The World's 14 Coolest Underwater Hotels

"Radisson Collection Hotel, Berlin (formerly Radisson Blu Hotel) has a variety of accommodations on offer, from cathedral view rooms to the spacious Nikolai Suite, but we’re particular fans of the Aquarium View rooms, which look directly out over the famous 264,000-gallon cylindrical aquarium in the wondrous hotel lobby atrium. While these rooms aren’t technically underwater, the effect is essentially the same—falling asleep to the sight of tropical fish and dreamy blue waters. Nightly rates from: $283" - Caitlin Morton, Jamie Spain

First time at this hotel although not the first time in Berlin and this hotel was perfect in every way and would use it again. The location is fantastic and central to everything and within walking distance of Humboldt Forum, Alexanderplatz and Museum Island,. and the u bahn's are all close by to hop onto and go to anywhere in Berlin. The hotel is beautiful, the room was clean and was cleaned every day I was there for 5 days, all the staff were so friendly, nice and polite and just made the stay perfect. The breakfasts had a great range of hot and cold food.

We booked this hotel for the location and the claimed facilities. Location is great however the other facilities are not 5 stars. 1. Swimming pool is quite small and the massage pumps were working only one night of our stay. Some of the tiles inside the swimming pool are missing and its floor doesn’t look clean. 2. Lighting in the rooms are not good. There are lots of floor and wall lamps but all of them are very low dimmed. 3. We couldn’t change the temperature of the room though there is a knob for the heating 4. Quality of bed is excellent. 5. The available tea and coffee pods in the room is very limited. Available tea in the room is only green tea and English breakfast which we didn’t have. On our second night I asked the reception to send me some English breakfast. After an hour, I called the restaurant this time and a polite staff Abi brought some tea to our room. Thank you 6. Gym doesn’t have all the machines which you expect in a 5 star hotel. Weights and stretch area are in 2 separate small rooms which means you won’t be able to use the place if 2 other people are there. 7. Beautiful lobby with amazing living wall and collection of books. As I forgot to bring any reading material I asked the reception if I can borrow any books which he said they have no books 🤔

The Radisson is located in a great location close to many sites & public transportation. The lobby/ bar & restaurant areas were beautifully fitted out. We are a family of 2 adults & 2 teenagers. We shared a family room which had a king size bed & a partition wall with the sofa bed on the other side. Our girls who are 13 years old, said it was pretty comfortable. The staff were lovely & the concierge very helpful. Our favourite thing about the hotel was the excellent breakfast, which was good value, fresh with a lot of choices. I highly recommend.

We picked this hotel for our trip to Berlin after looking at the good reviews and location, however was disappointed when we found out it wasn’t what we were expecting. The hotel lobby was as described, very pretty and well layed out. We was told we had been upgraded for free, and as we were in a 5 star hotel we’d already got a nice room, so was underwhelmed when we went to said room and it was very basic. Everything was clean so no faults there. The bar service was extremely disappointing. We ordered drinks from the bar, was told to sit down, proceeded to wait around 20 mins for 2 soft drinks which we didn’t receive. the couple behind us also had the same issue and as a result left the bar. We went up again to double check, waited a further 10 minutes and eventually walked out without anybody saying anything. My partner is an avid gym goer and went on 2 occasions during our stay to the hotel gym downstairs which was absolutely tiny. For a 5 star hotel, you would expect a decent amount of equipment and for it to be of a high quality. There was 6 Sets of dumbbells. And a smith machine. All in a tiny room with zero air con, horrendous lighting and a shelf on the wall that was hanging off. Not very impressive for a 5 star hotel. More pride should be taken in this area. Finally, after we had checked out and was in the taxi to leave for the airport, i’d realised i had left a pair of £200 Airpods on the corner of the bed. I rang up as soon as we got to the airport, apparently nobody had seen or picked up anything, which i find highly unlikely as there was other things i didn’t need left that could’ve been handed in (a jumper.) I also sent in a report on a website that promised the staff will look and double check nothing had been picked up. I didn’t hear anything back for two weeks or so, followed up and again nothing had been handed in. As they aren’t the cheapest of items, I read some reviews that were rated more at 1/2 stars, and found a very similar situation with another pair of headphones! My airpods were located at the hotel when I check at the airport so knew for a fact there were there, as was the previously mentioned review. Very disappointed, will not be coming back again.

Location is perfekt. Very central. Parking garage directly under the hotel. From the breakfast restaurant you can enjoy the view on the museum island. The central inner galery is imorssingly beautiful. The service is impeccable. Everything what you may need for your business or pleasure trip is available. May of the rooms have small balconies. The windows are well isolated so that you can sleep despite the traffic outside. There is also apparently a pool and sauna which I did not use because I was on business. But in my case very useful were the iron and the full size ironing board directly in the room. All in all, I consider my stay as perfect.

Nothing beats the location, and that remains this hotel’s strongest point. While the furniture has been updated, the room layout and overall feel haven’t evolved much. The bedside lights revealed noticeable dust particles in the air, suggesting the mattresses or surrounding areas could use more thorough dusting or vacuuming.|A few practical issues stood out: the coffee machine only works if the button is held down, and the safe flickered enough that I didn’t feel comfortable using it. The restaurant staff were warm and friendly, while reception felt a bit too serious—whether cultural or corporate, I’m not sure.|If you’re here for Museum Island or nearby monuments, the convenience is excellent. The lobby feels cozier now, though it still carries a slight airport-terminal vibe.

No problems for us for just a 1 night stay. Good hotel in a great location. Place was clean and beds were comfortable. A little odd with the 2 separate duvets but apparently that's a thing in Germany. We got the balcony room expecting to have a view of berlin like in the pictures but just faced another building. We didn't have breakfast as we're doing a food tour later that day so can't comment on that aspect.

The hotel was in a great location, very clean, and the staff were polite. However, several details expected from a five-star property were missing. There were no basic amenities in the room such as toothpaste, toothbrush, or other essentials. The provided shower products for hair, body, and hands were mostly empty, and the body wash was not refilled after the first day, leaving it empty as well. At the restaurant, some of the cookies offered were expired by more than a month, as shown in the attached photo. It’s clear that attention to detail is lacking. Overall, this was not a five-star experience.
