My family have their “shack” as we call it however I live in WA but do find most times to get to the shack & experience the fresh air & the surrounding bird sounds & open fires. It has been an enjoyable time with family & their friends. Love to have a delicious meal at the pub, always too big a meal but there is always someone happy to finish it. Thank you Rawson you have given many years of peace , quiet , relaxation & lovely walks to the whole family. Keep up the good work. Patricia M 😁👍🌜🌈

Lovely quiet spot set amongst beautiful bush. We had a powered site with ensuite (very out dated) the loo had been updated but the basin and shower are very outdated and in need of replacing. We only used the loo because we were worried if we put our clothes or towel down the bugs would walk away with them. Never saw anyone at reception the whole time we were there. Loved that we were able to have a fire and that we had bins on our site (waste and recycle) to put our rubbish in and a large rake to rake up the area of leaves etc . Very disappointed to find out the Stockmans Pub is closed permanently after being told earlier in the year it would be open. The few negatives of our stay are things we can work around as we loved the overall relaxed feel of our stay. The park does feel like it needs a little TLC in places

The van sites are long and gravelled so there's limited dirt and mud in wet weather. Plenty of room for those with big rigs. The setting is lovely amongst tall trees. That's where the good parts end. Each site has a little concrete bunker/ensuite from the 1960s, which while never updated, was very clean. Ours was in a state of disrepair. There is no ventilation unless you leave the door open, which while recommended, I was not keen to entertain lest I find a snake in the toilet bowl or sink. The camp kitchen had a huge stainless steel sink and a tap with no water connected! The gas trolley BBQs were covered in a thick film of dust. The bar and bistro on-site is advertised in the local tourist mag but was closed and had overgrown grass on the steps so clearly hadn't been opened in a while. It would have been nice to be told this at the time we booked. All of this (or lack thereof) for the extraordinarily expensive price of $50 per night. Seriously?

I stayed here for New Year's Eve, and it was very quiet, the busiest night was NYE but even then 2-3 sites were empty (and there are only like 12 sites). The sites are spacious and are located in amongst the beautiful tall gum trees. Every site is powered and has its own ensuite, and it's only $50 a night (I believe it is $48/night off-peak)! The park is right next to a beautiful state forest which is great for bushwalking and 4WDing. The caretaker is friendly, and the caravan park is next door to the Rawson Stockyard pub, which is open Friday - Sunday. From the caravan park, it is a short walk into town, which doesn't have much, but it does have a mini mart, which has groceries and some really good burgers and chips. From the park it is less than a 20 mins drive to the Walhalla Historic Township via the sealed roads, or about 30-45 mins via the 4WD tracks, depending on your 4WDing ability. The only downfall is that there aren't many outdoor swimming spots in the area (the local pool is indoors) so if you like being around water in summer, it is probably better to come in a different season. This is a great caravan park. I highly recommend and I will definitely be coming back.

I spent a few weeks here with my partner on a prospecting trip and absolutely loved it. Nicest and friendliest people run and own it. Either camp ground, caravan space or cabins. We used a cabin due to the weather and found it clean and well serviced. The cost was discounted for us due to off season and duration of our stay. A quality restaurant serving food that has a reputation of being very good in the locale. I will definitely return here and recommend to anyone thinking of visiting,

We had a wonderful camping in autumn with friends at Rawson Caravan Park. Campsites and ensuites are clean. Free fire drum. They also sell wood fires in case you ran out yours. Really enjoyed evening walk through the caravan park as you can see beautiful shades of autumn colours. Walhalla North Garden is just 16minutes away.

A lovely spot in the bush and very peaceful! Pretty much had the place to ourselves.. a little disappointed with the camp kitchen! Could be far better equipped, especially with the price you pay ($50 per night)! We have stayed in far cheaper places with better facilities! Unfortunately the bar/bistro was also closed..

This caravan park is a small set up set amongst the tall trees. Each site is powered and with ensuite. If you have the ability to caravan with your own ensuite facilities, use those - unfortunately the ensuites are a huge let down, extremely dated and not spacious (the shower cubicle is very small) - they need updating. The communal and central camp kitchen is great and nicely set out, good for groups and all. Fire pits are supplied with the site and bags of wood available from the reception area. Sites aren't really level so keep that in mind when setting up and if rain is forecast, be prepared for low level mud and slosh around you setup. Location is spot on.. so close to the Rawson Stockyard you can book your meal in and enjoy the great food and atmosphere. 20 mins from Thomson Dam which is a nice drive! Booking and check-in are seamless and no fuss, really welcoming and easy. I would stay here again but being self sufficient with a shower is best option if on a site.
