Highlights

What we do best at Random Acts of Breadness is to lift the spirits of the people in our community. Folks of all ages come in, and when they get their first taste of our organic artisan sourdough we call "Breadness," we see that look of amazement, we hear the "hmmm's," the "wows," and we see the head nods. Is it possible to have a viable business based mostly on two types of artisan sourdough bread that takes 3 days to make? We don't have an answer to that yet, but as long as we're making people happier than when they walked in, we're going to keep making Breadness! (We also have artisan butters, jams, honeys, olive oils, balsamic vinegars, tapenades and other bread gift items...)

"Ice cream at Quenelle is so good that you'll be lucky to find standing room in this adorable little parlor. Flavors stick around for as long as one batch lasts, while a handful of favorites are reliable regulars. New intriguing tastes like Minty Melon sorbet are added daily, so theoretically you could have a different flavor everyday for years. Served on a stick, in a cup or a homemade waffle cone, stand-out winners like blueberry pie are unbelievably good. The key-lime pie and apple pie ice cream bars are crunchy cold versions of their tin pan cousins, and to top off your visit - you can enjoy endless taste tests." - Jennifer Beatty

I am the happiest gal right now. I’ve finally found a clean ingredient, gluten-neutral artisan bread! The amount of detail and care this place has for their products is honorable and appreciated so much. I’ve been gluten free for over a decade now and I’ve missed being able to eat sandwiches like this one. I also purchased their seasonal Maple Butter spread for a sweet and savory sandwich 😋

Google
Bread is off the charts no doubt about it. I truly appreciate what it takes to make such a quality bread. People were so kind and amazing. My only thought was at $16 a loaf thats over a $1 a slice if Im lucky. Hate to say this but I wouldnt go back. Even though I loved it. Thats the most I have ever spent on bread. But if you have the money then this is the place.

Street parking. Freshly made bread . Varieties of oil and vinegar to accompany. Get your card stamped to get a free loaf because a bit expensive. But delicious.

Google
Fantastic service and quality of their sourdough bread, They also give you a very nice tour of the place and how they make the Sourdough bread.

I love this place why haven't I been there before the bread is delicious the girl that helped the owner awesome thank you for a wonderful experience

Google
As a baker, this bread is above some bakeries; though the price gouging is audacious! You could make 5 loafs of great bread for 1 of this bakery at 16 bucks.... or go to a nonhipster establishment to get real bread. Eric Schats bakery is far from here but the prices are honest.

Google
I had the most amazing experience at this bakery! Not only is the bread delicious, the owners are the kindest most welcoming people I’ve met in a long time! Cyndie gave us a tour of the bakery, taught us about the process of making their sourdough, and more! When she found out it was my brother’s birthday, she made a whole gift bag of birthday goodies for him! Not joking, between how good this bread is, and how lovely the people are, this place truly restored a little of my faith in humanity.

On a rainy Saturday - my husband and I were on the hunt for some fresh bread to complete our grilled cheese/tomato soup craving. However after we arrived at Random Acts of Breadness we realized we were in for a lot more than just bread! The owners Randall & Cyndie couldn’t have been more generous with their time and attention - as a fellow baker - I loved the opportunity to see their set up and hear how they turned their passion into something so special! They already were 5 star before we left but getting home and tasting the bread just over emphasized how special these two are! Can’t wait to go back!

Yelp
I had the absolute pleasure of visiting the local sourdough bread bakery for the first time, and I cannot rave enough about my experience! From the moment I walked in, Cindy's warmth and friendliness made me feel right at home. She graciously offered us samples of their incredible bread, each bite a testament to the quality and care put into their products. What truly set this visit apart was the dedication to showcasing local vendors. It's clear that this bakery is not just a place to buy bread, but a community hub supporting local artisans. Cindy even gave us a fascinating tour, walking us through every step of their meticulous bread-making process. I was blown away by the craftsmanship and passion that goes into every loaf. It's hard to believe such a gem is only minutes away from my home. Cindy and her wonderful staff have certainly gained a customer for life. Thank you so much for your hard work and for creating such a warm, inviting space. I can't wait for my next visit!

Yelp
What a gem of a place in the heart of Burbank! I've been seeing this place on as I've passed by it a few times but boy am I glad I final stopped in. They are the friendliest set of people you'd ever meet. They had some samples that they offered me and my god it was the most delicious sourdough bread I've ever had. I bought a loaf of the traditional one which in some excited to eat this week. They have other items there and types of bread for sale too but I forgot to take a photo of the menu. I will say the loaf is on the pricier side at $16 a pop but you know what there's a lot of love, work, and delicious good ingredients that are used in the bread that makes it worth it. Plus supporting small business. Parking is street parking but plenty available. Definitely will be coming back :) thank you for your kindness and amazing bread.

Yelp
Sourdough is my favorite bread. My partner and I decided to check this new bread place out because we were nearby. First, they have a little vertical mail slot on the door that reads: free sniff preview Which I think is hilarious and brilliant. (See photo). The owner/baker, Randall is a musician who fell in love with baking sourdough. He chatted us up and told us his story while we taste tested his yummy bread. The space is small and set up for shop and go and pick up orders. Don't plan on enjoying your loaf right there on the spot although magnolia park is a lovely place to stroll around and dive into a tasty treat. This place used to be Quenelle ice cream (which I did not enjoy). I'm not sure what it was before that. But now it's bread. My ultimate weakness. The bread is delicious. We've been enjoying our loaf with nothing on it because it doesn't need anything. Personally I find the loaves quite small and very pricey. $16.00 for one loaf that's much smaller than store bought sourdough loaves. But I realize how costly it is to rent space in Magnolia park and the cost of everything right now is out of control. This was a luxury spend for us that can't happen often but I do enjoy supporting a local, small business. They also sell butter, vinegar, and other spreads. If you like bread, you need to check it out. Also it is gluten neutral which brand those who are sensitive to gluten or have mild gluten allergies can tolerate this bread but may not be suitable for those with celiac's disease. Also it's plant-based/vegan.

Yelp
Unexpectedly walked into this store and was in total awe. A small but very organized bakery baking just bread. The place smelled amazing. The owners Randall and Cyndie welcomed us and Cyndie gave my husband and I a tour of the bakery while explaining the many steps of making sourdough bread. Currently they bake two kinds. The country loaf and cinnamon raisin. We tried both and purchased two of the cinnamon raisin. It was delicious with butter. They also carry a few good quality products such as olive oil from Ojai, jams, vinegar, etc. They both are very passionate about their work and really enjoy the journey. I love supporting small businesses and wish them all the best. Great experience for all to have. If you are in the area check them out.

Yelp
Very kind service gives you samples of everything so you can make the decision of what you want to buy and please listen to their directions

Michele D.

Yelp
Delicious bread, incredible jelly, especially the peach and the Service was amazing. Friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend

Kali S.

Yelp
Where to begin. This store is magical in only the way people want to see and feel magic. The selection is eclectic, yet personal. There appear to be two types of bread sold, Sourdough and Maple Pecan Raisin bread. I know. When you read sourdough it probably brings up the tang of Panera or some run of the mill place. BUT mah dudes, this is the most amazing, filling, complicatedly dependable sourdough I've ever had, it is 100% worth the visit, worth the price, and worth experiencing what magic actually is at its core. This sourdough is loved and truly cared about, you can tell in each slice. You can, of course, choose to have it unsliced, and each loaf comes with instructions for care and the best way to enjoy it. I cannot recommend this little hidden gem enough. It's worth the side quest!

Heidi F.

Yelp
The staff here are so welcoming and warm! Alyssa showed us how she prepares the bread for the oven and gave us generous samples of all the goodies! You can feel and taste the love of a thoughtfully baked bread

Holly J.

Yelp
After going to an event down the street we just so happened to walk by and see one of the workers named Alyssa outside greeting people. She mentioned "Free Samples inside" so of course we didn't hesitate. My 6 year old son & I were greeted by the owner named Randall who offered us a sample of both bread options with butter. WOW we were sold! Randall then walked us through the whole bread cutting experience and explaining the process of baking the bread itself. Customer service is a rarity these days and having someone take their time to give you the time of day truly sets a place apart. What stood out the most was Randall's passion for his bread. I will pay to support someone's passion any day, but I wasn't just paying for that.. the bread is outstanding! The only problem is, you won't be able to eat just one slice! I must say we finished half the loaf on the way home, the nice thing is it is great with or without butter, that itself says a lot. You can also distinguish the difference between this bread and store bought bread, the freshness and detail in each bite was exquisite. You can tell time, effort & love was baked into each loaf & for everything I've mentioned we will be back & encourage you to go try as well. Thank you Randall & Alyssa! You two are Cele-bread-ies in my eyes :)

Carolyn W.

Yelp
The best sourdough bread ever! They also sell olive oils, balsamic vinegars, jams and butter. Take a tour of their facility. Nice people and a cozy store.

Belinda S.

Yelp
The bread is just okay, the sourdough taste is not apparent, the people are lovely thoughtfully

Justin B.

Yelp
So expensive that it's crazy. Better sour dough at the grocery store. People are very nice.

Andy M.

Yelp
Where do I start? We went to Geeky Teas next door for some board games and saw this little bread shop and thought, "Why not?" We were greeted by incredibly nice folks who gave us samples and explained what kinds of bread they make, jams and butters they sell, etc. We ordered a loaf and when we picked it up the next day, the sweet lady gave me all these instructions about how to prep the bread and when best to enjoy it. Honestly, I just wanted to go in, pick up the bread and get out, but I listened to her because one thing was clear: these folks are passionate about what they do and want you to have the best experience with their products. Sure, the loaves are expensive- as I've read many complain about here - but when's the last time you met a shop owner with such joy about what they offer? Worth it! (Oh and the bread was excellent!)

Joey P.

Yelp
Excellent. I love to see people doing what love. You can taste that love in the bread. I was greeted with a smile and a sample. I was also given an unexpected tour of bread making process. I went in for bread, came out with an experience. 10/10

Maria A.

Yelp
Very nice people, cute bakery, but honestly way too expensive for sourdough bread. I love to support small businesses, but unfortunately I won't go again simply because of the high prices. I think if they lower their prices ($16 to $10), they would get more customers, but I wish them success.

Ashley B.

Yelp
I came here after seeing the stellar yelp reviews. The employee that helped me was super friendly and gave me a slice of bread and some butter to try. Tasty, but 16 dollars for a loaf of bread hurt. I didn't think it was any better than a grocery store bakery, unfortunately.

Kim D.

Yelp
Most amazing service and bread!! My kid who is gluten free tried it, loved it and had 0 reaction. Recommend 100%!!

Joey Ann M.

Yelp
The bread is absolutely delicious. My family and I eat sourdough every morning and this is by far the best we've had. It's a bit pricey for the size but it's very worth it if you're a sourdough fan and have gluten sensitivities. Their jam selection is also amazing. The employees and owners are also extremely kind.

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
I am a big fan of small, local businesses and was very excited to try this bread shop. Sadly, it is just not impressive sourdough bread; it is mediocre at best and at $16.00 for a mid-sized loaf it is way over-priced. Rockenwagner Bakery has far superior sourdough and a comparable loaf is about $8.00 at Gelson's, and likely less at Ralph's, etc.

Max P.

Yelp
The owners are so kind - and gave my friends and I a wonderful tour of the process of making their sourdough. We all ended up leaving with a few loaves of bread and jams. The jams are wonderful by the way - the raspberry habanero in particular. Stopping by brightens up our day and you can't put a price on that.

Neha G.

Yelp
Cute small sourdough bread place run by a super adorable couple. They give you bread to taste with butter before buying it. The bread taste likes it was made fresh and super flavorful. We end up buying 2 loaf of bread with super tasty olive oil. Highly recommend visiting this place if you are in area

Kerri M.

Yelp
I ordered three items, The strawberry vanilla jam the peanut butter and their three day sourdough loaf!! Definitely not worth the money!! $16.00 for an extremely small small loaf of sourdough! The bread didn't taste any different from the grocery store brands! We Will never order from here again!!!

Soraya E.

Yelp
This bread is everything I didn't know I needed! So glad to have found you! The owners are the sweetest and I love that the bread comes with care instructions!

Anna F.

Yelp
First time in this bakery. I loved Randall and Katie. Very friendly, warm, and kind. Their bread is amazing!

Americus A.

Yelp
Friendly service, great sourdough. Street parking available. Be aware of the limited weekend hours.

Tim P.

Yelp
Lovely folks that make delicious bread that costs 17 dollars. Come on, now....please consider the fact that many of your consumers are blue collar Burbankians who would love to support you, but can't justify spending that much for one loaf.

Kelton J.

Yelp
This place is great! We went in to grab a loaf of bread and had the best time hanging out with the staff and other customers. The bread is of course amazing but the people there are what really makes it worth the trip.

Amanda W.

Yelp
I have stopped in this bakery twice and both times had such an amazing experience! The owners are so sweet, and let you try different things before purchasing. The bread is incredible and I plan to stop by every time I'm in the area!

Alex R.

Yelp
Loved this place! Some people in the comments complained about the price but I thought it was very reasonable as someone who's on dietary restrictions and deals with high prices everywhere. This place also gives a sense of small town feel in a big city! They owners are very knowledgeable, sweet, and definitely know how to make a damn good loaf of sourdough! Will be back for sure!

Brian B.

Yelp
Delicious bread!!! Finally got around to go into the bakery and try some sour dough. Smells amazing inside and got a little fun tour of kitchen and taught how they make their bread. They are amazingly sweet and really enjoy their craft. Bought 2 loaves and can't wait to devour them. Will definitely be going back soon!

Grace N.

Yelp
Was passing by with a friend and we just went in. Was not expecting how wonderful Cyndie was with giving us a tour of the place. Showing us the starter to the finish. Major thumbs up at Randall for making such wonderful bread. You can tell how much love they put into this place and each loaf of bread. I plan to buy more this week considering the loaf that i got didnt even last the week with how yummy it was. :)

Zeljko S.

Yelp
Folks are nice and the sourdough bread averege, nothing special, the only thing that's special is price $16 for a small loaf of bread, really?

John M.

Yelp
That's what sour dough bread should taste like. It reminds me of buying sour dough bread on Fisherman's Wharf in the late 60's. It's that good.

Nicole L.

Yelp
Found this place when I went to Geeky Teas for my DnD session! The owners were nice and gave me a sample and I knew I had to get more! Sourdough bread is my absolute favorite and I'm glad that there's a place that makes it fresh!

Ron R.

Yelp
Where do I start, Katy greeted us at the counter and proceeded to give us samples of their bread with lightly salted and unsalted raw butter. From there there she asked us if we had the time to take a tour of the bakery. It reminded me of going to someone's house and checking out their kitchen. It is very apparent that Katy is passionate and knowledgeable about the entire bread making process. Randy was helping some other customers and he also shared his passion and knowledge of the store and their products. You haven't seen the last of us. Thank you both for your hospitality.

Kat M.

Yelp
My husband got me a loaf of the gluten-neutral sourdough for a Christmas present. Best gift ever! I've been savoring each slice over the past week. I kept it in the bag it came in, and a week later it was still soft and fresh. Best part - it hasn't bothered my gluten sensitives at all. Thank you!

Linda W.

Yelp
Fantastic new bakery in Burbank! I've known the owners, Randy and Cyndie Tobin for several decades. When Randy first developed his unique recipe for sourdough bread, he would share taste loaves with his friends. We relished receiving ours, delicious taste and texture. So glad Randy is now able to share his fabulous bread with the community. Makes great gifts! Yum!

Jeff W.

Yelp
Best organic bread -- I received as a gift from a customer, a few weeks ago and have been back every Saturday since. It has now become a weekend tradition. Thanks for taking pride in such a great product.

Walter B.

Yelp
I'm sensitive to gluten and rarely eat bread, but this bread doesn't bother me and it's so good it's impossible to stay away from. The texture is amazing, and changes wonderfully and naturally as it slowly gets older - just like real bread should. You get one texture of bread on day one, and a different texture on day four. The trouble is, the loaf rarely lasts till day four because I can't stop eating it. And the owners are the nicest people. Long live small businesses, especially ones like this that create stuff I love.

Daniel H.

Yelp
This place is awesome. The owners are great people passionate about their craft. When we entered we were presented with some samples and a tour of their operation; they were very welcoming. The bread is delicious and we will be coming back.

Susan H.

Yelp
Great little spot. Nice people and the sourdough is THE best! Thanks for the tour Cindy. See you again soon.

Samantha M.

Yelp
Very excited about having a sourdough bread shop so close to home. I received a post-card in the mail, and finally made it in a couple weekends ago. Randall was there to explain his knowledge of their breads, and share delicious samples of everything they had from honeys to jams and butter. The bread was sour, sweet, soft and chewy, and stayed fresh for days! More dynamic in flavor and sustainability than anything you could get from a grocery store. It was a very welcoming atmosphere and I will be back for another loaf soon. Support small businesses like this, please!

Gabriela M.

Yelp
Look no further -this is the bread heaven of your dreams that found it's earthy spot. A must try. This new micro bakery with its delicious breads will be the gem of the town. Artisan bread that's unbelievably fantastic.
