"Dutchman Dirk de Graaff left a demanding consulting position in Hong Kong to become a hotelier in Siem Reap , falling for Cambodia’s natural beauty, smiling residents, and laid-back way of life. He ran the first gay-friendly guesthouse in town before opening two hotels, a boutique hotel and the more upscale Rambutan Resort, a 16-room property, where he’s successfully re-created the traits that led him to the country in the first place. The simple but stylish rooms employ local, natural materials, with custom-made, chocolate-brown and white-flecked sugar-palm beds (of eco-friendly wood), brightly hued silk lamps, and private outdoor terrazzo soaking tubs. Modern Asian art—including comical pieces by Chinese artist Yue Minjun—adorns the walls. A lovely slate-and-stone tiled, tree-shaded pool anchors the property, its cascading water feature lending a meditative quality. And though Rambutan’s flair is more than enough reason to stay, it’s the exceedingly personable staff that makes it a true standout. Guests are welcomed like old friends (many are on return visits); the affable check-in crew and servers artfully walk the line between doing their jobs and making time for a chat. De Graaff invests in his team—providing scholarships to further their careers in hospitality, for instance—and their mutual affection for the place shows."
"In many cases “hotel and resort” is just a fancy way of saying “hotel,” but Rambutan Hotel & Resort styles itself as two properties in one, side by side in the heart of old Siem Reap, just across the river from the city center. To be perfectly fair, they share everything, including the spa, the swimming pools, and the restaurant and bar. But the two wings of accommodations do have their own distinct identities: the hotel side is made up of Balcony Villa rooms, most of them in a two-story duplex orientation, while the resort wing contains Deluxe Terrace rooms with or without rooftop space." - Tablet Hotels

"This charming boutique property features Khmer-style villas arranged around two saltwater pools and lush gardens, offering three room types (balcony villa, deluxe terrace and deluxe rooftop) with dramatic garden views. Guests can opt for in-room dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner, relax at an on-site spa, or enjoy cocktails at a bar that emphasizes locally infused flavors; the hotel also houses its own restaurant and dining spaces for a full-service stay." - Tara FT Sering
I see some wonderful reviews here, not sure where their perspective comes from, I'm trying to write In a constructive way. Agree the grounds and staff are wonderful, but the description of the hotel says "Polished Villas", maybe at one time but time passes and things become dull. The rooms need investment in maintenance and updates; doors not closing, water coming under the door in rain, limited lighting and minimal outlets. There was a can of "Raid" In the closet, but thankfully we did not see any bugs and the room was clean.

Central to Siem Reap in a nice quiet neighbourhood, close to walk to central city and attractions. The most welcoming staff. Nice swimming pool. Owner was very friendly. Would definitely come back and stay. We stayed in Urban B apartment plenty of room to relax. Happy Hour from 5-7pm each day. Highly recommend the Khmer Martini.

Had an amazing stay here during low season. My apartment B was outstanding. Everything I needed. Local drivers and staff were so welcoming and wonderful. Owner was so kind. I really enjoyed my five days here. The pool, my apartment, cooking meals and exploring the area. It was magical. Rainy season was perfect for seeing the temples too

Just got back from this hotel. Stayed for 10 nights with my wife. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was at the top of some very steep stairs. Which was difficult to climb a few times a day, it looked over the pool which was being repaired at the time of our visit. Breakfast was good enough to start the day off. The location was about a 10 minute walk to pub street. On the street there is a small shop that offers washing your clothes for $1 per kilo with next day collection. The rooms were cleaned daily and topped up with water, tea and coffee. This hotel offers great value for money. |

Love at first sight : this hotel had my heart the moment we climbed the steep stairs to our room (which felt like a tree house) and i saw the layout of the hotel from our balcony. It is not very big but very well thought out. It's eco friendly and trying to be sustainable while still offering most of the amenities. All the rooms have balconies looking at the saltwater swimming pool in the central courtyard. I wish I had more time to enjoy this hotel. The breakfast is really good too. I fell in love with the Cambodian breakfast dish of Bahn Sung there
The best part of the hotel is that it is bang centre of the busy part of town so we only walked 5 mins to the markets, night market and pub street.
P.s. theres a cat cafe right next to it with the cutest friendliest cats.

We had a great stay here a few years ago — the perfect place to relax while visiting Angkor Wat. The hotel is LGBT-friendly, clean, and well-maintained, and the staff were very helpful. Our room featured an outdoor bath on the balcony, which was a wonderful addition.
