Rancho Estero

Friendly hosts, a simple yet clean and comfortable room that is a fair price, great location right by a fun beginner wave as well as walking distance to restaurants along the quiet road. My favorite parts were lounging in the hammocks enjoying the incredible beach view, tasty and hearty breakfasts made by Elli, and excellent surf lessons from Zigor. I’d love to stay here again.

We absolutely loved our 1 week stay at Rancho Estero. Elli , Zigor and the kids are amazing hosts. They have a variety of surf boards to rent and can help you with anything- from surf lessons to recommended activities. We loved our cabin with our little garden overlooking Estero Beach. Waking up and going to sleep with the sounds of the ocean, having our morning coffee in peace and quiet in front of the beach. Even in the busy week of Christmas, it was such a quiet gem and we were so lucky to find this place. Thank you so much Elli and Zigor, we hope to be back soon ❤️

Had a fantastic time at Rancho Estero. Cozy cabins overlooking the beach, great breakfast. The hosts Elli and Zigor make you feel right at home. Surf lessons with Zigor were in a small group and super fun and helpful. 100% recommended!

The place is beautiful, looks like paradise. The hosts are super friendly and very helpful, and it is directly on the most beautiful beach of Santa Catalina and close to other hotels and hostels, so it’s easy to meet other people. They not only offer surf lessons (really good!), but also arrange snorkeling and riding tours.

We booked a 3 night stay at Rancho Estero recently. Rancho Estero is somewhat akin to a glamping stay, with little cabanas, and in our case, two shared bathrooms to use. There is also an outdoor kitchen for shared use and a patio with hammocks and chairs for lounging. The managers, Eli and Zigor, were lovely and made the stay very memorable. We booked a package with breakfast and two days of surfing lessons. The breakfasts were lovely- Eli gave us a choice of three options each day - and we had a great time with Zigor in the ocean (and learned a great deal!).

I really recommend this place if you want to go to Santa Catalina. This is a charming hostel managed by a nice family. Eli, Sigor and their two children are lovely and made us feel like home. We made a surf camp and enjoyed it a lot. Sigor is a passionate teacher and provide good advice. We made a lot of progress thanks to him. The breakfast prepared by Eli were fresh, big and delicious. You can also rent surf board if you don't want to take lessons and they have different board for different level and this is good material.

I stayed here in August for a week with a friend and we had an AMAZING time. It was just what we wanted- on the beach, simple, great people, chill, etc.. We took surf lessons everyday and Zigor was an amazing teacher. I was shocked I was able to catch a wave on my first day. Elli made delicious muesli for us every morning and we loved their kids. We were able to walk into town or prepare food in the outdoor kitchen. The accommodations were simple so don't expect classic "luxury" but if you're the kind of person who loves to sleep under a mosquito net to the sound of waves crashing, read your book in a hammock watching the sunset, take outdoor showers, and surf on a secluded beach (literally so quiet!) then THIS is the place for you.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for three nights and we LOVED it! The ranch looks lovely, the cabins are comfortable and the view is amazing. Falling asleep and waking up with the sound of the ocean made us feel very relaxed and peaceful. We had a great first surf lesson with Zigor and he also gave us a few good recommendations on where to have a drink. The family living on the ranch is caring and loving, overal the vibe was great! We were very sad to leave after three nights. Definitely recommended! You won’t regret it :)
