Where to Stay in London When You Visit (Updated 2025)

"Set on a calm tree-lined street in a Victorian mansion, this midrange boutique in Notting Hill is a peaceful retreat with clean, light-filled rooms, friendly staff, and a common room offering free coffee and tea all day." - Matthew Kepnes

Mediocre hotel in a nice location. Looks like the hotel was refurbished recently but quality of finishings is cheap. Single glazed windows, so gets very noisy. Super uncomfortable mattress, too soft and bouncy and you can feel the springs in your back. Room was overall clean except for the bathroom. The cleaning person forgot to clean someone else’s hair which was all over the shower floor. In the morning, couldn’t even talk about these issues, as the reception was manned by a worker / technician wearing overalls who barely spoke any English. The night manger who welcomed us was very nice though and helpful. Didn’t feel like having breakfast there as food looked cheap and processed. There are many other better breakfast options in the vicinity. No kettle in the room and very basic amenities. Such a pity. Great potential that remains unfortunately unfulfilled.

We stayed 4 nights here and had a great stay. Great value for the location, everything you need for a trip to London on your doorstep. Didn’t meet a lot of staff but the ones we met were all kind and helpful, especially when my son took unwell. We had 2 rooms- 22 and 222. Room 22 is a very small but comfortable en- suite, one floor up from reception. Perfect for crashing after a long day, very limited storage. Room 222 was a superior double. Much more spacious with bigger windows. Very nice. Shower gel, soap and shampoo are provided, not conditioner though. Showers on the top floor were hit and miss at times. Lower floor was fine. The windows are knackered so it’s loud in the morning with sirens and drilling etc. If you’re staying here take some noise cancelling headphones or earplugs and you’ll have no problems. We had a great time and would definitely return!

I stayed with my mum for 5 nights. We had superior room with private bathroom. Everything was good, very clean. The room was good size. Perfect location near underground and bus stops and near Tesco Express. Also nice staff. Breakfast were good, small selection of sweet and salt variations. We would use some eggs or vegetables. Only disadvantage of this accomodation is noise from the street. But I know I selected hotel in the city centre. IF possible, buy sleeping pills, then you won't mind at all.

A beautiful townhouse in a very upmarket part of London, (only a few streets away from the Beckhams, Jimmy Paige and Elton John). Staff were very friendly. Fantastic value for money. Some rooms have a shared WC and separate shower room which were immaculate. Housekeeping replaced our towels daily. The only downside for me was the noise from the road and the police sirens due to the nearby Notting Hill police station, so I would recommend a rear facing room if possible. Despite the road noise I slept like a log as I was so tired from sightseeing. An absolute bargain and I would return again in a heartbeat!!

I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. I booked the room with hotel’s car park. On my second night, my car was broken into. Frankly, this hotel was far from professional, especially in crisis. As until now 5 days later, the hotel manager still has not contacted me back. However, they were quick to reply and stated that they WOULD NOT take any responsibilities from this incident. The only thing they could offer was free parking until I could sort things out. They forgot the fact that my car was being vandalized on their premises, not on the street.||||On the night of the incident while I was woken up by a knock on the door. The reception said that my car alarmed was on. Then we went to the car park, I noticed that the gate was opened and was dark. We found that my car was broken into. The theft took my bag and some valuables. Consider the gate was not locked, the car park being poorly lit and CCTV were not available to the reception. This is purely negligence. Frankly should this hotel have protocol in placed like other 3 stars hotels, the theft would have thought twice about climbing the fence. In other words, if you prioritize professionalism and security during your stays then this hotel is not for you.

This is nothing but an expensive hostel. Room photos and descriptions are misleading on booking sites. |We first made a mistake with our check in date, and although there was more than a month till our arrival, they refused to amend the date (by only one night!) straight away, and didnt refund us. |When we arrived it was another disappointment as it seems we booked a standard room instead of one with en suite bathroom, meaning we have to share one (1) toilet and one shower with the whole floor. No paper towels in the toilet either, you share a single hand towel with the rest again. No bath robes, no diaposable slippers or anything like that. You need to get in line to shower with a clean set of clothes and put them on in the shower so you dont have to walk back to your room with a towel around the waist.

We had a great experience at the hotel where we stayed for a night. Our room was very clean, bright and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful and Rosie managed to get us a late check out which was perfect for my little boy and I. Great location, very close to the underground. Definitely recommend!

Very centrally located between 2 tube stops. Agree with others who said the bathroom is too small. The sink is tiny making it hard to even brush your teeth. The shower is also tiny making- would not recommend for larger people. We were here during the heat wave and they kindly gave us a fan - thank goodness! We didn’t have the breakfast. Not the greatest but good value and I would stay again.

Yelp
The Ravna Gora was a sweet little hotel with an excellent location. We were charged a bit more because we booked through a third party vendor, so try to call the hotel for the best rates. The rooms were clean aside from some water stains on the wall. The bathrooms were communal for the floor, but they were clean and I only had to wait to use the restroom once, at which I used the restroom off of the lobby. The hotel manager was very kind and took time to talk to us and get to know our story. He was very kind to tourists. While I wasn't a huge fan of the communal bathroom situation, I would definitely visit again.

Yelp
I'm staying here for 9 days & this writing is as of day 2. At just below 80 lb a night (685lb for the 9 nights on booking.com) for a single including breakfast, I'm clearly staying here for the price (low) given the locations (great - near Nottinghill Gate & Holland Park). But the place is 2 & maybe 3 star at best. My single is about 10x12'. No desk to work on, shower has only hot water & my room faces the noisy road with a window that does not close all the way. The wifi pretty much does not work. Except for sleeping, I don't think I will be in the room very much. Update after 7 days - location is great - short walk fro Holland Park & a little longer walk to Kensington Palace. I've gotten use to all the problems except for the wifi. It does not work.

Yelp
A week in hell, the first night there my sister got bitten all over her body, then the breakfast times was a hit or miss which means you were lucky to get breakfast if you showed up at the right time. The workers need to be more professional. This was our first over there, the plane ride was lovely with British Airways, the carnival was wonderful. So we need a refund from the Ravna Gora. The pictures that we saw online before we booked our home there was gorgeous but we got a cat in bag. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, thank God we didn't take my pets, they would have gotten eaten.

Yelp
I loved this place, especially the view of the treetops and the parky, tree-ish location. The Wi-Fi is wonky but the Mitre pub across the street has a decent connection and is a fine place to work. The staff were friendly, and all the Serbian Victorian iconography was fun and didn't seem to betoken any overt political nationalism, though I was curious about it and about all the groups of young men speaking an unfamiliar language and smoking--I wondered whether this was some kind of Eastern European cultural hub? Maybe someone out there can enlighten me. The rooms were clean and comfortable. It's a beautiful old building, and the tube is nearby, as is a Tesco where you can grab a bottle of wine and a sandwich. If you walk east you can get to Portobello Road in about 10 minutes.

Yelp
BED BUGS!! My friends and I booked this room for a long layover in London so that we could get a bit of rest and explore the city. The facility appears to be pretty nice for the price. The bathrooms are shared but the rooms are rather attractive and have sinks in them. After a very long flight to the UK,we were happy to lay down and take a nap. We checked the sheets and mattresses before getting in the beds, even flipped them over and saw nothing of concern. Shortly into our nap, one of my friends jumped from the bed saying she thought she saw a bug and sure enough she had several bites on her body. Using our phone flashlights, we found two bed bugs scurrying behind the fabric headboard. We got our things and got out of there as quickly as we could. We told management but they denied it, even with proof right there on our phones. We spent the night in the airport and hoped we weren't taking any "souvenirs" from the Ravna Gora with us. Bad experience.

Yelp
just the most disgusting place I have ever stayed, if we were on our own we would have walked away, but in a pre booked party of 11 it was difficult, service was non exisitant, we were given a key and that was it. Room was the smallest double I have ever seen, just a partition off the next room, bed filthy and old, linen the same, non working lights, shower was so filthy I refused to use it, toilet and washbasin no better, paintwork was covered in years of ingrained black grime. Breakfast consisted of chips, cold beans, near raw eggs and mouldy toast. How this hotel has not been closed down is a miracle. And for this pleasure you are relieved of 80 of your hard earned pounds, a total and utter rip off. Avoid at all costs
