Raffles Maldives Meradhoo (Gaafu Alifu Atoll, Maldives) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Raffles may be best known for the 19th-century urban grandeur of its original Singaporean flagship hotel, but the Raffles Maldives Meradhoo is proof that the group can confidently operate in a wide variety of luxury-hotel styles. This resort pays tribute to its heritage with a touch of colonial atmosphere, but it’s a contemporary island resort through and through — from the beachfront villas and residences on the tiny speck of an island that is Meradhoo to the overwater units anchored to the floor of the lagoon a quarter-mile boat ride away." - Tablet Hotels

Raffles Maldives is an incredible escape. The resort feels exclusive and private, like we were the only ones on the island. The service is exceptional from start to finish. Our butler went above and beyond in every way and made the stay feel effortless. The villa was beautiful with a private overwater pool, plenty of space and direct access to the clear blue water. The reef around the island is the best we’ve seen, full of marine life and easy to explore right from the villa steps. The food was excellent with thoughtful menus and attentive table service. Every meal felt special. The cocktails were amazing too, creative and perfectly matched to the relaxed island vibe. Every detail at Raffles feels carefully considered without being over the top. It’s peaceful, elegant and completely unforgettable.

We returned to Raffles after an excellent stay last year, expecting the same level of service, but this visit was less satisfying. What we loved: • F&B team – Outstanding service across all restaurants and bars, with improved menus and wider choices. • Nature & location – Remote, serene setting with pristine beaches and a lively house reef. What disappointed us: • Villa comfort – Our villa’s air conditioning was extremely noisy, making it hard to sleep. Despite escalating the issue, it wasn’t resolved. Also, not all villas have direct beach access — only Villas 1–3 do. • Butler service – This was the biggest letdown. Our butler seemed disengaged, offered little information, and didn’t proactively arrange activities. A missed dolphin cruise we had planned was poorly handled, and communication was minimal. • Inconsistent service – The dive center experience varied: sometimes welcoming, sometimes inattentive. • Guest mix & atmosphere – Expect a diverse crowd, including families with small kids, which can make public areas noisier than expected. Bottom line: Raffles has a beautiful setting, great food, and a stunning reef, but the overall guest experience no longer matches its premium price point. For the same budget, there are resorts closer to Malé with more attentive service and better value.

The whole experience was spectacular. From the moment we were greeted at the airport until we were dropped off. Nothing went wrong. Yasru, our butler was exceptional. Ali at the restaurant was fantastic. Each and every one me and my wife met were so hospitable and welcoming. The choice is selecting Raffles as our honeymoon destination was the right decision. Thank you so much for everything you did for us.

Raffles Maldives is pure luxury from start to finish. The overwater villas are incredibly spacious, beautifully designed, and offer the kind of privacy that’s hard to find even in the Maldives. Waking up to endless turquoise views felt like a dream. One of the highlights of our stay was the guided house reef snorkel with their in-house marine biologist — an amazing experience that brought us up close with vibrant coral and even a reef shark. Highly recommend booking it! If you’re looking for peace, space, and top-tier service in a breathtaking setting, Raffles is worth every moment.

It was a fantastic experience for my honeymoon. The underwater environment was so good, but the service of the staff working at Thari restaurant was not good. Especially for women like Indian with big eyes and hijab, the service was really bad. It looked like Indian or Middle Eastern. I think I need to improve it through my manager.

The resort is absolutely beautiful, designed to Raffles’ high standards. However, poor management and inexperienced staff can impact what should be a relaxing vacation. Sadly, you won’t get the true Raffles experience here—at least, that was our experience despite being Diamond Accor members. You’ll find significantly better value at many other luxury resorts in the Maldives.

During our stay at Raffles Maldives, the experience was exceptional from start to finish. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the staff, who provided a seamless transition from the airport to the resort, including a smooth check-in process and a welcoming coconut upon our arrival. Our butler, Yasir, ensured that we could check in early, allowing us to enjoy water activities in the morning, and offered excellent service throughout our stay. We stayed in the Ocean Villa, which was spacious, clean, and beautifully designed, offering over 2000 sq. ft. of space with its own private pool and direct ocean access. The views were breathtaking, with two shades of blue visible from our villa. The staff maintained the room to perfection, cleaning twice a day and replenishing water and towels. A special touch was the non-alcoholic sparkling wine provided for our anniversary. The resort offers a range of activities, including group tours like Manta Ray watching, Sunset Fishing, and Sandbank Snorkelling, as well as private experiences like house reef snorkelling and an uninhabited island tour. The activities were well-organized, and the staff were highly professional, with a marine biologist accompanying us on the Manta Ray trip. We also enjoyed a complimentary sunset yoga session, which was led by Anshuman, the instructor. Anshuman made the experience truly special with his professionalism and calming presence. The session was enhanced by a sound bowl, which created a peaceful and unique atmosphere. The resort’s amenities, including the pools, restaurants, and water sports facilities, were top-notch and well-maintained. The service throughout our stay was impeccable. Staff were friendly, professional, and attentive, making sure all our needs were met. Yasir, our butler, was particularly responsive and personalized our experience through WhatsApp, assisting with meal orders, activity bookings, and any other requests. The resort’s location offered the perfect escape, with stunning surroundings and a sense of privacy and tranquility, making it an ideal place for relaxation. While Raffles Maldives is a luxury resort with a higher price point, it offers excellent value for the experience it provides. The intimate atmosphere with less than 40 villas ensures exclusivity, and the resort’s commitment to sustainability, such as using reusable containers for amenities and eliminating plastic waste, was a notable highlight. Overall, we highly recommend Raffles Maldives for its incredible service, beautiful surroundings, and unforgettable experiences, and we look forward to returning in the future, possibly for diving.
