🛌Stay and room
We stayed for three nights in an Executive room with lounge access, located on the ninth floor. The room was very clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed, an unobstructed view, and a bathroom with both a shower and a bathtub. However, the bathtub drain was not functioning properly, and the water drained very quickly, which made taking a bath quite frustrating. The heating/air conditioning system was also noisy and could be disturbing for light sleepers.
📍Location and security
The hotel is well located in Addis Ababa, making it convenient to get around the city. The property feels very secure and offers an ATM as well as a bank for currency exchange inside the hotel, which is very convenient.
👩🏽💼Reception and services
The staff are generally very warm and welcoming. However, despite their friendliness, the reception team sometimes struggled to handle our requests efficiently. Upon arrival at the airport, we waited around 25 minutes for the hotel shuttle; in hindsight, taking a taxi is faster and more convenient.
🍸🥠Executive Lounge
The business lounge was under renovation during our stay and was therefore not accessible, even though it was included in our package. However, we were given access to the Business Lounge formula at the hotel bar, with a pleasant selection including very good tea, samosas, chicken, falafel, and whisky. A coffee machine in the Executive rooms would also be a welcome addition.
☕️🍽️ Breakfast
The breakfast buffet is a real highlight: very varied, good quality, with wide opening hours and easy access.
💆♀️Spa and wellness
I tried two massages at the spa. The chair massage (20 minutes, USD 8) was pleasant, but the space was very small, which limited the comfort of the therapist. The foot reflexology massage (30 minutes, USD 12) is, in my opinion, a type of treatment that is too technical and too specific for this kind of spa; in addition, the therapist had slightly long nails for this type of massage. Prices are very attractive, the facilities are very clean, the female staff are kind and professional, and access from inside the hotel is easy.
🌇Common areas and decoration
The lobby is poorly organized and lacks harmony. Despite an effort with Christmas decorations, the overall design remains quite standard and below what is expected from a Radisson Blu.
🆗but - Overall impression
Overall, the stay was pleasant. It remains a nice hotel, but slightly below the Radisson Blu standards we are used to, and therefore somewhat expensive for the level of service provided.
