This Southeast Asian City Should Be Top of Your Culinary Travel List

"A Yangon institution that opened a terrazzo-clad Bangkok outpost in Thonglor, bringing modern Burmese staples like tea-leaf salads, mohinga fish soup, and chickpea tofu fritters to a Thai audience." - Chris Schalkx

If you want to try clean, fresh, and smooth Myanmar traditional food this place is definitely worth a visit. They have many branches in Myanmar and have already proven the quality of their flavors. For me, the taste is more than satisfying and feels like it’s made for fine dining as it’s very smooth. However, it slightly deviates from the natural authentic Myanmar taste. The prices are higher than other Myanmar restaurants but you get top quality flavors in return. If they could reduce the prices a little it would be better for most Myanmar consumers. From my personal experience I don’t want to argue about the pricing too much, but I found the Myanmar Silone Tea to be very expensive and unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy the taste. The other dishes are also expensive, but I was satisfied with their taste and quality.

The Phat Htamin with mutton is authentic. I love Rakhine Htamin Thote, especially for the smell of shrimp paste used. I can feel it is made from extreme quality paste. But for Mont hin khar, I feel it is too luxurious for the taste. The texture is so smooth than a MHK should be. Not a very Myanmar-like taste. Then, Silon Tea: way too expensive. It is the same price with moo krahta (195) bath for a 150 ml max tea. The taste is, again, not very Burmese style. Too much milk and cannot feel the flavor of the tea much. Most disappointing tea I have ever had, compared to the price. Wayyyy overpriced. The staff are friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is amazing.

Finally made it here for dinner and can’t believe waited this long! The staff were all incredibly helpful and kind, food came out quick and piping hot. They were also great at explaining the dishes and helping guide our order! We ordered 4-5 different dishes, and they came out as advertised if not even tastier! Ambience and deco match the vibe and it made for an overall wonderful experience! Will definitely be back!

Such a satisfying lunch in a cool space- big flavours, portions, and a menu where we wanted to try everything. We loved the tea samples, pork curry and noodle bowls. A neat contemporary way to experience Burmese food and tea culture. Everyone was so nice and it was just a beautiful laid back atmosphere.

It was my first time trying burmies food. Food is pretty delicious and super flavourful. I was shocked to see the names as they are quite similar to indian dishes. Preparation is definitely different. Loved it. Service is attentive and staff knows what they are doing. We are detoxifying so not tried any cocktails. And it was too late for a tea. Will surely go back for the breakfast and with more empty stomach. Highly recommended.

First time having Burmese meal which is quite familiar with indian cuisine with less odor of spice. Recommend to book the place especially on weekends whether it’s lunch or dinner. Though I enjoy the meal, the price is little bit high. But the service is excellent which kinda makes up for that.

I truly loved everything about my lunch at Rangoon Tea House when I was visiting Bangkok. Like some other reviewers, it was my first time trying Burmese food, and everything I ordered was phenomenal, including the starter at the main dish. The space is very beautiful, well lit, and warm; and the service staff are all friendly and professional. I’ll be visiting the city again soon and can’t wait to come back and try more dishes!

Great spot to try Burmese food in Bangkok. The flavors were really good and unique. The restaurant is downstairs and the bar is upstairs with a nice setup. Prices are a bit on the higher side but worth it for the experience. A good place if you are curious about Burmese cuisine for the first time.
