9 of the Best Niagara Falls Viewpoints

"The Rainbow Bridge connects the American and Canadian sides of Niagara Falls, and it's not just for automobiles. Pedestrians can cross the bridge and enjoy the view as they go, possibly spotting a rainbow or two in the mist. Note that you do need a passport to cross this bridge, and there's a $1 toll. If you're interested in shopping, duty-free shops line both ends of the bridge." - Travel + Leisure Editors

We crossed back into the US using the Rainbow Bridge. It was so easy and the views of the falls was amazing. Going through customs was simple and efficient. All you have to do is answer honestly, follow common-sense rules and show a valid passport. The merge afterwards was easy as well. We took my mother to Niagara Falls for her birthday and was thought it would be too complicated and that's why she never visited. Even she said it was easy and she thought it was cool and simple. I'd highly recommend going to the Ontario side. You get an excellent view of the bridge and the falls. On top of that, the people in Canada were so friendly that we would definitely want to come back. Next time we'll take the Rainbow Bridge in for the view of the falls and Ontario.

Google
Amazing views, ngl the Canadian side was a better angle of the falls. It's only $1 to cross over and all I needed was my passport and rabies certification for my dog. Highly recommend walking over if you're visiting

The Rainbow Bridge serves as a connection between the US and Canada, but it feels like more than just another border crossing. The views from the bridge are stunning. Even if you’re not driving, you can simply walk across to enjoy the falls from the US side.

Google
The Rainbow Bridge is a must if you're visiting Niagara Falls! Crossing between the USA and Canada was incredibly easy. The customs process was straightforward—officers only checked our passports/visas and took photos (no baggage scans or X-rays like at airports). The Canadian customs officers were notably friendlier than the U.S. side, which made the experience even better. And the views? Absolutely stunning! You get a panoramic look at both falls while walking or driving across. If you have the chance, definitely cross this bridge—it’s seamless, scenic, and worth every second. A highlight of our trip!

It was a lovely sight to behold as the bridge and Niagara Falls coexisted in harmony. This was one of my favorite trips as the bridge connected the countries to each other.

Google
First time through bridge just to go to Canada for dinner. Awesome walking experience. On way back we waited 40 mins on the bridge to see the fireworks at 10 that happens everyday. Don’t miss it. Best view is from Bridge.

Google
This is the world famous Rainbow bridge that connect Canada and United States over the Niagara River. This is the only connection you will see in this vicinity and you should have a passport and necessary border control visas and papers to cross the border from one side to the other side. Pedestrians can cross the bridge on foot while motorists can cross the border by their vehicles. It is amazing to see Niagara falls from this giant bridge.

If you have children, this is definitely a place worth visiting. We went over the weekend, and although it was a bit busy, everything else was excellent. The Elf School was a particular highlight—my son absolutely loved it.

Yelp
This is one of those breathtaking, once-in-a-lifetime views. If you're here, don't miss your chance to walk across and take this in. Since this is a border crossing and access point into Canada, YOU DO NEED a valid passport or enhanced to even get on the bridge, but it's free otherwise. We crossed in the middle of the day but I'm sure sunset, sunrise or any other time is just as beautiful. The US side has the national park and Canada side has some gardens, restaurants, attractions, gift shops, etc. but if you're on foot, I'd say you can see all of it on both sides in 4-5 hours (not including boat tours of the falls below) and everything is within like 2-3 square miles in either direction of the bridge.

Yelp
Connecting two countries is quite the impressive feat. Rainbow Bridge connects Niagara Falls, USA to Niagara Falls, Canada. You can view this from several places within Niagara Falls State Park, the river, and from within town. On the USA side there is a Duty Free area before you enter the bridge. Pay close attention when driving this way as you only have one last chance to exit before going across the bridge. If you go across the bridge you will need your passport. My big tip, take this in from the observation tower at the Maid of the Mist. You get the best view, or even from down below.

Yelp
When you're in Niagara Falls you will probably see the Rainbow Bridge. It's not a multicolored bridge, but a pedestrian and vehicle bridge that connects Canada and the US. This is a legal border crossing and you'll have to go through customs in the US and Canada. You'll need to have your passport (and any visas you might need for each country). Crossing as a pedestrian from NY to Canada is free and the reverse route costs $1 but make sure you have cash; there is a machine to get the change from if needed. Rainbow Bridge is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Typically, there are no delays in crossing on foot but traffic can impact delays crossing via car; especially during the holidays. The Rainbow Bridge is also a great location for viewing the Falls & Friday night fireworks.

Yelp
While in the Niagara Falls area we had the chance to admire the Rainbow Bridge. This bridge is the gateway between the two cities of Niagara Falls on each side of the river. You can cross the bridge by auto, on foot or bicycle 24/7 every day of the year. It's a great location for viewing Niagara Falls and the Niagara River.

Yelp
One of the spectacular bridges that joins the Ontario and New York that allows transfer between the United States and Canada, the Rainbow Bridge crosses the Niagara River immediately downstream from Niagara Falls. It gets the mist and water spray from the nearby falls makes it a frequent location for spotting rainbows. It carries New York route 955A and Ontario Regional Road 420. The bridge has two lanes in each direction and it permits pedestrians and bicycles to cross the border. Commercial vehicles are not allowed. While it is a great option for the border, it's located in downtown Niagara near the busiest tourist spots on both sides of the border. Today it was a mess with traffic on the Canada side backed up through downtown and at least three miles back to the highway. Lots of people wanting to get into the USA and not enough open CBP lanes. I decided NOT to cross today, spending the day exploring Niagara and driving over first thing Monday morning when there was almost no traffic. Before getting close to Niagara, check the travel times on https://www.ezbordercrossing.com/list-of-border-crossings/new-york/. If you have a NEXUS card, you can use the Whirlpool bridge a couple miles north (downriver). The Peace Bridge or the Lewiston/Queenston Bridge are also excellent options. Yelp
Amazing bridge with a lovely view of Niagara Falls. Customs was quick and efficient on both sides each time we crossed. It has its name due to the rainbows that commonly form from the mist of the falls.

Yelp
The bridge that goes between US and Canada. There's a few last stop stores for duty free but you can't buy and go back to the county, you have to cross.

Yelp
I was an undergraduate when I crossed the Rainbow Bridge with a friend by car to spend a day in Buffalo. I hadn't been back crossing this bridge until recently. My original plan was to stay in Buffalo for a couple of days last month. I was attending a concert in the same city. However, hotel prices were ridiculously high that I went cheaper. Apparently, staying in Niagara Falls, NY is much cheaper. So, I did and needed to cross this bridge to get to my hotel. What I like about this bridge is that it doesn't accept trucks. Cars and pedestrian cans cross this bridge, provided that you have the proper identification to enter both Canada and the United States. I saw a few pedestrians head over to the US side with me. I had no problem driving over and speaking to a US border agent. I recently got my Canadian passport renewed. I used it to cross this bridge in either direction. I have a NEXUS card, but it needed my passport details updated. I wanted to do that at Toronto Pearson International Airport because I knew that process better than at a border crossing. I had a friendly man when I was crossing over this bridge to head over to the US. I let him know that I was attending a concert that evening. He asked if I was coming back home immediately after it. I decided to stay for a couple of days. I wanted to bring back a t-shirt that I got at the concert. There was a place for me to park once I was in New York state. I needed to swap out my SIM from my phone. It's cheaper for me to use a SIM for the US than to roam with my Canadian plan. Re-entering Canada through this bridge crossing was a bit different. You first have a toll to pay. It's $5 USD or $6.50 CAD. I was lucky to have the former. I rarely have money on me. I don't know if you can pay the toll with a credit or debit card. I then spoke with a nice female border agent before entering Canada. It was straightforward and smooth. There was a place for me to park next to a small money exchange place once I was back in Canada. I swapped out my SIM and then kept on driving. You do get a nice view of both sides of Niagara Falls when you cross this bridge. I'm not sure if I'll ever have a chance to do the pedestrian crossing. I like that you can be a tourist while crossing it. (140)

Yelp
Connecting the two cities of Niagara Falls [New York U.S.A. and Ontario CANADA] We didn't get a chance to experience the Rainbow Bridge on foot while visiting Canada but we were able to drive across entering and leaving Ontario (just have your passport with you when crossing the bridge). Our visit was in June and traffic flow was constant. We had some wait time at the border entry but we didn't care... we were too excited to visit this side of the country. Also, they don't stamp your passport anymore. This bridge connected the Niagara Falls from the New York and the Ontario side. Prior to its current name the bridge was called the Honeymoon Bridge (or lesser known Falls View Bridge). There are plaques on the Canada side that shares a little history of the bridge. Part of it mentioned that "... it stood until January 27, 1938, when an ice jam pushed the bridge off its abutments and it collapsed onto the ice in the river." The Honeymoon Bridge lasted 40 years before it collapsed. Visitors of the Niagara Falls from both sides of the countries can get a nice view of the Rainbow Bridge. We were able to get a different angle viewing from below on the Niagara River when we took a boat tour from the Canada side. Also, a different angle viewing from the Niagara Falls State Park on the US side. Cool history behind the bridge. Review #3018

Yelp
I love waking across the Rainbow Bridge. The view is so beautiful. I like to take my time & keep stopping to look at both of the Niagara Falls at the same time. They're so gorgeous. It's only about a 10 minute walk or more if you keep stopping like I do. I feel safe on it & it's not very busy with walkers, but cars , yes. Take a walk sometime across it, and bring your camera !

Yelp
We stayed in a hotel two minutes from the NY State entrance onto the Rainbow Bridge, and used it to enter Canada three times over the weekend: twice to visit the Canadian side of the Falls where you have the best view of Horseshoe Falls, and once to drive up to Toronto (North York) to pick up our son and bring him back to PA. It was quickly accessible with short lines entering Ontario, equally short coming back at night, and with both sides customs officers pleasant to deal with. But, convenience does not magic make, and it finally dawned on me why the name, "Rainbow Bridge?" True, the arch suspension engineering gave it a suggestion of a span connected via air to two countries representing hope and dreams anchored to reality. Yet, when I stood along the edge of the precipice on the Canadian side, and watched the massive aquamarine jewel agua plunge over the edge, to crash and spray up huge amounts of mist, that when viewed from my vantage point created huge rainbows, with the bridge mirroring the shape in ROY G BIV colors below downstream; it dawned on me that those were the real rainbows that created the name for the span, not just the shape of the architecture itself. It was only at that moment of recognition that the true magic revealed itself.

Yelp
One of the most iconic bridges connecting US and Canada . Normally crowded .. we didn't use this bridge to go to Canada and used the other one . While coming back we used rainbow as it was 9ish in the night . Very quick entry .. love the views from rainbow bridge . Overall a very nice experience..

Yelp
Scenic view of Niagara Falls either walking or driving (notably when driving from Canada into US since there won't be vehicles blocking your view). However, the wait times for border entry are pretty bad. Took us 30-40min for each direction. Each time there were only 4 lanes/booths open, which made the long line of cars move very slowly.

Yelp
We are close by so decide to take a trip to Niagara Falls from the US side. If you want to walk the pedestrian bridge, read the following: 1) Before you go through the turnstiles, make sure you have your documents to ensure you are allowed to return to US. Documents included enhanced license, passport book/card, Nexus card or green card. 2) If you want to enter Canada, make sure you have all of the following items including a negative test within the last 72 hours, vaccination document with a quarantine plan or if not vaccinated 14 day quarantine, and get covid test when directed. 3) There is also a sign of $1 toll per person though I didn't see a box nor did I pay anyone. From a previous trip, I recall if you are coming from the Canadian side you have to pay $1 before going through the turnstile. The distance from parking lot to the bridge and back is about a mile. Walking the bridge takes about 5 minutes if you don't stop and take pictures. With the view, how can you not stop and enjoy the views. If the day is windy, you might want to hang on or put away any loose items since it will easily take flight. If you want to enter Canada, be prepared to wait since there can potentially be a long line. Return trip, you wait at a lock door until the border officers are ready for you. They ask you some questions, take a picture without your mask and hat then you are back in the States. Enjoy if you go.

Yelp
International bridge between USA and Canada, we crossed back and forth numerous times during our stay in Niagra Falls. $5 fee going into Canada (I'm going to assume they split it?), no fee going into the States. Give yourself some time to get over the bridge, and for whatever reason- going into the States always took much longer than getting into Canada. Saturday morning it took 40 minutes! And we checked the other bridges, all were about the same wait. Yes- you can see live wait times online. I have to admit, I wanted the Rainbow Bridge to be colorful, but it's not. Have you $$$ and passports ready and answer some quick questions.

Yelp
On a trip to Niagara Falls, I was able to walk the Rainbow Bridge. It is a structure between the US and Canada. Don't make this walk unless you have your passport because you can leave without showing it, but need it to check in on the other side and to return back to the states. The walk is really scenic on a beautiful day. You can view Niagara Falls and the coast of both countries. The walk takes about 10-15 minutes. In the middle of the bridge, I took a photo opportunity to show I was in two countries at once. That was cool.

Yelp
We're American citizens who were staying in Niagara Falls Canada, but we went over to the American side of Niagara Falls for a few hours. After a ton of research and personal recommendations, we decided that the Rainbow Bridge was the easier way to cross. And it definitely was. You can see live wait times online. We waited 15 minutes or less on each side. The process was super easy, and the border patrol officer when we went back into Canada was super friendly. He even gave recommendations of places to visit. We considered walking because we were told it's a short walk, but we're glad we drove. The bridge itself is a short walk, but getting to the attractions (Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds) is a bit farther. I would definitely recommend driving. Obviously have your passport. Also fill out your information on the Arrive Can app beforehand.

Yelp
We walked over the bridge and...yet another breathtaking view of The Niagara Frontier! Walking across an international border is thrilling to me...like living in the days before automobiles, when we had to live by our wits. Fortunately my wits kept us walking forward toward the USA, without dalliance or frolic. The bridge was also empty of pedestrians, which allowed The Lovely and Gracious Mrs. Yelper and I to walk leisurely and enjoy our last view of The Falls. Farewell, Niagara. You are too dear for my possessing.
google avatar

Lizzie B.

Yelp
The bridge was a fun experience to walk over the water, view the falls, and enter Canada. There is a sign in the middle of the bridge that shows you the US side and the Canada side. The only issue we had was the guy on the Canada side who checked passports. He was very rude, and put a damper on the whole experience. Demanded that we remove sunglasses so he could check the photos on our passports. We understood why, but to be so rude about it, was ridiculous. Especially since there were only two of us at the checkpoint.

Yelp
Excellent walking access to & from Canada if going there to see Niagara Falls. This bridge is huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge from the ground up. For those that are afraid if heights, don't cling close to the rail- it is a long way down. Don't even think about messing around up here. From the New York side, its $10 to park in the Welcome Centre parking lot. However, if you want to be a moron, park on in the casino garage that us across the street, and pay $30. Its up to you. It costs $1 USD to cross the bridge back into the United States, if you are walking. Via car, it is more like $3.50-$3.75 USD. Strongly recommend bringing quarters if the change machines aren't working, for those that are waking. Other than that, the Rainbow Bridge is also a great spot to take pictures of the waterfalls should you choose not to walk all the way in to the park area. Just remember to bring your passport!
google avatar

Mark M.

Yelp
I like this bridge. It has a nice view of Niagara Falls in the distance, and the gorge below. It doesn't allow trucks, and you can use your Nexus card, but no dedicated lane, because of the Whirlpool Nexus Bridge nearby. You only pay a toll when coming into Canada. The US and Canadian custom officers are usually pretty decent at this bridge (unlike the US ones at Lewiston). Heading into the US, just keep driving straight and the Casino and Third Street restaurants are nearby. Heading into Canada, immediately take a right to access then Niagara Parkway and get to the Falls or Clifton Hill nearby.
google avatar

ZhuZhu L.

Yelp
The view from the bridge is amazing. Crossing the border to Canada and back to America was very convenient. You will need to register online at ArriveCAN prior to your entry. Coming back to American you will need 4 quarters for each person.
google avatar

Jessica P.

Yelp
Every time I go over this bridge I ALWAYS wait. They collect money first the you go through immigration. So if your denied entry your out over $5. There's plenty of CLOSED lane and only 3 open!! The bridge gets enough money, try hiring more staff.
google avatar

Jurel H.

Yelp
You get a great view overlooking the Niagara river from this bridge. This bridge is high volume and even though there are plenty of custom agents. The wait can be extremely long.
google avatar

Sylvia A.

Yelp
This is a great way to walk from the U.S. side to the Canada side. All seeing spectacular views. Just make sure you have your passport available upon reaching the Canadian side. I would say it's probably about a mile walk. This is our only way of traveling to the Canadian side. Also check it out at night to see all the pretty lights including the falls. Have fifty cents in coins available when coming back to the U.S. side.

Yelp
Most convenient international crossing for visitors to the circus sideshow that is Niagara Falls!! I generally recommend walking because it's way better when you stop and take in the view without having 7-dozen people honking their horns at you and questioning your hygiene habits, diet, and legitimacy at birth. Take the time to pause and reflect on the state of affairs when crossing over the border; moving from freedom to a slightly different sort of freedom. Interesting set up here: gotta go through a turnstile to leave the USA on foot but you are in no way obligated to continue to Canada!? Change your mind halfway out and you can come back after answering just a few questions: Customs Agent: What is your citizenship? Me: United States of America. CA: Anything to declare? Me: I like it here! CA: You must like Canada too, you've just been there... Me: Great place to take pictures of the US after checking in on Yelp! CA: (looking thoroughly not amused) You can continue through door 3. ...which lead to America! not the room of many questions, bright lights, and uncomfortable seating. Yea for freedom and cheap gas!?
google avatar

Winny L.

Yelp
Have you every want to walk to the US from Canada or vice versa? Make sure to bring your passport!!! Really nice option to see the falls from the Rainbow Bridge...went during the winter but I'm sure it's much better when not cold. Nice to see the waterfalls from here - different vantage point and highly recommend. Nice view of the frozen falls and 1/2 way point is the international line - make sure to take a picture here! From the Canadian side, you need $1 toll to start your journey and passport from either side to get back.

Kimberly K.

Yelp
Loved walking across from Canada , bring quarters! Make sure you have some dollar bills. Great views. 10/0 recommended

Yelp
Rainbow Bridge definitely has some of the best views overall of both the USA and Canadian falls. It is best to walk over from either side and do not drive. My daughter and I were leaving canada and decided to go to the New York side of Niagra Falls. The traffic on Rainbow bridge is atrocious. The border agents are extremely slow so it takes forever to get over bridge. I would say it was probably about 35-45 minutes to get over. I defiantly recommend going over Rainbow Bridge but walk it from either side. You will thank me later for this tip. I give Rainbow bridge itself and the views 5 stars but the traffic by car to get from one side to the other is totally ridiculous and unfortunately I can not give it more than 2 stars and that is very generous. Ill give it 4 stars overall as it is a great view and super picturesque. If you are by the Falls definetly walk across the Rainbow Bridge it is 100% worth it.

Yelp
Yelp should check the reviews they delete more carefully, because I don't think you can get a more first-hand experience than being sexually assaulted on this bridge by an employee of this bridge, which I was, and for once I'm not joking. I'm sure they just didn't read that far. No big deal. Here it is again. It has to get a 5 star rating for the amazing view, despite the horrors of actually going through customs here. The Canadian side are friendly enough, usually not detaining me, no problems. The American side has been nothing but an abusive, harrowing nightmare. It takes a lot to phase me and these people have. But first: this bridge is known as the Rainbow Bridge because it is a crossing exclusively for LGBT people. I think it's wonderful that they have a crossing purely for LGBT people. What is even better is that every border guard working here is LGBT. It's super cute hearing the male border guards discuss who was the best "Phantom Of The Opera" and the females talk about how Ani DiFranco understands why men suck and nobody else gets it. They play Pet Shop Boys CDs and Lilith Fair 1999 VHS videos all day here in the border guard offices and it's wonderful. Unfortunately none of this paragraph is completely true. I would give them a 1 star because I was actually physically and sexually assaulted here once by a US Customs Guard. My good friends know the story. I don't want to put the details in a review but let's just say that it's lucky for them I'm not the kind of person that takes things to the next level with regards to that. I often encourage others to report such things, but personally I prefer to let things be and not to waste my time on it, since it doesn't really affect me too badly. I am not even slightly damaged (DO I SOUND DAMAGED?!?!?!?! JAJAJAJAJAJA) but I'm happy to share these stories in private with you. I have to raise them by to a 3 star because as I said, going the other direction (the Canadian side) are usually somewhere between "decent" and "friendly", and then I have to raise them one more star because MY WORD THIS HAS TO BE THE MOST AMAZING VIEW FROM ANY BORDER CROSSING LIKE EVER IN THE HISTORY OF BORDER CROSSINGS AMIRITE? If you want to save time, I recommend the other bridges. Maybe. But not always. If you thought all of the US Border Guards were angels, I'm sorry that this review may have Rainbowed on your Parade. So to speak.
google avatar

Stacey A.

Yelp
This bridge being the closest to Niagara Falls can get very busy especially in the summer. Even if you're walking across the wait can be terribly long. Plan for a long wait (maybe you'll get lucky and it won't be too bad). But you get great views of the falls from the bridge. They just raised the fee to walk across to $1....so it's very affordable. You will need a passport or NYS enhanced license to cross. Visiting Niagara Falls wouldn't be complete without viewing it from both the American and Canadian sides. Each has much to offer and your access is by way of the Rainbow Bridge.

Margaret M.

Yelp
US Border Patrol Wallace was extremely rude to my partner when we didn't stop the car in the right place, and dressed us down like children. Bridge and Canada side were lovely.

D P.

Yelp
Canadian boarder officers were great. US boarder officer was a dick. If you don't like people, why would you get a job where you have to interact with people everyday. The US officers should take some classes from the Canadian counterparts.
google avatar

Christian E.

Yelp
Great way to walk over the border and see the falls from both sides! It was a shorter walk than expected and had great views! There was a $1 toll to cross from Canada into US but we didn't pay a toll coming back. They had a change machine there. There was only one agent working the Canada side so if there is a line it could take a while but we went straight through pretty fast.

Yelp
NICE VIEW ! My wife and I decided to go through with the required protocols such as providing proof of a negative covid test within past 72 hours so we could walk across this bridge ( built in 1941 ) into Ontario, Canada to see Niagara Falls from the other side. We had read that the falls looked more spectacular on the Canadian side. After lunch back in Niagara we took the path through the park across from our hotel and eventually found our way to the Rainbow International Bridge. No one stopped us at the entrance and we walked quite a distance across the long bridge on a pretty warm day. At the Canadian end we had to front up to a female border protection officer who asked to see our IDs, our proof of full vaccination and our negative covid test results within the past 72 hours. WE PASSED ! And then we headed into the town where we expected to find some nice restaurant choices to have dinner. NO SUCH THING in this mini Vegas amusement strip which looked very trashy. We looked and we looked but it became obvious that our long walk across the bridge plus all the other stuff we had to do just to get here..was a WASTE OF TIME ! We turned around and headed back across the bridge ( after we deposited $1 each to allow our passage through the turnstile ) until we reached the USA side. We had to front up to a border protection officer to show our ID's etc. And then we were free to go. NEVER AGAIN
google avatar

Teresa L.

Yelp
Great views. Canadian side should warn you that upon your return toward USA, you will have to pay Canada $1 each in coins...to pass. We had a $100 bill, no ones or fives for change machine and had to go to Duty Free store to use ATM to pull $20 and buy chocolate with it, to break it... Just be prepared! We clearly weren't.

Yelp
Amazing. 1) The views from here is fantastic. 2) Only coming from Canada to US there is a small charge of 1 USD. 3) Must visit bridge.

Yelp
Visiting either Niagara Falls, Ontario or Niagara Falls, New York- you can't miss Rainbow Bridge and it is certainly worthy of admiration. An architectural beauty stretching across the waters flowing over Niagara Falls, Rainbow bridge connects the US and Canadian sides of the Falls. Rainbow Bridge is easily viewable from the Niagara Falls parks but my favorite was seeing it from the water. Both boat tours: Maid of the Mist and the Hornblower provide excellent day time views of the this beautiful bridge.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
Right now it sucks ,I booked a day pass at the fairview water park, they said nothing about needing to be tested negative to enter Canada, the Waterpark should tell customers about this , luckily I booked my Hotel on the US side , when I asked about this , receptionist told me there leaving out this information, also a Cop told me same thing .

Yelp
I've crossed this bridge by foot and by car and have always had a pleasant experience. Most recently on Saturday, I was driving back around 4:30pm and had no issues on the bridge. In fact, I got through in about 5 minutes despite there being pretty large lines! There were still about 20 lanes open and I was able to snag a place in line and it moved fairly quick! As others mention, there is a nice view of Niagara Falls when crossing the bridge. You can also cross by foot or bike and it's fairly easy to get through customs quickly if you have the right documents. Great bridge -- easy to cross the border via Peace Bridge or Rainbow Bridge. While the Peace Bridge still typically has the lowest wait times, the Rainbow Bridge is pretty painless most of the time!

Yelp
The bridge connects the US and Canada across the Niagara River. When leaving Canada, there is a pedestrian toll collected by an automatic turnstile- $.50 USD/CAD. Change machines were available. The walk across was manageable. The total length of the bridge is 1,450 ft (440 m). When you see the American and Canadian flags about halfway across, look for the International Boundary Line plaque. I forgot to look for it the first time around and missed it. Be sure to have your passport ready when you reach the other side. I'm glad I had a way to experience Niagara Falls from both sides, so beautiful!

Yelp
The best way to cross over into Canada from the US by foot over the rainbow bridge. You get the best straight on view of the falls at the middle of the bridge. You need a passport to cross over. There is also a toll if you walk which is one dollar. The toll can be paid in Canadian or US coins. They have a change machines to help you break up you paper currency into coins on the spot. As you cross over into Canada or back into the US, you will have to present your passport and speak to the boarder patrol officer. They will ask you a few simple questions such as "How long will you stay/how long were you away", and "Where do you call home?", etc. Definitely worth it if you have the opportunity to do this.

Yelp
I crossed Rainbow Bridge on foot, from the U.S. to Canada and back, on a June Saturday. I haven't gone over the bridge by car, so I'm not sure how it compares, but I expect I'll walk over again soon. If trekking into Canada on the weekend, I recommend going early. My husband and I walked over to Canada around 10:30 am, and the border check line was short, with only two small parties in front of us. When we walked back across the bridge to the U.S. in the early afternoon, the line to get into Canada was long. Only a few parties can fit indoors, and the line extended out onto the bridge, where there is no shade. Luckily for us, there was no line for the American border guards once we got to the New York end of the bridge. Unsurprisingly, the Canadian agents are more polite and pleasant than their American counterparts. We didn't have any trouble getting back into the U.S. (we're both American citizens), but still preferred the first leg of our trip. The views of the Falls from the bridge are great, so have your phone/camera ready. The plaque that denotes the International Boundary Line can be easily missed-if you want a photo of it, keep your eye on the outer railing. If you see other people crouching for a photo opp, that's your giveaway. The toll is currently $0.50 per person, and is only paid when you leave Canada for the U.S. There's a decent amount of things that you can see on both the American and Canadian sides that are within walking distance of the bridge. On the American side, you can walk to Goat Island or the downtown area, and on the Canadian side, there's Victoria Park, lots of viewing points for the Falls, and Clifton Hill, the super touristy street.

Yelp
I've been to the US-Mexico border crossing many times, but this was my first time driving into Canada. This bridge is one of three connectors into Canada from the Buffalo area. After the long drive from BWI, my buddy and I were glad to be very close to our hotel on the Canadian side. This bridge is right next to the world famous Niagara Falls. We could not see them at 2:00 AM when we crossed the border though. The wait to get in took a while, as there was only one border guard on duty that early morning. The guy was a bit of a jerk, but that's expected of his job. A few quick questions, and we were let into the wonder country of Canada. The bridge is not that long, but it is several hundred meters above the water. You can hear the waterfalls from the bridge well. The wait to cross is short in 2:00 AM, but can take a ridiculous amount of time during the daytime. Crossing back into the US at noon isn't too bad as far as the wait time. But the same drivers crossing back alongside you are very aggressive once they cross back into the US. To counter this, I just drove just like I do back in LA ;-)

Yelp
This bridge gives you a good view of the falls which is amazing. The bridge is 50 cents if you are walking. To drive over its 3.50 USD. The bridge is about a 5-7 minute walk which is worth the walk. It really does give you the best view. However, to drive on the bridge legit takes forever! I don't recommend it. I recommend to park on the NY side that has a parking lot for 10$ which is right next to smokin' joes indian trading post and walk over. Its the best way to do it! Trust me!

Yelp
When I first got here in Canada a lady approached me and asked me if I had any furbabies I have lost. I told her oh yess. She said to not miss the rainbow bridge. I instantly put two and two together....THE rainbow bridge. It's a must do thing and to go over it is amazing into NY. I thought of my furbabies.... It's beautiful. Awesome view of the touristy part.

Yelp
I admit. I'm afraid of heights. But this bridge somehow is welcoming and fun. And I thought the Rainbow Bridge was for deceased pets. Not here. You just have to make an international crossing this way, on foot, whenever visiting Niagara Falls. The bridge is a very short length, and the sidewalk is wide and well protected from traffic. Views of the Falls are exquisite - especially at sunset. You will pay 50 cents, Canadian or US, to pass through the turnstile on your walk to the US. There is no fee to return to Canada. Passport mandatory.

Yelp
WALK ACROSS THIS BRIDGE!!!!!!!! I walked across the bridge during the day and it was AMAZING!!!! The view is great of the two falls and you can see the plaque for the international border line. Important note. Have your passport on you. I did and I was able to speed on through. Someone in front of me didn't when walking into the United States and they were getting hounded with questions. Same thing when going back into Canada, have your passport. When walking on the bridge from Canada, you also need 50 cents per person to go through turnstalls. There is a change machine for both USD and CAD.

Yelp
This bridge is one of the crossing for Canada and New york. Prepare for a wait. Enjoy the view. Hopefully you don't have to pee. It takes a while to get across and staring at the Niagara Falls doesn't help if you have the urge to urinate. It would probably be quicker if you went by foot. I saw a chinese kid holding a bag and running across the boarder. No one chased after him. However I saw two boarder patrol come out of the office and said to each other did you see that kid running? Great job securing the boarder guys! The Boarder Agent that checked out our car reminded me of one of the cops on Southland. The one that used to be on the OC. The dude kinda looked like he haven't drank his morning coffee and that the donut shop ran out of donuts. He glance at the passport, opened the trunk and closed it. Good thing he didn't see that body under all the luggage. I kid!
