Disclaimer: I didn't eat here. My story for why: I was visiting Key West for the first time and my local friend suggested we go here for breakfast on a Sunday. There was NO line when we walked up to the hostess stand. The hostesses almost could not be bothered to acknowledge us, and with a begrudged behavior, put our name on the wait list telling us it would be 10-15 minutes. We asked if they were still serving breakfast, and the hostesses confirmed that they were serving breakfast for another hour. So, we waited for our table by standing next to the hostess stand. Other people including a family with a little girl and elderly couples came up after us, all were told 15/20/25 minute waits. A crowd formed and continued to grow.
Thirty or so many minutes later of us standing around and seeing lots of empty tables and no one being seated, I asked how much longer and noted that I was worried we wouldn't be able to get breakfast. The hostesses, again on bored droll, said it would be five more minutes but that they weren't serving breakfast. "But you said you served breakfast until one," I responded. "Yeah, but our grill broke." We were standing next to these women for the better portion of an hour, we'd had a conversation about how we wanted to be seated for breakfast, and they decided not to communicate anything about the change (don't even know how they found out about the grill being broken since it wasn't like I saw them having conversations with other staff), and they just kept lining people up. If the grill was broken, how were they serving most of their lunch choices?
We left (and we're very famished at this point), but not before I watched an older woman explain that she could see empty tables and why couldn't the hostesses just seat people so they could sit down. The hostesses refused to meet her compromise.
On future visits to Key West, I won't be tempted to try going to this place again.
