I stayed here at this Radisson hotel property near downtown and the State Capitol building in St Paul, MN. It was a pretty good stay for one night in late May 2024.
Downtown St Paul is a nice, quaint, and cool place. With that said, I decided to check out the scene by booking this Radisson hotel property. I found this hotel listing on hotels.com and booked 2 months prior to departure. Upon arrival, I came here from the airport via Uber. Initially, I found it interesting to see a guard gate arm that was at the entrance to the hotel. My Uber driver had to call in to a speaker box to drop me off. The hotel lobby was a little spacious but had the necessary things. I enjoyed the ambiance of the lobby area. The check in process was good and quick, as with the check out process as well. The dude at the counter gave me a receipt. The lounge area was cozy since I used it to wait for an Uber after checking out of the Radission the next morning. They have the usual amenities a good hotel has, but I didn't really make use of it, including the hotel's wifi. The hotel boasts 6 floors of guest rooms. I booked a room with a king bed, which was very comfortable. Everything in the room worked to a tee and it was quite lovely to be here. Although the prices can be a little higher, you can expect to spend about $150 ish per night depending on the room type you want.
The overall experience here at the Radisson hotel - downtown St Paul, Minnesota was quite good and surprisingly gentle. The hotel is in a good place, within walking distance from the State Capitol building and the Minnesota History museum. I took part in the complementary breakfast the next morning, which boasts a pretty good spread of everything you'd want in a go getter type of breakfast. Breakfast ranges from 6:30am to 9:30am, so don't try to sleep in if you can help it. The Radisson hotel brand takes care of the budget friendly and business traveler alike, by providing comfortable and clean rooms for its guests. My room was good and on the 4th floor. Although it took me a few tries to find the ice maker, I learned that they don't have it on every floor like how some hotels do. Still, it was a good stay. Everything in the room worked and the room was very clean. For the most part though, the bed comfort was very above average and got in a good 7-8 hours of sleep during my stay here. Just what I needed to ward off any jet lag. If you want to stay in downtown St. Paul, MN, consider coming to this Radisson hotel for a good stay. Might be a hidden gem in the Twin Cities.
This Radisson hotel property is located in downtown St. Paul, MN. It's physically anchored at 161 St Anthony Avenue, St Paul. You can book thru 3rd party sites and also directly. Both methods require a credit card upon booking. Not sure if they accept cash, but book early for a good rate! I arrived and departed here via Uber. They have a special parking lot for those guests who drive, but they also have a security gate thingy in the front of the entrance, which I found really interesting and weird without a security guard tending to the in and outs of cars and other assorted vehicles. Not sure if there is reliable public transportation in the downtown St. Paul area or even connected to the MSP area airport, but best bet is to look online to plan your journey. While the comfort and stay was good and certainly above average, the prices can be a little bit higher than what I was expecting. Still, it was nice even if this hotel doesn't have the extra amenities that many other upscale properties do have. The Radisson hotel brand is great for what it does.
4.0 stars for the overall experience. 5.0 stars for the location. 3.5 stars for the prices. 4.5 stars for the room comfort. 4.0 stars for the ambiance.
