Rainbows Ceramics Painting Studio. York, UK.

I've been to this place many times over the past 5 years and every time I have had a lovely time, the equipment is great and the activity is suitable for all ages. I personally like going in first thing in the morning and doing quite detailed work, but it's always nice seeing families in there making memories with the younger kids. Staff are always friendly, supplies are always top notch, and your creativity is free to run wild!

Visited here beginning of June with my sisters, no need to book. We had the most brilliant experience. Really relaxing atmosphere, all age groups and different size groups. The staff are really friendly and explain the different painting techniques well. Will definitely visit again.

I had booked a pottery session and took my son to do his hand and foot prints on a plate, which was for a Christmas present last year. On arrival I was told if I needed any assistance with the hand and foot prints I just need to ask because the lady who specialises in doing them is in. When I asked for assistance I was very rudely let down. The middle aged lady with shorter brown hair was so rude to us and a dad who had brought his daughter out to paint some pottery, who was sat on the table next to us. The only reason I give 3 stars is because of the choice of pottery and you can use the pens to write on your pottery. It will put me off coming again after the way we were treated

Came with a hen party, the service was amazing and the options were more varied that some other pottery painting places I’ve been. I loved the paint pens which made doing detail so much easier. We had a great time.

Had the best time here at their adult night a few weeks ago. There's a huge range of items available to paint, it was hard to choose! The staff were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, & even helped me with some painting questions. Our ceramics turned out so well & we'll definitely be back! Set a couple of hours aside for a peaceful enjoyable experience. Every year the kids are excited when we visit Rainbow Ceramics because they enjoy painting new things for their rooms. The anticipation of waiting a week to get them back after being fired in the kiln is equally exciting. It’s amazing to see how vibrant the colours are when they’re glazed. Don’t think Rainbow is just for kids - it’s not. A great place to make something bespoke for the home, many adults frequent the shop to build a collection. It’s not cheap, but for what you get it’s well worth it. Just remember that you have to wait a week for the end product. Not staying in York? - they’ll post it for you (at your cost).

I've been going here regularly since I was a uni student and I'm 27 now! I adore anything creative and love pottery painting anyway but Rainbows has always been extra special to me. I'm someone who struggles with anxiety, mental health issues and sensory issues and I've always found Rainbows to be so lovely and welcoming. It's always a place I've felt safe and comfortable and I never feel too overwhelmed. I feel like they are always supportive, accommodating and friendly and this atmosphere really makes the experience. I forever love going here and always enjoy the range of things that they have on offer to paint. I feel so lucky to have such a wonderful place so close to me. Also- there are always cute dogs chilling out (staff member's dogs) which is deffo a plus- please see the photo for proof!
