I enjoyed the small but very worthy and well priced section on classical music vinyls. You don't easily find a Julian Bream vinyl from the late 60s/early 70s in such a good condition.

Good vibes and rare boogie funk records at Reckless Records Soho. A great spot at Berwick St, London , also called "the vinyl mile" with so many options for crate digging and excellent music. I've found a couple of vinyl records I was long looking for. A happy place for me, indeed!

great little record shop! the collection is really diverse, and i found a few rare gems i’d been hunting for. it’s a bit busy at times, but the vibe is fun and welcoming. definitely worth popping in if you love vinyl.

Another treasure trove for music collectors in London. Pretty much where the whats the story morning glory oasis sleeve was taken from if you stand looking down torwards shaftesbury avenue with the shop on your left. Much like the other second hand music shops in london they reduce things weekly and a lot or collectibles and rarities come and go. Dont treat this place like a museum. If want it, grab it before it’s gone and you’ll regret it when you come back. They also sell cool tshirts as merch. Such a selection and genre specific. Cds, vinyl, cassettes galore. Look in the cabinets, look on the walls. I bet you’ll leave with at least one purchase. It can get busy, which is a great thing to see but also a pain to get in or out of the shop with a bottleneck of people looking in the racks or paying as you come in.

One of the best record stores and certainly one of the more popular ones. There’s a great selection of music genres for everyone; rock, punk, metal, indie/alternative, jazz, soul and much more. Left with a nice Francoise Hardy record for £13. The store can get really crowded and cramped at time but should be manageable enough for you to browse through the crates.

A fantastic second hand record shop in Brighton, with a good selection very well priced soul, disco and reggae 12" singles. Considering these days, 2026, records themselves are generally getting harder to find

We stopped into this record shop because it was down the street from Sister Ray and also Sounds of the Universe. To be honest, it was the least impressive of the three stores and we didn't buy anything. It wasn't a bad record shop. But it wasn't our particular type of music really, it was pretty small and very honestly it's dwarfed by its two neighbors in terms fo prowess as a go-to vinyl destination. Still, if you're in the area hunting vinyl, it wouldn't hurt to stop just to see what there is to see.

I know have been to all reckless records. London is a must on your London record search. SoHo has a lot of record stores.

Not a great shop IMO. Better than Sister Ray, but the condition of a lot of the records was honestly quite disappointing. Lots of bag rash and cloudy LPs described as "VG+"... lol no. Those are junk. I did find a few things, and the staff were fine, but for the top dollar pricing they have on most of their records, you're better off taking a gamble on eBay. They also had very loud EDM playing over the speakers. I had a similar problem with sister ray. You want store music to be pretty neutral, not polarizing. I had to actually put my noise canceling headphones in to browse as the music was giving me anxiety.

How could I not say something about this historic record shop. Right in the heart of Soho sits a shop with an eclectic mix of new and previously enjoyed vinyls. This is a DJs paradise and as for any collector of music a candy store of epic proportions. If you buy records you must stop by and pick something up, so you can say, I bought it from Reckless Records in London!

If you're looking to sell records and want to be confronted by an unprovoked, rude personal attitude, be sneered at, plus be verbally put down for "boring" records they don't want, then hey, you've found the right place. And you thought that such a record store could only exist thee day in the movies.....well, sorry. The short, grey bearded buyer on dury will also happily throw in for free mistaking you for someone else he "had a problem with last time". Ask him to clarify and he'll realize he has you wrong, but then he'll just give you a glaring bug eyed grin back.... ahem, so someone please just have him say the common courtesy "I'm sorry" whenever he makes this mistake again. So, as the Beatles "Mystery Tour" song goes, roll up, roll up if you want an unwarranted, unpleasant personal challenge of you and your LPs for sale. Put another way, in sum this store offers a genuinely offensive and bizarre record selling experience....hey, someone please at least bravely sell them a copy of the record store movie "High Fidelity" to help show them how to be normal and pleasant... ouch!! And finally, yes, do not visit Reckless Records and you will avoid all the above in the first place.... smart move!

Mostly CD's Prices were a bit high local currency for mostly common titles. Great customer service and everything was well organized. Spent 45 minutes looking through records in hopes of finding something but nothing popped out immediately. The wall of rare items was fascinating.

Prices are on the high end - you won't be buying here and listing on Discogs to make profit overnight - but they're better than they have any right to be given this extremely prestigious location and selection is often unique, though perhaps doesn't turn around as often as it could. Their jazz section has become fairly woeful over the last few years but its very good for 80s-2000s indie rock. Star off because I don't like having to go to the desk with the sleeves to be able to check condition, printing of the vinyl etc. I sort of understand the reasoning but its a sad inditement of the city that it's necessary, and other shops don't do it so is it really required? Staff can be a bit detached but I've not yet encountered blatant rudeness. Just a shame they'll never get their original premises back a couple doors down - many a happy memory in that basement!

I wonder how this shop is still in existence with the awful service and terrible place! I went into their shop in Covent Garden and on asking whether I could listen to a couple of records to see if it was the style of music I wanted, I was told there were no turntables and the assistant behind the counter said 'it was a pain in the arse' that people bring music to the counter to listen to. Unbelievable. Shocking attitude. What if I brought the albums back because I didn't like them? Yes I could I was told, but I could have some sort of credit or whatever. I received the same sort of treatment in their Islington store last week. I asked If they had any Brazilian music and the assistant said it was in the 'Latin' section and said that he 'didn't like it.' Never mind I said, you are not buying it. I went upstairs and asked the assistant where Haggle Vinyl was which was in the same street. I was told it was closed. Just out of curiosity I went up to where I thought it was and Haggle Vinyl was open. I spent £100 in Haggle and nothing in Reckless. Also, maybe it is a Southern London thing, but I get the impression that people who work in record shops talk down to you and are a a bit snotty. What's the big deal anyway, most of their stock is just cheap vinyl and CD's, ie: rubbish. Reckless is a dump with terrible staff. Want to listen to what you are buying? Go to Sounds of the Universe, Phonica, Honest Jon's etc etc. Don't know about you, but I will never go to Reckless again.

Reckless records on Berwick Street is now called something like Vintage Vinyl or something equally disgusting. For a while this year it looked like it was going to close down but it seems to have new ownership who intend on running it like a high-priced second hand shop. Although the stock is good and you can occasionally find a gem in here, usually everything is too expensive (as a lot of it is new, but unorganized), and it takes an age to get through a small bundle of CDs (although the inlay only, no concrete CD cases to touch). It's all a bit flimsy and rubbish in here, although if you can afford the money and the time, it's very good to get your hands on some hard to find CDs and records.

Decent used record / CD shop in Soho but you really have to dig and something that should be in dance is in rock and sometimes vice versa. But great for the odd find here and there. Bad thing is, they don't have turntables to listen to purchases first, something I think is important when especially buying used vinyl! But again, glad it's still there!

As of June 2011 they've changed the name back to Reckless Records and the stock is much improved - excellent selection of used LPs, 12" singles and CDs at decent prices.

They do have a lot of stuff (altohugh they do not have a database that would be helpful if you want to find something specific), probably at a decent price, but they also have some of the most unreasonable people working in the shop. Except one or two of them, who treat you as a human being, the others are completely useless, they do not help you, they do not smile at you, they do not hear what you have to say. I bought an album on Saturday evening for 45 pounds, came back Sunday afternoon asking if I could change it and buy a more expensive one and paying the difference. They told me that the value of the album I bought was now 30 pounds. Not even 24 hours passed from when I bought it and the price went down of 33%???? seriously???? Except that they ended up losing money (just 5 pounds, not a big deal, but still money), because I haven't changed it at the end, what is the most frustrating is that they do not accept that someone can make a mistake. They treat you like an idiot and they do not even try to find a compromise. It seemed to deal with a little kid. The worse experience I have ever had in a shop.

Exceptionally rude and snotty staff, two of them are at least. They stared, blankly at, and disgruntled by my questions and generally gave off a passive aggressive stink. Was told off for paying at the wrong moment. These guys are losers.
