So, they don't cook the raclette in a fire. What do you care? It still tastes frickin' awesome and you would never know the difference, I assure you.
You come in to Raclette Stube and you order one thing: raclette. Well, you can get fondue, too, if you want, but honestly, don't you think you should go to Fondue Stube for that?
It's all you can eat, so arrive hungry because it's not cheap. With your raclette comes little potatoes, cornichons (little pickles), cocktail onions, and bread. I'm not a huge fan of cornichons or cocktail onions on their own usually, but man oh man, those Swiss have determined the perfect taste combination here. Try a little bit of potato, onion, or pickle with a bite of cheese and you will be amazed at how well the flavors marry.
There is a decent wine list and the wait staff is happy to offer suggestions.
If they offer dessert, I don't know why. Who has room for dessert after eating all that cheese??
(We learned a trick after seeing a local couple at the next table drinking hot, black tea as well as wine with their fondue. I googled it later and found out that it keeps the cheese from solidifying into a hard ball in your belly. Next time I will certainly have to try that.)
