Out-bloody-standing. Went in with high expectations and were well and truly exceeded. Tremendous curry. Pictured is the Sabji and the Daal (of the days) alongside some veg pakora and the most delicious breads. Dipping away with friends into the spectacular curries after a couple jars was an absolute delight. This place is truly a highlight of the south side. There were plenty of spaces on big tables that you share with other patrons. The decor of the place was simple but warm and comfy. It was excellent for a relaxing dinner with friends. The food was the real star of the show though, not for a second did I think meat would have enhanced these dishes. The spices and perfect blend of consistencies really built a taste experience from the start to the end of the meal. The staff were very helpful and friendly which is always a big green tick from me. I just want their recipes now!! Definitely the best food I’ve had (so far) in the south side. I was also very drunk. Cheers to everyone running this excellent business! :)

Great indian food in the southside with lots of vegetarian options. I tried the thali which came with a daal and sabji of the day, homemade yoghurt, roti and chutney. The portion is really good for the price, and you get to try a bit of everything. The daal is creamy and smooth. The sabji is flavourful paired great with the roti. The special pakora is insanely good, crispy batter, full of flavour and the chutney made it a perfect paring. I totally revoked their pakora, it might be my favourite pakora in Glasgow. The samosa channa special is okay, the samosa is not as crispy as I’d like but the sweet channa is full of flavour, again, big portion. The Punjabi cha is too mild for my preference, wish spice flavour is stronger, the sweet it came with is amazing tho. The whole restaurant feels clean and open, with a counter displaying their homemade sweets and snacks. They don’t have a lot of seating and it’s pretty popular. The menu offers a good range of variety of food to try. Great friendly service!

Been meaning to try Ranjit’s Kitchen for ages, and I finally stopped in one Friday evening. I can see why it’s so popular! I got Ranjit’s Punjabi Thali, £11.95 - a great way to sample a mix of their dishes, with the daal of the day (lentil & chickpea), sabji (spiced turnip), homemade yoghurt, salad, 2 rotis, pickle & chutney. The small plates were great, giving you a chance to try different flavours. Also tried the Sweet Chana with Paneer, £6.50, Aloo Tiki Special, £7, and a Mango Lassi, £2.20—plus 2 extra roti (£1.35 each) because you can never have too much. The thali was packed with flavour, and the small plates added variety. Not a huge fan of the aloo tiki - it just felt like battered mash (not a good thing), nothing standout. The place has a lovely, welcoming feel and the staff were great. For what you get, it’s excellent value. Well worth a visit! Follow me on insta for more reviews: @Lewishere_lewisthere

We had gone for a snack here. Loved the vibe of the place. The servers were friendly and polite. We had ordered the samosa chana special and the mixed vegetable roll. Having heard quite a bit about this place for Indian travellers, we found both these dishes a bit bland though the quantity was decent.

Ranjit’s Kitchen serves up delicious, home-style Punjabi food that’s both wholesome and full of flavour. The dishes are simple, comforting, and clearly made with care – just like you’d get in a loving home kitchen. It’s refreshing to find a place that focuses on healthy, nourishing meals without compromising on taste. Highly recommended if you’re looking for honest, hearty food that feels like a warm hug on a plate!

Yelp
Amazing Indian food! I was after a takeaway but wasn't sure what to get, so I asked if they would do their veggie thali as a takeaway. Normally they don't, but they offered various dishes that make up the thali, asking me each time,. "would you like this?" - to which of course I answered, "yes!" Less than 10 minutes later I was almost £10 poorer and was carrying a huge bag of goodies that would actually have fed an entire family, not just me. I manfully struggled through most of it but alas, I ended up leaving a fair bit of it as I was full to bursting. Tasty food, great portions, friendly and helpful staff. A big 'thumbs up' from this West Ender. When are you opening up on this side of the river?

Yelp
This is a simply an awesome little cafe serving up home-style Punjabi food. I get the feeling it's family run which adds to the charm of the place. Service always comes with a smile and the waiting staff were really helpful explaining some of the unfamiliar dishes. The cafe is brightly decorated, very 'funky' looking and dare I say almost 'hipster' which is not what you'd tend to find in your local Indian Cafe. The food is traditional, authentic and vegetarian and hasn't got that restaurant taste to it. What I mean by that is that it tastes like something you'd make at home (if you were any good at cooking curries that is), which, for me is the best!! Everyday the Dhaal and Sabji's change which ensures the food is fresh and seasonal. The portion sizes are huge and for the money its outstanding value. If only this place was a little closer to home, I'd easily be there at least once a week for my dinner. Yum!

Yelp
Another one off the list! As always I have wanted to try it for ageeeees and finally on Sunday I got to sample the food delights of RK. It's a very laid back feel, more cafe or even like being in your friends kitchen for a meal rather than full on restaurant, but I really liked it. The staff were friendly, the portions were huge and the prices were so cheap. My full meal only cost me 11 quid! The food is all vegan or vegetarian friendly and for me that was a major plus as I think Indian food with all the spices and sauces involved if done right really lends it's self well to a veggie only diet. Hopefully you can see from my pictures what a feast was on offer for 11 pounds. We shared lovely paneer pakora and then I had to myself a silver tray full of mixed delights. There was two curries, a yogurt dip, salad, roti's and spicy pickles. The food tasted brilliant and I would happily go back any time. Nearly forgot! For dessert I had super tasty hot dough balls with ice cream. Awesome! The only slight negative off the night was at times the service was so slow and being honest a bit rude. At one point a waitress was actually pretending to sleep against a coffee machine instead of serving us! On many days this could have brought a three star review, but I have focused on the great quality food instead and will stick with 4 stars.

Yelp
I have lived in the vicinity of this restaurant for some time. Passed by every day on my bike. Looked longingly at through bus windows. But it took me forever to finally get there!! This restaurant's cuisine is punjabi, from a region of India where the food is primarily vegetable based (they have the odd meaty dishes as specials, but not when I've been in), so it is a vegetarian's dream... and there are plenty of vegan options too! Now, Ranjit's Kitchen is a small, family run restaurant. So seating is at a premium! Luckily as we went for lunch on a Sunday, we were the first people there. All of the recipes are mama Ranjit's recipes, and mama Ranjit is in the back cooking them up for you (she is a very talented lady) while her son takes care of things out front. The feel of the place is homely and a little bit jazzy without trying too hard. When working on the décor, they worked with the exposed brickwork, hanging fairy lights and placing little plants at intervals along the walls. I get the feel of being in someone's groovy dining room. I'm an oddity in that I don't much drink liquids while I eat... but I just can't resist having a lassi, especially a mango one! It's like a milkshake if it were made with natural yoghurt instead of ice cream. Tasty stuff, but pretty filling so you don't want to drink all of it before your food arrives! The paneer pakora is simply divine! The paneer is marinated and before being battered in gram flour, a wonderful filling made of tamarind, red onion and ginger. The homemade chutney that comes with it contains carrot, tamarind and mint. I am actually salivating even thinking about it. The sweet channa with paneer (can you tell I have a thing for paneer?) is also an amazing treat; chickpeas and paneer in a sweet and spicy sauce... and when coupled with a lovely, warm parantha it is the ultimate comfort food. And let us not forget dessert! I love Indian sweets, and have done as long as I can remember finding out there were Indian sweet shops near my home. But my absolute favourite, which isn't very common, is gajrela. A sweet, warm carrot almost-pudding with almonds and pistachios... the closest comparison is with carrot cake, but I find it much better. It's one of those Indian desserts that is mostly home made, and few restaurants seem to carry it on their menu. So imagine my absolute delight when I first saw it on the menu in Ranjit's Kitchen! Ranjit's gajrela is among the best I've tasted, and served warm alongside a scoop of ice cream. Heaven. If you haven't been in, stop thinking about it and GO! You won't be sorry.

Yelp
I'd heard that Ranjit's was fantastic, and had been really keen to try it for ages. I was NOT disappointed! This place is a wee gem. As it's a family run place, I wasn't sure what to expect, but it has clearly been very professionally thought out, and seemed very well-run. The seating is communal, at large tables, and although we had our own table for this visit, I thought it might actually be quite nice to have a chat with the other diners, as they looked like interesting people. The decor is simple, and very stylish. The food is excellent. It's freshly made daily, and is nice and simple, made with traditional ingredients, so you can be reassured that you're not going to get any mad red food colouring or anything like that. I was very pleased with the choice I had for vegan eating. The waitress explained very clearly to me what had cheese or butter in it, and she knew exactly what she was talking about. Vegans - all the channa has cheese in it - just so you know. I opted for the Sabji of the day, which is their daily fresh vegetable curry. This one was potato and aubergine, and it was delicious. It came with 2 roti, and was very filling. For £3.95, this is outstanding value. This would have done me nicely really, but as it was my first visit, I wanted to eat everything, so also had some samosa. Oh my, best samosa ever! The pasty was light and crisp, not greasy at all, and the filling was fluffy and delicious. The tamarind chutney for dipping was also just right, not too spicy, not too tangy, just right for adding a little something extra to the samosa. It's non licensed, and they sell a good range of soft drinks, lassis, and mostly fruit based drinks such as guava or passion fruit. I had a coconut water which was an ideal accompaniment for my meal. I didn't have a sweet this time (no room, not even in my pudding stomach!) but I'd like to next time - the Snowflake Gulab Jamun looked most inviting. We noticed a sign advising that Ranjit's can do catering, or bulk orders, and it did cross my mind that I could probably buy £20 worth of sabji or daal to take home with me, and it would keep me fed for a week. Worth exploring, definitely. I'll definitely be venturing south-side to Ranjit's Kitchen again.

Yelp
I've been keen to visit here for a while as I've heard nothing but great reviews for it. It's also completely vegetarian, and although I'm not usually too bothered about eating at places which serve meat, it makes a nice change. I was pleased we'd managed to get settled for dinner when we did (around 6.30pm) as shortly after we'd ordered it started getting really busy and was also very busy with people coming to get their takeaways. The server took us through the front of the menu with the savoury mains and sides, indicating which ones were not suitable for vegans. This was roughly about half - the paneer dishes, the (special) pakora, and a couple of other things. We decided on the Daal of the day (him), the Sabji of the day (me), mixed vegetable rolls to share, and a paratha each. The daal and the sabji were each £3.95 and came with 2 rotis each, which I thought was great value and one of either of these alone would make a great filling lunch. The daal was absolutely delicious. The potato and cauliflower sabji was nice, but the veg was a little softer than I usually prefer. However, it did have a lot of flavour and wasn't too oily. The vegetable rolls (£3.95) were really good, too. Because we had the paratha without butter on top I didn't feel there was much difference between that and the roti. Next time I think I'll give the vegetable paratha a try. They don't take reservations, and if you're looking for an intimate dinner it's not the place for you as multiple couples/groups share long tables and sit on benches. If you want an inexpensive, casual dinner, it's great. No vegan desserts, unfortunately. :( They do have some little biscuit snacks which are suitable and recommended for having with a tea or coffee. A complimentary water jug is on the table for keeping your glass full. Staff are friendly and service was quite prompt considering how busy it was and the prep time required to make the dishes.

Yelp
We visited Ranjit's on the South Side during National Curry week with fellow yelper Alison and what a delight it was. It's not a big place but you know what, sometimes the best places never are! Ranjit's feels sort of 'homely' and you get the feeling that you're just in an extension to the kitchen as you can see all the action going on behind the counter. Nice long tables mean you can just as easily be sat with your friends as you can with complete strangers - not everyone's cup of tea but good for meeting new folk! The food is excellent and all freshly prepared as you wait and it's all vegetarian although they do make vegan friendly options too. I chose the Punjab Thali which included a bowl of the Daal of the day, Sabji of the day, yoghurts, salad, rotis & chutneys - all delicious. The menu is on their website so take a peek at the other delights on offer. We have some decent curry options here in the west end so it was nice to try somewhere new and I really hope this fab place does well - it deserves too so get yourself over there and give it a whirl...

Yelp
Really really great. Having read other reviews, and having had enjoyed the Pakistani Café that resided on these premises a few years back, the missus and I decided to give it a whirl for lunch. Ranjit's Special Pakora was shared, and was flavoursome and fluffy light; not your usual Glasgow pakora! We also ordered the daily specials of Daal (black chickpea today) and Sabji (veggie mince and peas in gravy). These took a good wee while longer, but were worth the wait. Both were good sized portions and each came with two hot roti. The sabji was earthy and comforting, whilst the daal was more of a hot and spicy hug. The mango lassee was also very good; not as thick as store-bought bottled stuff, so you could actually drink it! Staff were friendly and attentive, just a missed point for crockery and cutlery not always being taken away before we seated ourselves or when we were done with dishes. Minor niggles easily ironed out. Considering giving a bonus point for getting to watch some of their Punjabi dessert stuffs being prepped on one of the other tables... Glasgow has a few places where two can have lunch for around fifteen quid; but not many of these leave you full and knowing that you will be back. Will definitely introduce some pals to this place and spread the good word. Glasgow needs more informal, affordable but tasty lunch joints!

Yelp
What an excellent addition to the south side! We were going to a friend's birthday and decided to stop in here for a quick bite to eat first. At 7pm on a Friday it was pretty busy and with a communal dining set up you'll need to be prepared to sit at a table with some new pals (they do takeaway as well). The decor inside is casual and yet it's way nicer than just eating in a takeaway shop so you can properly relax and enjoy your meal. There's table service and you can just pay for your meal when you're leaving. We ordered the thali to share as well as some paneer pakora. The thali has the daal of the day, the sabji of the day (vegetable curry), yoghurt, salad, 2 roti, pickle & chutney. The pakora is served with a side of chutney. They both arrived around the same time and we dove right in. I loved the pakora - I've never had paneer pakora before but this was lush - soft and spongy and perfectly crispy on the outside. And paneer is made on the premises too which is pretty awesome! The chutney it was served with was delicious. I loved the thali - the daal had beans through it and a very strong flavour of spice which I still can't put my finger on. Everything is veggie (in case you hadn't worked that out already!) and really flavoursome. The thali and pakora were a good sized meal for two if you're looking for a lighter meal - I wasn't super hungry so you'd probably want to add in another dish or two. With three soft drinks, the bill came to a whopping £16 (not a typo) which is one of the cheapest dinners I can remember having recently. Topped off with super friendly service, this place is already a favourite of mine. I can't wait to go back. Notes: Closed Monday and they close at 8pm every other day which might be earlier than you expect. They have quite a few sweets if you're so inclined as well as snacks to take away. They don't serve alcohol.

Yelp
Fantastic value for money (all the standard dishes are under a fiver), fantastic tasty and fresh Punjabi food and very, very friendly service. The side dishes are as good as the mains - incredibly good mint and coriander chutney and mixed pickles with home made yoghurt Put it all together and you've got something pretty special, I'll be back here as soon as I possibly can.

Yelp
Tasty lunch, sadly didn't live up to the hype. We arrived in time for opening as the restaurant doesn't take bookings- there wasn't much need in the and as we were the only customers for about 45 minutes. Despite this the service was sloth-like... Friendly staff but extremely slow. Staff were really helpful with the menu and served out dishes like a starter, main course and dessert (the menu isn't split into courses), the waitress also made sure we were aware of drinks options suitable for the younger members of our party. We had the paneer pakora which were super yummy - the batter was delicious and the tangy sauce was the best bit. Next we had Panjabi tea for two- tamarind chutney, minty yoghurty sauce, pakora and samosas with tea and sweets to follow. The pakora was no more than standard- really unremarkable. The potatoey samosas were yummy and the tamarind chutney (the same sauce from the starter) was fantastic. For our "main" we had the dahl of the day which was soya chunks. Really not to my taste texture wise, the sauce wasn't anything to shout about either from my point of view. The two accompanying roti were gorgeous though! The sweets were varying in yumminess- a fudge like confection that tasted like condensed milk was fabulous. Other than that I could take or leave the rest of the selection. The tea wasn't great either for my palate- like chai but not as strong a flavour. I wanted to love Ranjit's kitchen, I'm sad it didn't live up to my expectation. The decor is absolutely beautiful- very like a Wes Anderson movie- and the cantina seating arrangements are cute and quirky. Unfortunately, the food wasn't my cup of tea and I probably won't rush back.

Yelp
Amazing authentic family prepared Indian food. Being a well seasoned carnivore I was a tad concerned about going to a veg only restaurant. Those concerns were quickly dashed when I tasted the samosas. Utterly delicious. Following this we were brought out an array of different Indian dishes that were all super tasty and spiced to perfection. For a great value insight in to authentic Indian food look no further than Ranjit's kitchen. Only one point I'd make is that they don't serve alcohol and there's no BYOB. I understand why this is the case but as a customer I'd love to have a cold beer with the spicy food.

Yelp
Me to other half: "Fancy dinner out?" Other half to me: "What about that Punjabi place on Pollokshaws Road where that doomed afghani place used to be, next to the First Minister's place?" Me: (silence) In 1698, several valiant Scots set out to create a colony of their own. The Darien Scheme was meant to create a New Caledonia in Panama. But it failed. Twice, ending in death, hanging, bankruptcy and, some would argue, Scotland having to join the Union. That bit of Pollokshaws Road has, till late, been Darien. Two restaurants in short order, established and failed. Hence the silence on my part. Will this place follow suit? It should not. This is a small, family-run business, into its second week of operation. The premise is simple: good, home-cooked food, with a menu that changes daily along with some staples. And it delivers. The decor is understated. Wooden tables with benches create the feel of a Punjabi dhabba, the roadside stalls that dot the highways of Northern India, where freshly cooked fare is always available. This is much more upmarket though and spotless. We had the dhal of the day and the 'sabzi' (read vegetable dish) of the day. Each comes with two Punjabi rotis (hand-made, soft, light and moreish - clearly cooked on a tawa, as it should be). The dhal was savoury and flavoursome, the addition of soya giving it an interesting 'meat but not meat' texture. The sabzi was unctuous: carrots, peas and potatoes melding nicely. The mango lassi was, again, fresh and not the thick, overly sweet gloop you get from a bottle. Water comes in a jug with two Indian metal glasses without asking for it. As did a little tart lime pickle. The welcome is truly that. They are pleased to see you, they are keen that you enjoy it and they want you to come back. At less than £5 per head for some fresh, wholesome vegetarian fare and that contented vacuousness in the head that says all the blood from your brain is now in the gut, digesting away happily, it is a steal. So 'happy' is good enough for me. But if I then receive a small sample of their sweets to take away and try ("have it with your tea" was the urging), I may progress to that rare state of 'very happy'. I am there now. Please excuse me while I dwell in it. Ranjit's Kitchen is not licensed. And there is no meat. If that stops you going, that is your loss.

Yelp
I Have been eyeing up Ranjit's Kitchen for months and what a delight it was. By the time we arrived and lucky enough to grab a table, I was starving!!! Looking at the menu I'm thinking I want to try everything. A little heads up... Portions are massive. Now one thing I didn't actually realise is that it's vegetarian, which is now making me love it even more.I had a little mixed platter type dish that had a few meals combined. chickpeas and paneer in a creamy sauce with little potato patties it was delicious I also had a side of vegetable filo pasty. We also shared the paneer pakora... This is a must. RK is more a type of cafe than a fine dining restaurant. Be prepared to wait for your food and service In general. You won't spend a fortune but you will be sad that you can't eat this everyday.

Yelp
Been twice in the past week with my family. Tried quite a few things on the menu now and haven't been dissapointed once. Brilliant prices and good portion sizes I'll be coming back as often as I can. All the staff are so friendly and service was really quick. Don't have anything bad to say really.

Yelp
Since moving to the South Side I always wanted to visit here. I finally did it last night and I'm so glad I did! They're small but the seating style is to bunch up together at the tables. It's bench seating to this is great. The place is really nicely decorated and the staff were really nice and informative. I got their daal of the day and paneer pakora. I didn't expect the portion sizes at all! I actually only needed the daal I think! Normally you get 3 pieces of pakora but I'm sure I got 6. Everything is also very reasonably priced. I paid £11.90 for my food and 2 cans of juice which I think was great. I was stuffed afterwards. I didn't actually finish the pakora which is unlike me. They're also do takeaway. So living so close this is really convenient for me. They seem busy all of the time and I'm unsure if you can call ahead to place your order. Anyway, I highly recommend them to all of my veggie and non-veggie pals!

Yelp
Popped in here for the first time on Saturday night planning to get a wee bit of food to take away. Problem was the menu was so excellent we left with a little bit more than a wee bit of food. Oops. Opted for the dhal of the day, the special pakora, two rotis and the best dish of the lot the Sweet channa with paneer . A sweet and lightly spices chickpea dish with pieces of paneer running through it. Unlike anything I've had before. Waiting for the takeaway I found myself watching everyone else being served up their dishes (sorry guys) and there was a lot of variety on offer and a great atmosphere inside. I'll certainly be back to try out more. Seating is cafeteria style and the decor was tasteful. The walls are lined with fresh produce you can but to takeaway

Yelp
This place is amazing, i fully expect it to get a 5 when i re review it. The place itself sits across from the arnold clarks car sales place and looks like someones wee nicely designed front room which , in a sense, it is! All the cooking is done in a wee kitchen that you can see in the back by the owners mother and is absoloutely fantastic. It being our first time they welcomed us in to sit at the big long tables and took our order. We ordered some drinks which come in these nifty little metal cups which i really want a set of. Myself i got the paneer pakora and aloo tikka which are paneer cheese with ginger sandwiched between it and a mashed potato done in batter with onions and spices. We also tried the sweet chana and paneer curry like concoction made with chick peas and the aforementioned paneer cheese. The food was absoloutely delicious and the paneer pakora especially came with a small dip which i was told contained mint, carrot and tamarin and it was to die for. We then ordered our deserts and Jen W was so pleased to find out that they serve gajrela with ice cream and i have the 3 trio of deserts. These were gorgeous and much like most cooking of this style werent too much of anything, ie not too sweet or too stodgy they were just right. Even though everything was being freshly made by the lady in the kitchen you never had to wait overlong for things to appear, this coupled with th great taste and general friendly manner makes a wonderful addition to Glasgow's south side! I cannot wait to go back here and sample their other dishes that they have.

Yelp
Great fun wee place, gloriously chaotic, shocked by their success and mamas in the kitchen cooking up a storm. Don't be in a hurry, be prepared to share your bench and enjoy fantastic flavourful vegetarian food. The butternut squash Sabji, was amazing as were the parathas... The Pickles were super fresh. Left with a smile on our face and delicious flavours ricocheted around our mouth for hours. Polished it's not, good for the soul it is.

Yelp
This was a great find! The food is delicious!! Staff were really friendly and talked my friends and i through the menu as it was our first time. We ordered a few things to share and then all had the daily special. I could have eaten it twice over it was that good! Great relaxed atmosphere, we were there for a few hours just chatting away and eating. Perfect night and great value for money. They don't take bookings so you just join a table. They also don't accept cards but there is a machine on the corner which is handy!

Yelp
Second visit here and the last . I ordered a small portion daal, small saag, 2 roti's 2 plain parathas, 1 raita, and 1 portion veg samosa.(2 pieces) And got charged a whooping £16.50 from young Hardeep. when phoned up and asked about the scam he said The prices for the small portions have gone up to £3.50 each. but on the menu the prices haven't changed from £2.50 . he said its been a fortnight yet I paid £2.50 each 3 days ago for half portions of veg and saag. even if he charged me £3,50 per portion still doesn't add up to £16.50.

Yelp
Perfect! This is exactly what we needed in the strathbungo/ Pollockshields area. Proper Indian home food! All the other take- away shop in the area are terrible!!

Yelp
Fabulous vegetarian Indian food. The space is small but decorated in a bright and modern style. The food is fresh, well presented and tastes divine. The pakoras in particular are out of this world and the samosa chana special is excellent value. If you like Indian desserts they have a large selection that pair wonderfully with their spiced chai. Definitely one of my favourite places.

Yelp
Best pakora I've ever had, and I'm from California and live near Fremont! Loved this place. Not a lot of seating, but they serve people fast, so we didn't wait long. It's always busy because they do a great job. Great service from Glaswegian dude with a man-bun. Friendly owner. They even gave us free dessert at the end. Very authentic. Highly recommend. Cash only.

Yelp
I feel incredibly privileged to live in the vicinity of this place. I never used to get a lot of takeaway but my husband and I regularly are compelled to order from them a couple of times a month. We are both vegetarian so suits us. Great to have a wee family run place and I am so happy to see how well it is doing (always pretty busy). Favourites are the samosas (never had them better and I love Indian food) and the channa paneer. We always get a sabji of the day and they are always different and interesting.

Yelp
Been here only once with a friend for a try out dinner ( both carnivores that still love veggie options). I found the cafe style environment so casual anyone stuffy and bit quirky....adding to the fun! Situated on a busy Street on the south side of Glasgow. Easy to reach and find. Tried the thali tray selection, special pakora done in gramflour batter served with chutney mix and the mix veg spring rolls done in a light crisp filo pastry served with wee portion of side salad and chutney. Washed down with a glass of home made mango lassie (very indulgent) drink. I am guessing the place is popular with a mix of clients from all over Glasgow. West end has a similar type of Indian Street food place at the bottom end of byres Road but that's in a bigger restaurant style setting and more expensive in general. This cool place is like going to the coolest pop up cafe that an Asian family has set up and has passed down old home style punjabi cooking methods for us to enjoy. Great stuff! Take away is available and has a deli type counter in place. No formal tables....more a bench type communal sitting area.

Yelp
Would love to give 3.5 stars. It's decent but as my wife and I both agreed, it just didn't wow us. I really enjoyed the brown lentil dahl. It was flavourful, comforting, and a good price for what you were served. I also really enjoyed the paneer pakora, because hey fried cheese, which had ginger in between the cheese. The paneer scramble just didn't have much flavour. Like I said it just didn't wow us. I'd stopped in previously and since it was rather full we looked at the takeaway menu which a more limited set of the sit-down menu. It looked as though it was mostly finger food so we passed.

Yelp
I heard about Ranjit's Kitchen a while ago, but since it's a bit outside of the city centre I didn't get there until recently. I'm so glad I did. It's definitely a hidden gem, but seems very popular amongst people who know about it! I went with my husband on a Saturday night and it was very busy with people sitting in and taking away. I didn't realise the portions would be so big, so I ordered a starter and the thali, which was way too much food for one person! Next time I'll probably just go for something involving chickpeas, and I greatly look forward to my next visit!
