Raffles Hotel Le Royal (Phnom Penh, Cambodia) 8 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Phnom Penh is a tourist destination once again. It’s challenging and strange, to be sure, but with an air of slightly nostalgic romance, for which the Hotel Le Royal is perfectly suited. This vanilla-colored confection was, in another life, the hotel of choice for jet setters like Jackie O, Andre Malraux, and W. Somerset Maugham. Later, journalists Sydney Schanberg and Jon Swain (of Killing Fields fame) would stay here while they were covering the Khmer Rouge. And today the elegance of Le Royal stands out in vivid contrast to the dust of the streets around it. Needless to say, it’s no longer quite the same place where Jackie O once swam, after a decade of Communist-era neglect followed by a hyper-luxe renovation. The spa is impressive, as is the slick Art Deco lobby. The original building, as is so often the case, is superior to the two new wings, but only in terms of character. And the best rooms, naturally, are the Jackie O and the Landmark suites, with their real Persian rugs and Deco-period furnishings, including Cambodian curios, canopy beds and claw-footed bathtubs. Phnom Penh is a necessary stop for anyone going to Cambodia, not just as a stopover on the way to the temple of Angkor, but for the glimpses it offers into this country’s more recent history. And Le Royal is still Phnom Penh’s top hotel by far. It’s the best located, just steps away from the Royal Palace and the museum, which constitute the most picturesque parts of the town. It’s also the one whose bars remain open after the rest of the town shuts at sundown." - Tablet Hotels

my family and I had a fantastic stay. We enjoyed the pool - the kids pool was especially good as it gave my son the freedom to play. The room was comfortable and the our shower and bath was great. We eat at Le Phnom which was delicious as was the breakfast and afternoon tea. Sometimes it can be tricky to navigate a small child, but the staff were so helpful and accommodating. It was a great stay.

Everything was perfect, from venue Authenticity and Design, to the staff perfectly attentive and also not forgetting the food prepared "a la minute" and tasty. Special thanks to my butler, to the front office director for his kind attention, for the beverages advices and for the spa. The rooms and venue are perfectly designed, respecting the spirits of the building. At the breakfast everything was fresh, the fruits, the bakery basket, the eggs, the local noodle dishes, the smoked fish, and she Signatures : Savory croissants and pancakes. The amenities in the rooms : fruits and chocolates were much appreciated. The Elephant Bar is also a very nice venue to enjoy a drink and a variety of spirits.

Absolutely in love with this hotel. It is so beautiful. I was impressed by how comfy our bed was and the service was amazing. I would say if you are visiting Phnom Penh, u must stay here for the luxury and service. The experience is like no other as well. The breakfast is not buffet style but made to order so u can still order as many thing as you want but it's all freshly made. My fav part are their detox juices and also champagne. All included in our breakfast. Thank you to my amazing travel agent Jason at Out of Office Jetsetter. He made our hotel stay experience at Raffles 100 times better. Thank you to everyone at Raffles for your amazing hospitality.

I just spent 8 nights here. I was not disappointed by the experience. The place is everything you’d expect from an “old world charm” hotel. The staff were amazing, most remembered me by name. Nothing was a problem and everything was super professional ||My suite was beautiful and serviced twice daily. Although the shower was ridiculously small, I could not fault anything else. ||I ate at all the F & B outlets. Food is great as are drinks in the Elephant Bar. They serve the most amazing local pepper cashews I’ve ever eaten. I bought 2 kg to bring home with me they were that good. ||They trade on old world nostalgia which is part of the charm and something unique in today’s same sameness of most hotels. The concierge will take on you a free history hotel of the tour which I recommend. I think the hotel is a destination in itself. ||I thoroughly enjoyed myself even though I was solo as my partner had to stay back for work. Thoroughly recommended.

Raffles Le Royal definitely deserves its 5 star rating. The hotel is excellently located in the vibrant city centre but equally feels like a calm oasis from the minute you step through the doors. The bedrooms are beautifully designed and are serviced twice per day. A definite highlight is the swimming pool area, which includes 2 large swimming pools and drinks & food can be ordered from your sun lounger. The spa, although relatively small in size, has a lovely thermal suite & gym and has an excellent range of spa treatments to choose from. Breakfast was delicious and the cocktails in the Elephant Bar were expertly crafted. All staff were very friendly, professional and helpful. A great first visit to Phnom Penh!

Google
Our stay at Raffles was a flawless experience, easily among the best I‘ve had anywhere in the world. The hotel itself is beautiful and there is so much attention to detail. The staff are all so good at the job, especially the doorman and the staff at breakfast, as well as the guest service manager Fiona. I‘d absolutely come back here and stay longer next time!
