The Best Hotels in Bali, From Beach Bungalows to Cliffside Villas

"Crafted into the cliff face of Jimbaran Bay, just 25 minutes from the airport, Raffles Bali is a 32 villa-only oasis. The entire property has been carefully designed to ensure every spot has an unimpeded view of the ocean, with peace and privacy the name of the game. The villas are a cool cocoon of high vaulted ceilings, lacquered mahogany floors, and idyllic views from the bed across your private garden to the ocean. Each comes with its own private pool, although for a change of scenery, you can choose to take a leisurely swim in the 82-foot beachfront infinity pool. For the ultimate oasis of calm and relaxation, be sure to book The Sanctuary, an open-air spa pavilion where tensions melt away to the sound of tropical birds rolling sea waves. Executive Chef Gaetan Biezus, affectionately known as Chef G by the Indonesian team, oversees the dining options across the hotel and strives to ensure at least 80 percent of produce is sourced from the Indonesian archipelago, with only 20 percent imported out of necessity. A must-book is Rumari, perched at the height of the hotel lobby for ultimate views and presenting a five-step culinary journey through Bali. Down at sea level is Loloan Beach Bar and Grill, which offers lunch and dinner menus featuring freshly caught seafood. The Writer’s Bar is the best spot in the whole hotel to watch the colorful sunset showcase, accompanied by a Bali sling and light tapas menu of Indonesian snacks. —Natasha Callin" - Chris Schalkx, Juliet Kinsman

Bali Reopening: Everything New to Do, From Wellness to Dining | Condé Nast Traveler

"Cascading down a Jimbaran Bay hilltop onto a private beach, Raffles Bali is the island's big-buck newcomer. The villas—complete with butlers and infinity pools—meld traditional Balinese touches with the brand's signature chicness (think lots of polished wood and creamy color palettes) and dining options run the gamut from farm-to-table riffs on Indonesian classics to candlelit dinners in a 'secret cave.' (And yes, the Writers Bar does serve a Bali Sling.)"

I would rate Raffles Bali as one of the best hotels/resorts that I've ever stayed out. The rooms and the property are beautiful - very new...built in 2020 I think, rooms were very beautiful, on property restaurants were top notch - but what really sets it apart is the exclusivity and the quality of the service, especially with the concierge. ||In terms of exclusivity, it was notable to me and my wife that every day we arrived for breakfast, we were the only guests in the dining room. When we had lunch by the pool, we were yet again the only guests. I never saw another guest in the pool area each time I was there. The one time I had dinner at the main restaurant, my wife and I were just one of two guests. Its possible I visited during the low season (late May), but I believe the property only has 30 rooms or so, so it likely will feel exclusive no matter what season. ||The second notable point is the service. They have a system set-up where you WhatsApp the concierge with your requests and I found this system to be amazingly helpful. We scheduled all of our daily activities through the concierge. We were able to book restaurants, temple tours, scuba diving and surfing lessons with just a days notice or even a few hours notice. The concierge team was incredible, super responsive and just made the overall logistics and planning so much easier for my wife and I.||Final point I'll make is I think the Jimbaran area is a great area to stay in Bali. Traffic is pretty horrible in Bali and Jimbaran is in a place where its relatively easy to get to key areas (Uluwatu, Changuu, airport), while also not being in the super middle of the action. ||Overall this was an amazing stay, I would highly recommend the Raffles and I'm sure I'll be back in the future.

Raffles Bali is an exquisite luxury hotel hotel experience where you are lavished by delightful service, delicious food and outstanding Villas immersed in fine Balinese hospitality . Nothing is too much trouble. The attention to detail and level of service is as good as it gets worldwide; it’s first class. We were spoilt having the President’s Villa for our family of 5 with a large infinity pool. Highlights were the Asian BBQ dinner party cooked at our Villa with live music and a table beautifully set with personalised menus under the stars. The Spa, Yoga and the gym were all enjoyed during our stay. Bella our butler was brilliant and looked after us with great skill. The resort is very exclusive and of the best Raffles standard. The signature Bali Writers Bar was also enjoyed with a Bali Singapore Sling! We appreciate the X7 transfers included in the stay. We highly recommend Bali Raffles. Thank you Bernadette for organising our experience.

I cannot tell you how much we loved our few days here. It was so hard to drag ourselves away from the hotel to explore.||We had a beautiful pool villa with uninterrupted views of the forest and bay. Our own private sanctuary during the day and a wonderful place to have sun downers from the terrace and our private bar (the premixed negroni served us well!).||Of course, all the staff were exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable. We were constantly surprised how everyone knew our names, knew what drinks we liked, what coffee we preferred in the morning etc. The service was exceptional.||Bella, our butler gave great advice on excursions and restaurants and was always really responsive. ||The buggies around the grounds were really welcome as the hotel is set in extensive grounds making it very private.||We loved our private pool but really enjoyed being at the gorgeous main pool by the quiet beach. That was the only downside is that the beach is pretty rocky so not ideal for swimming, but a small drawback and still a lovely place to walk and sit.||The hotel food and drinks were delicious especially the extensive breakfast menu - all freshly prepared for you. And of course amazing staff.||We enjoyed a couples massage in the Sanctuary - a private cabin overlooking the forest and bay. Just the sound of birds. Fantastic and the masseurs give a really brilliant massage. Wonderful.||We cannot recommend Raffles Bali highly enough. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

It was a truly satisfying stay at your hotel. The service from the staff was excellent—from the moment of arrival at the airport until check-out. The hotel is well located, very serene, and peaceful. The cave dinner is a unique experience and definitely worth trying. The food was delicious. I will definitely stay at this hotel again. Thank you!

The resort is located in Jimbaran area and offer direct view of the airport and beautiful sunset that could be seen from the lobby area and most of the villas.||Check in was done by the butler who will take charge of each guest during their stay. It was very easy to contact the butler via chat and all my request during the stay was replied within minutes by the butler.||The villa is not too big compared to many other luxury villas I tried in Bali, it is more the size of one bedroom suite but with spacious outdoor area. The view from the villa is the best as it face the sunset. The infinity pool and outdoor area was perfect for relaxing during the evening but can be very hot during the day||The bed was comfortable and quite large. Bathroom area has both shower and bathtub with plenty of amenities that are refreshed by the housekeeping during morning service and turndown service. The staff also provide some snack and drink during the evening turndown service.||Breakfast was served in the Rumari and they used ala carte concept for the breakfast. The choice are very extensive and all taste excellent. They served the food in small portions so the guests can try more items in the menu.||The resort area itself is quite hilly but the hotel has buggy that can take guest from lobby to the beach area below. The beach is quite small so it may not be suitable for someone who like to play in the beach but they have pool area that is not crowded during my visit there.||Overall this hotel offer one of the best experience in Bali and I would definitely return here again in the future

We stayed for three days as part of our honeymoon.|Every staff member was incredibly kind and thoughtful. Our personal butler, Thomson, made sure we were always comfortable and treated us with great kindness. It was very convenient to be able to contact him anytime through WhatsApp.||The villa facilities were luxurious, clean, and extremely comfortable, with a stunning view. Housekeeping was provided twice a day, which kept everything spotless. ||Breakfast was excellent, offering both Western and Asian options. All the ingredients were fresh, and every dish was delicious. The course meal at Rumari restaurant was absolutely outstanding, and we had the pleasure of dining while watching the sunset. The beach bar was also fantastic.

This was one of the most incredible and memorable stays we have ever had! First off, the property is absolutely gorgeous and meticulously maintained. The villas are spacious and luxurious with all the needed modern amenities. The food at every single dining outlet was superb. Chef G has done an amazing job putting together menus that show off local flavors and ingredients. Rumari was an awesome fine dining experience, and the breakfast every morning is to die for. And finally, the service is absolutely flawless. Each staff member we encountered was genuine and extremely friendly and helpful - often anticipating our needs before we had a chance to express them. Going above and beyond seems to be the norm here. A special shoutout to Jocelyn at Loloan restaurant and our butler Endah. These two staff members made our stay that much more special and have us already planning our next trip back.

We had a superb stay at Raffles Bali. Service provided was truly exceptional from all fronts. Andy the front desk manager was exceptional in ensuring our preferences were met. Bagus from the breakfast service and Aria from the Loloan consistently gave fantastic service for each meal. Our dining preferences were noted from the very first day and were constantly met every meal time. The staff noted our preference for local food and constantly catered to this daily. Lestari from the spa had strong massage expertise and gave very good service. Villas are very spacious, clean and luxuriously outfitted.
