Hold me back - I could spend hours upon hours in this place, cracking myself up over the silly throwback t's and crafting a trendy wardrobe for my hipster alter-ego.
I really appreciate how clean and organized it is compared to the Little Five location. The regular items are always well organized on separate racks by category (i.e. dresses, t-shirts, pants). Don't get me wrong - it's still overwhelming to dig through the chaos of clothing items to find the quirky treasures like the "Have you hugged a Dutch girl today?" t-shirt that I stumbled upon on one of my more successful trips. But that's what makes thrift shopping so magical. They really do have a great selection of what I can only assume to be Buckhead hand-me-downs.
I came for the $1 sale a few months ago in March and had to fight really hard to practice some self discipline. We got there right when it opened, and let me tell you the crowd was fierce. I was truly tempted to grab shirts and skirts and accessories by the armful. I felt like I was in a race or competitive event. Quirky pieces available for cheap make for hungry eyes and feisty elbows...talk about the thrill of the hunt! That type of shopping is not for the faint of heart, I tell you.
When I came in a few weeks ago to check out the offerings for Halloween, they had the costume-y pieces sorted out by theme, from military to ethnic and everything in between. I picked up a unicorn headpiece and two non-Halloween baggy sweaters that sucked me in with their less than $10 price tags and seasonal appeal. Let's just say they had me seeing visions of myself curled up with a pumpkin flavored coffee beverage, and I couldn't walk away without them. My friend was absolutely enchanted by a more luxurious item - a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier tassel dress. She was on the fence due to the $100+ price, but she could't pass up such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The sweet and stylish female employees couldn't help but encourage her to indulge in the designer purchase, emphasizing the magnificence of the gorgeous piece. They were happy to tell us a little bit about the story behind the clothes - a woman came in with a slew of designer pieces she just didn't need anymore. They were fun for a while, but they had their time in the spotlight with her. Needless to say, my friend overcame the sticker shock and gave into the temptation for the sake of fashion.
In summary, this secondhand store is tops on my list of consignment stores in ATL. The logical layout makes vintage shopping slightly less overwhelming, the fashionable staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the selection is pretty darn sweet for a batch of leftovers.
