Something so calm and soothing about this place even amidst the congested spacing. As you might already know, the place only serves 3 items (Idly, Vada and Pongal) and Coffee for breakfast, but still they do what they do best. If you are expecting something exorbitant where they would slather ghee into anything and make it sound authentic and homely, then this is not for you. This is where you would get home style as you would have in home. The prices are reasonable, their limited serve green chilli Kaara Chutney is a smack dab in a morning. Their vada is the most crispiest and of the photo framable texture. The 5 minute waiting time they say is not because of the hype or anything, but purely due to limited spacing since it is within a conventional mansion setup. Please note no Parking is assured and at your own risk. A special mention to all the polite service people from entry to exit with special care and kind words. You can have a limited breakfast along with coffee all for withint 100 for all the hype and that itself means a lot.

My mom and I went here for breakfast around 8 am. The food was absolutely outstanding - as authentic as it gets. Everything is served on a washed banana leaf. Starting with pongal, green chilli chutney, sambhar, we were served vadai with thick coconut chutney, followed by piping hot and fluffy idlis with ghee podi. Concluded breakfast with a top-notch filter coffee. The idli-ghee podi was so, so delicious 😋 the staff were extremely nice and helpful too. The place itself is small and tucked inside a narrow lane, we had to do some back-and-forth to locate it, also needed to ask locals for help. But the food and service is outstanding. Highly recommended, 10/10.

This is the first time I visited this mess. Came to know it's the oldest mess in the area. Morning Pongal, idly and vada along with a cup of coffee. An awesome breakfast we had. Very reasonable price. Pongal is their signature dish.

Visited Rayar’s Mess for breakfast. By the time I reached Pongal was over. Idli was super soft and vada is very crispy. They serve chutney and sambar unlimited. My favourite was idli with podi and ghee. Tasted very delicious. The filter coffee is a must try and tasted extraordinary. Mylapore filter coffee is something unique and authentic. Make sure you count the Idlies and Vada you’re having. You’ll have to inform the billing person at exit for what we had.

This restaurant boasts a charming traditional ambiance and offers a limited menu, but the food is quite delicious.. 😋🤤 For those who enjoy traditional South Indian dishes like Idli, Dosa, and Vada, I encourage you to try them. If not, it might be best to avoid them.. 👍🏻 In the morning, they offer only three items Idli, Pongal, and Vada, with Ketti Chutney and Podi available separately for an additional charge, But seriously, don’t miss out on the amazing taste of ketti chutney! You’ve got to try mixing it with sambar and Pongal for that divine Rayar's mess experience..🫠🤗 One of the best things is they serve it super hot, which makes it taste even better..!🔥 So, if you're getting a parcel or ordering online, you won't get the real restaurant taste. You should definitely try dining in..👌🏻 Don’t leave without trying the filter coffee, it’s like a hug for your taste buds from Mylapore!😘☕ Additionally, the service provided by the staff at the hotel is consistently excellent, they are usually polite and always willing to help.. 🙏🏻😊 It's a tiny place where only 12 people can eat at once, and it has this old-school vibe with tables and chairs, sure, it’s not a five-star setup like those big veg joints, but the flavor is a hundred times more awesome!!! 😊 And the prices..? It's just the cherry on top, totally reasonable for a budget-friendly place!😎 They are accepting UPI payment and cash.. It's a really tiny street, so finding parking on the main roads is tough and Usually, there are about 10 to 20 people hanging out outside, and you’ll probably wait around 20 to 30 minutes to get seated.. 😕 #Sha'sReview🎯

If you want to have authentic Chennai food this is the place for you. It is located deep inside Chennai Street's, We went there in the afternoon and the place was quite free as it opened just a few minutes ago. We had all types of dosai and bonda and to our luck we had gulab jamun multiple times...and a good strong coffee. Try this if you're in town and want a feel of the city vibes.

This is for those who have hype going here and try everything. It's good and there are many places in Chennai with the same and better taste. I went on weekend and it's rush in the morning. Tried all 3 menu in the morning. Has to wait a minimum of 30 mins if you want to sit and eat. Around 20 seating arrangement only. I just wait 10 mins and just stand and eat. Don't go with hype from instagram or youtube.

It's a must must visit place to have a good breakfast in chennai. Don't miss it or else you will regret it. This place is small but the people will serve the food in such a way that you want to have one more plate of everything. There is no second thoughts about the taste of the food , idli was so soft and light and vada didn't have much oil and tasted too good.we actually visited twice
