Recess

Such a great selection, prices, and delightful staff!!! I was amazed of everything there. This store met my expectations and more. It was a big bonus to see I was supporting a local store. I am not from Calgary so using the map, it was tricky to find Recess. Upon walking on the street, I couldn’t see it until I found the promo poster for the Back to School sale. Just wanted to give that as a heads up for fellow travellers. Will highly recommend it and will return next time I return!

This place is a haven for stationary lovers. One of my favourite local stores in Calgary. Love love love their assortment of pens and writing tools, notebooks… the quality, unique and hard to find variety and reasonable prices make it a happy place for me. Picked up a lot of Christmas presents from here this year, and so far everyone loves what they got. Likely will be one of my first go-to stops for gifts in the future!

Amazing place, customer service is an issue Recess is our go to place for stationary and notebooks and we've been coming for 3+ years now. We usually loved going to this place but as of recently we've felt un-welcomed on numerous occasions by a specific cashier. When met with this specific worker i found that she tends to ignore us even when i try to pay yet when other people enter after us they are being treated with respect and hospitality after we were blatantly ignored. We know that this isn't an isolated incident as we've came many times and have been treated the same. We hate to address this but it is beginning to feel racially motivated as at the time we were the only people of color in that store who had been treated differently.

All the cute stuff are here. Best place to grab any notebook, journal, pen and pencil or even envelopes, cards and stickers!!! Ended up spending over $50 here it was truly worth it! I feel like most of goods here from Japan which even more trustworthy, love the vibes here. Will definitely come back for another stationary haul!! Recommend for anyone who’s into journaling, writing or drawing or even want to start any beginner steps? This is the place you should visit first!

Amazing selection, amazing vibe. I shop here frequently! I love how selection includes their own store-branded items (which is more affordable). My only complaint, I find the staff are not as knowledgeable as Reid's or Madison & Page

If you're looking for a unique boutique stationary store, this is it. There's so many different types of products from pens, notebooks, pencils to stickers and more. If I had more hours in the day I'll spend them here.

i love this store so much. it is a stationary fanatic’s dream come true, the kind of place that will inspire you to stop procrastinating and start writing like a maniac so you can get some more awesome notebooks, pens etc. they have so many quirky hobby related items, organizational tools, and pens/pencils for all budgets and uses. i love that they have something for every budget, it’s so easy to find a cool pen or some other writing or crafting implement to fall in love with here. I’ve stopped by every time I’ve been in Calgary over the last few years and always left inspired to create.

Pricey but awesome options particularly for artsy people.

Amazing selection. My wife used to bug me about my "paper problem". Once she stepped inside she totally understands. Now I have to watch what she's buying. Great selection of Japanese products including art supplies.

In this digital age, I still love office supplies! In particular, I enjoy lined paper, hard covered spiral notebooks, folders to contain loose sheets, and maybe a pen or pencil to keep them company. Recess (located in the Inglewood District) is such a place. Recess has one of those selections that there's so much variety to choose that you loose track of time trying to decide. Whether I actually needed some of this (behind my current holdings) was irrelevant. The only downside were regrets of what I might have left behind.
