Great place to get food slope side. Wife and I skied in and went to Ragnar's. The elk burger was great, and server Aspyn was very attentive.

The service was great! the caesar salad was very good and the grilled cheese was very good as well. However the french onion soup was disappointing. I have had french onion soup all over the world and this was far below par. But it was very nice to get away from the crowd!!

Ragnars is a wonderful restaurant! My favorite in steamboat. The slayride dinner is once in a lifetime experience

Not good for large groups. Good can't out cold or over cooked. Disappointed. Elk burgers were ordered medium rare. What a waste!

We had lunch today at this restaurant as a well-deserved treat after a morning of exhilarating skiing. And “treat” is the right word. The food was absolutely delicious; beautifully presented; clearly made from the finest ingredients. You MUST make a reservation!!! This is a 10/10 restaurant and all in my Family agree!!!

Great place to sit and relax while having a good meal. Really enjoy the extra space between tables and not being on top of each other.

Great service for a quick beer on the outdoor yurt during a heavy, and cold, snowfall. Amazing powder and fun atmosphere. Loved the beer tap collection - all locals. 🙌💯

My favorite restaurant on the mountain, since Hazy’s shut down. The staff is very friendly and efficient. There’s always a good vibe. There’s not much to mention about the food. It’s not bad, but it’s not great either, but I suppose it’s what’s to be expected for an on mountain restaurant so sort of hard to knock them down too much. Our server from Atlanta/Kennesaw was very friendly. She has a cool story and we caught her dancing a few times for no reason too. Having fun while working. We enjoyed it.

Yelp
After skiing all morning this is the best pace to rest your ski legs. Only accessible by skiing from the south mountain at Steamboat Mountain. Named after a famous ski jumper Ragnar's offers Scandinavian menu! The Onion Soup cannot be missed! Legendary Bloody Mary's! The Ruben is also delish! The service is great. Get there early because there is usually a wait.

Amber E.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to eat on the mountain, at the Rendezvous Lodge. And it specializes in Scandinavian food, which is really unique. This time, we got an order of the Swedish meatballs as an appetizer, which was delicious. My friend and I shared the burger with sautéed mushrooms and onions, which was great, and our friend got the Weinerschnitzel, veal cutlets, which was big portion, and great! Came back the next day and tried the seafood soup, which was amazing - like a clam chowder, but even more seafood. We weren't a big fan of the French onion soup (WAY too salty) or chicken noodle soup (tasted like from a can), and smoked salmon sandwich was just ok. But plenty of good food and drinks. Ordered an Irish Coffee and mulled wine. Which were both really good. The Bloody Mary looked amazing, too!

Kelly B.

Yelp
Came here for a mid day snack after riding! Staff was friendly and it was super cozy in there. I only had the seafood chowder which was the best I've ever had! Can't wait to go back just for that soup

Khalid S.

Yelp
I'm not sure why this place has a 4 dollar sign. Given how much I typically spend on lunch at a resort, it wasn't that much different. And it was one of the best resort meals I've ever had. Get the half smoked salmon BLT (no jam) and seafood soup, and go to heaven. The coffee was great too. Afterwards, head up one floor outside for the scene to be seen (or see).

Daniel F.

Yelp
Great service, hit and miss on food. French onion soup - reheated - not normal French onion soup - clumpy cheese. Sweet potato fries - burnt and overdone. She replaced with great regular shoestring. Great lamb burger.

Lauren B.

Yelp
For on mountain dining in steamboat you really can't do better than Ragnars (but also stop by the four points hut for a pot pie). For years this was where my family dined for lunch on Christmas Day and any special event we had. The soups here are always delicious especially the golden onion soup. This restaurant is all around Scandinavian so glogg at Christmas time is a must but it is always on the menu. It's a special Scandinavian mulled wine that they get perfect at Ragnars. Steamboat has a rich Norwegian history which you definitely experience at Ragnars. You need a reservation to dine here covid or not, so plan ahead. Treat yourself!

Claire C.

Yelp
Great view. Highly recommend their salmon BLT sandwich. Best place for lunch on the mountain!

Yelp
Went to dinner here on Saturday, December 30, 2017 with my husband. Because it was the holiday season dates the cost was $99 plus whatever alcohol we ordered (I feel we should have at least got one free drink with that price tag). This is more than dinner it is an experience. Go with people you like to talk with and experience stuff with. If you don't it can seem boring or drawn out. You go on the Gondola up the mountain where you are shuttled to a waiting room with hot chocolate and to find out which sleigh you are on. If you can, try for sleigh 1. They get to go up first, sit down to dinner first, served first and leave first. You start with a sampler platter. Cheese and assorted meat. Decent. Then comes soup. YUM! potato and leek soup was sooo good. Third is a salad. Simple and light. A sorbet palate cleanser follows before your entree. The entree is the only item you get to choose. My husband got the Storfekjott, which is Coffee Marinated Petite Filet, Rosti Potato (tasted and looked like a hash brown), Asparagus, Smoked Tomato Coulis, Bearnaise, Chive Oil. DELICIOUS! I ordered the Laks, which is Seared Salmon Filet, Lobster Fritter, Lentils, Cucumber, Radish, Squid Ink Aioli, Caviar, Dill. We both didn't care for this dish. I love a good baked salmon, but this smoked version tasted so fishy and game to us we got only two bites in. However, the waiter noticed one plate was polished clean and the other untouched so he offered to box us up the Elk (Elg) dish to go. I really appreciated it because we had a fixed price and had 2 bites of one dish. Finally came dessert. Chocolate fondue with fruit, cake, and cookies to dip. Sweet and perfect. The whole time we had live music and the ambiance was lively and full of good times. One big group was celebrating a birthday and they were a hoot! Singing a long with music and a couple started dancing. My husband and I were the only group that were just 2. It was a lot of bigger groups. The sleigh ride was fun, but chilly! Take those blankets and bundle up. 4 out of 5 for the experience 3 out of 5 for food (You gotta like those pre fixed menus) 5 out of 5 for service. The people were great!

Yelp
I'd highly recommend Ragnar's to anyone wanting a fine dining experience in Steamboat. The food was all simply delicious. I have Celiac and they were able to make every meal gluten free for me & I did not get sick after eating here. 10/10 experience.

Mark M.

Yelp
This was seriously the greatest experience we had while in Steamboat. My wife broke her wrist a few days before we did this but it wasn't an issue. The sleigh ride was fun and the food was great. The view on the way up is is incredible! Highly recommend this to anyone in the area for a romantic date night or just good fun!

Nadiyah S.

Yelp
The food was absolutely fantastic and memorable. The service was exquisite! However, if the temperature drops below 30°, please avoid the "open carriage sleigh ride" up there. My fiancé and I are still shivering. It's the coldest I've ever been in life....and those blankets they rave about do nothing but keep the cold near you. We dined here Thursday, February 15th as we were nearing the end of our annual ski trip to the area. The trip up was cold (12°) and windy and just our luck, we sat right in the mist path and we were snowed on for :25+ minutes as we headed up the mountain inhaling diesel fumes. On the way down was even worse if you can imagine. I've never shivered so violently. All we could do was just throw those thin blankets over our entire bodies and pray to reach the gondola sooner than later. Who knows what the temperature was, my phone no longer responded to my fingers. Once we reached the "warmth" of the non heated gondola, all I could do was cry. I wanted this dinner to be super special and memorable since we were celebrating the halfway mark of my pregnancy. Turns out, only bad memories. 3 stars because the food and service were superb.

Yelp
Great atmosphere. Gondola / sleigh ride to the restaurant provided memorable views. excellent music with dinner. Food was quite good - very nice variety for a one seating / night restaurant Definitely a special event ... take some friends and enjoy

Bobby R.

Yelp
Ragnars is a wonderful restaurant! My favorite in steamboat and the slayride dinner is a once in a life experience

Yelp
Great place for a sit down meal before heading back on the slopes. Prices are comparable to the offering in the cafeteria above, but includes waiter service and your own table! YAY! Food: Salmon BLT was nosh worthy, and the warm bread they serve you as you sit down after getting out of the snow is soft and chewy. Definitely a welcome change to a pack lunch or cafeteria food.

David M.

Yelp
Good food, great service at a decent price. The Rueben sandwich is to kill for. Sit at the bar and be served by Mark and Paige. Would definitely recommend.

Andy W.

Yelp
Starting on the positives - the food was quite good, though perhaps not as good as the Asian food counter upstairs which makes a great panang curry. On the negatives, lunch took an hour and a half. Our waiter took our order 20 minutes after sitting down, and the first food started to arrive 30 minutes later. All in, the experience took 90 minutes for a pretty basic order.

Nelson W.

Yelp
The filet was unbelievably good. Staff is so knowledgeable. Service was exquisite. The sleigh ride was magical, clear skies, shooting stars, and a Justin was a great star guide. Thank you for an amazing night.

Matt Q.

Yelp
I can't imagine an experience here being anything other than a fantastic adventure. Ragnar's is on the mountain at Steamboat Springs: you'll need to ski/snowboard to it, or else take a sleigh ride from the top of the gondola. Great drinks, great food, far beyond normal ski slope fare.

M S.

Yelp
Hands down, the sleigh-ride dinner to Ragnar's was unbeatable. They had hot chocolate and hot apple cider after the Gondola ride up. The sleigh ride was really fun, the atmosphere at Ragnar's... a perfect escape from downtown Steamboat Springs. We went up in the middle of February and it was wonderful. Duck confit, nice martinis, delicious moscato (spelled wrong on the menu) and chocolate fondue for dessert. Our server was great and attentive, the drinks were strong, and the live music played by the guitarist/singer made the entire evening special. This is a pricey dinner (about $150 per person, all in), but well worth it if you are celebrating - want to be romantic - or just need a peaceful escape for a few hours. A+ (p.s. - loved the foil swans the waitress made for the leftovers!)

Clara A.

Yelp
The sleigh ride to the restaurant was amazing! The service was excellent! And the food was delicious!!

Alan G.

Yelp
This review applies to the sleigh ride dinner. I've frequented Ragnar's for lunch several times and had a positive experience each time. That was not our luck last night for my first sleigh ride dinner. My disappointment was shared by all four of our dinner guests. The staff was very very friendly but I felt each was "green," not very experienced. Delays between courses were too long. My pork chop entree was especially disappointing. It was over-cooked, dry and very thin. My other guests had the petite filet which was satisfactory but cooked beyond the requested medium-rare. The soup and salad course was just OK. The level of service provided getting to Ragnar's, including the sleigh ride was very good so that part of the experience was favorable. Bottom line, the actual dinner experience was quite disappointing.

Alden G.

Yelp
Best Bloody Mary on the mountain. And a great hot Gluhvine. And Salmon salad. Had my engagement dinner at Ragnars, so it's always a good memory to stop in! See you next winter!

Grant A.

Yelp
What fun! Ride the gondola then board a sleigh for a 15 or so minute ride. (highly organized) Arrive at the restaurant and you're greeted with a magnificent, modern twist on Norwegian classics. Sure to please all.

Jannine O.

Yelp
If you are anywhere near Steamboat, book the snowcat sleigh ride with 5 course dinner at Ragnar's. All inclusive and easy to navigate. We headed out to Mountain Village to watch sunset and the skiers. At 6 pm, we checked in and boarded the gondola for a twinkling - glowing view over the valley as we went up the mountain. We were then herded into Hazies for a drink with views over Steamboat Springs. We were assigned a sleigh number and enjoyed ourselves. Nobody came to get us so we missed our assigned sleigh.(only reason I did not give a 5 rating). No worries, took our blankets and bundled in on other sleigh. Enjoyed a guided tour up the mountain with magical views of the pristine trails and trees covered with snow. We reached the glow of Ragnar's where all the waiters were lined up at the window waving us in. We were seated in a cozy booth and promptly attended to with appetizer course already waiting. We choose the elk and duck as entrees as well as soup and salad courses. Definitely one of top meals I have ever had in my life. Seriously. And when we thought we would burst, a decadent chocolate fondu arrives. In the background was a acoustic guitar and singer just perfect for the setting. Very romantic. Incredible experience. Go for it, will not disappoint.

Randy W.

Yelp
Did the sleigh ride to Ragnar's last night. I was initially skeptical that the food would warrant the $80 per person price tag. Boy was I surprised! We had a fabulous 5 course meal in a delightful setting including live music. Service was excellent too. I selected the elk steak entree which was easily the best I've ever had. All told quite a special evening.

Shawn C.

Yelp
It didn't hurt that we got engaged on the sleigh ride up, but honestly, the food was fantastic. The sea bass was tender on the inside and and had a lovely light crispy texture on the outside. And my brand new fiancé loved the sorbet served to clear your palette. Thank you for a beautiful night to celebrate the beginning of the rest of our lives together!

Nicole E.

Yelp
Jon was an excellent server the hostess and was kind and helpful. Overall a great experience. Decor is outdated but, that's pretty typical for a ski chalet/lodge restaurant. Beat pear salad is to die for but, overall the kind wait staff makes this restaurant A+!

Milkey S.

Yelp
When you are up on the mountain, where else are you going to go? it's not like there are a lot of choices. That being said, this place did a good job gettiing hardy food and drinks to hungry, cold and tired skiiers.

Jim O.

Yelp
Went on sleigh ride dinner. Food was mediocre, not worth the cost. More of a gimmick, if you want a night ride in a sled pulled by a snowcat you might enjoy the experience but don't go for the food. Dress warm it gets very cold and there is a lot of snow thrown up by the snowcat.

Scott A.

Yelp
Wow! Went to dinner here for the first time on Sunday night. What a great experience! The service was impeccable, and while Colby was our waiter, everyone including the chef came to our table at some point during the seemingly endless flow of incredible food and wine! We watched the snow cats grooming outside the windows as the sun set and listened to the live music. I can't recommend this amazing experience highly enough! Every bite we took was better than the last!

Awbrey G.

Yelp
I went to Ragnar's for the Friday night 5 course meal. The night started perfectly with a gondola ride, and from there, a snow cat took us to the restaurant. It was such a great start to the evening. The guide who rode with everyone on the snow cat was very knowledgeable and also happened to be the bartender at the restaurant. Every single course of the meal was amazing, from the salad and mushroom soup, to the wine and the elk that I ordered. I usually would have gone for the filet or salmon, but our waiter highly recommended it, and it was absolutely fantastic!! If you have the opportunity, order the elk! It was like a filet but tasted somehow cleaner. Our ride back was clear so we could see the stars and also saw some spectacular views of the town. This experience was unforgettable.

Niki S.

Yelp
Great service and a great experience overall. Take the nighttime sleigh ride and enjoy a wonderful dinner.

Mike N.

Yelp
Very nice place to stop for lunch while skiing. It's so relaxing to have your own table, instead of being packed in like cattle in the cafeteria area. The food was excellent, and not much more than the "chow line" fare.

Gail N.

Yelp
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!! As locals, we never eat on the mountain but we were invited by some friends to join them at Ragnars for lunch. it was one of the most pleasant experiences we've ever had at a restaurant. it helps our family is of Scandinavian descent and we absolutely loved the food. I had the Swedish meatballs which were a 10 plus and my husband had the Wienerschnitzel. he too thought his meal was a 10 plus. Try it on a day of skiing, but I think you probably need reservations...ENJOY!!!

Kenny C.

Yelp
Great lunches while skiing. The pulled pork Burrito is great and so was the Burger with Avocado, cheese and bacon....forgot name. Haven't had a bad thing yet.

Justin C.

Yelp
If I go on the mountain, I stop at Ragnar's for a local brew and a bowl of fisk soup. The French Onion Soup isn't too shabby either! Great place to take a break and wait a snow band out. Get there early, they close sooner than you think. A bit pricy, but hey, you're skiing in Steamboat... Who cares? A must stop if you ski Wally World.

Michael L.

Yelp
Been eating lunch here for years during ski season. Food is great, probably 4 star, and reasonably priced given the location. Staff is attentive and friendly. When you consider the great location and atmosphere, I give it 5 star. On a snowy day, with the view of the slopes and the cozy atmosphere, the feeling of winter wonderland is hard to reproduce.

David C.

Yelp
I have frequented this establishment for many years. It has for the most part been consistently good, with great drinks and very good service. In past years I would have rated Ragnar's a 4 on a scale of 5. For the 2014/2015 season however, Ragnar's has raised the bar. Now totally 5's across the board on menu, food, presentation, drinks and service.
