"Rappelling down waterfalls isn’t for the faint of heart, but it's an unforgettable thrill for those who can bear it. Rappel Maui operates out of a 30-acre botanical garden off the famous Hana Highway , where you're given pro-level equipment (footwear, harnesses, backpacks with dry kegs, flotation jackets, and helmets) and plenty of instruction before you're encouraged to practice on a dry rainforest wall. Once you've summoned the confidence—and perhaps the courage—you rappel down waterfalls and into natural pools. Keep in mind: This is a physically demanding tour, with a half-mile of hiking as well as some swimming, and children must be 10 and older and weigh at least 70 pounds." - Juliana Shallcross

Me and my friends recently had the chance to go rappelling in Maui, and it was absolutely incredible! The breathtaking scenery combined with the thrill of descending the cliffs made for an unforgettable adventure. Our guides, Mike and Shauna, were amazing—knowledgeable and supportive, they ensured everyone felt safe and comfortable throughout the experience. I loved the rush of adrenaline as I navigated the stunning waterfalls and lush landscapes. If you’re looking for a unique way to explore Maui’s natural beauty, I highly recommend the rappel experience!

What an adventure!! Our second trip to Rappel Maui, but this time a totally different experience. Our first was rainy with a raging river, pushing us to different rappel routes away from the dangerous rapids. We still had a blast and vowed to come back to conquer the falls. This time, with our 15 year old son, whom was jealous of our previous trip. Being greeted by Shauna, the kooky main guide, was a treat! She is quite the comedian and enjoys giving you a hard time. Great convo!! I recognized Elena from our previous visit, full of info and very knowledgeable. Last but definitely least was Taylor, fresh off her flight from East side main land and ready to rock. Also a great, fun guide! (They are all awesome) So, like I said, this visit was way different. Warm weather, blue skies and the perfect amount of flow off the falls. Just enough to waterboard yourself if you wanted. There were six of us tourist and the three guides, the day went smooth, everyone with different skill levels and hesitations, talked right over the edge and having an absolute blast, no complaints! Do yourself a favor and step outside of your comfort zone and book this tour! It is something to add to your bucket list that you didn't even know you wanted to do! Thank you Rappel Maui Mahalo 😎🌴

We chose Rappel Maui as the starter activity for our first visit to Maui. It did not disappoint. I fasted for 4 days to make sure I made the weight limit and it was worth it! My wife and I had never rappeled before and Elena and Shauna were wonderful at explaining and encouraging us. It was thrilling and beautiful, but the shoes kept our feet from slipping as that was the biggest insecurity as we stepped over the edge over the waterfall. Would totally come back with my kids. Highly recommended. The ladies were funny and engaging. We ended up having a private tour since nobody else booked, and we loved it!

Google
Rappeling down a waterfall was amazing. The scenery was awesome. Our guides Shauna and Elena were funny and knowledgeable about rapelling and plants and wildlife and what could be eaten. The rappelling is intimidating at first but is easy in the moment. Make sure to bring a way to take pictures in the water you will be swimming. If you are a bug-bite magnet consider bringing bug spray. Phone service is near non-existent in this area so make sure to bring cash and download the map to be able to route there and back. This is my favorite activity we've done so far on this trip.

Amazing experience!!! Beautiful setting. Felt safe and comfortable. Shauna & Mike were amazing guides. Lots of laughter. Highly recommend & can’t wait to do it again.

Google
This was one of the Highlights of our trip to Hawaii & one of the coolest things my Husband and I have ever done! Shauna & Jonas were incredible, knowledgeable, funny, and made us feel super safe. If you are looking for an active adventure surrounded by the gorgeous Rainforest, and not scared of heights, this is the excursion to book. If we come back again, we would def book it again!! It was so good! We recommend water clothes to get dirty, bug spray, sun screen, and if possible, a waterproof phone case for pics!!! Sign up!!!

This was one of my favorite activities I did in Maui! The guides were so nice & friendly—they did such a great job teaching us what to do & putting us all at ease. I was especially concerned about navigating (I am deaf and have balance issues), but they were able to accommodate me with no questions asked! I was able to have clear instructions given to me before repelling down, there was a little waterproof container I could put my hearing devices in, and there was also ropes along the hiking paths that assisted with my balance! I loved this experience so much and would recommend it to everyone!!

Google
My partner and I visited Maui for the first time, and this experience came highly recommended by our resort—I'm so glad we took their advice! The adventure begins with a scenic drive along the Road to Hana, which is absolutely stunning. The rappelling takes place in the breathtaking Garden of Eden Botanical Gardens, which is worth the admission on its own. Our guides, Shauna and Mike, were fantastic! They were not only friendly and welcoming but also incredibly knowledgeable, making us feel completely at ease despite having no prior rappelling experience. From start to finish, we felt well cared for. The group was small (just four of us), which I really appreciated—there was no rush, and everyone got plenty of individual attention, though they do accommodate larger groups as well. The experience itself was incredible—we rappelled down two beautiful waterfalls and ended with a refreshing swim at the bottom. It was an unforgettable way to immerse ourselves in Hawaii’s natural beauty. If you’re looking for a unique and exciting way to experience Maui’s stunning landscapes, I can’t recommend Rappel Maui enough. It's the perfect blend of adventure and appreciation for the island's beauty!

Yelp
The rappelling was a highlight of our trip to Maui. Was I nervous - yes but their instructions fit the level of each participant and they seemed to be able to asses how to coach each of us. We had a varied group of ages from 21 to 60. I highly recommend this activity.

Kerstin B.

Yelp
This was an absolute amazing experience!!! Can only recommend to everyone going to Maui to do the rappelling!! SO exhilarating!!!! Our guides Shauna and Elena were the best!! Not only did they make us feel super safe, but they were very knowledgable and so much fun!!! It really was the highlight of our week. Just AMAZING!!!!! Go do it!!!

Michele A.

Yelp
It's a drive to get to but it is a must do. My son and I had a blast. First time getting to rappel down actual waterfalls. Our guides were excellent and well experienced. The scenery is spectacular.

Lisel C.

Yelp
I went in with low expectations and was blown away. The rappelling was incredible and the guides (Shauna and Elena) were not only experts but incredibly helpful and fun. You're literally in the most incredible location with private waterfalls swimming in the pools after completing each rappel. Highly recommend! We will be back.

Samad M.

Yelp
Jonas and Shauna were amazing. This totally made our trip to Hawaii. My wife and my cousin are still talking about it. The waterfalls were BEAUTIFUL, the water was clear, and they made it so comfortable and enjoyable. There were people very nervous (including my wife), but everybody not only made it but were raving about how much they loved it. I will be back. Rappelling is my new favorite thing to do!

Brad S.

Yelp
Ropheka Gershom and Abbie McCarthy were AMAZING! They make the entire experience easy, safe and FUN! This is one of those "Bucket List" things you want to do and it was defiantly something I want to do again! The part when we got to go down INSIDE THE WATERFALL was the best! This is a great "confidence booster" as what seems impossible in life is not if you learn for pros like you'll find here at Rappel Maui. I'll be back for sure!!! MAHALO!

Greg H.

Yelp
This was one of the coolest things we have ever done and we have done a lot of things. You have three different places you repel down. The first one is more of a training and preparation. The other two are the reasons to do this. The 1st waterfall you repel alongside the falls. At the bottom you are given the option to jump in the water. The jump in is fun but I will tell you the water is a little chilly. The 2nd waterfall you traverse down through the falls The two gals Alba and Abbie were amazing giving instruction and spunk to the activity. They are totally cool people. I was glad they prepped us for the hike back up. Take a deep breath and get ready for some elevation.

Don T.

Yelp
This might be the very best adventure on Maui hands down. Our instructors, Naomi and Shauna were absolutely amazing. Their approach to teaching us how to replel allowed us to learn and put our fears away. You will repel down a 50 foot practice run and then repel into 3 waterfalls from about 8 feet. All the while, Shauna and Naomi are right with you. This has to be on your bucket list to do. Talk about a rush. And, we are not young. We are in our 70's and completed the course like pros.

Marissa V.

Yelp
Had a fantastic adventure day here with a friend. We booked our tickets online in advance about a week or so. Small groups here the tour maxes out at 8 people + your 2 guides. We just did a traditional tour 3 rappels , 3 hour tour. Don't want to give anything away but it was a blast! Definitely would do again in a heartbeat. Getting there , you have to go through the Garden of Eden Entrance gate , tell them your here for the rappel and they will direct you to the next parking lot where you wait for your guides. Has small restrooms and a tiny shop with local art and some rappel gear.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem that honestly should not be hidden. Unless you're some kind of mountain climbing junkie or rappelling expert, this experience is memorable and one-of-a-kind. Where else can you walk through a tropical rainforest full of exotic (unfortunately, not a lot of native flora anymore) plants and canopy trees to, not one, but two gorgeous waterfalls! The experience started on the white-knuckle journey on the Road to Hana. I highly recommend booking the 8am tour as there's less cars on the road to deal with. Once you're there, the check-in process is super easy. Shauna and Elena are amazing guides, the best at what they do and they love what they do so it makes for such a pleasant experience. Got fitted with helmets, boots and harnesses and off we went. The hike to the first "test" cliff was brief and both guides were so encouraging and knowledgable. You get a feel for trusting your guides and hoping the metal and rope prevent you from a nasty rest-of-your-vacation. That was exaggerated. The second rappel is down a 55-foot waterfall. Yup. 55 feet. It may not seem high, but looking down, it felt like 500 feet. Again, Elena and Shauna were amazing at making sure you feel as comfortable as can be, cheering you on from start to finish. Rappelling next to a gorgeous waterfall is one for the memory book! Dropping into a chilly pond below was epic! From that point on, until you change into dry clothes after the tour, you're soaked. But really didn't have a problem with that. The 3rd rappel is another waterfall - albeit "shorter" at 33 feet. BUT, you can actually rappel IN the waterfall. Super cool. Another short drop into another chilly pond. Then some photo ops in front of said waterfall and then it's back up to the beginning. After the legs are jelly from being nervous rappelling down the waterfalls it seems like a long hike but we took breaks for Shauna to share about some surrounding flora, which was super cool. Back at the start of the tour, we unloaded our gear, had some much needed water and snacks and were able to finish up our tour cracking jokes and relaxing. Overall, this tour is a MUST-DO on Maui. Worth every minute and every dollar. Tip your guides because they love what they do and earn every dollar they get. Elena and Shauna - thank you thank you thank you for such a memorable time!

Janet W.

Yelp
Super fun way to spend the morning! Our guides Elena and Shauna were knowledgeable, entertaining, and took good care of us all. Bug spray was provided, waters, and a small snack. Highly recommend.

Katherine L.

Yelp
This was one of our favorite activities we did in Maui!! Thank you Sam and Abbie for your expert instruction and guidance - you made it fun and safe for all!! I wasn't so sure about this initially, but my kids really wanted to do it. The expert instruction made us all feel comfortable right away even though most of us didn't have rappelling experience. And, the scenery is fantastic! I highly recommend this adventure to anyone that wants to do something a little bit different.

Tiffaney P.

Yelp
Naomi and Ali showed us an adventure of a lifetime! Shawna showed up and captured this adventure for us! This was the most epic thing I have done! Thank you ladies for giving us such a great experience! I highly recommend and would do it again! Waterfall Rappelling is the best way to see a waterfall in the rainforest! Best part of the Hana highway for sure! The enemy of these ladies was amazing. All the encouragement and cheering was on point! Thank you ladies!!

Andrew C.

Yelp
My wife and I went rappelling down a waterfall on our honeymoon. This was our first time in Maui and rappelling. On your way to the location, you get a small taste of the Road to Hana. Our guides (Naomi + Abbie) made our experience the best! They were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend if you're feeling adventurous by yourself or the family.

Taylor K.

Yelp
Rappel Maui was such an incredible experience!! We had an absolute blast & our guides, Naomi & Shauna were FANTASTIC! Absolutely recommend!!

Jon S.

Yelp
An absolutely excellent experience. My wife, 2 kids 12 and 14, and I went on this tour this week and we had Elena and Jonas as our guides. They were absolutely fantastic. My wife was very nervous about rappelling and had never done it before. They were extremely calm and talked us through everything that we needed to do to rappel. We were inexperienced and they were great at explaining and giving us tips to help. They both worked together very well to make sure that we were safe and not to mention they were such nice people. The waterfalls were beautiful and so cool to be able to rappel down them. In fact the second waterfall they even let us choose a drier way down or to rappel into the waterfall which was great to have the choice. If you are brave I recommend the wetter way down but watch your steps. It's a beautiful place to get to do this fun activity. We were lucky that it was a beautiful day as well. This was a very memorable experience and can't wait to tell all our family about it and tell them to go!

Catirya S.

Yelp
These ladies are amazing, our tour guides Sam and Ropheka are the best. We were visiting from LA for my birthday. Everything from the checking experience to the checking out was absolutely great. Sam and Ropheka are beyond knowledgeable with the ropes. we were first timers and let me tell you they make you feel like you a pro :) . i highly recommend Rappel Maui, this is a must if you go to Maui!! I give them 10 stars :D Thank you Sam and Ropheka for making our experience unforgettable!

Carrie H.

Yelp
We had a wonderful time rappelling the waterfalls. This is a Must do activity for anyone who is adventurous and wants to do something off the beaten path. They were organized and professional with everything. Communication was clear from the time I booked. I was texted the night before with specific instructions. The activity itself was so fun. We felt safe the entire time. Elena an Shauna are true professionals.

Kelly F.

Yelp
This was a unique adventure on Maui. My wife and I got to see and experience spectacular vistas along with the adrenaline rush of repelling down 2 private water falls. The guides, Naomi and Jack, were fun, encouraging and informative. Not only did they make sure we were safe but they also knew tons of interesting facts about the island. It was well worth the money and avoided the usual tourist spots.

Guy K.

Yelp
In A Nutshell: -Rappel Maui is a fun activity you can do in a small group of family/friends. -The location is about 1/4 of the way on the Road to Hana co-located at the Garden of Eden Arboretum. -Parking was plentiful & easy. -Your two guides will meet you at the parking lot & walk you to get your gear fitted & store any belongings. -Our guides, Naomi & Deacon were very professional, cool & nice. -You will rappel off of a total of three different areas: the first is an easy practice/familiarization cliff, the second and third rappels are both waterfalls that drop down into small ponds. -If you don't have any experience it's okay you will learn very fast. -It's pretty rewarding to be able to rappel down into two different waterfall/ponds on a hot day in Hawaii. Overall, the entire experience lasts about 3 hours.

Rick Y.

Yelp
OMG! Never would I imagine my whole family (and my wife would approve) rappelling down a 55-foot waterfall! But our guides Ropheka and Elena made the whole experience one of our best family vacation memories. And we rappelled down not only one, but two waterfalls!! This is a once in a lifetime experience - super fun, safe, and you practically have the waterfalls all to yourself for photo ops as we were told that only Rappel Maui has access to the waterfalls.

Daniel C.

Yelp
We had a great time! Beautiful setting and our guides, Naomi and Abbie, were very sweet and patient. Took time to discuss different plants and animals along the way. Gave us plenty of time to swim in the waters and hang out between rappelling sites. This was the highlight of our road to Hana journey.

Stacie S.

Yelp
Amazing experience, truly life changing! Ropheka & Shauna we're amazing guides!! They taught everything in a calm concise way and helped me overcome my initial fear. They also added light humor & some education on the land and Hawaiian history. The waterfalls were so beautiful and it was the next level of connecting with nature by rappelling down. Can't wait to do this again when back in Maui!

Lani V.

Yelp
We had soooo much fun! Naomi and Abbie did a great job. 100% recommend and would do it again!

Pat M.

Yelp
Our family went rappelling here and had so much fun. Shauna and Naomi were great guides, patient fun, made us feel safe and was helpful in having a great time. I can't thank them enough as I walked away feeling much more confident and thrilled to have been able to conquer this feat. We did three rappels each different heights and difficulty. It was so fun to drop into the water below the waterfall. The scenery was gorgeous and the guides made it interesting on the trek back up the mountain. I hope you find time to do this while on Maui. You won't regret it!

Robin H.

Yelp
This was such a great adventure. My daughter and I were brand new at this and Alba and Ropheka made it both easy and fun. If you read the information on their site they describe everything you need, what to expect and so much ore. We were able to dive...no, jump...no rappel right into the action. The day was gorgeous, the comradary amongst the three groups was amazing and beyond it all- we did it! We were able to rappel in the flowing water of a waterfall in the rainforest of Maui. Incredible

Tracy C.

Yelp
This is long overdue. My family had the time of our lives. Funny to hear how proud our 13 and 15 year old were to see their parents rappel down waterfalls like we had done it before. It was all because our instructors Alba and Rophena were FANTASTIC. You know someone loves their job when they come in on their birthday!!! Thank you both for everything. The best part of our trip by far. It was surreal to look over at the waterfall as you are heading down. I am thrilled that we found you. Love the Clayton Clan

lisa m.

Yelp
What a great trip. Elena & Ropheka we're awesome. I highly recommend this. It was fun and not too scary. Anyone can do it!

Judy R.

Yelp
Looking for an adventure activity? Try Rappel Maui! Amazing skilled and professional staff. Utmost attention to safety and ensuring you have a good experience. I'm so glad I did this! As other reviewers have commented be prepared for the "stair master" hike from the bottom back to the start area. Scenery just beautiful!! Do it!

Eli R.

Yelp
This was one of the greatest experiences of my life!! Chris was amazing throughout the entire booking/planning process because I was planning to propose to my GF and wanted to keep the whole thing a surprise! I ended up booking a private tour and our guides were absolutely fantastic! Ropheka and Naomi were so helpful in pointing out the perfect spot and kept the whole thing a surprise! My now fiancee was shocked and over the moon with the private tour and me popping the question after the first big waterfall! I am so happy everything went soooo well and it is all due to this incredible team. A hugeeee thank you to Chris, Naomi, and Ropheka for such an amazing milestone and event in our lives! I would highly recommend this tour, it is MAGICAL!

Summer M.

Yelp
This was one of the best activities we booked while in Maui. Ropheka & Clint were great! Best part was being able to swim and see waterfalls we would never have been able to see without rappelling down to them. Very cool experience!

Catherine W.

Yelp
Naomi and Abbie were amazing guides! They made this trip so much fun. Super professional and safe. We loved every minute of this tour.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
This was an experience you don't want to miss out on even if you are scared of heights. The tour guides were amazing and helpful. It is adrenaline rushing and definitely worth every penny. I would definitely do it again.

Gil C.

Yelp
We did a group today of 8 and had Sam and Ropheka. They were awesome and we had so much fun. This was full on rappelling and very challenging since we have never done this before. They made it safe and fun and were very encouraging. It was a great experience for our family (felt like a family game of survivor). Thanks so much for a great time. Would definitely recommend it.

Jackson M.

Yelp
If you're looking for a great adventure that isn't scary, I'd highly recommend Rappel Maui! Ropheka and Naomi were amazing guides! I can't say enough good things about the way they handled the tour.

Joe S.

Yelp
This is a MUST DO FOR ADVENTUROUS FAMILIES!!! You've read the other reviews so I'd just like to add that Travis and Josh were awesome. The drive was smooth and we learned a lot about Hawaii and Maui on the drive. Once we arrived to the property we decided to eat lunch and explore the property for a few minutes while the guides got our gear ready. After the training, we all felt confident and safe at all times. I have to say that repelling down the 2 waterfalls was ONE OF THE COOLEST THINGS WE HAVE EVER DONE AS A FAMILY. I can't say enough about how much fun it was. We also hired the professional photographer and he was well worth the money. We got some awesome photos to remember the day. If you're looking for things to do while in Maui, this is the one to book!

Sylvia B.

Yelp
We rappelled with Abbie and Shauna as our guides today. We had the best time! They kept everything light hearted and fun. Everyone from our 11yo to our 21yo as well as us older adults, loved the challenge and the scenery was beautiful! Highly recommend!

Leia S.

Yelp
It's definitely one of the best adventures we had. Shauna and Ropheka were professional and fun. We had such a great time. Highly recommended! The Shen family

Brad A.

Yelp
Great experience and one for the books! This is real though and you need to understand: 1. They can't control nature - too strong water and the falls will pound you and not be safe. Rare these should never be any water but possible. 2. The guides always were looking out for our safety and did their best to explain what you need to do 3. This is real, outdoors, private property and you should be prepared to do physical work. There is an honest element of damaged because you are outside in beautiful nature putting yourself in a waterfall! Repel Maui team is all great and can not thank them enough!!

Rachel M.

Yelp
I've always wanted to rappel that I couldn't miss out on an opportunity in Maui. My husband and I loved it, and it was one of my favorite activities during our trip. We were picked up at the Park and Ride at the corner of 30 and 310 highway on North Kihea Rd. Then, it's about an hour drive to The Garden of Eden on the Hana Highway. Our tour guides, Rich and Matthew, were nice and professional. Safety is their number one concern that they do not offer photo packages like other outdoor activities. They provide thorough and clear instructions of rappelling basics and safety. They can easily pinpoint how you can improve for the next rappel. Don't forget to bring cash to tip the guides afterwards. Our tour had 8 people and included 3 rappels ranging around 50-110 feet. I was nervous and sacred at first. It was challenging to get used to the stance and leaning back with your body weight. Luckily, the first rappel was good to practice since it wasn't too steep. Because of the on and off rainy conditions, we did not actually rappel down a waterfall, which didn't bother me because the second and third rappels were muddy and a little slippery. So expect to get a little dirty and wet. Between rappels, you will do a little hiking, which is like go up muddy stairs. The last rappel one was the scariest at first sight but less intimidating and fun once I started going down with ease. It ends in the water and the view of a waterfall, which others rarely see since it's not a public Hana Highway spot. Because of the wet conditions and beautiful rainforest landscape, there are mosquitos around. Although they provided bug spray, I unfortunately got a few bites. After the three rappels, we had our lunch. Bring a waterproof camera or place your phone in a waterproof pouch. They offer a backpack and waterproof container for your belongings. They provide you with a vest, helmet, harness, and water shoes. There are restrooms on the site if you want to change afterwards. Rappel Maui is a unique experience, which seems to be newer activity/company on Maui. I highly recommended it.

Kristen T.

Yelp
What a gem. Private property all to your self. We booked a private tour for our group and it was well worth it. Deacon and Sam were the best. I felt safe, even though nervous and can't believe I got to rappel in or next to water falls. We did a total of 3 rappLes. First was about 30 feet, 60 feet and last 35-40 feet. All were different and had challenges. You could push off the rocks near the bottom to jump into the water or rappel into it. Best time ever. this is something you have to do once in your life!

aaron s.

Yelp
Wish I could give zero stars. DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM! They are unscrupulous business people and do not properly explain travel times, and fees. Avoid this company. Many other fantastic activities to do on the island.

David M.

Yelp
Today my wife and I took our 14 year old son, 13 year old daughter and her friend on the rappel Maui tour and it did not disappoint. Truly one of the best day adventure trips available. Our guides Rafekah and Naomi were outstanding, truly. From beginning to end they brought organization, safety, and real adventure every minute. I was worried that this trip would be a bit too much for our daughter and friend, and I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks to our guides we all made it safely, learned rappelling, and have some amazing stories to tell. Must do for every family visiting Maui.

Peyton P.

Yelp
Such a great adventure to do while in Maui. We got to see beautiful waterfalls and Forrest while hiking to rappelling spots. There was flash flooding while we were there, so we only rappelled off of cliffs, not waterfalls, but it took nothing away. Naomi and Ropheka were our guides and were excellent! Both very friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging!

Ann Marie J.

Yelp
We had a great time, it was everything I expected. Elena and Shanna were our guides. They made it easy and fun. I recommend this as a unique experience! We got to repel 3 times, first on an eaiser hill then next to a 60 foot waterfall and finally in a 40 foot fall. It was great fun for me and my family!

Liz A.

Yelp
I highly recommend this adventure! Naomi and Abbie were great guides!

C J.

Yelp
Rappelled down 1 dirt cliff, 1 small waterfall, and 1 medium size waterfall. It was a lot of fun but for $230 a person it was overpriced. Beautiful scenery all around.

Joshua J.

Yelp
Definitely a ton of fun. Emily was a GREAT guide, and Chris was okay too. We had a great time, but I've got to do 4 star for two reasons: pace was REALLY slow with a group of 8 people. Seemed like too many for a single group. Usually around 30 minute wait per rappel. Also the price seemed pretty high for 2 people (around $550 for two people, plus gratuity). Add $70 per couple for some sweet professional photos (optional). We loved the tour and highly recommend it, just keeping those caveats in mind. I mean, you're rappelling down a waterfall!!! Keep in mind if you're doing the extreme tour, this (in our case) involved climbing UP a waterfall, so be prepared for an adventure! Do it!!

Janny S.

Yelp
This is an experience you will not regret, definitely a check off my bucket list! It's not everyday you can tell someone you repelled down a waterfall in Maui! Emily and Taylor were our guides and they're super chill, funny, and experienced. They're also very good drivers! Hauling a 15 passenger van thru narrow and windy roads takes some skill. They pick you up at this park and ride lot at some freeway intersection and drive you to the middle of some jungle where the vegetation is lush and waterfalls are raging. Just kidding! It's actually midway on the Road to Hana at the Garden of Eden, so I really recommend doing the rappel tour first so you can get a preview of what the drive will be like for the Road To Hana and pick a few spots you'd like to see again. The first rappel is down a dry slope where you can practice your foot placement and rappelling. Then you go right into the first waterfall, the highest one of the day. Once you get thru this one, the 2nd one is a piece of cake. Just relax, keep your legs straight, feet flat, and stick your booty out and repel slowly so you can enjoy the experience! You drop into the water and the guide will unhook you, then you swim to shore or hang out in the water and watch the other people rappel down! Bring your GoPro and head strap, they have helmets with the strap holders. You can also bring your cell phone, they give you these backpacks and plastic containers to store them in. Do decide who should go first and switch off on the next waterfall for photos/videos. I say if you've rock climbed before, even in an indoor gym, you should feel comfortable with this, it's just wetter, slipperier, and in a less controlled environment. But trust your guides and pay attention to falling rocks and the weather because flash floods can occur in minutes. This was a highlight of my trip, it was adventurous, and picturesque!
