This is a public park in front of the City Hall. Not very big, but it gets used often for events and things.
We are lucky to visit during the Christmas season one year, of course the thing to do is to go to a Christmas Market, and the one in Rathausplatz is the best!
The large trees are festively adorned with hears and candy canes, beautiful! Groups of people walking around each clutching a mug of steaming Weihnachtspunsch (Christmas punch, mulled wine with spices and spirits and sugar) is very....well...Christmas-y.
The aromas of roasted chestnuts, pretzels, pastries, candied fruits, cotton candy, and other delicacies wafting around every wooden stalls in the market make it impossible to decide what to eat, so the strategy is to stay long enough to try everything.
We also popped into the City Hall, there were concerts and choir performance. There was also a children's "workshop", where tiny little kids were learning to make beautiful handmade gifts and cookies.
It sounds corny to say, but I will say it anyway, Rathausplatz feels like Christmas fairyland that you read in books.
