Rawla Narlai Luxury Heritage Hotel

Rawla Narlai is a beautiful, exceptionally well-maintained hotel offering a truly 5-star experience. From the high-quality, beautiful rooms with effective air con (a must have), delicious food - to the excellent drinks, service, and the unforgettable Stepwell Dinner, everything exceeded our expectations. In addition, the presence of local monkeys was great entertainment. It's an ideal spot for relaxing and unwinding. [The only very minor point to mention of an impeccable, and overall incredible, stay, was that we were woken up in the mornings by the sound of sweeping outside our rooms.] However, this was a very small side note in an otherwise flawless stay.

While travelling toward Udaipur, we stopped at Rawla Narlai Luxury Heritage Hotel, in rural Rajasthan, hoping to experience their celebrated stepwell dinner. As it was a weekend, the experience was fully booked; however, we were warmly received by Mr Yash Puri from Front Desk, who explained the concept in detail and advised us to return on a weekday.||The following evening, 15th December, we returned as a group of three, despite not staying at the hotel. Yash had already given us a thoughtful tour of the heritage property the previous evening, and on the night of the dinner he personally greeted us at the gate. A gesture that immediately set the tone for a refined and personal experience.||Guests are welcomed with a drink and offered traditional Rajasthani attire. Turbans for men and scarves for women — an elegant cultural touch that enhances the sense of occasion. While the curated stepwell menu is included, additional dishes from the hotel’s main menu can be ordered at an extra charge.||The experience unfolds as a magical journey from the Rawla, travelling through quiet village streets and into the surrounding jungle, before arriving at the breathtaking 1,100-year-old stepwell, dramatically illuminated by hundreds of oil lamps and lanterns. The atmosphere is intimate and evocative of royal Rajasthan. Dinner is a simple yet soulful Rajasthani feast, beautifully paced and accompanied by live folk music, adding a layer of cultural sophistication rather than spectacle.||Upon returning to the hotel, guests may enjoy a complimentary head and foot massage, which we chose after dinner and found exceptional. Time can then be spent relaxing in the gardens or at the bar. A privilege especially enjoyed by resident guests. We, however, returned to our hotel in Udaipur, approximately 90 minutes away, entirely satisfied that the journey was well worth it.||This highly sought-after experience is often sold out on weekends, so advance booking is essential. The cost was ₹17,000 for two people, which represents excellent value for such a rare, immersive, and beautifully curated luxury experience in Rajasthan.||A truly memorable evening — refined, authentic, and effortlessly elegant.

Indulge in luxury and comfort from the moment you arrive until the very end of your stay. Rawla Narlai, a beautifully restored former hunting palace, is a true heritage gem. The property is filled with colorful gardens, inviting outdoor spaces, and plenty of peaceful corners to relax and unwind. Our suite was stunning—tastefully decorated with antique furniture, vibrant stained-glass windows, a marble bathroom, and a lovely balcony and veranda perfect for lounging. Service throughout the stay was outstanding. The spa massage by the pool was excellent and deeply relaxing. A special mention goes to the staff uniforms, which recreate old royal-era attire and add a charming historical touch to the experience. The view from the outdoor restaurant, overlooking Elephant Rock, is absolutely spectacular. One night here is simply not enough.

We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of December and had a very memorable stay. All the activities put on by the hotel were incredibly well planned and thought out. In particular I would recommend the stepwell soiree, the leopard safari and the village walk. Although the hotel is located in a small fairly remote village, because of the activities organised by the hotel we always had something interesting to do. ||The staff were very attentive and nothing was too difficult for them. The hospitality of this place is truly unmatched! One member of our group had a small accident while we were there and the hotel management and staff made sure he was well looked after and cared for. We felt like we were treated like family. ||We stayed in the heritage section of the hotel and highly recommend it.

We had booked the resort for 3 nights for a surprise milestone birthday celebration. The experience, hospitality, food - everything was exceptional. The personal touches made the celebration special and truly memorable. The safari, jungle lunch were amazing but the stepwell dinner was the icing on the cake. |The staff goes out of the way to ensure that the guests are comfortable. The hospitality is unmatched.|A special shoutout to the staff - Rinkesh, Shailender, Kripali and their team. You guys are absolutely amazing.

We were not sure if 3 nights here was too long. Absolutely not. 14 days into our Indian trip the Rawla Narlai provided just the total relaxation we needed. The pool is first class, climbing the hill for sunrise very special indeed. The safari too was great, we saw one leopard thanks to our tenacious guide/ranger Bhupendra Singh but others saw more. The step well dinner was a spectacle with hundreds of twinkling lights under a satin black sky. Though we love Indian food, and had eaten nothing but up to this point, the range of non-indian food was welcome just for variety. Their pasta is very well prepared. The rooms are luxurious with lovely bathrooms and many have terraces. The grounds and setting are beautiful. Service was impeccable without being overwhelming, our waitress Sana was lovely and spoke excellent English. Overall we loved Rawla Narlai and could easily have stayed longer.

A lovely hotel, staffed by the usual high standard of staff, where nothing is ever a problem. We did the afternoon safari, saw several leopards. Whilst not on a scale of an African safari, we enjoyed it nonetheless. Dinner in the stepwell was also a unique experience. Definitely a stay to remember.

We had an amazing few days in Rawla Narlai. The rooms are well appointed, and comfortable. The property is just the right size - neither too big and nor too small. While it is located literally "in the middle of nowhere", the team at the resort have developed numerous curated activities including wildlife safaris, evening tea by the lake, a countryside drive, and dinner by a step well. Each of these is packaged very well and executed to perfection. The crew is very responsive, and always helpful and ready to suggest alternatives and meet our holiday needs. We would highly recommend this resort. We are particularly appreciative of the Naturalist, Mr Sanjay Bhandari who accompanied us for three of our activities, including the leopard sighting, the discussion on birds during the tea at the lakeside, and the visit to the horse farm as part of the countryside drive. He is extremely knowledgeable about wildlife and shared a lot of his information with us.
