We stayed at the Radisson Hotel in January. We had made a confirmed reservation for a room with an Atrium view and a bathtub in the bathroom. These features were the primary reasons for our selection and we chose this specific room category very deliberately. Upon arrival, we were informed that the room we had reserved was under renovation and that we would be accommodated in a different room. This situation was entirely unrelated to us as guests. The room was available for sale for those dates, the reservation was accepted and payment was completed in full. No prior notification or disclaimer was provided before arrival, which is a fundamental expectation in professional hotel operations. The alternative room offered was repeatedly described as an “upgrade” with a cathedral view. However, it did not include a bathtub, which was a defining feature of the room we had purchased. An upgrade, by definition, should meet or exceed all key features of the original booking. In this case, it did not. Our request was straightforward and reasonable: the room category we paid for, an Atrium view (nice view) with a bathtub. Subsequently, we were shown rooms that did have bathtubs but were dark and faced office buildings. These options did not meet the standards or characteristics of the originally reserved room and therefore did not resolve the issue. The only explanation consistently provided was that the hotel was undergoing renovations, accompanied by an apology. While we understand that renovations are sometimes necessary, they should be planned and managed in a way that does not negatively impact confirmed guest reservations. An apology alone does not compensate for a compromised stay experience. Regarding housekeeping: the team was notably efficient and responsive when it came to fulfilling requests and providing amenities, which we appreciated. However, cleanliness standards were not consistently maintained. Throughout our stay, the bathroom was not cleaned; daily housekeeping appeared to be limited to trash removal and bed-making. This hotel is stylish and clearly has strong potential. However, the handling of our reservation and the lack of alignment with basic 5-star hospitality standards fell short of expectations. Guests should be aware that confirmed room features may not always be honored as reserved.
