Real Plaza Hotel & Convention Center

Just a very tired hotel. Badly needs a major renovation. Staff very friendly though, hence second star. But old carpets provided little confidence about standards of hygiene. Bathroom was clean and functional, elevator provided a scare by stopping suddenly between floors…

Great foyer, nice bar, great rooftop restaurant-The décor is very dated and the rooms need upgrading. The rooms need air conditioning! The staff were helpful...location is a little isolated from cafes and restaurants. WiFi was hopeless in the rooms. It was definitely a hotel that needs to lift its game. I would consider somewhere else.

The tub and sink are completely plugged and the rooms are very hot. No air conditioning only Heat. Fans ordered but no delivery. Wake up calls don't happen. Lower floors are beautiful but the rooms are shot and some are grimy. Fine for a convention but not a place you want to stay. It has the air of a place that's trying to be sold. Out of 14 travelers on OAT, we all agree that this is bad!

The hotel is well situated in the middle of La Paz.||Staff are friendly but need a lot of training.||||The interior needs urgent upgrading. You are entering the 80's when being inside (but it is well maintained). ||Amenities are OK, sauna & steam room are spacious and well maintained. Good to have as it is cold and helps with your sinus (high altitude!).||||Response rate to requests is very slow. ||WIFI did not work throughout our 5 days stay (which was a mix of private and business). Despite many promises, the connection never came up - and that in the week they hosted the World Travel Awards....||||Breakfast needs upgrading in terms of quality & variety. Hot dishes on the buffet are usually cold as they do not refill the burner (eye for detail is generally lacking in the hotel).||The restaurant on the top floor (dinner) provides a stunning view but service is SLOW and food is always very salty.||||Housekeeping is not detailed. Room was never thoroughly cleaned, toilet paper & tissue not refilled (it took 3 calls and a walk to Front Desk (total of 1.5 hrs) to get a replenishment after we run out).||||Nice hotel & staff generally but truly it needs upgrading, training and a move into the present rather than being stuck in the past

The hotel is in need of refurbishment. The carpet leading up to the convention centre is worn out and tired. The room and the ensuite are roomy. My sleep was awful as the bed was a banana bed. The pillow was either too thin or too thick. I asked the hotel if they could provide us with thinner pillows, but the reception staff seem to have the problem understanding me and the extra pillows they gave us are thick ones. ||This is the second hotel in our month stay in South America that would provide in room tea making facilities. We just love it. ||The food at the cafeteria was good value and the wait staff was helpful. There weren't many vegetarian options on the menu but the chef was accommodating and made us vegetable soup.

This hotel does not have air conditioning and the rooms get very hot during the day. We were on the cool side of the hotel and it was very hot in our room with no air conditioning. The only partial solution is to open the windows but the traffic noise is deafening and smog is awful so you can forget about a good night's sleep. The beds are mushy and the pillows rock hard, the sheets are scratchy and there really is nothing comfortable about this hotel. On day two we got a fan brought to our room which was little help but made it somewhat better. With earplugs and the fan sleep was still difficult to get. On the positive side the staff is very nice but there is not much they can do. The place needs a major rehab||OAT put us here for 5 days and we could not believe their bad judgement.

Hotel looks very grand but needs updating and refurbishing, used to be the Radisson as you can see the logo under the new one, Rooms a good size. Restaurant was OK but hardly anyone there. Wi-Fi was pretty much unusable.

The Real Plaza Hotel is past it's glory days, and in need if a major renovation. No air conditioning, flakey WiFi. Restaurant and bar service is very sloooow. Room carpets are dirty. It does not deserve its self-created 4-star rating. I'd call it a 3-star hotel.
