Rainbow Country Bed & Breakfast

My wife and I spent a night there recently, and we loved the time we had. It was homey, comfortable, and it just felt like a haven from the world. Excellent base for side trips into other incredible scenic locations and national parks. Highly recommended. Loved Clark & Catherine!

After staying at Rainbow with my wife Nina in Nov 2024, I returned to Escalante solo in April 2025 for a 3-day intro to canyoneering course with Excursions of Escalante (EoE). I had another fabulous stay at Rainbow - this traditional, home-like B&B was clean and quiet as usual, and I 'slept like the dead.' The canyoneering course started each day at 08:00 sharp, and Catherine graciously accommodated my schedule to provide me with one of her delicious and filling breakfasts before heading out the door. With its great location, service, value and vibe, Rainbow has become my home away from home when in Escalante, I have no need to look anywhere else. With all the great hiking and uncomplicated canyoneering down Hole-In-The-Rock Road and elsewhere - we'll be back

My wife Nina and I had a wonderful stay with Catherine and Clark for 3 nights in October 2024. We enjoyed our clean, quiet room in their 'old school' B&B. Catherine made great breakfasts and coffee. Catherine shared a number of hiking suggestions with us, including a day hike that was a highlight of this or any other trip to Utah. There is an excellent hiking library downstairs to help with planning, supplemented with photo albums mailed to them by prior guests. We travel a lot but review seldom. Rainbow Country B&B is a gem, highly recommended.

We could not have had a better experience. The hostess, Catherine, is knowledgeable about the area and readily shares this helpful information even sharing maps and directions. We appreciated her enthusiasm, kindness, and availability. Our room was exceptionally clean with a comfortable bed and amenities provided. Catherine cleaned the room and made the bed each day. The breakfast was hot, healthy, plentiful and delicious with eggs, pancakes, French toast as examples. We would choose RCBB if in the area again and highly recommend it to others.

Rainbow Country is an oasis. Catherine’s home is a place filled with heart and soul. From the moment we arrived, there was nothing but positive energy, tranquility, and smiles. Catherine maintains the perfect balance of active host, while also allowing you your space. She has vast knowledge of the surrounding natural wonderland and is genuinely happy to share. She passionately loves her piece of the world and her insights will make your trip spectacular. The breakfast was delightful. An energizing and delicious start to our day! The room was perfect and the common area is outstanding for friends (old and new) and families, to laugh, play, and simply enjoy being around each other. Then, we escape to the privacy of our room and drift easily into a comfortable, quiet sleep. I highly recommend Rainbow Country B&B and hope I’ll be able to visit again soon. I've traveled for business and pleasure for 25 years. I've stayed in numerous places in the US and 20 other countries. This was one of the worst places I've stayed for what I paid. We showed up after dark. There weren't house numbers on some of the homes on the street and ones that did; we couldn't read in the dark. There wasn't any sign in the front yard letting us know which property was the B&B. The GPS didn't give an accurate location. We called the owner as we sat on the street in the dark, wondering which house was correct. The call went to voice mail. We knocked on the door of a home on the street, and the neighbor gave us directions. The bedroom was in the basement. There was nothing warm or comfortable about the room. The mattress was pathetic. I'm guessing the shag carpet had been on the floor for a long time. The lights in the ceiling were the fluorescent tubes you would find in an office. The bathroom was poorly designed. We could have stayed in a motel in Escalante for the same or less money and had a better room for the night.

We stayed with Cathrine and Clark several times over the years during our trips through the Southwest. Our last stay this week was as perfect as always. Cathrine is such a warmhearted host and she does everyting to satisfy their guests. The rooms are very quiet and super clean, the freshcooked breakfast each morning is really delicious and Cathrine is more than happy to provide the latest dining and hiking-recommendations to their guests.|We are looking forward to visting the Rainbow Country Inn soon again.|Sabine and Michael

This is a wonderful, easy-to-locate B&B in the heart of Escalante, Utah. Hostess Catherine is very attentive to all of her guests needs and spends time providing recommendations for where to go for hiking and other adventures in and around Escalante. She even recommends and can provide specific directions to hikes that are not listed or described in the travel books. Our room was clean, comfortable, well appointed and perfectly suited our needs for a three night stay. The breakfasts were very tasty with ample quantities and a bottomless cup of coffee. There is a large shared living room space complete with a billiards table. Don't let the weathered appearance of the home dissuade you from staying at this B&B. The rooms are comfortable, the bathrooms are clean and the breakfasts will not disappoint. This B&B is a gem and a great value. We would gladly stay here again and recommend it to family and friends planning a visit to Escalante.

We were very pleased with our stay at the Rainbow Country B&B. Catherine and Clark were wonderful hosts who provided us with a wealth of great information about the area. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The homemade breakfast was among the best I have had at B&B's. This is a great choice if you are looking for a comfortable quite and friendly place to stay in Escalante.

Catherine & Clark are truly incredible hosts and offer a bed & breakfast that feels like home. I had car trouble while in Escalante, & they were so kind & helpful. Breakfast was delicious, the room was comfortable, & they are truly wonderful people full of in depth knowledge about the area! Definitely coming back next time I'm in Escalante

This is a hidden jewel in Escalante. Catherine is a great hostess and provided us with a delicious breakfast consisting of blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs, orange juice and coffee. The best part was the conversation with Catherine and other guests at the breakfast table. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean. The ambience is a combination of a home and an inn. There is an eclectic collection of old cameras, antique art and western artifacts. And if you must connect to the outside world, Wifi is provided. This will be my goto place for future trips in the Escalante area.

The couple who runs this place was so welcoming, the breakfast was delicious and the rooms comfortable and clean. We were on our way across the US to visit family and this was a welcome rest and recharge in the middle of a long trip. She is super knowledgeable on the area suggesting hikes and trails of interest and laying out all our options with very realistic and accurate assessments of the area. She suggested a slot canyon which was so gorgeous and peaceful after a long hike in the morning. Couldn't have been happier with the stay. Felt right and home and well cared for and welcomed. Hope to be back soon for more hiking.

We wanted a clean, quiet place to stay while visiting family in Escalante. We found a real gem at Rainbow Country. The rooms were comfortable and very clean. The food that was served in the morning was wonderful. Catherine made us the best Blueberry pancakes and stuffed French Toast! Scrambled eggs with ham, green peppers, and cheese! Fresh coffee and OJ every morning. Our room was downstairs and down there was a large sitting area with 2 couches, a big flat screen TV with satellite and a pool table! If you like looking at antiques, there are many to look at. All the rooms have a private bath and each day after returning to the house we found our bath and room had been cleaned and fresh sheets put on. As others have said, if you need a recommendation on where to hike, or just where to eat in town, Catherine can draw you a map. We are looking forward to many more trips to Escalante and plan on staying here every time.

My girlfriend, our dog and I really enjoyed our three night stay. Catherine is very warm and welcoming and Clark is very nice and helpful. The beds are very comfortable, the whole house is completly spotless and Catherine makes delicious breakfasts. The common room has a pool table, TV, movies, microwave, seating area and dining area. We loved their decoration style and so many unique things to see. Watching all the humming birds from the porch was a highlight for us. Catherine gave us great recommendations for hikes and for food in and around Escalante. We will definitely stay here again!!

So grateful for the kind attention, lovely conversation, delicious food (that accommodated my diet), and great hiking recommendations. A clean, warm bed and a bathroom all to myself at a reasonable price. A great place to spend my birthday :) Thank y'all!

Clean, wonderful family breakfast, hosts know the area very well and are quite willing to share their knowledge. Lots of hikes and roads to explore. You will not be disappointed.

We just had a great stay! Catherine made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Place is very clean. Got excellent advice on where to have dinner and directions for next days' drive. Wonderful stop on scenic route from Southern California to Denver.

We just stayed here one night - but it was perfect. Great price/value. Delicious breakfast. Clean accommodations. Friendly host - and the other guests were lovely too.

We stayed here about a year ago. The couple that owns this B&B has been in the business for 20+ years and run a seamless operation. They provided us with great restaurant recommendations for dinner that night and the wife prepared a full breakfast in the morning. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom was very clean and included various bath products and bathrobes. The home is an older home but it adds to the charm. My favorite part was the flock of hummingbirds that comes to their porch for feedings each dawn and dusk. I counted over 50 hummingbirds around their several feeders and there very well could have been more.

What do you look for in a good bed and breakfast? Friendly & knowledgeable hosts, freshly prepared food, and a cozy atmosphere. Each of these three points come together in a great way at Rainbow. Hosts are very gracious and hospitable, and know a lot about the town and the surrounding area. The breakfast was simple, tasty, and wholesome ( great pancakes and eggs). The house is very inviting, and has all the amenities of home. On top of all of this, the rooms come at a great value. Catherine and her husband have built a solid lodging option for travelers and hikers alike. I highly recommend this B&B!
