Radisson Red Hotel, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town

"Step back a little bit, and tell us about this place.A stone’s throw from the Zeitz MOCAA, the Radisson effectively enjoys the same prime location as the Silo Hotel within the Silo Design Precinct that has sprung up around the museum. But that’s where similarities between the two end. The Radisson is like the cheeky upstart to the Silo’s glamorous older sister. Radisson Red’s signature red modern facade, with rounded corners, looks a bit like a giant piece of Lego that fell out of the sky into the Waterfront. Initially it’s difficult to find the entrance (there are, in fact, two) but once in, it’s child’s play. The playful theme continues with squishy sofas, a refreshment station (help yourself to complimentary caramel popcorn, coffee, and freshly squeezed OJ), and a row of computers. Who's staying here?A lot of hip, young families, designer kids in tow; trendy young couples, and girl gangs spending the weekend in the city. Onto the good stuff: Tell us about your room. One of 252 studios, the room is a minimalist, utilitarian, color-coded box with big windows, which can’t be opened (hate that). It has everything you need, nothing more, nothing less. The queen-sized bed is dressed in crisp white linen, the only softness in the room, and framed by abstract tribal wallpaper in monochromatic red. There’s also a dining table in a bay window with mixed seating (chairs and a Cape-influenced riempie bench) for in-room picnics or work space. Convenient plugs next to the bed. Ample cupboards with funky wooden antler-shaped handles. You can stream your devices to the smart TV, which means you can finish the Netflix movie you started last night. You can also screen mirror your iPhone to it, and watch videos. In the small bathroom, red and white subway tiles become a feature in the walk-in shower and an illuminated round mirror shines down brightly from above the basin, good for checking makeup. There’s a special water-saving flusher on the loo, which makes sense as Cape Town is a water-wise city. How about the little things, like the mini bar, or shower goodies? Anything that made your stay a little more comfortable?Wi-Fi was super fast, and free. Caramel popcorn on the dining table as a welcome snack. How about food offerings? Should we grab a bite here, or head off campus?Breakfast is not included but you can have it downstairs in OUIBar + KTCHN (for real) where the menu highlights Cape Town’s obsession with craft food and drink. Fresh pastries and coffees give way to crowd-pleasers like salads, burgers, pizza, serious sandwiches - served all day, and all sustainably sourced. The hotel’s rooftop has a food truck for a bar, serving good cocktails (try the artisanal G&Ts). There’s a live DJ, funky geometric shaped chairs, and red throws for chilly nights. Pool loungers line the length of the raised, red mosaic-bordered lap pool. Bottom line: worth it, and why?Absolutely—it’s the most affordable, trendy hotel room in the Waterfront. The rooftop bar and pool with wraparound views is the deal clincher, of course." - Jane Broughton

"A stone’s throw from the Zeitz MOCAA, the Radisson effectively enjoys the same prime location as the Silo Hotel. But that’s where similarities between the two end. The Radisson is like the cheeky upstart in the swanky Silo precinct. Marketed as millennial friendly, it’s surrounded by aspirational local brands, including design-savvy accessory and fashion labels, and art galleries. The Radisson Red signature red modern facade, with its rounded corners, looks a bit like a giant piece of Lego fell out of the sky. Much like the fun, playground interior with a refreshment station (help yourself to complimentary caramel popcorn, coffee, and freshly squeezed OJ), and row of computers." - Jane Broughton

Good Evening ||I am mortified at the horrific service that I have been subjected to at this hotel. It’s such a stunning modern hotel in a great location with the worst service I have ever experienced in my entire life.||As you arrive at the hotel there is no signage as to where you need to stop for the entrance. There is nobody to welcome you and there were no porters outside. Our drivers had to find a porter.||We get to the hotel at 3pm which means all rooms should be ready and inspected by 2pm.||I walk into my room to find a full maintenance team with freshly painted walls. My daughter ruins her brand new designer trousers with fresh paint. By this time I am at my wits end as I have a meeting at 5pm on the rooftop and I have to go and watch my daughters soccer match in Camps Bay at 7pm so I am fuming. I have to go back downstairs and wait until they find us another room. I wanted an interleading room which I didn’t get. I over communicated what I required in my emails. I said it’s my daughter’s 15th Birthday and explained in detail what I required.||The room itself was so dusty, the cupboards inside were filled with dust. Our sinus went crazy during the night from all the dust. Very disgusting.||I have a meeting at the rooftop at 5pm and when I was done and I am trying to get a waiters attention for the Cheque but to no avail. I have to get up from my guests to go and pay at the counter.||During the night our door rattles all night and we can’t sleep. In the morning early we are awakened by pound construction noise nearby which we were not informed about at all.||The next morning at breakfast the guy does not seat me he points with his finger and says you can sit there. I sit down and wait twenty minutes for a waiter to take my order. Again I have to get up to go the bar counter to ask for service.||This evening Leana and Thimna made up for all the bak housekeeping. Leana has very good leadership and managerial skills and should be moved to front office.||You lack serious managerial skills. Please send all your management for training before season commences.||I demand a full refund for my stay as I did not get what I paid for and I am extremely disgruntled.||Thank you,

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at your hotel. The atmosphere was elegant and welcoming, and every detail was thoughtfully arranged. What truly made the experience exceptional was the staff — incredibly kind, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. Their professionalism and warmth made me feel right at home. Thank you for making my visit unforgettable

The rooms are designed for one guest only or couples. The rooms are very, very tiny, they can barely accommodate one king bed ( made of two twins beds). The hotel sells double rooms but if you are not very intimate and comfortable with the other person don’t count on intimacy or even room to breath. The greedy managers are fooling the clients selling”double” rooms for in fact single rooms. The bathroom doors are glass made and does not provide intimacy in the bathroom or shower. The rooms tend to look minimalist and cool but the are super cheep and basic. IKEA style cheep furniture. The rooms look like hostel rooms. Very poor customer service.

I was happy with the service staff at the front desk, but the overall cleanliness of the room wasn’t great, the toilet had blood stains and there was a piece of someone else’s hair on the towels. The room was spacious and I had a Mountain View and the breakfast had a good selection of food to choose from! Overall an average stay for me

I stay at the Radisson V&A regularly for work related travel and it’s always a pleasure. The staff is energetic, friendly and quick to assist. When I walk into the breakfast room Max is always quick to make sure I have my flat white (standard), I don’t even have to ask. Makes for a great start to the day:)

If you like red modern deco then this place is for you. The hotel restaurant has a limited menu so it's better to dine outdoor in any case. The service is very good as well. Parking is available and location is fantastic walking distance to waterfront

Breakfast was good, there is a buffet and menu. But when you order from menu, they takes longer to deliver. Their dinner food is delicious. Maybe if they can use other sauces other than BBQ for chicken, it will be great.

Stuff is amazing at hotel. Especially thanks to Brandon, he is really amazing person and sometimes people make you feel home and hotel and location is great. Brealfast was really good. Without asking there is takeaway coffee option even in coffee machine screen, it is added there. Overall it was great experience
