The 7 Best Hostels in Medellin (Updated 2025)

"I found this to be one of the more upscale hostels in town: the dorm beds are super comfy and each has reading lights, two power sockets, and personal lockers (though they lack privacy curtains), while the bathrooms are nicer than any hostel I’ve seen — excellent water pressure and a rustic, fashionable design. The on-site restaurant and bar serve really good, professional cocktails (the bar alone is worth a visit), and the staff will help arrange activities like food tours and free walking tours." - Matthew Kepnes

+ This hostel is very nice!!! The people here are so kind and help you with everything! I loved it!!! The hostel is also super clean and you get a free towel, laundry was done very well as well. The bakery is amazing with a good breakfast and coffee and again super friendly people! Gracias 🙏🏻 - It was a bit noisy while I was there bc my room was next to the bar area and it was Helloween, also the area was a bit creepy for me bc there were many homeless in the street and made me feel a bit unsafe as a woman alone.

The owners really have it together! What a fun place to stay in Medellin. There are top notch rooms at fair prices, some with a magnificent treetop view right in the heart of El Poblado—the premier neighborhood in Medellin. There are ongoing events in the hotel such as dance classes, Spanish classes and yoga classes. Cool rooftop bar with city views. Everything is in walking distance and the block where they are located on 8th St has a bunch of excellent restaurants. Seriously. You should try them all: Bread Factory (Swiss), Cafe Zorba (best pizza in Medellin), Real Vegetal (vegetarian), Zeikkei (Indian), Ajiacos y Mondongos (Colombian and best Ajiaco en Medellin) and an Argentinian steak house. We lived in Medellin for 5 years, so we know: Rango is the place to stay. The people who work there and the people who stay there are fun and friendly.

The hostel is really clean, loved that! Comfortable beds, spacious bathrooms and rooms. I did twice a quick stop in the Rango hostel during my trip ik Colombia, could not have wished for a better place to stay and to relax. Thank you Octavia, Sebastian, Liliana and Arturo for the hospitality!

Great location in Medellín, with a super friendly staff. The rooms are spacious and spotless, as are the bathrooms. The terrace and rooftop are very pleasant. Highly recommended!

I had an amazing stay at Rango Hostel! From the moment I arrived, Lilliana and Santiago went out of their way to make me feel welcome. Their kindness and helpful nature really made my experience special, and I can’t thank them enough for all their support during my time in Medellín. The hostel itself is spotless, with a great vibe and plenty of space to relax or meet fellow travelers. The location is perfect—right in Poblado and within walking distance of all the main attractions, restaurants, and nightlife, yet still feels comfortable and safe. I’d highly recommend Rango to anyone visiting Medellín. Big thanks again to Lilliana and Santiago for creating such a warm and welcoming environment—I’ll definitely be back.

We stayed here for 3 nights in a private room. The room was so spacious, clean, tidy, beautiful view of the park and had everything you needed. All the staff were so friendly and speak really good English. We took part in the salsa class and the yoga class and everyone was so kind and knowledgeable! We also had breakfast there in the morning which was reasonably priced and tasty. The only con I would say is they are very particular with staining of the towels, stating fines of 40,000 COP if you get makeup on them. Which is completely reasonable, however, in my opinion, should therefore provide some sort of flannel. I had my own so wasn’t a problem for me personally, but can see for other travellers how it might be. The security and safety is the best we’ve seen and felt Colombia. The security guards avidly checking for the wrist bands and generally having a presence around the entrance to the hostel. Location is excellent for us, easy access to metro station and lovely atmosphere to stroll around El Poblado. The Italian restaurant next door was sensational! A must-do when you’re here.

I am new to hostels and as a senior traveller was a bit unsure. I loved my experience. My single room was comfortable, cozy, very clean, and had nice decorative touches. My room could be noisy, but I liked the music and slept well. The rooftop terrace was great for hanging out. The Bread Factory restaurant was excellent for breakfast. The staff was super friendly, as were the guests. It was a different vibe from a hotel, and great for a single traveller. The pizza restaurant next door is fantastic.

Very pretty hostel, nice amenities, rooms are spacious but not much space to secure your stuff. It was also very humid since it’s pretty much an inside/outside concept. There is a good restaurant in the hostel but it is pretty priceyyy. Good location.
