This is one of two bars at the gilded Lotte New York Palace—the other, The Gold Room across the way, isn't half bad either for its titular lacquered setting, but Rarities has an elite menu to match environs so handsomely homey that one could be forgiven for believing they'd been transported into George Russell's office and were awaiting his arrival to enjoy a nightcap. Rare spirits are the thing here, especially whiskey, so the whole experience will be best enjoyed by an avid drinker of brown liquor.
