Radisson Red Hotel, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town

"Step back a little bit, and tell us about this place.A stone’s throw from the Zeitz MOCAA, the Radisson effectively enjoys the same prime location as the Silo Hotel within the Silo Design Precinct that has sprung up around the museum. But that’s where similarities between the two end. The Radisson is like the cheeky upstart to the Silo’s glamorous older sister. Radisson Red’s signature red modern facade, with rounded corners, looks a bit like a giant piece of Lego that fell out of the sky into the Waterfront. Initially it’s difficult to find the entrance (there are, in fact, two) but once in, it’s child’s play. The playful theme continues with squishy sofas, a refreshment station (help yourself to complimentary caramel popcorn, coffee, and freshly squeezed OJ), and a row of computers. Who's staying here?A lot of hip, young families, designer kids in tow; trendy young couples, and girl gangs spending the weekend in the city. Onto the good stuff: Tell us about your room. One of 252 studios, the room is a minimalist, utilitarian, color-coded box with big windows, which can’t be opened (hate that). It has everything you need, nothing more, nothing less. The queen-sized bed is dressed in crisp white linen, the only softness in the room, and framed by abstract tribal wallpaper in monochromatic red. There’s also a dining table in a bay window with mixed seating (chairs and a Cape-influenced riempie bench) for in-room picnics or work space. Convenient plugs next to the bed. Ample cupboards with funky wooden antler-shaped handles. You can stream your devices to the smart TV, which means you can finish the Netflix movie you started last night. You can also screen mirror your iPhone to it, and watch videos. In the small bathroom, red and white subway tiles become a feature in the walk-in shower and an illuminated round mirror shines down brightly from above the basin, good for checking makeup. There’s a special water-saving flusher on the loo, which makes sense as Cape Town is a water-wise city. How about the little things, like the mini bar, or shower goodies? Anything that made your stay a little more comfortable?Wi-Fi was super fast, and free. Caramel popcorn on the dining table as a welcome snack. How about food offerings? Should we grab a bite here, or head off campus?Breakfast is not included but you can have it downstairs in OUIBar + KTCHN (for real) where the menu highlights Cape Town’s obsession with craft food and drink. Fresh pastries and coffees give way to crowd-pleasers like salads, burgers, pizza, serious sandwiches - served all day, and all sustainably sourced. The hotel’s rooftop has a food truck for a bar, serving good cocktails (try the artisanal G&Ts). There’s a live DJ, funky geometric shaped chairs, and red throws for chilly nights. Pool loungers line the length of the raised, red mosaic-bordered lap pool. Bottom line: worth it, and why?Absolutely—it’s the most affordable, trendy hotel room in the Waterfront. The rooftop bar and pool with wraparound views is the deal clincher, of course." - Jane Broughton

"A stone’s throw from the Zeitz MOCAA, the Radisson effectively enjoys the same prime location as the Silo Hotel. But that’s where similarities between the two end. The Radisson is like the cheeky upstart in the swanky Silo precinct. Marketed as millennial friendly, it’s surrounded by aspirational local brands, including design-savvy accessory and fashion labels, and art galleries. The Radisson Red signature red modern facade, with its rounded corners, looks a bit like a giant piece of Lego fell out of the sky. Much like the fun, playground interior with a refreshment station (help yourself to complimentary caramel popcorn, coffee, and freshly squeezed OJ), and row of computers." - Jane Broughton

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Radisson Red Waterfront Cape Town. From the moment I arrived, the welcome was excellent, the staff warm, professional and attentive. My room was absolutely stunning, with a magnificent view that I honestly did not want to leave. The breakfast was top quality, the service throughout the hotel was fantastic, and everything was spotlessly clean. The atmosphere, the people, the energy of the place — everything was just perfect. Unfortunately, the hotel was fully booked for New Year’s Eve, so I had to leave earlier than I would have liked. Otherwise, I would have happily stayed longer without hesitation. My only advice: book well in advance, especially during peak periods — you really take no risk at all with this hotel. Highly recommended.

This place has the most amazing , friendly and enthusiastic staff I have ever seen. Service with a smile that’s genuine and warm. ||Do take pics at sunset at the rooftop bar. ||Rooms are very clean & nice. the location is just fantastic- you are in the V&A so no areas of commuting or security. ||Strangely though in the rooms they don’t keep sugar and creamer or replace the empty water bottles/pack. Not a big one but that’s the only service oddity I found.

Radisson RED Cape Town, V&A Waterfront — Terrific from start to finish. The fun begins the moment you walk into this cheerful red hotel. You’re invited to spin a wheel with surprise prizes, and I ended up winning a fantastic dinner during my stay. Radisson VIP members receive a bag of playful treats, and for those who aren’t VIPs, there’s no need to worry—the reception area is stocked with complimentary candy, popcorn, fresh fruit, and drinks for everyone.||The rooms are bright, filled with natural light, and feel fresh, modern, and comfortable. The hotel’s cheeky red theme carries throughout the property and adds to the upbeat atmosphere. Breakfast is excellent—I especially loved the jam dispensers, which keep everything clean and mess-free.||The location is outstanding, right next door to the modern art museum and just a minute’s walk to the wharf. The hotel is very reasonably priced and represents exceptional value. I would happily stay here again.

I had such a great experience at this hotel. The rooms are spotless, and the youthful, funky design, with its industrial décor and clever copywriting, gives the whole place a fun, energetic vibe. The roller shutters on the windows were a brilliant touch: a stunning view of Table Mountain by day, and perfect pitch-black darkness for post-party recovery by night (or mid-morning!). And the complimentary popcorn machine and jelly beans in the lobby is a fun little treat. The rooftop bar is always vibey, and the location couldn’t be better. The best of the V&A Waterfront is literally on your doorstep. Service was consistently friendly and attentive. We had a few special requests during our stay, and Max absolutely delivered every time. Nothing was too much trouble for him - he handled everything with a smile and nailed it. Whenever I’m back in Cape Town, I won’t even consider staying anywhere else. RED has my heart! ❤️

We arrived early before check in got a quick freshen up then headed off to look around the waterfront. We got back to the hotel about 11 and they said our room was ready for us. The room was a good size nice and clean and beds were comfy. |All the staff were extremely helpful and very pleasant always asking how we were and what we had been up to. |Breakfast was great you could have the buffet which was hot and cold foods or they cooked to order too. |Hotel is in a great place on the V and A waterfront and both myself and daughter felt very safe walking around the nearby area. |I would recommend the hotel and will stay here again on any further trips to Cape Town

Great rooms, great beds, great showers. Very good breakfast. Drinking water refreshed daily and possible to fill up your bottle in the lobby. Nice staff, good roof top just the music is too loud to hold a conversation but the cocktails are making up for that. Parking under the hotel and easy uber pickup. Go and eat at Den Anker: great bitterballen and fries (and steak and mussels too!). Check out the Aquarium to meet Nemo and his family!

I regularly travel to Cape Town and have stayed off-site from the V&A and regretted it each time. When I found the Radisson RED I thought it looked like the perfect property and it truly didn't disappoint. The location is excellent, right in the heart of the V&A and Silo District but a slight distance from the main hustle and bustle that it feels quaint. The hotel itself is brand new, very clean, and the RED-brand is very trendy. While the rooms are a little on the small side they are very comfortable and practical. Some people commented on the hotel being noisy but I didn't find this to be an issue at any point. Opt in for the breakfast at booking - the spread is impressive and fresh. The only problem I had... I had to continuously search for availability because their inventory wasn't showing space for the dates I needed, even though the "flexible search" showed each nice was in fact available. This is a Radisson booking engine problem not the hotel.

We had a fantastic stay at the Radisson Red Hotel. The rooms were clean, spacious, making our stay extremely comfortable. The staff were super polite, warm, and genuinely friendly. The location at the waterfront is unbeatable. Being so close to all the main attractions and activities made it incredibly convenient to explore the area. Overall, we highly recommend the Radisson Red to anyone visiting.
