We had a great experience horseback riding on the beach! The property is absolutely stunning, and we even got to see some wildlife in the jungle trails! Our whole family had a great time, with some experienced riders and some who had never sat on a horse. The less experienced riders were not given very much instruction but the horses were very well behaved and the guides were attentive. They gave us the option to canter on the beach in the end which was a blast for our more experienced riders. We felt like the tour lasted about 30 minutes too long—ended in the complete dark, but we still appreciated the sunset and the experience. Thank you Rancho La Merced!

I’ve done horse trail riding before and never really enjoyed it, I’ve always found them boring. While in Uvita I signed up for a horseback ride even though it wasn’t my thing but I did it for my fiancé since she’s always loved horses. What I didn’t expect is how this experience would become my absolute favorite thing I’ve done in all of 9 days we spent in Costa Rica. Beautiful ranch, beautiful healthy horses and wonderful staff. Our guides Leandro and Adrian did a great job making our experience memorable. When we got to the beach, I asked Leandro for tips on how to comfortably and safely canter since it was something I was hoping to try but didn’t have the confidence to do. Leandro took the time to talk me through every little detail on how to ride where it was safe for me and the horse I was on. 10 minutes later, I was cantering and for the first time I realized that being on a horse is one of the greatest feelings I’ve ever experienced. Next time I’m Uvita, a visit to Rancho La Merced is on the top of my list. Thank you for an awesome time!

The Sunset Beach ride was incredible. We have been to several horseback rides in different countries traveled and this place was by far our favorite. The facilities were impressive upon arrival, then the team was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The horses were all in great condition, well fed and well taken care of. These people truly care about the animals not just making profit which was big for us. The tour takes you through their 100+ acre farm out to the beach where you’ll get more than you fair amount of time riding up and down the beach. As avid riders, they brought some of us away from the rest of the pack to fully gallop as much as we wanted multiple times while rest of group who were more beginners had a fun time continuing at a walk. They stopped the group and took many photos of the different parties on the beach. Again, was the best horseback riding experience we have had and can’t wait to come back on our next trip.

We had an amazing time! The guides were awesome, the horses were in great condition and the barn environment was clean and well cared for. For 3 advanced riders we were all pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed the entire ride from walking through their farm land to galloping on the beach while they kept the beginner riders safely together as well. Highly recommend!!

We have been many times and always love it! Edgar has been our guide the last couple times and he is so great at taking care that everyone has a great trip. He was especially careful to watch my wife and mother as they are a little nervous with horses. They had one of the best experiences of their lives and can’t stop talking about how perfect everything was!

Such an amazing horseback riding experience. As my first time riding a horse without any help lol I was a bit scared but Ivan & Edgar were so nice and helpful to help me feel comfortable safe during the ride. 100% recommend this experience to anyone who is considering doing a horseback riding tour. We had an unforgettable experience on the beach and forest horseback ride! From start to finish, everything was so thoughtfully organized. The horses were incredibly gentle and well cared for—perfect for our 8-year-old, who felt confident and safe the entire time. Our guide was absolutely amazing—knowledgeable, patient, and so kind, making sure everyone was comfortable and having fun. Riding through the forest and along the beach was magical, and it ended up being one of the absolute highlights of our trip. Highly recommend to families and anyone looking for a unique, peaceful adventure.
