NEVER. AGAIN. We gave this hotel a second chance and won't make that mistake a third time. Anemic air conditioning that can't even keep a room cool in October, weirdly-arranged small rooms with nearly nonexistent storage for clothes and luggage, and a tired-looking property in desperate need of renovation were strikes from the get-go, but the indifferent Rome hotel staff takes last prize.
Tonight I was ignored at my table at the rooftop bar for a solid HOUR. After being seated and waiting almost 10 minutes for someone to take and serve my drink order, I didn't see another waiter for exactly 60 minutes (I checked my watch to be sure).
The place wasn't packed, and I wasn't off in some far corner. Not only was I seated next to two other couples, I was at a table only 30-40 feet from the bar. The waiters and bartenders just simply didn't seem interested in checking up on one person sitting by himself.
When it became obvious a second drink wasn't in the cards, I started trying to catch the attention of a waiter to pay my bill. No such luck. I then got up and stood by my table a (again confirmed by my watch) solid five minutes, trying to make eye contact with anyone on the staff. I considered standing up on my chair while waving my arms, but decided that it wasn't worth making a scene. The waiters either looked in my direction and ignored me, or didn't look over at all.
I might as well have been invisible.
Well, they certainly won't see this Radisson Rewards member since 2012 (with a 250,000+ point balance) ever again! For that matter, I will probably never pay to stay at ANY Radisson Blu after this latest disappointment. All of their Europe properties seem to have gone to seed like the Rome hotel, but this week's stay was the last straw. I'll burn off the remaining points in my account and that will be that.
