Caribbean Islands Will Begin Reopening to Americans in June

"Tourism is 45 percent of our GDP, so you can imagine we need to have our guests back sooner than later,” says Tanya McNab, marketing manager at Belize’s Ray Caye private island resort, which will welcome guests back in July when the country intends to reopen."

This place was absolutely incredible. My wife and I went a couple weeks ago for our honeymoon and could not have chosen a better destination. It takes a little extra effort to get there (you fly into Belize City and then take a small airplane to Placencia where a boat takes you to the island) but that adds to the mystique and is definitely worth it. From start to finish we loved everything. I had slight reservations going into it that there was only 1 restaurant to eat at. I cook at home a ton and eat out a lot so I have relatively high expectations but this kitchen was unreal. Breakfast and lunch menu is the same every day but there were several options I wanted to try that I didn’t even get around to in the 6 days we were there. Dinner menu is different every night and every option was delicious. I would come back for the food alone but the staff is what makes this place truly special. Floret, Noe, Franklin (Benjamin Franklin), Pablo (Pablito, The Beast), and Barnaby were the group taking care of us while we were there and they could not have been more lovely to be around. Honeymoon suite was insane. We snorkeled with sharks and sting rays. We will be returning with friends in the future❤️

My family stayed at Ray Caye in early March 2025. Everything about the resort exceeded our expectations. The staff was incredibly welcoming and warm. The Lionfish Grill absolutely blew us away. The food was super tasty, the menu had variety, and the service was a genuine pleasure. Our room (we stayed in an Oceanfront Villa) was spectacular. ||But you come to Ray Caye for the water adventure, and it did not disappoint. We did five dives over two days (including a night dive) and saw absolutely everything (eels, turtles, rays, grouper, barracuda, lobster). Even the snorkeling around Silk Cayes between dives was filled with eagle rays, sting rays, and loggerhead turtles. The underwater highlight was the nurse sharks that followed us around during the dives like puppies, hoping to snack on lionfish. ||Because the Caye is only 10 minutes from the barrier reef we could finish up a two-tank dive by lunch and have the afternoon to enjoy fishing, kayaking, and sailing around the island. The staff are laid back and make it easy to enjoy yourself at whatever pace you choose. This place is truly magical.

Everything about this stay was spectacular. The island is beautiful, the room was immaculate, and the staff steals the show. From management, to the bartenders/restaurant staff, to the grounds keepers - super friendly and just overall great people. So much fun to be had on and off the island (or just relax if that’s your thing), but that REEF! It surrounds the island and so alive and colorful! We spent hours just drifting it with snorkel and mask. This was our 20th anniversary trip but can’t wait to come back with the kids!

This place was worth every penny spent. My wife wanted a 10 year anniversary vacation trip different from cruises we've been on and Ray Caye exceeded her expectations. I had a different location booked that had to cancel my reservation unexpectedly so I found this one by accident and we are both glad it worked out the way it did. The honeymoon suite is the way to go, it has the best views. The staff is amazing, the food is delicious, my wife loved the drink choices, and the views are priceless. It was the perfect break we needed, you really are on island time here. It's a nice change of pace and relaxation truly at it's finest, you will not be disappointed! We will definitely be repeat customers and already planning our next trip back.

This place is a true gem, one of the absolute BEST vacations i've been on. My Mom and I stayed here for 6 nights and its was a dream. The staff were warm, very attentive, treated us like queens and answered all of our many questions about the island. Grateful for such a kind reception from the moment we stepped off the boat, thank you to: Freddie, John, Francisco/Where-O, Aileen, KayKay and France, you all made our stay absolutely fantastic and we can't wait to come back. The food was delicious and plentiful, the drinks were divine, the cabana was clean and with the most amazing view. They take such good care of the grounds, raking the sand everyday and we didnt get a single bug bite! Boat ride to and from the island with our captain, Evel, was also top notch. The staff (Where-O!) made us a bonfire on the beach for our last night and it was such a memorable time looking up at the stars and with the waves lapping at the shore. We were sad to leave but can't wait to return. Highly recommend!

EVERYTHING about our stay at Ray Caye was nothing less than perfect. All of the staff went out of their way to make you feel special and at home. Every meal we had was exceptional and unexpected at such a small place. The views all around the property are beautiful. Seeing all the wildlife, and a few local dogs, made our stay even better. We loved, loved, loved this resort and will be back.

We have never stayed on an island (Caye) so small - we weren't sure what to expect, but we absolutely loved it!! It grew on me more every day. Worry free, happy life. The sunsets are incredible, you are surround by the ocean, watching the brown pelicans dive into the water for fish is something I could do all day. This place is the epitome of laid back. But there are activities if you want them -We did one afternoon of diving and two afternoons of snorkeling - the reef is only about 10-15 minutes away. We were blown away by the snorkeling, as we swam with giant sea turtles, eagle rays and nurse sharks. Some wonderful healthy corals and oh how I hope it stays that way. EVERYONE who works at Ray Caye is fantastic - thank you to the entire staff!! The dive master even lent me his go pro when he saw how disappointed I was that I didn't have an underwater camera :-) The bartenders and staff at the Lionfish Grill are so nice and so much fun - we are coming back someday for that karaoke challenge! And the food is incredible - something we were not necessarily expecting on a small island but it was stellar! Best Rum Runner ever. Oh, and the bed - I am the fussiest person in the world when it comes to beds - it was soooo comfortable! And last but not least there are 3 friendly resort dogs including a 3 month old puppy! Need I say more? You better Belize it!

My wife and I recently spent our honeymoon at Ray Caye resort, and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect experience. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was above and beyond anything we’ve experienced before. Every member of the staff treated us with warmth, care, and genuine kindness—making us feel not like guests, but like part of a family. Shoutouts to John, Noe, Jose, and Franklin for being so kind and filling our days with laughter and joy. The resort itself is absolutely breathtaking. We stayed in the honeymoon suite and the view was incredible. We really enjoyed falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the ocean. The suite was set away from most of the island and the added privacy/seclusion really helped the honeymoon feel special. The food was phenomenal. We really enjoyed trying the different mocktails and local specials. We loved that dinner was a different menu everyday; it made it something to look forward to. Ray Caye made our honeymoon dreams come true. We’re grateful for the incredible team who made our stay special. We will absolutely be back and we can’t recommend it enough for anyone looking for romantic luxury.
