Google
Phenomenal golf course with a bit of a different feel than the typical desert style golf you see while down in Arizona. We played here recently on the final day of a 4 day golf trip and were not disappointed. The course was beautiful and played well. With it being close to Scottsdale where we stayed, it felt like we didn't have to drive far to get there and felt like we were playing a high end country club. It was an awesome golf course and super fun to play.

Google
This review is dated for 1-2-25. Course was amazing condition. Beautiful layout, challenging but fair. Fairways are generous. Greens fast. Would play here again. Great pace of play

Google
It’s clear that someone with professional landscaping knowledge is involved in the maintenance. Every hole was beautiful and very well cared for. The staff were extremely friendly, and the turf was excellent. From the driving range to each hole, I was thoroughly satisfied with my experience. Highly recommended.

Google
Very solid golf course continues to be one of my summer value favorites, Makes you feel you are a higher Arizona elevations due to the mature Pine tree lines, great views of South Mountain. Greens were fast and general conditions very good. Three suggestions: Place courtesy water botttles inside the ice coolers at least during the summer months. Plant shade trees near the golf cart larking areas around greens whenever they don't interfere with play in a drastic manner. This would make the course more bearable during summers. Vinyl seats get very hot. Recover the 18th silver tee box.

Google
Raven Golf Club is a midwestern style golf course in the desert of Phoenix in the city. The staff was very friendly and the practice facilities are very nice. Just wasn't very impressed with the course was on a guys golf trip and out of the 5 we played least favorite. I would prefer playing AK-Chin S. Dunes. or Estrella just to name a few. Better bang for your buck. The locals raved about this course because like I said its something different than the normal desert course in the area.

Google
Great practice facility! As good as my private club - Pauma Valley CC. Driving range has beautiful fairway-quality grass; the practice green putted true and didn't have ridiculous slopes ( I hate when practice greens don't provide any straight putts to practice); and I didn't use the practice pitching area, but while it didn't look large it looked like it had a nice setup. I will definitely be back here for practice sessions

Google
Just in town from Denver. We headed straight for the course. 3pm tee time. Hubby had a great time playing this course. Very picturesque. A little hot in June for a pm tee time. But the weather was perfect in the shade by the time they finished.

Rogelio C.

Google
Great course that’s definitely worth checking out. A bag of range balls was included which is a plus in my book. Nice range & chipping/putting area. Some double fairways, but for the most part pretty open. Fairways were also in good condition. Nice soft white sand in the bunkers, there’s a lot of holes were you’ll definitely run into some bunker trouble. Also cart girl was on point, saw her 3/4x throughout my round 👍🏼 the staff was friendly & welcoming. Only downside that I had was that the greens were recently punched, but they’re not horrible & still playable (played on 7/26) I will definitely play this course again.

Yelp
Gorgeous course, courteous staff! The favorite course amongst my group of friends. Worth every penny!

Yelp
Nice club tucked away in the Scottsdale area - I'd give it something in the 4.4-4.6 range. Visited in early December and the conditions were really, really good from tee to green. Not super developed, and has a unique feel to it. Some nice, very picturesque holes. Course is friendly to the golfer - a lot of the holes seem to have a bowl-like feel so that errant shots make their way back to a safe spot. If you're looking for a fun round with a group of mixed skill players - it's excellent. The course does not feel like a true AZ golf course - just a bit too artificial. Combined with the design, feels somewhat "resorty." Some may love it, only con for me. Friendly staff and reasonable price - free warm-up balls. Good breakfast burritos!! I'd certainly return, but wouldn't rank up there with the top courses in the area.

Yelp
Really like this course, With all of the pine trees, it really makes you feel that you are playing somewhere up north. Until you realize it's 110 and you're sweating just as much liquid as you're drinking. Course can be challenging in the back tee's. So it's important that you are playing at the correct tee's. Love the bunker placements here, makes you think twice about hitting a ball in an area. Greens were rolling great. It was a very relaxing round, great service, great course, and a great experience.

Yelp
Hit three golf courses while in town and Raven was THE ABSOLUTE BEST OVERALL! We belong to a club back home and while our home club is THE club for us, Raven came in super close. Wow. What an experience! - You can make reservations in advance online - From the time to pull up the ambiance from the parking lot is insanely great - Staff is elite very polished and everything runs efficiently - Seamless check in and BTW, your cart will have the name of the reservation on top with your guest listed as well - Two bags of driving range balls ready for you on each seat in the cart - The driving range is incredible. One side for all and the other strictly for members. Very nice - The golf shop is beautiful and the facilities inside were spotless very clean - The course is in perfect condition - At one point, my husband lost a golf cover - OSU Buckeyes for one of his woods. We played on a Saturday. Monday I called trying to get to the golf shop and no answer. Sent a ticket email from their website and got a call immediately within an hour. Yep. They had it. That turnaround time is epic. We stopped by after playing our 18 on Monday and there it was waiting for us. I'm very new at golf. Very new. I'm very sensitive getting adjusted to everything that is golf. Raven provided me the most top notch experience overall I cannot wait for us to return again. It was that exceptional.

Yelp
Absolutely loved the course!!! I golfed in the afternoon and the customer service was great all around. I felt so terrible for the cart girl (it was 118 ° outside) but she took great care of us and kept us cool with the mango towels she provided us! Definitely one of my new favs!!!!
google avatar

Morgan K.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible, conditions were great, for Late March, early April...but for June? Ridiculously amazing. Best conditioned course in Phoenix right now. Staff were all very nice, Ron the starter was super nice and easy to talk to, shop and cart staff were great, beverage cart attendant was super personable and I was very impressed with the quality of food and drinks in the restaurant. Sometimes I forget about this course or think it's a little more expensive than some comparable facilities, so I keep scrolling. But man, if this is why they are a few dollars more?...than it's a bargain at twice the price. Their superintendent and crew are doing outstanding work. You'll see this review on a few sites, don't think I'm not sincere, on the contrary...giving them as many props as possible. I was super impressed and just want to make sure everyone sees how awesome they are doing
google avatar

James P.

Yelp
I'm happy with Raven. From the guys running the front to the conditions on the course. I especially appreciate the outstanding customer service and providing mango face towels to help cool down. I'm happy to call Raven my home course as an Arcis member and I'll be coming back more often!

Yelp
Per my husband...Great course. The layout is unique and with the pine trees all along the course it is a bit different than most "desert" courses in Phoenix. Staff is always personable and helpful. Clubhouse is always clean with good food and cold beer. In my opinion, the restrooms are always clean. They don't charge for me to just ride along (that's not always the case at other courses. We have been charged upwards of $30 for me to ride along). Nice amount of shady spots along the entire course too!

Yelp
Mixed reviews at best. This review is for tourists, not locals, because my perspective is someone coming from Canada in December to play a couple of rounds. Firstly, the course conditions, from tee to green, were mostly immaculate. As good as any premium course I've played anywhere else including some private clubs. Even the landing area and pitching area of the driving range looked like it had been beautifully groomed -- they took the time to mow diagonal stripes into the grass! But, they really fell down with the bunkers. There had been some rain and maybe they have drainage issues. But there was no sand in any bunker -- mostly just hard pack dirt, if not standing water. For the green fees that you charge, I'd expect the sand to be white, fluffy and forgiving. At least I saved time not having to rake. The green fee for outsiders is a bit hefty -- $125 if I'm not mistaken? For us Canadians, after exchange rates, that's aboot the cost of four two-fours, eh? And I opted to rent clubs -- big mistake -- they gave me a set of Taylor Made M4s -- they were OK but almost two years old at the time I played. The set was missing a 5-wood, one of the shafts was mismatched (R instead of S) and the putter was a TM Spider but a bit old and beaten up, with no head cover. You also get an "A" wedge -- with no loft markings, so you had to take a few shots just to get a feel for what it was. I wouldn't normally complain, but geez they charged $65 for that! In comparison, for $50 at Legacy, you get a near brand new set of Callaway Rogue irons/hybrids with full set of Epic Flash woods, and a brand new Odyssey Exo Indy putter. Lastly, and this is really nitpicky, but I was kinda disappointed to see trees and water all over this course. When I chose to come to Phoenix, I wanted to play something different (i.e. desert, cacti etc.) not something that looks like home (albeit without the blanket of snow). Had I known, I might have picked another (cheaper) course.

Yelp
This week we hosted our business dinner at the Raven Golf Club's Grill 36 Restaurant. Kaitlynn Gaer was a pleasure to work with; she was organized, quick to respond, and extremely accommodating. It made planning our event a breeze. Kaitlynn and the rest of the team went above and beyond. They were friendly, attentive, and truly made our client dinner a success. From the beautiful views to the DELICIOUS food (I highly recommend the prime rib), everyone had an excellent time. Thanks, Raven Golf Club!

Yelp
Barry Hand in the pro shop acts like he is an temporarily inconvenienced PGA tour player. No customer service skills. Stay away from Raven.

Yelp
Let me start with we were considering cancelling because the weather called for 70% chance of rain. We are SO glad that we didn't. This was one of the best courses that we've played in AZ. The course was in impeccable condition and the greens rolled pretty true. The staff made it even more memorable. Tommy in the golf shop gave us a logo ball from his personal bag because the shop was out. The young starter was super nice and gave us several tips since we were new to the course. And to wrap up our round we were greeted by a nice young man who polishers up our clubs and made us feel like regulars. We will return on our next visit for sure.

Yelp
Probably the best pre-game setup. Bag crew and starter are top notch. The extra mile is the outside bar at entrance/in front of range. Geez- why haven't all courses done this? It was also very packed. The most amount of ppl I've seen for one course. Every range space was taken. Great management. Just seeded. Only draw back was cart path only. Wait if you can for a normal golf day experience. Everyone walking makes for a long day. Hit and wait. Golf death, if you will.

Yelp
Played here in Feb., 2021 and had a great experience! The staff was excellent, especially compared to a horrible staff experience at McCormick Ranch. From the time we checked in all the way to lunch, the staff was great - friendly and professional. Upon reading prior reviews of this course, it was apparent many people had issues with the staff here, but it appears management has placed an emphasis on this. Kudos! The course was immaculate, especially for the early golf season. I will definitely play here again and will recommend it to others.

Yelp
The course was kept well. Staff was friendly and helpful. Greens were in good shape. Enjoyed the course over all.

Yelp
We played in and outing at this course on Saturday. I have been living in the Phoenix area for almost 8 years in the East valley and this is the first time I have made it to the Raven to play golf. I was extremely impressed with the layout of the golf course. The fairways were well maintained, the greens rolled true and had some speed to them. There was water on the course which is nice to see on occasions. A lot of sand traps on the course, my only issue with the sand traps would be that the sand was a little thin in most of them. I was also impressed with the length of the golf course. Frequently when you play Community Golf courses you run into a stretch of holes that winds through the neighborhood and give a very tight feel to the course. That is not the case on this golf course. I don't know what it is about Arcis Golf courses, but they need to make a little bit more of an investment into golf carts, GPS would be nice. But just start with carts that run a little bit more dependably. The ranger and the staff are all super nice.

Yelp
I was the best man for a good friends wedding recently and we were shocked at the dishonesty they received. They had recently irrigated and it was soggy and muddy just 2 days before the wedding. Fine- they said it would be drive a fixed by the day of the wedding. They had said the muddy patches would be filled in. --- THIS WAS NOT DONE. We had to request the seating arrangement be changed because of the muddy patches. When we took pictures our dresses and shoes were soaked. The food was super weird. The meat did not Look that any thing I ever saw, it honestly looked raw.

Yelp
We had our wedding at the Raven this weekend. Chelsea was amazing to work with. She always responds to my texts and calls quickly. All of the staff was amazing in helping us get everything set up. The food got so many compliments. The green beans and the prime rib were to die for. Definitely recommend to all future brides. The golf course is stunning especially after over seeding in October. I can't wait for my picture come in.

Diana R.

Yelp
We had a baby shower there this past weekend And I couldn't of asked for anything better the tables were set beautifully the food was excellent the event coordinator was so helpful and nice I recommend this to anyone that' is having any type of wedding reception wedding ,baby shower , anniversary the venue was one of the best I've ever had it was beyond my expectations

Yelp
This is a hidden gem in the heart of the South Mountain community. The grounds, practice area, clubhouse and practice putting green are immaculate. The amenities are top-notch. Staff is so friendly! Once the kinks are worked out with some of the on-course bunkers, this will likely be a top 5 place to play in the state. It's just that good!
google avatar

Anthony K.

Yelp
The course was in fantastic shape and condition. The ranger was on our case constantly. We finished in 4.20 but had to wait on half of the holes. Greens were firm and smooth. Fairways were fantastic. Price was high with our discount card . Best shape of any course that ve played this yea. Food was good and price reasonable. Service was good

Kaitlynn G.

Yelp
Perfect doesn't even begin to explain the amazing time we had this past Saturday. From beginning to end the Raven was an amazing place for my Sister to get married. Chelsea, their coordinator was very sweet and welcoming to each guest and the amount of detail she puts into her work is amazing! Our whole family left feeling in such awe of the great hospitality the Raven provides. One of the best weddings we've been too!!

Jeff F.

Yelp
I play this course three of four times a month and it is one of my favorite courses in the Valley. The staff is great starting with the guys at the bag drop, the gentlemen in the clubhouse, the starter, on course Marshall and the nice people in the restaurant. The course is in tremendous shape and everyone goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and they genuinely appreciate your patronage.
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
The course was nice but there were so many bugs my Legs were eaten up after hole two. It was very uncomfortable and has virtually ruined the rest of our vacation. They knew it was a problem as the cart person was carrying bug spray.
google avatar

Andrew A.

Yelp
Course was not in good shape Way overpriced No distance markers No signs to show what hole or distance Crazy old guys we were paired with were "members" said they played there 3 times a week. After 4 holes they just took off to look for golf balls. The ranger was telling us to speed up play but we had a five some in front of us. Never going back horrible experience feel ripped off.

Daisy D.

Yelp
I had my wedding at Raven Sept 26,2021. I had amazing time. Chelsea was helpful and She is quick to respond in my email. Venue was beautiful and food was good.

jim q.

Yelp
The reason for 3 stars and not a higher rating is due to the use of restricted flight range balls they have at this particular facility. Even with a 350 yard + driving range, the Raven range has restricted flight balls!. In the event you have never hit one of these balls, the flight charictaristics are that of a wounded bird. Restricted flight balls take off slower, launch inconsistently (both lower & higher) and make productive practice with anything other than a short iron (or lower ball speed club) virtually impossible. If you are looking to work on your game, practicing with this type of ball on a regular basis will likely do your game more harm than good. Other than using restricted flight range balls, the facility & course are quite nice. Suggestion: Replace the current restricted flight range balls with standard flight balls and tell players that can hit it 350 not to hit a driver when downwind or when people are on the back of the range.

Yelp
I live in a nearby community to the Raven course and have had great feeling towards the course until the last couple of months. I was a prime Arcis member and decided to cancel my membership today due to the manager and his employee treating me disrespectfully and unfairly. Since I started attending the Raven, the boys in the front who assist players never gave me the same services that I saw them give others right in front of me. I am a young African male and felt like the boys treated me as if I was inferior to them and would tell me to do certain services for myself (that my membership included for free) while they would eagerly provide the services for other members. I finally felt that I couldn't take it anymore. Today, after experiencing similar discrimination of services as listed above, the manager came yelling at me at the first hole telling me to tee up quickly because there were people behind me. I told him I could not because there was another group of people on the course and I did not want to hit them. I was surprised that the manager was treating me this way, as I pay for the ability to play the course and be respected in my time to do so. Another time, I offered one of the front guys a $10 tip to clean my clubs and he immediately declined and then went on to clean another Caucasian player's golf clubs. Ironically enough, this service should be included in my membership. Overall, I've felt a sense of racial bias and being looked down upon. It is really sad that such a beautiful golf course is run by a disrespectful and biased general manager. I am bummed because I will not be attending the course anymore because it is a gorgeous course and is 5 minutes from my home. I have been coming to the course almost 2-3 times a week for the last couple of months and the service has continually become worse. I believe every person should be treated equally and with respect and if I am paying $60 a month for the Arcis membership in addition to $50+ for every tee time, I expect to at least be treated with some dignity.

Yelp
My husband and I recently had a wedding here and everything was fantastic! We started out with Kelly as our coordinator, unfortunately she had to move locations so we got Toni and Sophie and they both stepped up and helped us in every way. We had food tastings, we were able to go and look at the venue any time we wanted to, and they were on call 24-7 (the coordinators, that is). The day of our wedding it began to rain, and since our setup was outside we had to make last minute plans. The staff came and immediately set everything up inside literally an hour before it was supposed to start! Let me tell you, what a relief. Our wedding day was amazing and we truly have The Raven Golf Club, Toni and Sophie to thank. My husband and I definitely recommend hosting any event you may have here!
google avatar

Alana B.

Yelp
Nice course to play with decent greens and a lot of pine trees are on the course. Twice I said to myself, it does not feel like I am in Arizona! Friendly staff with a tasty cafe that has the option of indoor or outdoor seating. I would most certainly return, preferably in the cooler months. Price is right about there for the play. GPS units on carts died after about hole 11.

Natalie R.

Yelp
Recently had my wedding here in February. No words can explain how AMAZING it was. First of all Kaitlynn (wedding coordinator) was absolutely amazing! She was super helpful and very easy to talk to. Her and the girls who helped on my wedding day were so great to work with and ready to serve us in anyway they could. Even though somethings were not going as planned they were quick to figure out solutions and made it as smooth as possible. If you're looking for a beautiful, rustic stress- free wedding The Raven is the place to book!

Art P.

Yelp
Absolutely one of the best golf courses... well maintained and the staff is excellent and friendly... othe courses like Legend at Arrowhead anEagle Mountain should take lessons from them on being friendly... can't say enough good about them
google avatar

Angela A.

Yelp
Shannon and Bri were amazing!! The course was beautiful and the service was even better. My friend and I could not be more pleased with our experience! I would 10/10 recommend this place to a friend.

Katie K.

Yelp
Love golfing here but was disappointed they don't have iced tea. How am I supposed to have an Arnold Palmer without iced tea? How am I supposed to golf without an Arnold Palmer? It's my lucky drink. Overall would recommend coming here but wish they had tea.
google avatar

Damian N.

Yelp
Sand traps are horrible. Tough greens, fairways were very nice. Played behind some ex-professional athletes, not good golfers, they fell behind 5 his holes. Marshall tried to speed them up. Could be a great course, FIX THE SAND TRAPS PLEASE!
google avatar

Tom O.

Yelp
I usually play this course two or three times a year when visiting Phoenix. Normally I would rate this track with five stars. However, this year the sand bunkers were in such bad shape (very little sand and weeds growing out of what little was there) I can only give it three stars. I hope this is due to the rains of two or three weeks ago and not a change in management's care of the course resulting in this kind of neglect.

Thomas B.

Yelp
Great course! I was surprised with the condition of this course. It was immaculate. It was great to get out on the course and outdoors during this crazy covid world we live in currently. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because of the functionality given covid and how busy the course was. Aside from those this is an amazing place to go play.
google avatar

Sherry K.

Yelp
Beautiful course:) Ron the starter was the highlight of our day:) unfortunately we waited on every shot for the first seven holes. We were following the last group of a tournament, and there were several groups behind us waiting as well. Ok, we understand, we are the first group after the tournament until a group jumps in front of us on the back 9. We now are waiting on every shot again! We call the pro shop on 14 which takes several rings and tell them about this they say they'll send the marshal, which of course we finally see someone on 16 green. Lastly, we came in and there was no one to clean our clubs. I think the bosses had all gone home because the few who were there were very young and busy talking to each other. I don't think this is the norm, but very frustrating...
google avatar

Andrew J.

Yelp
Amazing course. Very well maintained and the course was difficult, but in a good way!
google avatar

Tom S.

Yelp
The course is and practice facility is great. The only problem I have with it is the Marshall coming by every few holes telling people to speed it up even if there's nobody behind you. I played with my boss and a couple of coworkers a few weeks back and they loved the course but not the constant pressure applied by the Marshall. They are in no hurry to play here again.

Kirk M.

Yelp
Traveling golf group had the opportunity to play Raven yesterday. The staff was immediately attentive and engaging. The course was in fantastic shape, beautiful lush fairways and mid/firm greens. Special thank you to Chelsea our on course beverage specialist and the starter. We had a fantastic time at your facility. We will definitely return again.
google avatar

Trish G.

Yelp
Beautiful course. Nice restaurant. Lots of sand and water. Well worth it. Price was $80 for winter rates.
google avatar

Chad H.

Yelp
I know I'm in the minority here, but this place is overrated. The course is good, but just not great. The front is pretty boring but the back nine does have some very good holes. I know people get excited any time a course in the Valley has trees instead of desert, but that seems to be the only thing people talk about here. Trees are cool, but not instant 5-star cool. If they had some lower rates I could bump the Raven to 4-stars, but it's overpriced year-round. Even the summertime rates are too high to get me excited enough to go back out there. I get that other people really like it, so I'd say try it out if you get a decent rate, but I'd much rather go down the street to the Legacy than play here.
google avatar

Brian W.

Yelp
Staff was like they did not want us there.. we had a golf tournament there this weekend- We had a group of 9 foursomes, so 36 players, we have played there for 10 years. They had 1 server for 39 breakfast, the gal was nice and did her best but the management was so very unprepared.. some of the group waited an hour for their food, and never got food because we had to go tee off.. Played came off course and was kicked out because they had a wedding behind us.. Literally told to leave, The management was so disrespectful to everyone in our group. I have been in the hospitality business for about 20 years and have never seen anything like this.. This comes with my strongest recommendation not to come here and play.
google avatar

Yelp
One of the best things about golfing in the Phoenix area is that there are many great high end courses where the general public is welcome. Here in the Boston area, most of the best courses are snooty private clubs. Raven is one of the best golf courses I have played in Phoenix. It can be pricey, especially during the peak season in the spring, but the course is beautiful and challenging, and since the desert golf motif is my personal favorite, it ranks high up there for me. For a little less $$, Legacy and Vistal are nearby, and are also nice courses with great views of South Mountain.
google avatar

Michael A.

Yelp
I have to say I was very displeased with my golf experience after playing The Raven for the first time. The course was beat up and the greens were in horrible condition. The staff seemed to lack professionalism and overall golf etiquette. Many times throughout the round workers drove carts behind our group while swinging. To top it all off, the sprinklers came on at the end of our round and workers said we would be arrested for trespassing if we played another hole. My advice: Drive 100 yards farther west on Baseline and play Legacy. Same price, better course, worthwhile overall experience.
google avatar

Dave H.

Yelp
Great course but rangers are unaware that their presence is annoying. Played a tournament in 4.5 hrs and got hawked for the first seven holes. One thing if the ranger is parked off to the side, but to be consistently slowly driving by the green while you're in the fairway playing a hole is a nuisance! And on top of that he fealt it was necessary to tell us about the group 2 holes ahead that was playing slow...what the hell does that have to do with our group!?! And why is he trying to have conversations with us on multiple occasions?!? Leave your guests in peace!
google avatar

Jeremy P.

Yelp
Raven @ South Mountain is great. Obviously, the most unique thing about this course is the distinct non-Arizona vegetation, which really takes you out of the surroundings. It's definitely one of the most beautiful courses in the Phoenix area. It also has its fair share of interesting holes. Water is rare, but comes into play a couple of times on the front nine, as well as on the 18th hole. There are a few greens that are very well protected, so make sure your bunker game is in working order. That said, it is quite pricey, with a summer morning round costing over $50. For $50, there are better courses to play in Phoenix. Also, it seems a lot of the people who play here think they are hot shots. Maybe it's because they can afford to spend $50 in the summer on a less-than-perfect course.
google avatar

Al G.

Yelp
A very nice course. Great fairways, can be narrow at times. For the price you can't really beat it. The only knock is the greens on the back 9 were pretty lousy. Maybe it was the pin placement but the greens were more like the surface of the moon than a nice smooth playable surface. Putting was almost impossible on some of the greens. Water to drink on the course would be nice as well. I'll be back though... maybe in the fall it will be better.
