"Cooking on the River with Red Bridge Cooking schools seems to be popping up everywhere in Hoi An – and most of them also include some sort of market tour that will familiarize you with the how the market operates as well as explain those many unique fruits and vegetables that baffle you. What makes Red Bridge Cooking School unique is that it takes you through the market and then puts you on a old junkboat for a boat ride down the river to the school. The ride lasts about 20 minutes and you get a good feel for life on the river while you can ask questions of your guide at any time about life on the river, cooking, or Vietnamese culture. Red Bridge has their own herb garden and a nice facility located in a very open air space by the river. A chef demonstrates a dish and then you get to try to make it yourself. Afterwards – you have a full lunch eating many of the things that you made yourself! You can stay at the cooking school for the afternoon and take advantage of their pool to relax after that big lunch. Recipes are provided so that you can wow your friends at home too. Red Bridge also has a restaurant and wine bar in the old city of Hoi An where you meet for the classes before going to the market. It's a great place to relax and enjoy a bite to eat too. Thoroughly enjoyed this cooking tour. Local knowledge going through ingredients. Relaxing boat ride and then down to the cooking of our dishes. Chef goes through the cooking of the dish and then turned the kitchen over to us. Meals were amazing and adjustments made to Gluten Free and Vegetarian requirements with ease. Then returned to our hotel via bus at the end of the day. Cannot go wrong with this tour. 5 stars all the way

Booked a market tour and cooking class via our travel agent. Red Bridge were fantastic. A great market tour, followed by a boat ride and cooking class. Instructions were easy to follow, we received recipe booklets to take home, and help was on hand to assist with our own cooking. Flavours were so fresh and tasted wonderful. They catered for gluten free, vegetarian, seafood allergy and peanut allergy on our tour. As a family with a 16 year old boy, i think he enjoyed it the most, but we all had a great time.

The cooking class with farm village visit was a fantastic experience. Skip breakfast (or make it tiny) you’ll be eating soon enough and full by lunch. This is a wonderful experience to do with friends or a partner. The teachers were friendly and supportive and really took the time to explain how and why all parts of the cooking experience matter. Bring a baiting suit and sandals along for the trip as they have a pool and you’ll be on your feet outside cooking for several hours after the walk. The head chef will help you buy knives, durian fruit (fantastic, but you only need a single bulb) and any kitchen supplies you might want during your market walk, where you’ll get fantastic quality and the best prices. Finally, the boat ride back to the city at the end of the class is a great way to see the river, and overall this was a lovely way to experience local cuisine and learn the market. I recommend doing it early on in your trip as a way to begin the experience in a highly curated way.

After a tour in the Hoi an market where we learned about Vietnamese cuisine and ingredients we took a boat to the Red Bridge cooking school. The host served us a cold fruit juice freshly made and we started the class right afterwards. The staff first explained about safety and then we learned and made together Vietnamese dishes - spring rolls - we made the rice paper ourselves - they explained how to make the batter and steam it over a fabric placed above boiling water, green papaya salad, traditional shrimp pancake, seafood salad served in pineapple and more. We finished with a lunch made by ourselves. For the Foody people I recommend taking the class. You can come at evening time to eat there as it is also a restaurant

We met at this cafe where we we offered a beverage, and then taken on a tour of the local food market, then on a boat ride to the restaurant where we taught how to make 3 vietnamese dishes. We then had lunch, and the staff made sure we had a way back to town. The staff were friendly, the chef was kind and funny. Honestly such a great experience

We found this restaurant by accident while riding around on our motorbike. The riverside setting just outside Hoi An looked inviting, and the food was good. Unfortunately, our lunch turned out to be anything but peaceful. A group of parents let a dozen kids run wild through the entire restaurant, yelling and playing like it was a playground. It completely killed the relaxing atmosphere we were hoping for. Paul 🇺🇸 & Martina 🇨🇿

Fabulous morning. We were a big group and they divided us for the market walk, a short boat ride down the river to the Red Bridge Restaurant/villa. It was very tropical with peaceful gardens and picturesque areas. The cooking class was very well run with demo followed by us cooking …with lots assistance. At the end we ate together and were transported back to Old Town. Would highly recommend

We had an incredible day with Chef Luna and Sous Chef Ba. We toured an organic herb farm, local food market )not frequented by tourists) to select our ingredients, before heading to the cooking school. We were very lucky to be the only two people on the extended tour. The cooking school is set within beautiful surrounds and they invite you to use the guest room between courses. They kindly offered to pack our last meal for takeaway, and it was a delicious final course dinner back at our home stay. I recommend skipping breakfast as the tour includes 4 meals and I believe 4 or 5 drinks including water, refreshing cold Ginger teas, coffee, beer. We were surprised with a private long boat to take us back to old town on conclusion. Bring your sun hat, swimmers and smiles - 10/10 for the experience and an extra 1 for our beautiful hostesses - 11/10!
