Great winery. Tasty wines, nice deck to enjoy wine that overlooks vineyards. And staff are super friendly. I went there to see a local band which was so fun, and they had sangria, which was utterly delicious. Check them out.

Wife and I stopped by the Rebec Vineyard for a tasting. (It's become one of our yearly vacation stops!). The wines were great, as always. Our tasting hostess Emily was a great addition to the staff since our last visit. She is so personable and welcoming. She really made an enjoyable day out even more so! We will be back next year!!

Google
Today, Oct. 9, 2025 we tried the wines at Rebec winery. The tasting included 16 wines with some being unusual blends. Our wine guide Emily was friendly, knowledgeable, and very accommodating. We had a brief conversation with the wine maker. We learned that the tasting room was built with the boards recycled for my 100 year-old barn from the property. We bought 4 bottles and plan to return.

Google
Winery was a wonderful experience, hidden gem along Highway 29, the sommelier, named Hannah was very kind and knowledgeable about the products. Svet, the owner, was warm and welcoming. I highly recommend this winery if you’re looking for a relaxing and intimate wine tasting experience.

The Sweet Sophia is one of my top 5 wines I've tasted. There wasn't a wine out of the 16 I wouldn't drink again. Kylie was amazing and made the experience that much better. She explained the wines perfectly and gave us a tour. I ❤️ that it's on the small side. This place is definitely a vibe! I'll be back!

Google
Day trip to Virginia and I decided to visit some Vineyards. I stopped here and was greeted by Melody! She was awesome!! She's very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We had a nice chat about the wines. I only tried a few wines as I was driving and going to a couple other vineyards. I really enjoyed the pinot grigio. Very crisp and refreshing! The wine that really was absolutely amazing and is definitely a conversation piece was.....Sweet Sofia! So smooth, the aroma and all of the flavors. I would have this wine around Thanksgiving and Christmas, by a firepit in the Fall or on cold or rainy nights wrapped up in a blanket. I definitely would not share my bottle with anyone! They need to get their own. That is how amazing it is!

Google
Very fun tasting with lots of wines. The owner was friendly and informative. Many varieties of wines. Recommend trying them out.

Google
The wine selection here is more of a dry selection, and it just doesn't taste very good. I'm giving it a one star rating because when my sister and I got there, I paid for a tasting and the owner said we would get a souvenir glass, but when we got ready to leave, he wanted to charge me $3 for a glass that said "2022" on it AND he had already said they were souvenir glasses, so I gave mine back...I just thought it was very bad business. The owner is quite rude! This vineyard is very tiny, and when we walked in, it was oddly quiet, and the two people that were sitting at a table were I believe the owners' family. I do not recommend using the restroom here because anyone who is there will hear you! It was just not my kind of atmosphere. We took our business to Lazy Days, and it was a MUCH better experience!

Yelp
Wow this is a hidden little historic gem. Don't let the exterior fool you. Not pretentious at all but stellar wines. Honestly, Emily is the biggest gem, she was a phenomenal host exuding love and kindness. There are some very unique wines to try here and some awesome hosting wines. I am not a sweet wine person but I loved all of their sweet wine selections for hosting. They were not overly sweet and each had their own unique and dynamic flavors. Svet's Sweet Sofia was so unique and offers a herby Bulgarian recipe. Do the wine tasting because their wines will surprise you. Highly recommend you stopping by! As a side note they have both an annual Labor Day Festival and a Garlic Festival which is in October.

Yelp
Unfortunately, the RV website overly embellished the product and the experience. I appreciate the friendliness of the owners and the history associated with the property, however, the facility is more than rough around the edges. Besides, a vineyard of its size simply cannot produce 16 different variations and expect them to be decent.

Yelp
We decided to give this place a try one rainy day. We weren't disappointed! Not a lot of parking but we were the only ones there. We tried a bunch of their wines, also the mead wines. All were good. We did take several bottles home. I don't remember the names. The owner was working the tasting he was friendly and of course well knowledgeable.

Yelp
Fantastic, Hidden Find I kid you not, this vineyard is quite possibly the most creative vineyard I have ever been to. Other reviews here have spoken to the fact that the owner, Svetlozar, LOVES making wine. We were able to get a personal tasting with him, the wine maker, as our pourer. The wine tasting was $14. You get SIXTEEN TASTINGS!!! SIXTEEN!! The wine flavors were rich and delicious, with each being noticeably different. The flavors and choices in the wines were flowing with creativity. I love all of the choices Svetlozar made. The Sweet Sofia and the Gewurtztraminer were my personal favorites. If you're worried about the rating, don't be. Even if the wine was $10, it would still be worth it. Stop on by for a relaxing, delicious tasting!

Yelp
My first winery experience was quaint and romantic! We had the whole orchid to ourselves and got to taste over 15 wines for less than $15 a person. Cute cheese plates were available and the wines were extremely unique. Melody was extremely knowledgeable on the history of the property and gave us a wonderful experience. They also do garlic and wine festivals and have many bottles for sale at the location. We ended up getting 6 and they comped the tasting fee!

Yelp
I loved Rebec. It's cute and funky and their tasting features seventeen (!) wines. I thought the woman said $17 but no...seventeen wines for $10, plus a glass. Rebec is situated on some beautiful land and it is very pretty. The roadway to get there is gravelly and narrow--I luckily didn't need to pass a car because there was no room. That was the only part I didn't like. Service was amazing. I forget the woman's name but she was fantastic. Super friendly and knowledgeable. We chatted for a while because I was the only visitor and it was great. I really appreciated her tasting. I learned a lot about the wines and the winemaker. I was a big fan of the Gewurztraminer and cherry wines. Their herb-infused Sweet Sofia is really perfect for Thanksgiving, as the notes state. A few of the wines I didn't care for, but overall, I really enjoyed most of them and left with three bottles that I'm so excited to drink. Rebec is a great experience and I cannot recommend it enough. Hoping to get back with some friends and for their Garlic Festival.

Yelp
Such a lovely small and quaint winery! Svetlozar clearly has a passion for winemaking that brings a sense of creativity to wine that I haven't tasted before! We'll definitely be back for the Wine and Garlic festival in October!

Mary L.

Yelp
Svet is AMAZING. He clearly love wine and you can taste the passion in every product, even one's your palette does love. He personally led us through the tasting, which was an excellent price at $14 to try EACH AND EVERY WINE (which there are over 10). My personal favorite is the "Sweet Sofia". It is so herbal I would compare it to absinthe! An incredible unique taste. Overall: service for a Monday was beyond anything I would have expected and the ambiance is very niche. I can't wait to come back for their Garlic Festival!

Yelp
Nice place, very friendly people. This is where they have the annual Garlic festival, we plan to visit this year. The wine is so-so, we sampled some but did not purchase any.

Yelp
Rebec wines What a fabulous hidden Virginia gem. While this has been a route 29 staple for decades, the wines are definitely old world. Not the syrupy sweet wines of the East Coast today and not the the oaks and deepness of the West Coast. Just excellent Europeon inspired freshness. Try the old Bulgarian inspired blend. Very interesting. This beautiful small quiet winery is a Do Not miss. The owner is fabulous. The wine tasting fees $10,, and are for the whole menu! Guys the menu has over 15 wines!! Enjoy!! You will enjoy tastings for every taste. Immediately, I knew this was a definite Virgina Wine Club for me! Covid procedures- the wine server is always in a mask. Bottles of sanitizer are on the inside main bar or the wine server will serve you outside and deposit a bottle of sanitizer on your table. This is a lot of wine for someone to go to all that trouble. Tip accordingly!!

Yelp
Rebec is unique amongst VA wineries. They have a HUGE selection (despite only having 2 acres) of wines, assisted by the purchase of out of state grapes. I didn't find any wines that I was in love with, but at least the prices were very reasonable. The wine maker LOVES to make wine - so much so he can't confine himself. Fruit wines, Riesling, Pinot Noir, sweet, dry - it's here, and most are under $20. Apparently he also loves garlic, because Rebec sponsors an annual garlic festival. The most unique wine was called "Sweet Sofia", and was an herb-infused wine with origins of his hometown in Bulgaria.
google avatar

Larissa J.

Yelp
This place is known for their annual Garlic and Wine festival but we didn't know that until we arrived for their annual Labor Day festival and it was fun even in the rain!! The festival was a great way to try all of Rebec's wines and also check out 5-7 other wineries from the area. There was live music the entire day and food trucks from around the area. All this for only $15 beforehand or $20 at the door...great deal, fun festival, good times! And all of the vendors take square so no need to bring cash!

Yelp
It was a rainy weekday when we popped in on Rebec. The gal assisting us was so very welcoming, it was like hanging out with an old friend talking about wine. We really enjoyed our time at the tasting, learned a lot about their wines and their process. Their outside deck looked so welcoming, had it not been wet we'd have stayed longer. I recommend stopping by sometime, it's a very enjoyable visit!
google avatar

Shannon S.

Yelp
Meh. It's pretty primitive and even a little "crude". If you've been hitting the other Virginia wineries the contrast is clear. Wine is very unique across the spectrum. The Eastern European influence is unmistakable

Yelp
This week we stopped into Rebec Winery. I have to say what a great winery and a deep selection. The wine tasting of 19 wines for $10 is a terrific deal. Casey who took us through our journey of the wines was exceptional. She knew the history of the wines and their parings. Needless to say we left there with several bottles of wine. The Cherry wine mixed with the Lemon Mead was excellent. The Autumn Glow was very enjoyable and great for the change of season. Truly recommend a visit to this place. Will visit again next time in the area.
google avatar

Christina J.

Yelp
This was our favorite winery we visited this trip. They have a huge selection, and we enjoyed almost all of them. The tasting fee and wines were reasonable, and the lady helping us was awesome, very knowledgeable and sweet. We look forward to coming back on our next trip to Virginia!

Yelp
Stopped by because of the sign on the road that said "Wine & Garlic Festival." Would have loved to go but: 1) due to the hurricane rains they weren't prepared, the parking was disgusting ankle deep mud and muck 2) $20 per person for entry for 13 AND OLDER! 3) the girls at the front said it didn't include ANY wine tasting! You had to pay for that too! We left! Highway robbery!

Shamera C.

Yelp
Great experience!! Beautiful scenery and the staff and owner was very friendly and welcoming!! 16 different wine tasting options and they offer charcuterie bird made by a local business! Everything was amazing! I recommend everyone visit this place!

Yelp
This review is specifically for the wine and garlic festival held in early October every year, at the Rebec Winery outside of Lynchburg (Amherst specifically). What a fun festival this is! The winery itself is in a beautiful setting in central Virginia and all of the times I have been there I have lucked out with the weather being near perfect! Not sure how garlic became involved at this place but if you like garlic in your foods this is the festival for you! They have roasted garlic burgers, garlic pizza, garlic barbecue and garlic jams and jellies (the garlic is supplied by regional garlic growers). They also have the regional wines represented from the local Rebec Winery, as well as Peaks of Otter , Afton Mountain and Wintergreen wineries. The wines can be a bit pricey (around $20 for a bottle) depending on what you get. I usually tend to stick with the dry red wines such as the Cabernet Franc or Pinot Noir. In addition to the wine and food, they offer arts and crafts tents and bands play at various stages in the vineyard. Many people bring their chairs and just chill in the sun while listening to tunes and drinking fine wine. The only downside to this festival is the throngs of people that come almost overwhelm the not so huge vineyard area. At the post popular wine tents waiting in line for a taste will require lots of patience as you may have 50 people in front of you waiting to do the same thing. Also just walking around can be difficult without bumping into people who are trying to get to point b from point a. Then there is the parking situation. Getting in usually isn't too bad, but getting out can be kind of a cluster-F. Especially if you are parked in one of the back lots (3 and 4).

Yelp
Interesting wines at this winery near Lynchburg. The winemaker is from Bulgaria, so that may account for it. They have the standard cab franc and chardonnay, but they're also one of the few Virginia wineries with a pinot noir (they were sold out when I visited). The wines are good, but not groundbreaking. The tasting room is very small (this is one of the original Virginia wineries), not well ventilated. Nice deck in the back, extremely close to the vineyards themselves. The garlic festival in the fall is very popular.

Yelp
Perfect unplanned stop. One of the best tastings great information and every single wine was enjoyable was hard to narrow purchase to my budget but it's now on my list for return again !
google avatar

John D.

Yelp
As a disabled man, it is rare to find a place that accommodates a tasting. I still think anise was used in that one bottle my wife and I bought. I hope I can make the garlic festival.
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
I had the opportunity to tatse Rebec's wine at a wine festival. We came home with a bottle of Autumn Gold that I served to company the other evening. It is absolutely the most delicious wine I have ever put in my mouth! Having said that, my husband and I took a trip to the winery last week and did a wine tasting. Yes, the tasting room is small and we were the only people there, but we got personalized attention and had a great time. I'm stunned by the reviews that say the wine is unremarkable. It is truly REMARKABLE because I can assure you that you have never tasted anything quite like it. We purchased a case of varied wines, and I can't wait to open them and enjoy them! They are DELICIOUS!!!

Yelp
I feel bad leaving a poor review because the winemaker and his family are so nice but if you are a true lover of wines - especially red wines - you can probably skip this one. The white wines aren't bad and some are approaching good but the reds are really bad. Worth the trip I guess if you solely like whites.

Stephenie G.

Yelp
Phone message said they were open, Yelp! Said they were open but after detouring to visit, the doors were locked and only recording on the phone.

Ruth C.

Yelp
I recently organized a winery trip for a group of friends. Of the four wineries in the area we visited, Rebec was the favorite of everyone in the group. There were twelve of us, which is typically a lot for a winery to handle in one tasting. Rebec handled us like pros. They were welcoming, friendly, informative, and funny as from the moment we stepped inside until we were on our way. The wine-maker himself was present and ringing up our orders as we bought bottles. In addition, the tasting menu includes 15 wines! This is many more than a typical tasting. There is sure to be something for everyone.
google avatar

Amy A.

Yelp
I am very familliar with the VA wine scene and I would recommend skipping this one. There are a lot of wines and many of them are new and different and not the typical wines you get in VA. That being said, I did not like any of them. My boyfriend and I were the only people in the place (very small tasting room) and received great service and attention. I ended up buying a bottle because I felt bad, but I will probably be giving it away. To someone who doesn't know much about wine.

J B.

Yelp
Easter Sunday. Website said this vineyard is opened. Arrived at the vineyard. Sign said OPEN in different languages but it was closed. Another lady was there for 10 minutes. No one showed up. Very disappointing!

Ashleigh R.

Yelp
The owner is rude and horrible to work for. Also, if you take a tour of the back room you will see black mold in the ceiling and rafters. Don't come during the summer time to winery because there is no ac in the tasting room and it is not pleasant to drink wine. Rats get into the crackers as well so be aware. Poorly designed website because the fonts and colors are hard to read. Needs a lot of updating.
google avatar

GinGin L.

Yelp
My husband and sister enjoyed the wine tasting. They enjoyed it very much and we left with several bottles of their wine. My sister also got one of the wine glasses for her collection. It was a good day. Young lady who managed the wine tasting for them was very pleasant.
google avatar

Curt D.

Yelp
Excellent Virginia winery. Friendly people and very nice variety of wines. My favorites are the Cabernet Sauvignon and the Autumn Glow. Not pretentious or overpriced like some. Just good. Thanks Tom!
