Rainforest Motel

This is a great motel. Andy the manager is one of the nicest and most helpful guys you will meet. The units are very generously sized, the beds good and the furniture comfortable. Sky TV, Nespresso machine and capsules fully stocked, tea, hot chocolate, little gift trays of biscuits, and a well appointed kitchenette for self-catering. Communal laundry with washing machine and drier was great to use to deal with wet weather gear after glacier trip. Above all, the units are very clean, and very warm, even in midwinter. Great to come back to after being out in the elements. Rainforest Motel is great value for money and the location is perfect. No road noise, but barely 2 minutes walk up the road and around the corner to the main street for bars and restaurants etc. Highly recommend Rainforest Motel.

Stayed here in April 2025 with a friend. Our room had a living area and kitchen, which was great. Had everything you needed to make a meal (we made a little pasta meal one night). Kitchen had a Nespresso machine (which we loved), as well as other tea/coffee. Room was clean. Bed was comfy. Shower had great pressure and was clean. The town is small, and this hotel is perfect location to all restaurants and little corner/grocery store (5 min walk to most things). There is on site laundry and dryer for $2 NZD each. But seems like staff does use it to clean sheets as well, so can be busy at times. Parking is right in front of your own hotel door which was great. Cute little walk near by that you can go to at night to see some glow worms! (like 7 min walk away from hotel and the walk itself is a short 20 min loop).

Such a wonderful reception from the owner and his dog. We were upgraded although we didn't need the extra bedroom, it made the living area very sizeable for our stay.. We were given knowledgeable information about the area. We loved our stay and was perfect for our boarder collie. Would definitely stay again if in the area. Can't recommend Rainforest amotel enough

Spacious and pleasant accommodation. However, it wasn't very clean (hair on the wall and in the drawer of the bathroom cabinet, blood stain on the sheet...). On the other hand, the spaces and services (kettle, coffee, etc.) are great. Very good location and easy to find, with parking.

We are glad to choose this cozy, warm and friendly motel in Fox Glacier. It is like home away from home. As we traveled -“car-less “. On rainy morning- the owner, Andy is so kind - he helped drove us to the nearby station n also to near by lake matheson. Thank you .. Rooms are spacious n clean. The overall vibes is fantastic. Good location and few restaurants nearby. The local grocery store has limited options and my deepest impression .. 1 kg of garlic is NZ $51.00🫢

Absolutely loving our stay here. The owner was incredibly warm and helpful, giving us great tips on what to see and where to eat. When he found out our heli hike was cancelled due to bad weather, he upgraded us to a better room, just to brighten our day. That kind of thoughtful service really stands out. The room was spotless, well set up, and the bathroom was beautifully done with quality towels, toiletries, and everything we needed. If you’re staying in Fox Glacier, this place is a no-brainer. I’d 100% stay here again.

Warm, cosy and inviting family owned and run motel with rooms equipped with everything you need for basic cooking (pots and pans, small oven, cooktop, microwave) very comfortable beds. No bells and whistles but great comfort. The owner lives on-site and is more than happy to help guests have the best stay possible. Location is great a stones throw from the fox glacier guides office and the helicopter line office. Ample parking directly outside your room so no qualms about safety. Warm heaters in every room we were perfectly cosy in our extremely comfortable beds. Good restaurant right next door if you don’t feel like self catering. Highly recommend this New Zealand owned family business.

It's a small two-bedroom apartment in a motel where we stayed. It's basic and not fancy though has everything you need for a pleasant stay. When we needed a couple of extra towels they were provided immediately. When I looked at the other motel in town I know we were staying at the better one. I would recommend it.
