very convenient.

Brilliant location for the Chaing mai night market, very good swimming pool ,very good service, very good breakfast and even got a free drink at the bar. All in all a very pleasant stay, the rooms are designed the old fashioned way and are very comfortable, you get a bath tub for dip after a long day traveling.

We were very disappointed with our three nights at this establishment and left feeling frustrated and unhappy, with the feeling that we had paid far too much for what we got.||The location is ideal for taking beautiful photos, but it is also completely impersonal. Very quickly after our rather flattering first impression, we felt like we were in an empty, soulless setting. ||In addition, we had a series of problems that were poorly handled by an arrogant manager and an overwhelmed reception desk. ||Among other things:||- A total lack of personalised service by a reception desk that forgot our requests from the previous day: for example, an extension cord needed for a medical device was removed and never returned to us. ||- In the hotel restaurant, a 3-year-old child watched a screen with the volume turned up to maximum throughout the evening meal, under the indifferent gaze of his parents, while a pianist tried to play for the guests. Nothing was done, despite the obvious disturbance and our repeated requests, even though children under 12 are not allowed in this hotel!||- We had two TVs and three air conditioners in our room: when we arrived, all the remote controls were mixed up. It was impossible to operate any of the devices, and it took until the next day for the situation to be resolved. With the Thai temperatures, the first night was not exactly pleasant...||- An outdated bathroom sink drain: permanently closed, we had to dip our hands into dirty water and hold the drain in our hands while the sink emptied.||- A room promised by the manager that we were never given, with no explanation provided, even though he had personally told us that it was much better than the one we were initially given. ||- Breakfast involved waiting, was very (too) limited and of mediocre quality: pastries and bread from the day before, soft-boiled eggs "on demand" that were almost hard-boiled, and a ridiculously small plate of fresh fruit||- To cut a long story short, I would add a multitude of details that are unacceptable in an establishment of this price range (e.g. mouldy tile joints, exposed electrical wires in medieval electrical conduits, stained floor tiles in the bathroom, etc.).||The only good point is that the bar and restaurant service is attentive.||In summary, our experience during these three nights makes it incomprehensible that this establishment, which offers poor value for money, has been awarded two Michelin keys. We strongly recommend avoiding it.
