Google
Absolutely amazing experience. Everyone there was polite and very attentive. As soon as I walked in the door I was approached and helped to a seat. I ordered pork buns as an appetizer and I was a little surprised and impressed by the presentation. It was an open face concept steamed bun, topped with 2 slices of pork and spring mix lettuce drizzled with an umami glaze and sprinkled with sesame seeds. For my Entre I saw they had a combo for any bowl of Ramen and one side for $21.95. I decided to go with Miso Ramen and Spicy Beef Gyoza. Everything showed up promptly after I ordered, several minutes at most. The Gyoza were nice and fresh, still steaming hot from the deep fryer, I enjoyed the seasoning and the spiciness wasn't overpowering. The Miso Ramen was great the broth had good flavor, although I felt it could have been a bit stronger. The pork was nice and tender and the egg cook perfectly. It was a decent sized bowl as well. All in all i spent under $50 for just myself including tip, however I have a large appetite and most wouldn't order an appetizer and combo meal for themselves.

4/20/24-my mom and I were excited to try a new place in Boulder, but we're just disappointed. The food was super bland and I got dirty looks from the staff when I added some of the chili oil to it. Mine was also super oily even before I added the chili oil. The bathroom was out of soap and felt neglected. The service was horrible. The wait staff was one male and one female, and they were to busy leaning against the counter talking to each instead of waiting on the customers. I never got my water refilled and my mom had to really work to get the waitress' attention to get a refill of her soda. There is better food and service elsewhere in Boulder.

This is good find in Boulder. A fairly standard menu mix of sushi, ramen, and apps. The shoyu ramen and brussels sprouts are particularly good.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Rakkan in Boulder last Sunday, and I have to say, it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. Our server Hiro was exceptional—very funny and engaging, which made the dining experience even better. He recommended the most delicious ramen on the menu, the number one option, and it did not disappoint. The ramen was so good that I immediately told my friends, who were not at the restaurant at the time, to come and try it. Not only was the food incredible, but our server also showed us how to eat ramen like they do in Japan. He taught us to taste the broth first, then eat half of the bowl before adding the spicy chili. This added a unique and authentic touch to our meal. Throughout our meal, he kept checking on us to ensure everything was perfect, which we really appreciated. His attentiveness and great sense of humor truly enhanced our visit. I can't wait to come back to Boulder just to dine here again. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for amazing ramen and excellent service!

Google
the food was super salty, not sure if they used msg but I didn't feel very well after I had dinner here. the service was okay, the waiter was sweet but they could've done better with the customer service. it has a cozy atmosphere, pretty nice but not rare to find around boulder here.

Google
Met a friend here for lunch since I've been wanting to try it for awhile. I had the spicy garnet ramen and my friend had the tofu Avocado bowl. Both were delicious, good portions, came very quickly after we placed our order. Service was also quick and friendly, they kept our water filled and quickly cleared away our dishes as well. Would definitely come back here and also try some of the other menu options.

Google
This is the best place to get ramen in Boulder. The broth is flavorful and bold. And with ramen, the broth makes or breaks it. The servers leave you alone to enjoy your meal but are ready to refill your drink when you need it. There are many vegan/vegetarian options. It's always clean and welcoming. I recommend the spicy vegan garnet ramen with an added egg, with either the spicy Edamame or vegan fried gyoza.

Yelp
Service: be careful if you are eating here in person because they "didnt hear" me say "Vegan" the three times I said it while ordering and brought me out a pork ramen. When I said I couldn't eat it for a few reasons (one, I don't eat meat from non organic places and two, I don't eat pork bc pigs are smarter than 3 yo children), they told me to "pick out the pork". Unacceptable. Food: I had to buy another ramen, this time I told the chef I wanted it to be vegan, to go. The broth was excellent and the noodles were very thin but tasty. The veggies were also pretty good and would warrant four stars. Ambiance: nobody seems to want to be there-- the staff nor the patrons.

Yelp
The ramen was so rich and the service was amazing! They kept my green tea filled and took dishes away as soon as we were finished with them. They brought us lollipops with the bill :) Best ramen in Boulder

Yelp
On a snowy May Day in Boulder, we decided to get a steamy bowl of ramen. I stumbled upon the good reviews at Raman Ramen and we decided to give it a shot. One thing to note is this restaurant is Vegan and you can add protein to your meal. This is a cool concept since usually restaurants just have Vegan options. We ordered the Spicy Beef Gyoza to share. We enjoyed this appetizer and it is nice you can pick how many pieces you want. I opted for the ramen combo which I choose the spicy garnet with chicken and the spicy tuna bowl. Both were delicious and fresh. The broth of the ramen was very flavorful and savory, but definitely unique since it is vegan. I could tell that the tuna was fresh and the rice was warm so it really hit the spot. My husband ordered the pork buns, which he devoured too fast for me to get a photo! All in all, I give this place 4.5 stars. I really enjoyed the food and the service was quick. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
I have ate at Rakkan for 2 years when I was a student and this ramen place has been my favorite. The staff is really nice! The ambience is really subtle and minimal. I love the food so much that even after moving out from Boulder I drive here with my partner and she also loves it.

Yelp
Great spot for a quick lunch. The food is as flavorful, the service was speedy. We will be back.

Yelp
Honestly, I ended up in Rakkan today because the line in chipotle next door was too long. I was semi hangry and wanted something quick. So ended up at Rakkan Ramen. In my previous review I already talked about how good their Ramen is so today I want to focus on their super ultra fast service that many hangry folks would appreciate. I placed my order and the waitress took our menus, went inside and just came back with our order in a beat. I tried their vegan gyoza and vegan quartz. I loved them both. I liked the vegan quartz broth more than the spicy garnet broth from last time. If you love a little spice you can add a bit of their vegan chilli oil on table. There is a limted time special menu options available until 3/31 for anyone who would like to try ! P.S I really like their wall art

Yelp
We found Rakkan Ramen on Yelp! I was with my Asian family, and we wanted warming comfort food (so of course ramen). I chose it out because all the broth is vegetarian; my family chose it because it's Japanese ramen, with the excellent ingredients and many choices for additions and add-ons. The service was very prompt, the food was out almost instantly and we enjoyed every delicious drop.

Yelp
Pork gyoza. Taste better than they look. This was a FANTASTIC ramen restaurant in boulder. The broth was rich, well balanced and clearly took time to make. The pork, unlike many in ramen soups, was delicious stand alone. It was well cooked, well seasoned and yummy. Egg was prepared perfectly - not too cooked, but not undercooked (that's hard to get right and they nailed it) the star of the dish, thankfully, were the noodles. perfectly cooked, perfectly sized. This is going to be my go-to place for Ramen in the area.

William M.

Yelp
Kids Meal was a total rip-off. The photo on the online ordering site showed the ramen soup with a sizable portion of chicken tenders on the side. What I was given was a single sad chicken-tender cut in 1/2. Total bait and switch.

Yelp
I came in an hour before closing and ordered the soy sauce ramen. It was awful and so salty. I asked to order a different ramen after one bite. Our waitress said we couldn't get a refund and had to talk to the manager. I ended up getting my money back and got the miso ramen instead which wasn't great but ok. Then at 9:40 they started telling us to leave while we were still eating. Very uncomfortable vibe and bad service.

Yelp
We came here to eat before a college basketball game. I got the garnet vegan and my husband got the spicy garnet vegan. We split the vegan gyozas. Everything tasted great! The service was also very great, attentive, and friendly. The inside of the restaurant was decent and clean. I would definitely return!

Yelp
Good ramen is always a welcome option that I'm always willing to try, and when I heard Rakkan Ramen was popping up, I knew I had to give this place a try! We arrived on a Friday at 12pm with no wait time and were seated immediately! The service provided was fast and attentive. I got the combo option in the menu, which included a bowl of ramen + choices between three side options, which I'll review down below: Spicy Tuna Rice Bowl: For the combo, you get the option of selecting one of any Rice bowl, gyoza, or the crispy chicken. I picked the rice bowl option and specifically the Spicy Tuna Bowl. I really enjoyed this bowl since you get a generous portion of spicy tuna and rice to go with it. The rice was a good consistency and the spicy tuna was delicious - the saltiness and spiciness of the tuna goes really well with the rice! There's also some chili oil that is provided on every table and if you want to kick the flavor up another notch - would totally recommend putting some of that on your rice! Amber (Soy Sauce Base) Ramen: A very solid bowl of ramen - I haven't had a veggie based ramen broth before so this was a new experience for me! As stated on the menu that it comes with an umami sauce, it's true to the name - definitely had a delicious rich flavor with the saltiness of the soy sauce and you can taste a faint mushroom flavor, which is really delicious! The noodles have a good chewy consistency that I usually like in my ramens, and the pickled (I think?) onion + bambo gave the bowl a great flavor and texture that is scrumptious. The egg was really soft and soaks up the broth really well, and the charsiu was fantastic! Charred slightly and sliced just thin enough to make the meat have good fulfilling quality! I am a fan of this bowl of ramen! Overall, I paid about $20 for the combo option and I have to say, this location's vegetarian broth definitely slaps - Based on the option I got at least! Boulder/Superior isn't super well known for ramen spots, and this is definitely a very welcome addition. I would definitely come back to try the other options to gain a bigger picture of the other options Rakkan has to offer to make my review more comprehensive in the future! In the end, I would totally recommend that you give this ramen joint a try! (4.5 stars!)

Yelp
I was a little skeptical about their plant-based broth, but it turned out to be really good. Definitely a different take in terms of what most folks expect of their ramen. I rolled the dice and got the Amber ramen--great choice for others wanting to try something new. Also, recommend the crispy gyoza (combo) for sharing. Lastly, the service here was top notch...Awesome staff!

Yelp
Their vegan-friendly options caught and kept my attention. Hot Brussels Sprouts Salad - I love fried or roasted brussels sprouts. Don't expect any lettuce with this salad; you won't need or want it. Just perfectly roasted and seasoned brussels sprouts with a zesty, tangy accompanying sauce. Love it. 10/10 would order it again. Vegan Spicy Garnet - I tried it with the noodles, but I did not like their ramen noodles, at all. I ended up eating it with just the veggies: tofu, corn, green onions, and garlic. It was perfect for me this way. Even the spicy broth alone was a mood. I'd love to return to try their vegan sushi rolls and vegan Gyoza.

Yelp
Was my first time in Colorado and my friend ended up taking us here. All the ramen used veggie broth, which I was a little skeptical about at first, but it was actually so good! If you didn't tell me it was a veggie broth I would've had no idea it was. Also I recommend getting the crispy chicken for the protein. It was still slightly crispy but also really juicy too. I also loved that I didn't feel lethargic after eating the whole bowl.

Yelp
Great ramen probably some of the best that I've had in Boulder, great flavor and really good chicken. It's my go to spot for ramen

Yelp
So delicious!!! super cute area and everyone working there was super nice and funny, wonderful service. i had the creamy quartz vegan ramen and totally loved it. It's not often I have such a good vegan ramen. I will be back soon!!!

Yelp
I couldn't believe this place existed in a spot like Boulder, CO. It was amazing. The broth was fantastic and the noodles were thin as I prefer them. I got their shoyu ramen and enjoyed every bite of it. If some people don't like this type of ramen then I understand, but for me it was very reminiscent of my time in japan. Really authentic compared to most others in the US. My only regret is I didn't take any pictures of the ramen haha

Sophia D.

Yelp
Absolutely LOVE this place. The service is always fast and the food is incredible. I always get the grilled pork bowl and it never disappoints. Cannot recommend enough.

Yelp
Good experience for ramen and fried chicken Didn't care for the green tea. Staff was jive and even though it was very close to closing time we didn't feel rushed

Yelp
Excellent service and the Ramen was perfect! Highly recommend the takoyaki as well. The noodles were perfect and the pork was delicious. Sauces were great too.

Yelp
Great ramen in Boulder! I loved the special spicy garlic ramen and I get the combo and also get the spicy beef gyozas. The gyozas are amazing!! Full of flavor and are so crispy! I also love the ramen. The broth itself is so flavorful and doesn't contain any pork like most ramen places. The egg is also runny and not too over cooked like some places will do it. Love this place and will be returning!
google avatar

Allison R.

Yelp
Soooo good! Some of the best ramen I have ever had. Noodles cooked perfectly! We will be back!! Great vegan options!
google avatar

Yelp
The Little Tokyo location in LA is MUCH better, although I can't complain too much because I've been hard pressed to find decent Asian food here in Colorado. The restaurant was relatively busy so I don't think it takes much to impress Boulderites-- they're probably happy to try something new and don't have much to compare to. Anyway, I ordered the vegan truffle ramen which came lukewarm and salty. Everyone's broth was too salty and everyone's noodles were way too Al dente. Eating here made me miss my home-- but not in the nostalgic way a good meal does, but in the way that no place will ever really compare to the Asian cuisine in Southern California!
google avatar

Xueyang C.

Yelp
Very unauthentic ramen. Used the wrong type of noodles and the seaweed salad came with a bunch of mixed greens to lower the cost. Service is not very good.
google avatar

Paige Y.

Yelp
I am very happy with this ramen chain. Everything has been good. Food comes out quickly, and no customers stay long (you know, you just go in, eat and leave at ramen places.) Just like ramen places in Japan, I am hoping they start offering chahan. In that sense, Katsu Ramen in Denver (?) is so authentic! Somehow, ramen in the US is so expensive around $13-14. Rakkan ramen in Japan (Amber) is 1000yen (about $10). I assume that is because the US annual wage is 55% higher than that of Japanese. Service is always efficient. But $13-14 ramen is so hard to accept for us Japanese even though we know the reason.
google avatar

Nisha G.

Yelp
We tried vegan ramens. Spicy garnet vegan ramen has the perfect amount of spice, is filling with mushrooms and tofu. The quartz vegan ramen is creamy, and mellow yet deep flavors. If you cannot do spicy this one is perfect for you. The chilli oil, they give a little side of, is just magical and adds a kick. I like to mix my noodles with a little chilli oil. We had left overs too. We try ramens from almost all places, as we are big ramen fans. And not all places are able to make a good vegan ramen. This one definitely top notch ramen. Might have to eat this weekly

T C.

Yelp
I've been here about a half dozen times. Each time it has gone downhill but because I love the Ramen broth and food I keep trying to have faith it will get better. Our daughter was in town and we were so excited to take her here to eat especially because of her being vegetarian and working outside all day in the cold. We were not treated well and actually shocked at how rude our server was. Not to mention our food was cold and beyond unsatisfactory. Our eggs in the ramen were cold and what was the safest was our appetizers were what I and my husband were so excited about . We're not even warmed. The buns were or had been chilled and what was inside was just as chilled. On a plus side probably the best brussel sprouts ever. I'm just sad because I don't understand how showing up somewhere to eat a hearty and nice meal, wanting to spend $ could make you leave so disappointed and knowing it was a waist of $130 for 3 people. We don't get out much these days living in the mtns. To be treated this way ( so rude ) and the food be so not fresh... come on. We should just cook at home. I know ramen and this place was awesome ! Was.

Kelly B.

Yelp
This is my first review. My brother and I came here for lunch. The ramen was okay but not worth the money. The staff were very inattentive and rude. They tried to rush us out when we were the only customers. It was an uncomfortable experience along with the lackluster meal. Don't spend your time and money here and contribute to a poorly managed chain restaurant with mediocre food. Will never return.
google avatar

Cole G.

Yelp
My partner and I came here for a quick lunch after some shopping and holy moly was it tasty. I got the spicy garnet ramen. The servings are well portioned not too big and not too small. The only qualm I have about the meal was that the egg in the ramen was cold but everything else was delicious! 10/10

Moni T.

Yelp
Amazing! Great Ramen. I had the "Pearl" Ramen today. Wonderful quality, great taste. Everything cooked to perfection. Best Ramen I had outside of Japan. The meat even had a light crispy crust. The vegetables/roots were divine. Everything just flavorful and light. Umami made me happy. Their iced green tea tastes just like in Japan. Not from a tea bag. Delicious! Come here for Ramen. And friendly, fast, attentive service staff. Best in town.

Yelp
The Raman did not have a lot of substance mostly noodles The tuna poke bowl was barely OK The tuna has a freezer burn taste

Yelp
I am so glad to find this great ramen noodle place In Boulder finally, this is the Real Ramen noodle, the booth is great, not too salty, service is great, highly recommend

Yelp
We walked into the restaurant around 9 pm, the website stated it closed at 10. It was kind of uncomfortable because the waiter sighed and looked at his watch. He did that each time someone walked in the door. The food however was absolutely delicious and came out pretty quickly. We will definitely go again!

Yelp
A good find on Boulder 29th street mall. They are located near chipotle. So nice to have a good Japanese, fast casual option here in land locked Colorado. Good menu and quick service. We ordered the vegan garnet ramen, spicy pork garnet ramen, fried pork gyoza and spicy tuna rolls. All the food was fresh, good and delicious! We had VERY healthy portions. The staff was attentive, helpful and quick. Definitely going to head back, so many more menu options to try! Spicy is not too spicy for those who are Colorado spice friendly.

Yelp
Rakkan brings a really interesting take on "healthy ramen" to Boulder. Don't expect this to taste like Ichiran or other serious tonkotsu joints; however, it's good (especially if there are vegans in your group). I'm putting quotes around "healthy ramen" because I'm not sure exactly how healthy a giant bowl of broth and noodles can truly be, but Rakkan puts in a good effort to make the meal more nutritious. Every broth they serve is vegan and comes with vegan and non vegan toppings options. The noodles are also made with whole wheat grains. I ordered the Quartz which is like their version of tonkotsu ramen. The broth is noted to be creamy and I was curious how they were going to achieve that with only plant based ingredients. The answer is mushrooms. This broth tastes so much like mushrooms, but in a good way! To put it into perspective: the first spoonful almost reminded me of cream of mushroom soup. Don't order this if you don't like mushrooms. I was pretty impressed with the noodles, to be honest. I am really picky when it comes to ramen noodles. I don't like to see thick and overcooked packaged noodles at a ramen restaurant. I can make that at home. I want thin, firm ramen noodles and Rakkan delivered. The noodles truly seemed freshly cooked and were cooked perfectly. Some ramen places will allow you to choose the firmness of your noodles. Rakkan does not but serves the noodles at (in my opinion) the ideal firm texture. Also, because they use whole wheat in their dough, the noodles have a bit more bite and chew which was nice. We also ordered the pork buns. We were surprised to find thin charbroiled pork in the buns instead of a thick slab of pork belly but this made sense later when we better understood the restaurant. That being said, the meat was delicious. It was nicely charred and coated in a yummy teriyaki style sauce. The actual buns were a little fragile and underwhelming but overall the dish was tasty, albeit non traditional. Summary of Rakkan is an alternative ramen place serving up healthier versions of classics. If you're open to something slightly different than normal, this place is worth trying. We will definitely return in the future.

Yelp
Wow. Jus t Wow. This place maybe a little pricey, but the Ramen here is delicious. Have just tried 5 things so far, Spicy Curry Ramen, Spicy Garnet Ramen, Crispy Chicken appetizer, Pork Gyoza, and the Shrimp Shumai. Spicy Curry Ramen - Excellent. Amazingly rich and filling. Spicy Garnet Ramen - Excellent. Rich and flavorful. Crisp Chicken appetizer - Excellent. I could eat 100 of these babies in one sitting. Best fried chicken around these parts. Pork Gyoza - Very Good. This would have been excellent I expect if I had not done pick-up since I live in Louisville right now. Shrimp Shumai - OUT OF THIS WORLD. If was allowed to keep eating these things I would end up in the emergency room. They are that good. Do you sense a pattern here? The ramen makes for excellent take out because of the way the package it. Just heat up the broth and dump it on the rest of the goodies. Looking forward to working my way through the rest of the menu. Please do not tell too many people about this place or there will be lines out the 29th street mall to get in here.

Javier L.

Yelp
The ramen options are great and so are the appetizers though portions are a bit small. The staff seems a bit impatient and made me feel rushed when they realized that I was close to done with my meal. The location itself is small and made me feel cramped.

Peggy C.

Yelp
We went to Rakkan Ramen in Boulder, Colorado for lunch today. We had been there once before. I indicated a specific allergy and asked about a couple of menu items. I specifically indicated my allergy several times and worked at accommodation. When the food came, it was filled with the item I indicated as my allergy. Of the items brought, all were filled with this item, and I couldn't eat what we paid for. I could only eat the plain rice from the order. I got out of my chair to talk with the waiter about a condiment because the waiters were inattentive. The 2 waiters in the restaurant did not check on us at any time during our "meal." They were visible from our table. They hung out with each other and with their phones for our time there. We still received the bill and their expectation of a tip. We offered a basic tip, but should not have. This was a very disappointing meal without service.

Yelp
Loved the variety in ramen flavors! Portions are huge and tasty. Perfect when you're craving a great bowl of ramen!
google avatar

Kelly E.

Yelp
The broth in our ramen was *meh* and lacked the savory umami that we're used to when eating good ramen - we were hoping for more based on the reviews.

Jack W.

Yelp
Food was good, portions were a bit small, service was poor quality. They were in a rush to get us out the door, despite it being not busy and middle of day.

Michele S.

Yelp
Delicious! And great service. Richard is amazing! He's very professional & knowledgeable. His recommendation was spot on.

Yelp
It's a great place to eat if you want a bowl of noodles though it's kinda pricy for ramen lol.
google avatar

Audra J.

Yelp
We got two orders of ramen and while the broth was great- the noodles were wheat based and just not what we were expecting. Good enough, but not that comfort-food level that we were seeking out! May come back and try some of the other noodle options.

Yelp
Service was great. Staff is super friendly. I liked the sitting area and food was good. No complaints.

Yelp
Have been here maybe half a dozen times. Big fan of the takoyaki octopus appetizer. The ramen is decent as well. My go to is the Garnet. Easy to find location in the mall next to Chipotle.
