The Most Scenic Way to Explore This Remote Midwestern National Park Is by Boat—and It Has Mirror-like Lakes and 500 Islands

"A Rainy Lake–based rental company offering a range of small watercraft—such as motorboats, canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards—serving visitors who prefer to explore the park independently by water." - Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel is a writer with more than eight years of experience editing and writing for both brands and online publications—with a particular focus on travel, fashion, and lifestyle. I booked a canoe reservation months ago, including the extra pay for it to be delivered to the visitor center. When I arrived the canoe was not there. I was told that someone else took the canoe instead of the kayak that they rented. I was offered a refund or I could take the kayak with no compensation or refund. I am experienced in a canoe and don’t know kayaks very well, this is why I rented a canoe. They offered me nothing else, and took the kayak within the hour. I am from 14 hours away and only here for the day, that’s why I booked so far in advance. Rainy lake aquatics ruined my National park visit.

HIGHLY recommend. I called last minute on a trip to an AirBNB on Rainy Lake. Darren picked up the phone right away and personally delivered a canoe to my rental dock in just a couple hours. I was able to pay with my card at my rental. At the end of our trip we had to change plans and drop it off at the visitors center instead of our rental and he was flexible and made it happen no problem. Awesome experience.

Rainy Lake Aquatics made the rental experience so seamless and easy. They dropped off the kayaks right at our place and we’re so nice to work with. The perfect way to explore Rainy Lake. Highly recommend!

We had a great time using the canoe we rented from Rainy Lake Aquatics! The canoe was clean and the rental included life jackets and paddles. Aaron was very communicative and made the entire process really easy. Would highly recommend!

Great service. Convenient and friendly. I used the Ranier pick up out near Loony’s and I had a great time. Will definitely be using this company again.

Great rental company! When our boat ride got cancelled last minute due to flood waters, Rainy Lake Aquatics had two paddleboards available for next day rental. Not only that, but we were able to use them all day for a great price, life jackets and dry bag included. This is definitely a business I would recommend!

We needed stuff the night before and it was super easy working with them. They were friendly and honest and when we had to cancel for the weather they were so professional!! Highly recommend-good service, right price, and they handle drop off and pick up. Definitely will use them next time!

We went to Voyageurs as a last minute trip in the off season and didn't make any reservations. I called several other outfitters with no luck. I found the business card for Rainy Lake Aquatics on a bulletin board in a souvenir shop. I called Rainy Lake Aquatics and was out on the lake less than an hour later in a kayak. The process of renting was very easy and he was very accommodating even though we didn't have reservations. I highly recommend Rainy Lake Aquatics!
