What a food…! Excellent taste and texture. Idly sambar combo was a must try item. This place is situated near marina beach so while going that way all you guys go there and try it out. I swear it’s been a nice experience.

One of the best south indian restaurant in Chennai . Ratings:10/10 We ordered, Parotta- Korma. South Indian Veg Meal ( unlimited) Both of the dishes was too good in taste. The environment was calm and composed. I recommend everyone to visit this place.

Ratna Café in Triplicane is nothing short of a Chennai icon, and after my recent visit, I can see exactly why it has such a legendary reputation. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted with the comforting aroma of freshly prepared sambhar – a fragrance that instantly makes you hungry. I ordered their famous dosa with sambhar, and it was pure perfection. The dosa was crisp on the outside, soft inside, and served piping hot. But the real star was the sambhar – rich, aromatic, and so flavorful that I found myself asking for extra servings without hesitation. It’s the kind of sambhar you could happily drink like soup! The service was quick and friendly, and the ambience, though simple, is full of old-world charm that reflects decades of tradition. There’s a sense of history here – like every bite connects you to generations of South Indian culinary excellence. If you’re in Chennai and haven’t tried Ratna Café’s dosa and sambhar yet, you’re missing out on a timeless classic. This place isn’t just a restaurant – it’s a taste of Chennai’s soul.

Ratna cafe located in the midst of Triplicane market. It's a pure veg restaurant serving tiffins, lunch and dinner. The food quality and taste is very good. Went in for lunch around 2:30pm got the table easily , they have AC and Non AC sections in the same level. There is no price difference in the menu for AC, so one can comfortably seat and have their meal. I initially didn't know about it but the manager on duty suggested I can sit inside aswell. AC dining hall was centrally cooled and was pleasant, service boys were also good and took the order properly and served perfectly. Food taste was also good, one can blindly go here for any meals. Prices are a little premium and fine as we sit inside a AC dining hall and hygeine and cleanliness is good. Highly recommended if you are in triplicane and looking for veg food.

Food tastes good I don't think there is any question in that. The idly practically dissolves in your mouth and the coffee tastes good too. However the ambience is very poor. Now I understand that Ratna Cafe is a very old restaurant but it's about time you renovate this place because the restroom sucks. And everything is just old and bad and unclean. So for ambience alone I give this place a 3 stars even though it deserves 5. Menu does have a lot of items but the best seller is idly and it's always crowded so keep that in mind. Service deserves a shoutout as despite the huge crowd food gets served before you know it. But avoid buying sweets here as it doesn't look fresh and it looks 4 days old.

I went here after a gap of 3-4 years and had a reality check. The prices are higher than before. The food was fine - sambar was good. Nothing to complaint about really :)

One of the Oldest Hotel in Chennai. located in Triplicane. Their trademark signature sambar with idly is most famous dish. Pure vegetarian food. Cost wise on the higher side. Busy place They claim they use organic vegetables. Difficult to find Parking during peak hours. Taste is good. Overall good

This place has very good tiffin items, their sambar idli is very good and dosa was good. The coffee is on point and nice. The cost seems to be on the expensive side but the taste would validate the pricing.
