We were looking for somewhere to chill.. away from the hubbub and usual tourist stuff. We found it! Rainbow Lodge is off a bridge, up a river and with a welcome as big as bus. The staff, headed up by Gee, are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble and everybody is friendly and relaxed. The accommodation is exactly as I expect an eco lodge to be, with an eye to the sustainable with excellent fresh food provided and cooked to perfection! ||It’s a great place to relax and take the foot off the gas… but there’s plenty to do! The bird watching is amazing with many and varied avian visitors. You can kayak or swim in the river, if that’s your bag, but a highlight for us was a 2.5 hour trek through the forest with a most amazing guide, Chek, a young man passionate about his own environment, as well as the planet. He guided us to the splendid waterfalls, which gave much cooling relief after the trek. ||Not only did he remove some pretty impressive arachnids, gently, out of our path, he also tracked down a gibbon - a rare treat along this path - which was very exciting. ||We also enjoyed the company of other guests. Some lovely families, now living in Phnom Penh, and also a couple, originally from Sri Lanka, who were professional-level birders and took some gorgeous photographs of the large array of visiting birds. ||All in all, we had a great time here… only a few days… but a fabulous experience. Our thanks to the whole team.

A beautiful hidden gem! Our trip here, from start to finish was amazing. The team are super friendly and knowledgeable about the local area and the wildlife. The rooms were comfortable and you felt totally emerging in the jungle. The food was great, I have allergies and they were super accommodating. We did the mangrove tour and the long hike, both with Pirom who is an excellent guide. I am already planning my return trip.

This is the most amazing place that we have ever visited or stayed. We came here from Vietnam and Siem Reap and I was so worried because it had been so hot everywhere we had been. It was so much cooler at Rainbow Lodge than anywhere else we stayed. The staff were so kind and knowledgeable, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Being in this place, surrounded by untouched nature, was the most relaxed I have been in recent memory. We saw wildlife, we rested, and we were beyond comfortable. On top of all of this, the food was delicious!! I cannot recommend Rainbow Lodge enough- this is a must do!

we have just returned from a wonderful stay at rainbow lodge - a real highlight of our trip to cambodia! Being picked up by a boat to get the the lodge is an experience in itself and you get to see the beautiful river. The lodge is itself is tranquil and very relaxing - Piarom and his family and staff are the perfect hosts, friendly and willing to share their passion for nature and the wildlife. We hiked to the waterfall and swam and also enjoyed some kayaking on the river - both really recommended. The food was delicious and the sunrises over the river spectacular. This is a really special and unique place - we loved it and hope to go back!

Rainbow Lodge was a magical place to spend a few days: I've rarely felt so much that we were staying with friends. Piron and Gee, who run the Lodge, are wonderful. Piron took us on two glorious day trips: kayaking through mangroves, where we collected mangrove fruit to plant later. Then we hiked up through the jungle to reach waterfalls where we swam, jumped and played for a long while before the boat came to take us home. ||Gee, the expat Englishman who fell in love with Cambodia, is an extraordinary naturalist, and I hope that by the time I go back, he'll have his planned photos up of the two insect species he's identifed and which are named after him. He's also published the first catalogue of Cambodian butterflies. Whether from the central bar platform, or from the viewing tower high in the jungle canopy, he'll help you identify the calls of birds, geckos and other creatures around. ||The food was wonderful. The wildlife is amazing. We adored swimming in the river, playing card games in the open-sided bar area, listening to the geckos at night. The whole experience was a highlight of a brilliant Cambodian adventure.

Rainbow Lodge is a solar powered eco retreat with excellent food , friendly staff and wild untamed nature on your doorstep ( and sometimes closer ) . It is reached by boat from the nearest village . They can arrange authentic guided jungle walks with a knowledgeable guide with superb English . You can swim ,kayak in the river , relax under a thatched roof in reception or bird watch from your bungalow patio . If you want buzzy nightlife, thriving club scene or alcohol fuelled hedonism this is NOT the place for you .

Rainbow lodge is in the most beautiful peaceful jungle setting. Our bungalow was spacious, clean with a lovely terrace looking into the jungle. The food is included in the price and is exceptional- there is lots of choice for breakfast & lunch and an excellent 3 course meal in the evening. Other drinks and snacks are reasonably priced and washing can be arranged. ||The lodge is only accessible by boat and the river is great for swimming & kayaking (which the lodge provides free of charge). There are a number of activities you can book - we did the trek to Tatai waterfall which was great (very knowledgable, friendly guide and culminated in the most beautiful natural swimming spot and delicious lunch). ||The setting, food and activities were all fantastic but what really sets this lodge apart is the passion the management & staff have for sustainability and preserving the natural environment. It is notable that they have not cleared the land around the lodge (as others have done) and have a programme of planting trees and managing tourism as sustainably as possible. ||The staff are also incredibly friendly and helpful. I had lots of questions before arriving which were always answered promptly. The lodge arranged transport for us and made us and the other guests feel really welcome.

We fell in love with this place within the first few hours of arriving. The hosts are so welcoming to their special family run lodges. The family room was spotlessly clean. They think of everything to ensure you are safe and secure in the middle of their pulsing jungle. The trips were the absolute highlight of our stay in Cambodia. The food was delicious and we even got a picnic when we left on our onward journey. We cannot recommend this place more. We enjoyed being off grid, exploring nature, clam fishing with our toes and relaxing in the hammock with a good book. There was more than this but we won’t reveal all of its delights! Our teenagers didn’t want to leave and nor did we!
