14 Best Beaches in Thailand

"You’ve probably seen this beach splashed on Thailand adverts for the past decade. It’s extremely popular, but for good reason. Accessible only by boat, its towering limestone cliffs on either side make for epic vacation shots and serious rock climbing. Swimming on the west side of the beach is possible, but the striking landscapes are the main draw here." - Katie Lockhart Katie Lockhart Katie is a freelance travel and food journalist specializing in luxury brands and hotels. Beautiful beach make sure you stay at least one night to enjoy its real beauty with no tourist. Most of the boats leave around 5pm. One of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve seen. Sand sea resort in a great location.

Shameful how the Thais have treated one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Keep meeting Thais who wonder where all the tourists have gone . Well I won't be back until they take they're refuse collection seriously. Have been coming to Thailand for 40 years and it is getting progressively much filthier . Railay was clean and stunning even up to 2005 . Now it resembles a rubbish tip . It was too disgusting to sit on the beach and I dread to think what was in the water

Railay is a must see when in Krabi. The entire place looks and feels like one of the Thai islands. Due to the rocks, it can only be reached by boat. Longtail boats go from Ao Nang for 200 baht return tickets. They go until 18:00. Highly recommended for the paradise-like views.

If you arrive around 10 AM, you can enjoy a peaceful and quiet beach—perfect for relaxing and laying down anywhere you like. However, I wouldn’t recommend staying for sunset; it wasn’t as impressive compared to Ao Nang.

A slice of paradise you have to earn Railay Beach is one of those places that feels like a secret—despite being wildly popular. Tucked between dramatic limestone cliffs and turquoise waters, it’s only accessible by boat, which adds to its hidden-island charm. No cars, no chaos—just jungle paths, soft sand, and sea breeze. The beach itself is stunning. West Railay has the postcard-perfect stretch of sand: wide, clean, and ideal for sunset-watching. East Railay is more rugged, lined with mangroves and chill bars—great for a drink with a view. And don’t miss nearby Phra Nang Cave Beach, just a short walk away. It’s smaller, often more crowded, but worth it for the mystical cave shrine and climbing cliffs. Getting there is part of the fun (or adventure): • From Krabi Town or Ao Nang, you’ll need to take a long-tail boat, which usually takes about 15–20 minutes. Boats leave frequently during the day, but note that rides can get a little bumpy depending on the tides. • If you’re coming from Ao Nang, you can buy tickets directly on the beach (cash only), and you’ll likely share the ride with fellow sun-chasers. • Pack light—you’re getting off the boat into the water! What makes Railay special is its balance: you can spend the morning kayaking or rock climbing, the afternoon napping under a palm tree, and the evening sipping a coconut mojito as the sun melts into the sea. It’s laid-back, naturally beautiful, and just adventurous enough to feel like you earned your beach day.

Beautiful beach, surrounded by some kind of limestone. Reaching here from Ao Nang via a long tail boat with 200 THB fare for return which will take around 10 minutes. Beside the beach, There are some chalets and resorts available to stay. Lot of restaurants, cafe, bar, massage, tattoo and souvenir. Like a very complete small town. There are also a lot of tourists here. Main transportation here is walking. There are also few other beaches available apart from the main one. Totally a great experience

Must visit at least once if u r in Krabi. Ticket booths r available along the Ao Nang beach front and u need to buy 200 Baht for 2 way long tail boat tickets. Shuttle truck from the booth ticket to the boat pier is provided. U will get off at Railay West and use same spot to eait for ur boat back to Ao Nang. Railay East pier go to other part of Krabi. Railay Phra Nang beach is popular for swim and also the penis cave. Walking street is photogenic.

We took a long tail boat from Ao Nang beach. The boats arrive on Railay beach West where the scenery is great and this beach is really very good for swimming but not for snorkeling. I think that there is no sea life close to the coast because of the many boats that are arriving and departure. From their you can take the walking streat with many restaurants and shops, and to arrive on the Railay beach East. This beach is not good for swimming, but from there you can reach Phra Nang beach. Phra Nang beach is a very beautiful place and it is suitable for swimming. We understood that when the water level is low, you can walk or swim to Ko Rang Nok - the nearby islind. Unfortunately, we arrived at the Phra Nang beach when a thunderstorm started and couldn't stay to swim and sunbathing.
