The Best Ramen in Portland, Beaverton, and Beyond | Eater Portland

"Ramen Ryoma had already accrued a loyal pack of devotees over its time in Beaverton, but the centrally located shop in downtown Portland is a welcome respite for those who live in the city itself. Ryoma offers a wide swath of ramen varieties and permutations, with a choice of broth, topping combinations, and a la carte add-ons. The shio stands out, though any of the base broths will work well; however, the real move is to opt for one of the tricked out bowls, be it the chile-laden spicy umami, the tamago mayu with its slick of black garlic oil, or the Sapporo-style corn butter ramen, best paired with miso broth." - Zoe Baillargeon

Incredible Ramen! The broth flavors are crazy, the depth and richness was excellent. Absolutely worth it! The garlic Edamame was wicked! The staff members who greeted us and served us we very friendly, and the food came out very quickly. Definitely a highlight of our trip to Portland

From the moment we were greeted we knew this was going to be a great experience! All of our food was delicious! We've had lots of takoyaki and the egg served with it here was a unique addition that really elevated it. Very good prices and the staff was very attentive. Open late on the weekend as well, definitely recommend and plan on coming back in the future!

Got seated right away, great service. Ramen was delicious, it had the perfect amount of spice. Also, cannot go wrong with salted edamame. Would come back here, recommend!

Google
OISHI! Absolutely delicious! Karate is a must with Ryu ramen, and an ice cold Sapporo! instant happiness! Reminiscent of my time in the streets of Tokyo! Ramen no too soft and just boiled to perfection! Highly recommend!

Google
We love the Curry plate and we always add chicken to it to make it bigger. The taste of the pork and chicken here is awesome. The teriyaki chicken sticks are one of my favorite and they are super good price!!! Ramen is not my favorite dish in this restaurant just cause Portland have such a good ramen places but this one is one of the few good one that are open late. So definitely recommend if you want ramen and is late hahaha otherwise all the food here is awesome fresh and fast.

Google
Wow! We were seated immediately, after ordering we got our food so fast in like 5 minutes! I ordered the deluxe ramen with shio; it was very filling and the 3 slices of chasu pork were so soft, tender, and juicy! The noodles were a good thickness and had a good chew/bounce to it. Good amount of veggies (generous amount of green onion and bean sprouts). The soft boiled egg was perfect, so soft and the yolk was nice and gooey, marinated just right. I added the black garlic oil, would get it again as it has a nice toasted flavor to it. My husband got the deluxe with miso, large, also with the black garlic oil and he was satisfied with the taste/portion as well. They are so efficient here, turn around on the tables is amazing! I appreciate the immediate acknowledgement/shout out on entry/exit, really felt like a valued customer who was seen and heard. Would highly recommend this place! Great comfort food! The front looks small but there’s actually so many tables/lots of seating available. I guarantee you won’t regret giving this place a try, you’ll get a yummy, absolutely delicious and reasonably priced meal! =)

Google
Can’t say enough good things about this place. Been coming here for a little over a year now and the deliciousness of the ramen hasn’t changed - it’s perhaps only gotten better. Great staff, great food and great experience every time. Can’t wait to stop in again here soon and have another bowl … twist my arm and I might have to throw in a Sapporo too.🍺🍜 👀.

Google
“A Ramen Spot with Rich, Deep Flavors—I’ll Definitely Be Back” Food: You can choose between shoyu, miso, or salt-based broth. We tried miso and salt, and both were excellent—not overly salty at all. The noodles were smooth and perfectly cooked. Service: The staff were very friendly and took the time to explain the menu. Ambiance: Cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The seating can feel a bit tight, but overall it adds to the charm.

Yelp
service was really fast, portions were awesome, ramen is really good. the pork belly was not too fatty so it was really good. edamame was really good and salty. would totally recommend

Yelp
Late dinner and first time to this area of Portland. Ordered $5 draft Sapporo and jumped into a bowl of "Killer Spicy" miso ramen. Wow! Not disappointed! Savory broth and unctuous (yes, actually used this adjective) finish without feeling too oily or greasy. Ramen was cooked perfectly - al dente in chew with perfect crispness and flavor. Probably one of the best ramen shop I've been to in the West Coast. Bravo! Service was efficient and quick. Friendly staff and no frills. Perfect ambience. Need to return to try karage and other dishes. Five-stars....Highly recommend!

Yelp
the service was good and fast, the ramen came out quick and was very hot i got the spicy umami ramen with miso broth and it was fairly spicy but i loved it my fiance got the deluxe ryoma ramen with miso broth and his was good as well - the meat in both ramens was amazingly soft and not fatty it's a small building but it was packed when we went in despite it being empty out on the streets which was surprising and it looks like a lot of locals like this place

Yelp
This is the place I keep coming back to for Ramen. They have great broth, very good noodles, and it seems like the pricing is spot on. The fried chicken is a nice start. And the service is fast.

Yelp
Let me preface this with we used to live in Japan. So we set a high bar for Japanese food. We ordered miso ramen, tamago mayu ramen (shio soup base), takoyaki, and an Onigoroshi. The miso and takoyaki were solid. Both very good but not the absolute best. But the tamago mayu ramen was the best I've had outside of Japan. I try a lot of ramen too so that's really high praise coming from me. The noodles were perfect in both soups which didn't happen too often either. Usually they are cooked too much or not enough but not here. Perfect. I would absolutely seek out this restaurant again if I'm in the Portland area. My only complaint is the egg must be precooked and chilled because it was cool in both soups. The service was great, the people cooking were having a great time. It was a cool place. Small, not a ton of seating which I think is fine.

Yelp
ORDERED: Chicken Karaage - it was sooo good; moist, buttery, tender inside, and yet flavorful. However, I found a small position in one of the pieces to be undercooked. Tamago Ramen - we get a choice of miso base, shio base, and shoyu base. I opted for the miso base. The ramen itself was okay. I found it to be a bit bitter. Matcha Tiramisu - it was good. You can taste the bittiness of the matcha, which speaks on the quality of the matcha itself. Not so much sweetness to it tho... SERVICE: It was on point and fast. AMBIANCE: It was very nice and yet classic. They have table seatings + bar seatings available.

Yelp
Located in downtown, the parking is limited to paid street parking only. When we came, it was cash only which was kind of inconvenient as we had to go to the ATM to take cash out. The ramen overall was good, I liked that the broth wasn't overall salty and the noodle texture was just right. The portion size was just right as well. The place was a small corner restaurant and service was fast. Pretty solid ramen spot
google avatar

Yelp
Luckily this ramen spot was open late-night! Great tasting broth, not too salty. Chewy noodles and juicy karaage!
google avatar

Yelp
I respect Ramen Ryoma for keeping a simple, traditional menu that allows them to focus more on quality over quantity. The ramen was pretty good, though the soy-based broth I had with mine was a little more oily than I was expecting. Still, the dish tasted great, and the service was equally fantastic. Very prompt at every point in the experience. Definitely a good spot for ramen in this part of Portland!

Yelp
Takeout Review I called in to place an order and it was fast and easy. The card machine wasn't working so that was an issue since I didn't have enough cash at hand. They were also accepting venmo which proved to be helpful . I arrived on the time they gave, and the food was ready. The Ramen was well packed and so easy to carry in the car. We got the Killer spicy ,Tamago Mayu and Gyoza. The Staff recommended to get the Shio and Miso broths . I added egg and Black garlic as additional toppings as well . Both the Ramens were extremely flavorful and hearty . The Killer spicy as the name suggests has got intense heat so be cautious if you have a low tolerance . I have a good threshold for spice but I just couldn't finish the whole thing in one sitting but yayyy for leftovers. Next day I added more broth and that made the intensity go down a little bit .The noodles for this one are slightly thicker but soak up all the flavour really well . on the other hand -You cant go wrong with the Tamago Mayu -it has that nice umami notes with a very nice bite to the noodles. Price is very fair and good portion sizes.

Yelp
This is quick walk from the big famous Portland bookstore. We don't typically come to downtown Portland or walk its streets but the weather was nice. The food here is as good as the one in Beaverton. We were seated quickly and the service here is also the same friendly service we get from the Beaverton Branch.

Yelp
Cold day equals Ramen day! Very few places were open in Downtown due to the snow so we opted to try this place. We waited around 5 minutes and were quickly seated. We had the butter corn ramen, seaweed salad, steamed edamame and the largest order of the kaarage chicken. All of the food was good but I've had better. The kaarage chicken needed a bit more in the fryer as the outside was softer than I'd like. Also the ramen was good. We added extra noodles which were bouncy and chewy. The heater was on full blast. Make sure to wear layers because it gets hot inside.
google avatar

Sara N.

Yelp
The Beaverton location was my go to for ramen when I'm in that area but now there is one so much closer! The seatings are close to one another but you don't notice it as you talk and eat at your table. It's a small restaurant and it gives an authentic feeling still. The staff were friendly and checked up on us regularly. The spicy umami ramen with miso was really good, the broth is creamier than Shio which is on the saltier and side. 8.5/10

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch on a weekday and there was only a 2 minute wait! The inside is clean and there is a decent amount of seating. I will say they have one of those community tables which Ive never enjoyed in any restaurant but i understand its for space. We ordered and our food came quickly. I got the Black Garlic Ramen and when it arrived it smelt delicious! I did notice that the charsiu was ice cold. I asked the waiter if it was supposed to be like that and they said it was. I've never had charsiu cold in my ramen, but maybe I just never noticed, i don't know. Overall, the ramen was very tasty. The garlic flavor was strong but not overpowering. The noodles were also tender and cooked perfectly. Definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
Ramen Ryoma is a good, local Portland ramen restaurant. They have a small menu but the ramen is delicious and they allow you to customize your meal as you want. The service is quick and the staff is friendly. They are also open late for anyone needing a late night meal.
google avatar

Yelp
Best ramen I have ever had - hands down. I went here three times during a business trip to Portland and it was such a great wonderful place to eat. The restaurant is small so takeout is sometimes a better option and the servers leave you alone so it's a very basic service level but the food is worth it
google avatar

Jennifer O.

Yelp
The service was good, I really like the interior and ambiance. I only got the one ramen and it was good, I wish there was more broth.
google avatar

Marylyn T.

Yelp
So glad I don't have to drive across town for ramen anymore! Ramen Ryoma is my favorite spot to grab a hearty bowl of ramen, and they stay open late (11:30pm on weekends). They have an assortment of ramens to choose from, then you choose your soup base to pair with it. My favorite is the Deluxe Ramen with Miso Soup. Pretty heavy dish, would recommend if you like pork as they give you three slices of their super soft chasiu. I always get their chicken kaarage as well! Crispy outside and juicy inside. Squeeze some lemon & dip it with spicy Mayo. Garlic edamame was too garlicky (I can't believe I said that, I know), but it made my mouth tingle lol. I'd stick to regular edamame.
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty mediocre ramen with the noodles and broth being the highlights (which admittedly is the most important part of ramen) and the toppings being average at best. I walked here because it was close to my hotel and got good reviews so I thought I would check it out. There was no wait though moderately busy on a Tuesday night so that seemed promising. The ambiance is pretty standard, no frills, nothing that really pushes their personalities but I usually don't care that much about ambiance unless it's fine dining. The staff isn't that friendly but not rude either. I ordered the shio (salt) ramen because that's one of the hardest things to do - not letting the base broth overwhelm the simplicity of the salt flavor. I also ordered the seaweed salad and 2 pieces of their karaage (fried chicken). The fold came out pretty quick with the seaweed salad first. This was gross. Clearly something purchased in bulk, worse than what you could get at a Japanese market. Don't recommend this at all. The crispy chicken was good. The outer part wasn't a traditional karaage but crispy and the chicken was juicy. Pretty solid karaage. Then the ramen came. I added the spicy meat and egg. The broth was pretty tasty. You could taste the pork and the depth of the broth. But it also wasn't so thick and heavy that it overwhelmed the salt flavor. Well done there. The noodles are thicker noodles with a nice chewiness and tastes handmade. However, the toppings were cold and it was jarring in this hot bowl of ramen. The eggs were a little over cooked and the spicy meat, while spicy, lacked any other flavor. All in all, I feel like Portland must have better ramen and unless you don't want to wait or can't make it to one of the better ones, I don't recommend this spot.

Yelp
This is a great spot if you work downtown or are just nearby for whatever reason. I was always curious how they stack up compared to the Beaverton location (since that is where I live). The experience is pretty much the same. Although, it's been a few years since I had been to the other spot, I remember the meat portion to be a little more generous and fattier (which I like). The soup here is lighter and more flavorful. I got the miso base, so it was a bit salty, but still good. Service was fast and friendly.
google avatar

Sara N.

Yelp
Black Garlic Ramen - very tasty. Not overpowering with the garlic taste. I got this with miso and it wasn't overly salty. Noodles had a great texture to it. I think we got the deluxe which included the egg and bean sprouts. We got an ice cold Sapporo to go with the ramen. Service was great, everyone was so friendly and they had cute shirts on, on that wasn't on sale but one worker offered to give me theirs haha. Cute little ramen place but it's the only one I tried in the area but overall great taste. We walked to idk about parking in the area - sorry. We went for a late lunch on a Friday so no wait. Leaving I guess there was an issue with the door cause people were detoured for a bit but when we left it we were able to exit and the AC above the door leaked on my head, not a huge deal but I think that's why people were detoured? Not sure.

Yelp
Great spot for ramen in Portland. I tried the ryoma deluxe ramen with the miso base as well as the chicken karaage. Both were solid options. The karaage was crispy and juicy and the portion size was okay. As per the ramen, the meat was so tender and it just melted in your mouth. The soft boiled egg was cooked right. Broth was good but maybe a tad on the saltier end. But still good. Also I loved the vibe inside and all of the decor. Plus servers were very attentive.
google avatar

R B.

Yelp
Went here with a coworker. The menu is nice and clear - I likened the way it explained the different broth options. I had a spicy ramen bowl. It was good. Also cheap beers made it enjoyable. The octopus app (Tayoyaki) was not great tasting.
google avatar

Adria T.

Yelp
FIVE OUT OF FIVE! Delicious!! So delicious that I didn't take many photos. Highly recommend the Apple sake, the gyoza and the spicy umami ramen. I will be back here again and again!
google avatar

Arthur T.

Yelp
Had Ramen Ryoma quite a few times visiting Portland for work. It is convenient that the spot is next to Hyatt Centric (where I stayed). Ordered takeout each time. -deluxe ryoma ramen shoyu, super size -karaage 8pc, odd to charge 25 cents for spicy mayo -gyoza was good Overall, ramen was good. A bit on the pricier end. Had the deluxe ramen with shio next time around. Both were good. Street parking only. Huge shoutout to them being open during the snow storm in end Feb'23.
google avatar

Jen H.

Yelp
Came here randomly on a Sunday, and was surprisingly delicious. Ordered: 1) Spicy Miso Ramen 3.5/5: Asked for not too spicy. They put the pepper on the side. 2) Chicken Karaage: 4/5 Yum and large portion! Service was great. Ambiance great! Solid restaurant.

Yelp
This has been my favorite ramen place overall for balance of value and outstanding flavor for quite a long time. We've been going to Beaverton, often just to have lunch here. Imagine my surprise when I found this while walking somewhere else. Hurray! Cyclists of Portland take note! This is the perfect thing for carbo-loading before your ride or your next leg of your ride. I think it can power even the most avid spandex cycle bandit for a whole day. The broth here is made wonderful by the use of black garlic oil in many of the options and you can add it if you want (more)! I love to add more negi (chopped green onion) and ordered the miso broth and Deluxe Ryoma ramen. I usually HATE boiled eggs, but these are so perfectly done, especially if you let them warm in the broth a bit, maybe eat them toward the middle of your bowl... or, caressing them with care, move them to the rear of your bowl and whisper to them "see you later!" (c'mon, how can you eat ramen without at least thinking of the movie Tampopo, A Japanese Noodle Western, at least a few times...). R.I.P., Juzo Itami. The noodles are stretchy and toothsome. The deluxe comes with three (THREE!) thick pieces of pork, full of fatty, melt in your mouth goodness. I drained my bowl completely (again, if you watch Tampopo, you might remember that leaving soup is a way of telling the chef his stock isn't good!). Unfortunately, the blood test I had later (no, seriously, just a coincidence, but...) showed my triglycerides over 500. Oh well, it's a good way to go Pro Tips: The sides here are also great, including Takoyaki, gyoza, and Karaage and you can make a wonderful tapas-style meal even for two just with these if you aren't in the mood for ramen!
google avatar

Mike G.

Yelp
In from out of town and needed something quick and healthy and the # 5 did the trick Very good, will be back! Keep up the good work!
google avatar

Kyle T.

Yelp
Stopped in for late night ramen during a visit to Portland. Their quick service was appreciated on a cold night. Ordered black garlic shoyu with gluten free noodles. GF noodles were good quality and enjoyable to eat. The ramen was delicious and hit the spot for Portland weather. Went back a second time later in the week for dinner to try the deluxe style shoyu with GF noodles. It was also great but black garlic was my favorite.
google avatar

Iris L.

Yelp
10/10 recommend! Tried their other location and this one in DT Pdx just as good!! They have great appetizers and 10/10 recommend their takoyaki served on top of egg salad, soooo bomb! I asked for it well done so it would be extra crispy, what an orgasmic bite! Tamago mayu ramen is also 10/10, we did miso broth with the ramen that's already rich in black garlic oil, sooooo good! 10/10 Beer, Japanese Beer and 34oz for $10 at that. so chilled and refreshing, light and paired well with our food. 10/10 pricing is very competitive with local downtown eatery and parking have to take a bit to search for parallel on the street. 10/10!!!!!! must come here!!!
google avatar

Kristin P.

Yelp
This was the best ramen spot I have ever been to. I finished the entire bowl (which I never can finish anything) so you know it was a winner! This is officially my fav ramen spot and it'll likely be yours too.
google avatar

Zabrina G.

Yelp
Good food! Karaage was cooked perfectly, nice and juicy. Miso was also good, sesame was very prevalent in the flavor. Would definitely eat again especially for the price. A 2 piece of Karaage, 2 bowls of ramen, & a Sapporo for $38!!!
google avatar

Farah M.

Yelp
Place was cozy and we were seated right away. The waiter was very pleasant and patiently explained some details of the menu. I got to taste both Miso and Shoyu based ramen, and both were delicious. Karaage was crunchy and juicy. Takoyaki tasted unique. Food price was decent. Definitely a place to consider when your shopping downtown or just craving delicious ramen.
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
Ducked in for a quick bowl of ramen. The weather's been chilly, and soup sounded perfect. They were pretty busy, even though I went in at 2:45pm. I sat at the bar and the waitress took my order as soon as I was ready. Another server brought me a cup of water right away, even though no one had prompted him to do it. It was really clear that while they had a lot of staff working, no one was slacking off. I had a bowl of the spicy miso ramen. It was good; totally hit the spot, and the price was right. I'd definitely be open to coming back again.
google avatar

Daniel N.

Yelp
My friend kept telling me to try this place for their karakage. Initially I was skeptical and pushed it off... cause how can karakage be life changing? Finally I walked by this place and decided to stop by. Place is moderately busy but getting seating is fairly quick. I ordered the 8 piece chicken karakage and tamagotchi ramen. When the chicken came out I was shocked how much chicken was served. The chicken was fried to perfection and sooooo juicy and flavorful. I could come here for just the chicken itself. Every bite into the chicken gave me a head rush. I just wanted to keep on eating. It was not oily or soggy, and I didn't not feel gross after eating it. The ramen is great too, but if you come here get the karakage.
google avatar

Bryan K.

Yelp
Ramen Ryoma is your best bet for late night ramen in Portland. They are open long hours every night. The service was quick but nothing spectacular. The food was ok as well. The ramen was good with a nice broth. A little saltier for my liking but I find that to be the case in a lot of ramen places in the area. The karrage was very mediocre in my opinion and I would probably skip that next time. The restaurant is nice and clean and the seats are nicely spaced apart.
google avatar

Ariel G.

Yelp
Such yummy ramen! Eat here. You will not regret it. Kind staff, quick service, average prices for ramen. I have only been here for lunch, but never had a wait. The dining room is nothing special and ambience is nothing to gawk at, but we are here for the noodles! Pro tip - order the super size for a ton more food for $2.70 more and have leftovers. Lunch date said "this shits fire"
google avatar

Alison T.

Yelp
Have visited this restaurant's sister site next to Uwajimaya a number of times. This location is smaller but dishes out the same great ramen. Miso is my fave Umami in my belly Gonna eat it all The basic ramen comes with charsiu pork, nori, bean sprouts. And you can add on any dozen of extras (veggies, egg, tofu) for about $1 each. Next page of the menu has deluxe options in case you want to kick it up a notch inn tends of spice or accoutrements. We also had takoyaki. These were okay. For the first time not hot hot hot, tho on the plus side I didn't burn my taste buds.
google avatar

Annika P.

Yelp
This was an amazing meal! My best friend brought me because she loved it when she came before. And it was so GOOD! We both got the miso broth with our ramen and it was fantastic. The broth was smooth and flavorful, the pork was tender, and all the toppings were delicious and fresh. The vegetable spring rolls were also so fresh and so crispy. It was a fabulous dinner. The restaurant was fun, the employees were friendly, and our food came out really quickly. I'll definitely be coming back again.
google avatar

Monica G.

Yelp
Our first night in Portland, we found this gem. The ramen was flavorful. The service was fast. The only complaint was that our Takoyaki was not cooked all the way. We informed our waiter and were offered a remake, but we chose not to take it. Good service and food.
google avatar

Jill S.

Yelp
Came here around 6:30 on a weekday night. Not too full but by the time we left most tables were occupied. Very welcoming and friendly, I'll give them that! Perhaps a little too friendly where I was asked not 3 minutes apart by two separate staff if I was finished with my ramen which I wasn't. The second time I said for the second time I'm not. I think that intimidated them because they never came back to check on us so I had empty water and we had to go to the counter to order more tea and request the check. Also my dining companion and the ramen ordered to go...both ended up in sick in the bathroom all night. I'd recommend they assign staff to tables so that there aren't multiple people asking you the same question. Food was good. I enjoyed my deluxe ramen and juicy karaage 2-piece with spicy mayo. Price was decent as was the meat portion for the ramen. I can see based on reviews my exp is probably a one off so could be worth checking out.
google avatar

Jeanette V.

Yelp
Best ramen I've ever had! Husband and I dropped by Friday night for a late meal. Business was busy with lots of locals dining in. This was a good sign for us. I went with the server's rec and ordered the Tamago Mayu Ramen with miso broth. Husband ordered the deluxe Ryoma Ramen with miso broth. Both were delicious, super hot temperature, and such tender meat. We also had Gyoza to start which were so flavorful. Only downside is they are very busy, so they try getting you in and out quickly. Keep this in mind if you're looking for a group outing. Likely not the place to hang out afterwards.

Yelp
Rating (maximum points = 5) Value for money: 5 Cleanliness: 4 Food Quality: 5 Customer Service: 5 Look and Feel (Ambiance): 4 Traveling to Portland this weekend and was recommended to try out this ramen shop. We had a group of 10 and I was worried that we wouldn't be able to get a table. To our surprise, the staff accommodated our party and helped us place our orders quickly. Chicken Karage - This was a crowd favorite. Our party really liked the crispiness of the chicken and the meat was very tender. They offer spicy mayo and sweet chili for dipping sauces. Tamago Mayu Ramen - The Black Garlic Oil on top of the miso broth was very flavorful. The seasoned soft boiled egg had a creamy tasty center and the chasu pork slice was tender and not too chewy. Overall, the staff was welcoming and served up our dishes fast. The food was perfect and comforting for the rainy Portland weather. The shop is small and cozy but they can absolutely accommodate a party of 10. Unfortunately the tables were a bit greasy and the floor was quite sticky, but it wasn't too bad. Would you go? Let me know. Follow me for all the sips and trips.

Liz C.

Yelp
Everything. The Karaage, Ramen & Spring Rolls were what we had. Would definitely return.
google avatar

Shanna C.

Yelp
The ramen here is truly bursting with flavor! If you are a fan of spice, I highly recommend getting the killer spicy ramen. It is definitely spicy but still enjoyable. I really like the texture of the noodle here-- a little chewy, not too soggy. The broth is also incredibly flavorful. I also really enjoy the karage here. What is not to love about juicy fried pieces of chicken... Service here is fast, and everyone is always so kind!

This quickly became a favorite spot for my husband, who loves ramen. The ramen are authentic and quality is consistent every time we've been. The orders always come out very fast! The chashu pork melts in your mouth, and the eggs are cooked with yolk softened (the right way). It's not pricy either. Really no complaints!

Yelp
Our order: tamago mayu with shio, spicy ramen with miso and kaarage Mayu (black garlic oil) is one of my favourite flavors. For this particular bowl, it added a dimension and layer to the light-tasting shio broth, and gave the soup more pizazz and umami. The chashu was the right amount of fatty and lean, and the tamago had texture like custard. The kaarage was done well and I felt that it only needed a drizzle of freshly squeezed lemon juice. T'was a reasonably priced meal in this economy with fair service. We went around 2pm and this little shop around the corner was seated full.

Yelp
I'm so happy that Ramen Ryoma opened up a location in downtown! Their ramen broth and flavors are always consistent, and decently priced as well! I always get their miso ramen and gyoza. Their customer service at this location is good as well. Very attentive, kind, and welcoming. Before, the restaurant had limited seating. But they rented out the space next door as well so they can fit more people / larger parties.

Yelp
Went to this location as opposed to the one in Beaverton, and I'm aware that the Beaverton location is more highly regarded. Pricing - thought the price of the bowls we got were very reasonable. Around $12 base price for the ramen, and then an additional $1-2 to make it a large or super size. Ramen itself was okay. I got the spicy umami ramen with miso broth, super-sized, but an egg was an additional $1. The ramen came with only one slice of chashu pork, some bean sprouts, sliced green onion, and nori. Noodles were decent and had some bounce. Broth was very rich, but also too creamy in a way, and made the bowl overall very heavy and dense. Had I chosen the shoyu or shio broth, perhaps my review would be different, but I also felt that the broth was too salty. In terms of spice, I liked how spicy my broth was and didn't think it was too spicy. My friend got the vegetarian ramen and subbed the vegetables for chicken karaage (he has a pork dietary restriction), and our server informed us that the vegetarian ramen broth does not use any pork. His broth tasted significantly different than mine - almost nutty in a way? Overall, it's an OK ramen spot if you're craving ramen in the city. The price of the ramen definitely made up for the flavor, so if you're just hungry, this might be a good spot for you. I'd still be willing to give the Ryoma location in Beaverton a second chance.

Yelp
Be sure to get the karagge chicken. It's lightly fried and so crispy and juicy. The garlic ramen is highly recommended.
