The Radisson is in a good location, on the east of the island near the docking area for cruise ships. Ask for a high floor with a view of the Fjellheisen. It is a 20 minute tax ride costing about 250 NOK from the airport, and is near shops and restaurants, as well as Tromso Cathedral (Domkirke). The hotel is showing some signs of needing updating, with some slightly tired carpets but is generally well presented. Check in was friendly and efficient with staff member Master. Our superior room on the 7th floor had a nice view of the cable car station but some of the cruise ships are massive and blocked out some of the view of the water. The room had a walk in shower and the usual amenities, but did not have USB chargers and the TV was small by modern hotel standards, certainly in comparison to its sister hotel in Bergen. Breakfast was good although the host manning the desk seemed rather grumpy, with a good choice of food. It closes at 10am, a little earlier than many. The hotel has a small gym on the 10th floor, with great views to while away exercise time.
